[Red Alert] A-Rank Gorgonia

Post by Gara » Wed Mar 21, 2018 2:33 pm

In the desert sands to the west, heading towards Fire country, three shinobi had been found completely turned to stone. Slithering through those sands was a Gorgon spirit, and whosoever looked her in her eyes would forever be turned to stone. The spirit responsible had not been found, and shinobi were told to take extra precautions in the area, and were even advised to avoid the area if unprepared.

Her lower body was that of a giant snake’s, though her upper body was that of a woman’s. Her hair was a nest full of snakes. She carried with her a massive longbow, though she carried no quiver, because she used ninjutsu to create all of her arrows.

[Red Alert] A-Rank Gorgonia

Post by Legacy » Wed May 30, 2018 5:05 am

"I've never seen anything like this before...there aren't any signs of a struggle, no abnormal scarring or even a bruise. It's almost as if someone came and built a statue but...who on earth would be capable of such a thing and in the middle of a desert no less." Gene spoke in a low whisper, drinking in the sight before him; three ashen colored statues who's face told both a tale of great anguish and true artistic talent. Though he would never admit it, the sight actually made the silver-haired Jounin's skin crawl. To his left, Makoto. A promising sealing expert who made up for his youth with a stellar performance under pressure. At least...as far as his reports went; Gene didn't know the guy personally but enjoyed a second pair of eyes checking his steps and offering insightful commentary.

"Do you believe that this is the work of a spirit beast?" Makoto asked, brushing away the sand from one frightened stone figure with a small brush. "I'm not so sure. Gene answered honestly, he didn't want to believe in the possibility but wasnt' naive enough to push the thought aside. "In the past both spirits that I've encountered were violent, boisterous and destructive beings; this hardly seems like any of those things. There are no signs of a real fight anywhere, not a trail of destruction just - statues. I think it's no wonder we were called out here to investigate but the bigger problem is that whatever this is...it was worth enough trouble for the Land of Wind to send for aid."

Makoto nodded uneasily and silence befell the setting for a time. Tugging at a few small chin hairs of his own, Gene fell into deep thought. I don't understand...where are all these strange spirits coming from? Why now?

"Heh, two more little ones for me to play with..." The snake haired spirit had left the three stone shinobi there not as a warning like many thought, but instead it was actually set up to draw more shinobi into her. At first she had only caught the one long shinobi scouting for spirits, then two more came looking for the first one she had turned to stone through absorbing his chakra and life energy. Now two more shinobi had fallen right into her lap, how could the spirit not be anything but ecstatic. Cloaked with an invisibility jutsu at the moment she was only a hundred meters away as the whisper like words had left her mouth, "You four, go."

From the nest of snake that were wiggling about on top of her head, four of the snakes actually detached from her head and slithered down her scaly body and started to borrow their selves into the sandy soil before moving under the earth toward the two shinobi unseen. Then with a pull of her arm a small streak of lightning appeared within her palm as it drew back the bow creating an arrow of lightning, the lightning wiggled back and forth as it appeared rather simple in design. With the arrow at full draw the A-rank arrow of lighting was launched at a speed of her strength plus ten, due to the special properties of the long bow she wielded.

Almost though as if the lightning arrow had appeared out of no where the snake woman had launched the arrow in a slightly arching path that would come down directly on top of the two Konoha shinobi who were inspecting the three statues. The time and ability for them to react to the arrow would be on them, but when the arrow struck the ground or one of them it would explode releasing an A-Rank explosion of lightning. She was attempting to slow their movements and make them easy prey for her arrows and the four little companions of hers hiding in the sand.

In his studious observation of the three stone corpses Gene had not heard the voice taunting him nor the slithering creatures bellowing their way beneath the sandy desert surface. However, he could not mistake the sound of buzzing for anything other than what it was and on a day like today, where there'd been no clouds in the sky or source of normal discharge around for miles his instincts and skeptical nature were easily triggered. He checked left with his eyes and then right without swiveling his head and found...nothing. "Makoto, I think we should head for the Hidden Sand village and see what else they can tell us about this strange phenomena. Now that we've seen first hand the handiwork of who - whatever, thing is responsible, it'd be foolish to try conducting a search blindly." Makoto nodded in agreement though by now, both he and Gene were conscious of the growing pitch of that distinct buzzing. When they'd finally turned around to discover the source of their unease it had been Makoto to spot the charged projectile raining down from above.  There'd hardly been any time to think and in a split second decision Makoto grabbed hold of Gene and, using all his might flung the specialist out of the way of the arrow.  In his flight and surprise, Gene and the young sealing Shinobi exchanged one last look between another before the sudden explosion rocked the area with unfathomable devastation.

