Each shinobi within the Hidden Leaf were informed on multiple rules for accepting the invitation, traveling, and then staying at Sunagakure. The simple rules were that the information about traveling to Sunagakure no Sato was considered S-ranked knowledge. Which meant that anyone that got an invitation was not allowed to tell anyone else about the event at all. The next thing was that each shinobi was responsible for their own food during the day. Meals would be provided at night, but if they were hungry or thirsty during the day they had to bring their own meals. They were also informed on what to bring for the village. Some storage space to put items they purchased in, money to buy items they wish to acquire, and of course some longer clothes that would cover them up from both the sun and warm them at nights. The shinobi were also informed that they had to be on their best behavior. This was an opportunity to form relationships and increase their engagement with Sunagakure so that the future leaders of the villagers can continue this partnership. The younger shinobi that were ranked Genin and Chuunin were permitted to always have a special Jounin or a Jounin chaperone. When arriving at Sunagakure it was imperative that the shinobi are polite and kind. They would be staying there for several nights so there will be roommates, nightly curfew, and a few Jounin switching shifts and monitoring the halls. All shinobi are allowed to participate in tours as well. There will be a lot of interactive activities and it would important for all shinobi to engage with each other as much as possible.

One month prior Tenzin relayed the information to the Kazekage on how many shinobi were coming, when they would be arriving, and how long they would be staying. A month was plenty of time for Sunagakure to prepare for this new adventure. After preparation and proper planning, the group of shinobi were ready to head out to Sunagakure no Sato. All of the Jounin stood in a line and did a role call to make sure all that signed up to attend were there and anyone who didn't sign up had a reason for being there. Once everything was in order, the Jounin helped assign caravan buggy's to each shinobi. This took a bit of time, but it allowed great organization even if there were some distractions or confusion. Once all of the Konoha shinobi were in their proper spots the caravan took off.

It took a few weeks. However, even those few weeks were filled with bonding between the konoha shinobi. Increased relationships with people they were already friends with, new friendships, new rivals, etc. After their travels the shinobi would start to feel a heavy change in the weather they were used to. Blistering hot days and dreadfully cold nights. Spending a few days in these conditions the shinobi from Konoha finally arrived in Sunagakure no Sato. Upon reaching the village the shinobi would be able to see a giant earthen wall with one notable entrance. They would also notice that the caravan would go through a single wide path carved with stone and descended down to the village. Once the caravan would arrive, Tenzin would exit the first cart in the front to give the papers required to the man at the gate. A few Sunagakure no sato guards would walk through the caravan and search through just to make sure it was really them. Once they finished, they gave the okay to come in. The entrance to the village resembled steps. All of the carriages would stop right outside of the entrance in the village. Upon stopping, all of the jounin and special jounin chaperones would go out first and role call to make sure everyone was with them. When everything came out fine, their first order was to all go to their assigned rooms and put their stuff down.

There was plenty of things to do in the village: Tours, Shopping, Drinking (for a few off duty Jounin that were of age), Interacting with shinobi of the same rank/age (it could be as simple as team building exercise, sparring, etc.) , and much more!

Welcome To Sunagakure!

[Open to Leaf and Sand Nin] The Caravan Arrives!

Narrative:
After the events of Connections Squad 15's first official mission is one of many trials, lessons & adventure as they navigate the foreign atmosphere of Wind country & Sunagakure aiding Suna's Shinobi on their routine patrols, developing new tactics in training exercises and establishing a friendly presence among Sunagakure's population which means that the team will get to explore, allowing them to socialize with natives of the region.

"Alright everyone, we've finally made it to the Village hidden in the Sand. Gather your belongings quickly so you may drop them off at the hotel and explore." It may not have been protocol to allow three Genin to roam free in a foreign village but Gene felt confident in his students. After all, they had passed HIS test; those three can handle themselves...I wonder what the medical center of this village looks like. An opportunity to study new medical concepts and practices could potentially help with saving the life of someone else down the line and not to mention, in helping out the medical staff with their patients Gene could help Konoha demonstrate a willingness to share information for the benefit of both nations as well. So it wasn't like he was completely goofing off...right? At any rate, once all of his gear and belongings had been loaded into the room where he would be sleeping for the night Gene did one last check on the team before leaving them to their own adventures. Gene's only concern was that he wondered how well the group could adjust to this uh - mild environment. It wasn't a secret that Wind country was a lot hotter than Fire country even in the winter months and the nights here were said to be unforgiving.

