[Graded] [Plotboard] Everyone Loves Bacon

Tei, Yoshinori stood waiting at the front gates of Konohagakure no Sato at the break of dawn. He had been contracted by the village to aid in the removal of a pesky herd of wild boar that had been recently terrorizing the crops outside of the village. Normally the farmers outside of the village could handle a couple boars but the reports coming in had indicated there was too many for them to deal with and it would be better to use shinobi to thin their numbers. For now, Yoshinori continued to wait silently at the gate as the sun began its ascent into the sky. Wild boars tended to be most active in the early morning or late evening so the boy had decided getting this done quicker would be best.

For now, however, he was awaiting the appearance of his help for this mission. A genin had been assigned to help him with this mission and from he was permitted to read on her files, she was an up and coming genin who would surely be taking her chuunin exams soon. This would not only serve to help the girl gain experience working with higher ups but also with missions taking place outside of the village as well.

Yoshinori fiddled around with his gear and made sure his bracers were strapped tight as a way to kill time while waiting.

Niku was glad to be assigned another mission, she just wished it wasn't so stinking early. She had dragged herself out of bed, begrudgingly dressed and armed herself, and then grabbed a few snacks for later. She and Akisu made their way to the front gates of the village. She had a name, but not much else. Though I doubt there will be a bunch of young, male chuunin hanging around the gate at this time of the morning. She knew he was a chuunin, which meant he was in charge during the mission. That didn't bother Niku; in fact, she didn't much like the idea of taking responsibility for others and telling people what to do was definitely not something Niku enjoyed.

She arrived just as the sun's rays began shining through the cracks in the trees. "Yoshinori?" she called as she began her final approach. "Inken Niku, pleased to be working with you," she said once she'd gotten to a suitable conversational distance. From her vantage point, Niku had to look up at Yoshinori's face due to their height difference, but she couldn't help but notice how good looking the chuunin was. While he was younger than her standard crush, Niku couldn't help but imagine the two of them on a nice beach somewhere...

Yoshinori's mind had drifted off to la-la land while fiddling with his gear and waiting. The voice of a girl calling his name, however, had snapped him back to reality and caused him to look around for the source of the voice before locking his eyes on the petite girl walking up to him. Yoshinori's eyes found their way to the swords attached to both sides of her waist and found himself intrigued. 'I hope she knows what she's doing with those things.' The chuunin thought to himself as she stopped in front of him.

"Yes, that's me. Nice to meet you, Niku." He replied, curtly nodding his head at her. "Let's get going then." Yoshinori went on, looking at the gate guards and giving them a nod. One of them gave him a nod in return and Yoshinori began to walk through the gates of the village and into the wilds surrounding it. "The mission is relatively simple. A bit away from the walls are a herd of boars causing issues for farmers. We're to take care of them." Yoshinori explained as he bent his legs and jumped upwards onto a tree branch. He'd wait for Niku to join him before he began to jump from branch to branch towards the location in question.

For the next several minutes, Yoshinori jumped forward in silence with his attention split between making sure he didn't fall and keeping an eye on the forest floor. The duo would enter the region of the forest where the boars had settled in and not soon after Yoshinori would catch sight of a duo of boars sniffing and searching through the underbrush.

"Looks like we found a couple." He whispered to Niku as he withdrew a kunai from his weapons pouch. "Do you want the first strike?" He asked, shooting her  a glance before refocusing on the animals.

Niku first noticed Yoshinori's eyes drift down to her hips. As usual, Niku assumed that he was checking her out rather than checking out her weaponry; she wasn't insulted in the least bit, rather, she was quite flattered. She was then pleased when he confirmed his identity, but then perturbed as he seemed in a rush to get moving. Maybe he just likes to work... and has really bad game with the ladies.

Not wasting any time, Niku followed his lead which only seemed appropriate considering he outranked her. Once outside the village's gates, Yoshinori laid out the objective in terms that even Niku could understand, though 'take care of' was a vague term. Are we feeding and bathing them? she joked to herself as she leapt into a tree chasing her superior. She, of course, knew that 'take care of' was a nice way of saying 'kill them mercilessly'. She realized that some people had a soft spot in their hearts for animals, but she wasn't one of those people. Pets, she acknowledged, were different as they, generally, involved an emotional bond with their owners. She couldn't imagine something bad happening to Akisu.