What ever had been Makoto and the three stone corpses was no more after the explosion and while Gene had managed to escape the brunt of the event he still suffered injuries both from the fall and what he assumed was a static discharge that seemed to extend far enough to cause a throbbing pain throughout his body. Sore, confused and grieving, Gene rose to the occasion and forced himself to be analyze his current situation.  He tried not to focus on his ringing ears, throbbing shoulder or emotional distress and only on the one thing that could work in his favor: He needed to locate the son of a bitch responsible for this mess! Scouring the region with his eyes  and listening intently with his ears, Gene was on full alert now. Can't stay here, he thought and began weaving hand seals. I need to locate the source of that attack and then formulate a plan for a strategic retreat.    Activating his mind's eye Gene was struck by another thought. No...whoever's out there now is probably watching, waiting to see how I'll respond next. I've got until that dust cloud clears to come up with a decision though and there's a slim chance of making it out of this if I just sit here. I've never been to the Hidden sand village and Makoto was the only one who actually knew the way to get there.

Already, things were off to a grim start. An unknown enemy hiding in the sands, a comrade killed in action and no way to call for reinforcements. If Gene  wanted to have any chance of coming out of this one then he would need to think of something...and fast.

"Hmm...better than expected, seems that I didn't get them both though..." A seductive voice casually drifted over the desert sands and would find its way into ringing ears of the injured shinobi still concealed from sight within the dust cloud that was rapidly drifting away in the hot desert winds. After the shot had been fired, the female spirit's position would have had been revealed to the naked eye if it wasn't for the cloud around Gene. Now standing in what was once open desert, a fifteen meter tall creature that appeared to be half human and half snake with another ten meters of her lower half coiled around the spirit. On top of the strange spirit's head was a nest of dozens of living snakes that swayed back and forth of their own accord. As for the snakes that had detached earlier, they were silently surrounding the place were the Konoha shinobi was contemplating his next move, these snakes were the truly scary part of the spirit's power but Gene would have to wait to discover just why that was.

Almost as though it was a casual movement, with the bow still out at full arms length, the free right hand made a set of one handed seals before a thick arrow of pure chakra began to form within the green fingers of the spirit's hand, it was then knocked and pulled back to full draw within the bow string. However, she couldn't see where her target was hiding within the dust cloud at the moment and instead going for her normal avenue of precision shooting she opted for coverage. The bow was aimed up higher than before as the arrow was launched upwards with impressive speed into the sky above where the shinobi was concealed. With an explosion as it entered the air about fifty meters above the young man, the arrow transformed into a ball of chakra nearly a meter in diameter before exploding with a thunderous bang.

This caused for a rain of thick senbon-like chakra weapons to fall down at a speed and strength of ten covering nearby a twenty meters area directly below the explosion, this was not only an attempt to wound the man but also to potentially flush him out into the open desert. She truly wanted to toy with this man, as she found him rather appetizing and couldn't help but allow for her forked tongue to slip out from her lips in excitement...

When the feminine tone had finally reached his ears Gene was at his wits end on what needed to be done. He realized that in order for his escape to be a viable option there needed to be a suitable distraction serving as a throw off otherwise he'd just be killed in the act. However, with so little cover and a limited range of supplies at his disposal there was little that he could do that would even come close to being a decent distraction and thus, he'd been left with only one option. Whether he wanted to or not Gene realized that he had no other choice than to stand and fight - less many more succumb to the wicked ways of a benevolent being. Furthermore, there was another task that he needed to complete before anything; if there were anything left of Makoto down in that hellish pit of a crater or anything pertinent to the village, Gene needed to dispose of it. A cumbersome task that no civilian would approve of but a necessary evil nonetheless for if any of the young Shinobi's equipment, body parts or any chakra baring item on his person were to somehow fall into the wrong hands then the maelstrom of chaos that could ensue would likely cause major problems later on down the line.