A closed mouth smile fixed to Gene's lips and the young man ran the knuckles of his right hand through his hair, stepping outside into the humid air of the desert. "I'm sure they'll be fine. I ought to ask about the hot spring when I get the chance." Shaking his head, Gene dismissed the idea. He knew that it was crucial that he made it to the hospital as quickly as possible.

"So they've finally arrived." From a view above street level through a large window the long white haired jounin sat at a study desk by himself currently, before him were a number of papers and unrolled scrolls with various things written on them. Having just recently returned to the ranks of shinobi the man needed to get caught back up on the happenings within and around the village that he had more or less pushed off to the side during his adventuring days. Using the slender fingers of the right hand to pull some of the mid back length hair out from before his bright blue eyes the man had placed a pen formerly in the grasp of the left hand down and simply gaze out the window towards the entrance of the village. There he could see the caravan of young Konoha shinobi with there escorts arriving now, it was a first for the village and in all honesty the man was surprised that it was his village who had offered to start off this partnership venture between the two villages, but the new Kage was a bit different than those who had come before him. "Hmm.."

The matured man couldn't help but hum lightly to himself in thought as he was able to notice one of the chaperons who were escorting some of the younger generation of Leaf shinobi on this day, it was precisely the man whom he'd encountered within the village who had such a strong desire to protect the village that it actually led to a bit of misunderstanding between the pair. Which was something the two of them had never really gotten a chance to work out between themselves due to Zao not having the time to make a return visit to the shinobi's home village since that incident due to being trapped in the spirit realms. Yet, there he was now. "I should probably go say hey to him at the least, it was Gene I think...yes it was." Tiding up the area a bit and storing away the scrolls he straighten out his robes and gathered up his two pets that had been playing around in the room with him as they slithered up either sleeve into a comfortable position upon his forearms now.

With everything in order there, the scholarly looking man exited the room and descended down a few flights of stairs before then leaving the building that he'd been working at and traveling down the familiar streets of his home village at a casual pace knowing where the Konoha nin were going as they still needed to be assigned lodging and other things. A short while later the man was approaching the building which the fellow white haired shinobi was stepping out of, quite a convenient thing for Zao now as he lifted his right hand in a casual manner to give a polite wave as he was still advancing across the street to the building. The Zao that Gene would see seemed to have aged at least four or five years from their previous encounter that was less than half a year ago probably, his short hair now reached his mid back and even his face seemed to have matured but his thin body remained the same as before. If one was looking closely they would have noticed when the slender fingers of the right hand emerged from the wide sleeve of the robe to wave that they were covered in what appeared to be fuuin marking. Another new addition was around his neck was a headband sporting his village symbol.

A soft spoken voice would drift from the man's thin lips, a polite smile formed on them before and after speaking his words to the fellow jounin now. "It has a been some time since we last met, I hadn't expected you to be escorting the young to the village. It was Gene, right?"

When Yozei had heard of the venture to Sunagakure he had made certain that his name was among the first on the list. As the son of the Hokage it would be advantageous for him to learn to cooperate with Konoha’s allies moreover the young teenager simply loved to travel. The opportunities to go out and see the world, even as a genin had been increasing dramatically in recent years all due to the alliances the 17th Hokage was building. Takeo had even told him that there would likely be a chance to work alongside Kumo shinobi within the next year. It all inspired Yozei to continue his training so that one day he could take on more of a leadership role within the village. The thought had even crossed his mind of following in his father’s footsteps to become Hokage some day.

Before that however he would have to become a Chunin. It had been 2 years now since he had graduated the academy and the feeling that he had to progress had been building up over the last few months. The boy worked hard certainly, though often found himself distracted and conflicted in his goals. He still thought about Suzume frequently, even fantasized about one day abandoning the village to roam the world with her. There too were thoughts about returning to the Royal Family, acting as a bodyguard or perhaps pressing for his claim to succession as Daimyo at some point in the future. There was a world of possibilities and little to ground him in reality. Even his own household and living situation was chaotic, living between two homes, one with his birth mother and the other with his father, step-mother, two half siblings and one adopted sibling with yet another adopted Hyuuga living separately and occasionally visiting the home.

Often Yozei isolated himself in his room, finding a great deal of peace in reading and sleeping or otherwise training outdoors. He didn’t help out with the twins nearly as much as Hanako though he did get along with them well enough, bonding most strongly with Kaori, the only one of his siblings who like him did not have white eyes of the Hyuuga clan but rather blue like their father. She was only 3 but full of energy, ever playful and friendly. She seemed to love everyone in the family with all her heart even as she leapt off of furniture and tried to climb everything alongside her minutes older twin brother Takeshi, whom constantly charged forward, tackling siblings and enjoying leaping out at people.