Niku followed Yoshinori through the trees, stopping when he did. She followed his line of sight to the two boars rooting around in the underbrush. When he asked her a question, her mother's words of wisdom went through her mind: Men like to be the leaders of women. She nodded slightly in the negative, giving Yoshinori the opportunity to strike first. She really didn't mind and she was curious as to what the young chuunin was capable of.

"Lazy kids..." Yoshinori grumbled to himself as if he wasn't one him after Niku refused first strike. It was still early morning and he wasn't really looking forward to spending the day covered in boar guts. Best to start it early and be done quick, lest he be stuck in the gore all day. "Okay, I'm going." He spoke, half between a whisper and normal speaking volume, as he crouched down on the thick branch of the tree they had been perched on. Yoshinori didn't have any room to run up and perform the technique he had in mind, so he'd had to improvise. Withdrawing a second kunai from his weapons pouch, the young chuunin kicked off and downward towards the two boars.

Three-quarters of the way still up the tree, Yoshinori tossed his first kunai between the two boars and caused them to look around in shock. One-half of the way down the tree Yoshinori tossed his remaining equipped kunai straight down at the boar's skull as he extended his leg out towards the crest of its head as well. Within an instant, the kunai had embedded itself into the boar's skull but the animal did not have the necessary time to respond to the metallic instrument as Yoshinori's foot followed it immediately after, impaling the kunai through the boar's skull and putting it out of it's misery quickly. The remaining boar squealed loudly in shock; shock of both its comrade being killed and shock at a man falling from the sky. It began to panic before taking off into the underbrush but not before Yoshinori had removed the kunai he had used as a distraction from the ground and hurled it at the running boar. The kunai had stuck the animal deeply as it ran, blood freely spilling from the wound.

"Niku! Think we should go chase it? Should be easy to follow with the blood trail. Or do we deal with Porkers beforehand?" Yoshinori called from the forest floor as he turned to the dead pig and wondered the best way to bring it with them.

In this technique, the user builds momentum and speed in order to bridge the gap between themselves and a distanced target. After covering an appropriate distance, the user then lets loose a form of distraction, like a thrown object, in order to misdirect the target's attention. The user then leaps with their momentum, delivering a strong kick to bridge the rest of the distance.

Niku heard Yoshinori grumble something, but she couldn't make out what he'd said. Maybe he's the submissive type? she questioned to herself before Yoshinori spoke again, this time almost at a normal volume. It had startled her a bit, but then he leaped into action which brought her back into the moment. She watched as her mission leader utilized his weaponry and taijutsu skill to, first, confuse the enemy, second, dispatch one of them quickly, and, finally, injure the second boar before it could make a hasty escape. None of what he'd done was outside of Niku's capability, but it was definitely outside of her imagination. She'd never consider such an attack which made her admire Yoshinori a little more than she had before.

Ignoring that for the moment, she listened to Yoshinori's question. "I can catch it," she said, attempting to sound confident. She'd never actually hunted boar before, Yoshinori had made it look easy and it was already injured. How much can it fight? she mused before turning in the direction the injured boar had taken off in. With a bit extra force, Niku leaped from the tree branch, falling gracefully to the ground below, landing with a light thud. From there, she regained her balance and rushed forward, using the blood as an indicator to ensure she was going the right direction.

With her speed and the boar's injured rear, it didn't take long for the young kunoichi to catch up. She wanted to end the boar's life quickly, as Yoshinori had, in order to reunite with Yoshinori. As if sensing someone following it, the boar skid to a stop, turning as it did so. The animal's wounded rear was placed with a tree behind him, as if protecting itself from being ambushed again. Niku, however, didn't stop and rushed right up to the boar's right side, catching it by surprise. As she slid to a stop next to the animal, her right hand gripped one of the hilts on her left hip. The boar had time to turn slightly, but not before Niku's Line Draw slid easily though the boar's neck. The wound wasn't deep enough to completely decapitate the creature, but the boar crumpled over in death within a moment.

"Yes!" Niku exclaimed. Her excitement had gotten the better of her and she was proud to have been useful. Hmm, now what?

Yoshinori nodded as Niku said she'd deal with it. He watched the girl dash off, her speed surprising the chuunin. 'Faster than me, it looks. Not going to admit that out loud to a genin though.' Yoshinori thought to himself as she disappeared into the brush with the stray boar. Yoshinori looked down at the dead boar and sighed; they'd be coming back this way anyway. They could bring the corpse with them on the way back. The chuunin followed behind his junior at a subdued pace to allow her to deal with the boar on her own. He picked up the pace upon hearing her exclamation and came onto a scene of the boar's head nearly separated from its body while blood poured onto the ground around it into a puddle and had begun to seep into the ground.