With his mind set to the oath and professional duty, Gene bound up and over the threshold of an obscenely large crater and found solace in the soft desert sands where his feet could land without so much as a crunch. Perhaps the one and only good thing about the sun scorched rodent infested landscape, Gene noted.  To his surprise the crater created was just as deep as it had been wide; spanning the length of several buildings if Gene were ever to make a guess and again, had contained enough depth to provide considerable shelter from his enemy or enemies. He still did not know the exact number of who ever were responsible for attacking him. If I'm lucky, maybe they'll just decide to go away. Gene thought in regards to whoever had attacked before though the sound of electricity crackling almost forced a sigh out of his mouth. ...Too bad I'm never lucky. He had not reached the center of the blast site when a thunderous boom sent him into a even paced jog. While he hadn't been running at full speed Gene moved fast enough to at least find temporary shelter along the bottom crevice of the large crater where the walls curved in and upward; it wasn't much but, some cover beat no cover at all.  Moreover, if he were about to deal with the same blast as before there wouldn't have been much he could do anyway from his current position.

To his surprise though, instead of an all powerful concussive blast of death and destruction over taking him,  minute senbon sized volts of electricity rained down from above and most of them were well off the mark.  Quite a few did strike inside the crater and some dangerously close to where he'd been leaning but in some weird twist of fate or a sign of the Gods, Gene did not succumb to injury. Interestingly enough one electric needle came so close to impaling him that he could feel its intense heat as it traveled just a hair's length away from his body and struck the sand between his feet. Well...I guess there's a first time for everything. Gene could hardly relish in the irony of the moment, though.  He still had a job to do and was dead set on seeing it through to its completion. At least now he knew that whoever was attacking him had a strong affinity for Raiton...but there was just one problem...so did he.

"Little boy, little boy, don't hide from your death. Have a little bit of pride and face your death with some honor." There was some easily distinguishable mockery within the females words as she broadcasted them out across the desert stands after the explosion's sound had dissipated and soon the dusty cloud of sand had done the same revealing the large crater that was left in the wake of her first ambush strike. A smug smile clung to her lips as she tilted her head to one side, causing the snakes to fall to that side as well from where they acted as hair atop her head.

'If he's still alive down there, my little friends should help to flush him out...' The spirit wasn't to much of one for close combat, as could have been guess by anyone who saw the marvelous long boy. Speaking to herself three of the snakes unborrowed themselves from the edges of the crater, their green slit eyes scanning the area before descending down the concave slope as the fourth open revealed itself for a minute before burrowing itself back underground and following behind one of the other snakes. She was content in waiting out Gene as this point, wanting to see how he faired against the little companions of hers...

[Red Alert] A-Rank Gorgonia

Post by Legacy » Wed Oct 03, 2018 2:29 am

"Big words from someone attacking a stranger from a distance, you should take your own advice." Laced with venom and apparent disdain, Gene's words came out more spiteful than even he realized had been possible. No matter the circumstance he'd always been able to remain impartial but for some reason he couldn't help but hate his foe. No, he knew the reason. A comrade had been killed needlessly and from the sound of things, for this creature's amusement. A wound he had thought long closed was now reopened and Gene found himself seething with frustration at a grim realization - he couldn't protect yet another comrade despite his supposed strength. This was the last straw; with Kami as his witness, Gene was officially done hiding...done running away.

His hands formed a cross in front of his chest which would spur the creation of a strange phenomena - life. His life. A perfect replica of Gene himself born of his chakra had manifested in a once empty space several meters away from him and upon coming to be it launched fiercely out of the crater and up to the stage to meet its opponent. A vile, twisted and sickening being if ever such a thing could truly exist. What the Shadow clone lay eyes upon was neither human nor monster...it was a demon! "You...you're not from this world which can only mean one thing..." The Shadow clone advanced forward, snatching the sheathed Tanto from its binds as it charged directly for the creature. "I've got to be the one to send you back to hell!"

Meanwhile, the real Gene slipped out of the rear of the crater while his clone had created a diversion. With the harsh winds of the Desert region as his cover he began making the necessary preparations to position himself for a devastating blow that he hoped would put an end to the horror of...what ever this thing was. Moreover, he didn't care if he had to sacrifice his own life in order to do it.

Post by Zao » Wed Oct 03, 2018 11:04 pm

"Hahaha!" The spirit only began to laugh hysterically at the young man's spiteful words towards her, it was actually just what she wanted to hear as it made it much more fun for her with the prey actually tried for fight back and didn't just cower over waiting for death to come for them. As the clone rocketed out of the crater that had been created by the female spirit's first sneak attack she had already drawn the bow back and a simple looking arrow of chakra appeared within the bow. Her body had a soft green glow as chakra seemed to form an outline around her body in that moment as she released the arrow that was constructed of the same color chakra that outlined her body.

The arrow seemed almost ordinary when compared to the powerful attack that had been launched earlier, but it was this simplistic nature that would cause for any experienced fighter to worry slightly. A moment after its release the vile looking, snake haired creature had formed a hand seal with its left hand and in that moment the single arrow multiplied forming a ten meter cloud of arrows that swept across the desert like a plague of locus towards the shadow clone of the Konoha-nin. The sudden actions of the clone had drawn the attention of the snakes that had been searching for him as they slithered out of the crater trailing behind the clone unaware that the true Gene had slipped away from them.

It was the desert environment that was currently aiding the retreating shinobi that was also aiding the four detached serpents as they would approaching the shadow clone from the rear, left, and right side as they slithered rapidly across the ever changing desert sands...

[Red Alert] A-Rank Gorgonia

Post by Legacy » Tue Nov 20, 2018 3:47 pm

Albeit brief in its existence the lone Kage Bunshin had accomplished exactly what it had set out to do. In stealing the attention of the great spirit beast and her mythical devil snakes it had given Gene the opportunity to flank the beast and take up strategic positioning just shy of four meters from where the creature stood tout and taunting her prey. Fortunately, the noise generated from her own attack had been able to mask both his initial approach and the sound of him weaving signs shortly after getting into position. Unfortunately, there was no way to mitigate the noise of hundreds, thousands of birds chirping as Gene completed his technique but all had not been lost. Loud as the technique was it'd been neigh distinguishable from the sound of actual birds and to that effect, echoed so much that discerning the exact location of where the young man had been while not impossible would certainly require a keen ear an attention to detail.

Even despite this blaring shortcoming Gene was willing to take a gamble and put everything on the line for the sake of his fallen comrades. In one mighty downward motion he slammed his still charged left hand into the ground and focused intently on what was about to happen next. At this point, had his efforts thus far been successful the spirit beast would have been introduced to a "shocking" surprise. At the spirit's lower half electricity would violently tear from the ground in a desperate attempt to both impale and immobilize the beast. Unfortunately, Gene had no plans on taking it alive and if his attack had been successful the beast would ultimately be impaled and suspended in air; murdered in perhaps the most brutal and painful method at the young specialist's disposal, shocked to death.

On the other hand, had his technique failed Gene maintained enough distance to where he could retreat on a dime. He knew when to call it quits and return to fight with better information on his enemy.

Raikiri * Blood song
A - rank Raiton Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: *Raiton • Thousand Birds , 26 control , 27 Ninjutsu , 25 instinct (improvised jutsu).
After manifesting the *Raiton • Thousand Birds technique Gene will thrust his hand into the ground allowing the electricity to flow through it. This electricity will then sprout violently from the ground as three intersecting bolts of lightning at a speed of 30, each boasting a twelve inch diameter forming the letter "Ӝ". At its max height, this variant of Raikiri elevates up to 5 meters in the air and impacts hard with twenty-four strength. Those struck by this technique are impaled and held in place, paralyzed by the Raiton's passive effect in a "Crucifix" posture. Designed to either kill or capture mid-ranged targets, this improvised Raikiri technique has a maximum distance of fifteen meters though can be deployed at shorter distances if need be.