"Good job. Let's get going. There's sti-" Yoshinori was cut off by the sound of the underbrush being disturbed and grunting. "I think we found even more of them. Leave the body for now, we'll collect it on our way back." The chuunin proclaimed before jumping back into the trees and following after the sounds of the boar in the underbrush.

Niku was glad that she'd been successful in dealing with the boar on her own. It was a slight reassurance to know that she didn't always need higher ranked shinobi to help with everything. She was a bit startled as Yoshinori entered the area just after her proclamation of success, Ah, hope he didn't hear that... was a little unprofessional. She simply nodded as the chuunin mentioned moving on, but the nearby noises caused both shinobi to turn that direction. Niku nodded as Yoshinori summarized the situation and the plan to reclaim the boars on their return.

Her recent success made Niku want to rush over and throw some more line draws on some poor boars, but she denied her base instinct and decided to follow Yoshinori's lead. He did outrank her and was, for all intents and purposes, the leader of this mission. Disobeying his orders could be seen and reported back to the higher ups as some form of disobedience. She really had no reason to disregard Yoshinori's lead anyways so she followed him into the trees, following the sounds of their targets.

Yoshinori had seen the girl's speed when she had gone after the boar and knew she was faster than him by a decent bit. In turn, he also knew she was holding back so that he could keep up and wouldn't be left behind. He understood her trepidation about possibly showing up the commanding shinobi while a rank below them but Yoshinori was one of the types who really didn't care about those sorts of thing. The mission being completed was more important than his pride being bruised.

Plus, it'd be best for them to NOT lose the boars so Yoshinori glanced at Niku for a moment mid-run before opening his mouth. "Feel free to chase them down as quickly as possible. I'd prefer to leave one alive so that it could lead us back to the den, however." Yoshinori relayed to the girl as the duo ran through the forest in chase of the property-destroying mammals.

Niku was a little surprised to hear those words from Yoshinori, he was giving her the go-ahead to rush ahead of him. On the one hand, she almost felt like this was some sort of trick, an attempt to let her go ahead and screw up without him there to watch over her, but the other hand realized that he was simply utilizing the team's skills to their utmost in order to complete the mission. Most ninja were good at something or another, a leader's job was to utilize what their underlings are good at to their advantage. Niku decided that this was what Yoshinori was doing so she did as she was told and ran ahead of the chuunin. "Yes sir," she responded over her shoulder before she got very far away.

The pace hadn't been slow by any means, but Niku also had no trouble picking up the pace and quickly closing the distance between herself and the boars. Moving through the underbrush would have been troublesome and restrictive, but moving through the trees as they were allowing Niku to catch up in just a couple moments. Through the tree limbs and leaves, Niku could make out one more boar, though she felt certain there were more creating a mini-stampede. The kunoichi assumed they were running away from the danger that the shinobi posed to them, though she wasn't really sure. Feeling that letting them continue on unimpeded was disadvantageous to the small team, Niku moved past the boars and found a small clearing. She dropped down into the clearing, hoping to halt the creatures' movements. Unexpectedly, there were three boars and they picked up their pace, moved closer together, and lowered their horns, seemingly aiming to trample the little girl in front of them.

With all three so close together, Niku worried that a draw may wound them all, and she couldn't risk screwing up this mission, especially after Yoshinori had given her some room to maneuver on her own. Instead, with little time to prepare or develop a true strategy, she jumped. It wasn't the most beautiful tactic, she quickly realized, but it kept her and all of the boars from getting hurt. As the boars zoomed under her, she quickly kicked downward, hoping to injure the middle one and break up the group. The boars momentum and the impact from Niku's foot sent her rolling forward, though she'd been prepared for it. Her kick had succeeded in slowing the middle one down as the other two continued on ahead. Crap! That didn't go well at all!

Niku then rushed towards the one she'd kicked, who'd stumbled and rolled a couple feet away due to the impact. Without a second thought, Niku unleashed her Iaido technique through the boar's neck as it attempt to regain its balance, relieving it of the life it had been attempting to protect. She turned in the direction the other two had gone, realizing that things weren't quite as terrible as she'd originally thought.