[Red Alert] A-Rank Gorgonia

Post by Zao » Thu Nov 22, 2018 9:44 am

The large scale attack of multiplying the chakra arrows did create quite the disturbance in the desert once more filling the local area with a cloud of sand that began to slowly drift in the strong winds that occupied this section of the eastern Wind country desert. For once, it would seem that things had gone in the shinobi's favor as the clone had been attacked at this point by the three serpents whom had finally honed in on the man's former position within the create and lashed out to bit the clone. To their dismay the creatures upon sinking their fangs deep into the clone had it disperse leading to a moment of confusion as they then relayed what happened back to their 'mother'. "A shadow clone...bird?!" Sudden from a short distance away in the thin veil of sand that coated the lower region of the desert now there was a powerful echo of what sounded like hundreds of birds chirp which even startled the female spirit now causing her to turn into the general direction from which it was originating.

The first reaching being surprise with the second instinct to retreat from the nearby sound as it wasn't a natural sound from the desert as she did so she would avoid a fatal blow but the bolt of lightning that attacked her from the left side pierced through her lower tail, effectively pinning her in place as it connected to the other bolts. She wasn't dead, though the wound could have been considered a serious one, yet the passive effect of the lightning made it so that her lower body could no longer help in her retreat as it had been paralyzed. In a panic she drew back her bow as a large arrow began to form as she yelled into the sand, "Stay back you little bastard!"

[Red Alert] A-Rank Gorgonia

Post by Legacy » Wed Dec 05, 2018 1:38 am

"I gotta hand it to you, you're more persistent than I thought." Gene's words rang out as he brought his hands together in a hand gesture that the spirit wouldn't have been familiar with. It was a drag but unlike the spirit who's very essence had been derived from a realm built on Chakra, as a Human Gene needed to make use of developed rituals in order to utilize the same energy. However, unlike the spirit who now focused desperately to manifest her weapon in a panic, Gene was as calm as a summer breeze or a clear night sky. Moreover, also unlike the spirit, the technique he was about to use didn't require his chakra to be externalized in order to charge it; only when he was ready to discharge his technique would the spirit actually see what he'd been cooking up and he was sure of one thing...it wouldn't like what the Specialist had in store. No way to run and nowhere to hide, the Gorgonia spirit beast might as well had been target practice.

Gene inhaled through his nostrils until his chest puffed up noticeable and took a single step forward leaning in on his right leg before expelling the gathered chakra that he'd built up in quite the interesting display. For what came out of his lips was not air, but the brightest most vibrant orange flame that one had ever seen! The stream started out narrow, covering only a small area out in front of him but in no time expanded in was was unquestionably a two meter jet stream of controlled pyre; beneath the flame and at the mercy of its growing fury, sand heated until even the very specs began to harden under the pressure and then...right before the spirits very eyes the flames grew at an alarming rate. To Gene, a man who had come to appreciate the divine element of which he'd been born a natural of, this display had been the most beautiful thing that he'd ever seen despite being a somber affair.

Now, it was time for this accursed spirit beast to feel the fanned flames of human wrath! Without delay such an unearthly creature would be judged harshly for the crime of murder and upon the final verdict there could be no compromise. As if launched from the mouth of an explosive volcano the flames violently pushed forward licking away at obstruction and thriving in the desert air as if to have been forged perfectly for the setting. What had once been just a narrow jet stream now spanned ten meters across, stood ten meters high and at a point furthest away from Gene, spanned ten meters wide. It was a literal Tsunami of hellfire directed straight for the pinned down spirit and at such a short distance (4 meters) between it and her executioner, it would have taken divine intervention of the most literal kind to spare her a fate perhaps worse than death itself. For these flames, burned furiously hot and upon impact not only would it potentially be cooked but the explosion that would follow afterwards may very well have obliterated the damned thing out right. This was a technique that was powerful enough to warrant Gene's own retreat after casting the jutsu in order to ensure that he himself, was not made a casualty in such an act of valor.

However, in using it, he'd let it be known that he was not above going to great extremes if it meant ridding the world of a vile omen. In its wake the blast would leave a 10m diameter crater in addition to swathing scattered flames, smoke and glassed over sand. Ironically, it was this jutsu in which Gene lay claim to his second moniker; The Sleeping Dragon.