He found that whenever he did travel, both on his previous journey to Fur Country and the caravan to Suna that he did in fact miss his siblings though there was always something else to enjoy to fill that void. In this instance, though he did not have his father travelling with him, the Hokage’s personal bodyguards had been sent as chaperones specifically to watch over him. While at first he was hesitant to socialize much with the men he had come to enjoy their company. Both Toshiaki and Masuru were very close friends of Takeo and had a plethora of stories to share. Moreover they were each genuinely kind people who despite their experience and skill as shinobi were happy to joke around and treat him like family. By the time Yozei had arrived in Suna he had come to think of the two men as akin to uncles and he trusted them both completely.

The last few days had been the roughest part of the journey by far, travelling through the desert was horrible, dry, hot and completely miserable the pace slow and tiresome. Yozei had done little more than lay under cover and read. Fortunately Toshiaki could utilize Suiton jutsu, keeping water filled and soaking him down on occasion. Though there had been enough water brought along for the journey the large barrels tended to warm up quite a bit during the day making the water enough to stay hydrated but not properly refreshing. “I sure hope the people here are more welcoming than the desert” Yozei muttered to himself as he looked around at the copious amount of sandstone and lightly colored buildings. ‘Such a contrast to Konoha’ he reflected. He couldn’t imagine living in a place such as this. He wondered what Suna shinobi were like and how intensely they trained. Masuru chuckled lightly, standing 6’ tall, muscular and in flowing red robes with deep red hair the 33-year-old Awai looked more like a Sunagakure native than from Konoha. “I don’t know what you’re complaining about. I kind of like it, always warm and sunny. I could get used to this” he grinned, looking around for anything of interest. He had heard that Sunagakure shinobi worshipped the sun and light being an extension of that he would be lying if he said he didn’t intend to show off a bit and maybe bed a few women. Toshiaki on the other hand simply chuckled. “This is a momentous step for our two villages, lets see if we can make a few friends” stated the handsome middle-aged Senju, calm as collected as ever he would lead the group outward.

Shikado would be lying if he said he wasn't surprised to receive an invitation to visit Sunagakure no Sato. He wasn't the type of person who wanted to see the world, contrary to what his role as a shinobi may have been. Nonetheless, the young Nara saw this as a chance to expand his horizons a bit, and that by being invited, the village saw him as being responsible and trustworthy enough to make the most of the trip. To that end, he prepared himself, organizing lunches he'd, any small supplies he'd think he'd need, as well as other small items that may or may not have had use. The week leading up he made sure that all his affairs and work had been settled and done.

The trip itself was an experience, to say the least. His clothing resulted in him not suffering as much as others in the heat, yet at night he still shivered whenever a breeze rolled through their cart. He spoke little to his fellow Leaf shinobi, preferring to spend his time making notes about the environments they passed through. Things like landmarks, terrain, even animals, he'd write down a small blurb about, or do a little doodle of. Anything that'd be of potential use in the future. Besides this, Shikado actually allowed himself to relax a bit, spending the times between his waking hours catching on the sleep he would normally be sacrificing in the name of duty.

By the time they arrived to the village he was freshly rested several times over, and ready to see what the Village Hidden in the Sand had to offer. The very first thing he noticed was how full of life the village seemed- the natural streams and ponds that ran inbetween the streets and buildings, the green vegetation that co-existed with the architecture... really, their was little sand to be seen at all.

Once they'd all been allowed in and assigned their board and rooms, Shikado would put away his personal items in his room, before going to meet his chaperon, Yojinoka Saburo, or 'Ro', as the special jonin preferred to be called, out in front of their lodgings. Upon exiting the building, he find him waiting. "Been waiting long, Ro-sensei?" He asked in an attempted friendly manner."I had to make sure about few things before I came down."

Truth be told, this would be the first time Saburo had ever been out of his home country; and he was damn nervous about it. Even with the alliance between their two Villages, it was a long journey and his first assignment as a special jōnin. He even had been assigned to a Chūnin as a chaperone: Shikado of the Nara Clan. All around this was an honor if there ever was one. So to provide the best image he could, he took steps that he thought would help keep him at ease on the trip. He left his staff at home to not concern citizens with an openly displayed weapon. He cleaned his uniform and polished his headband to a shine. He left his pet bird Koshi with friends where he knew she would be safe. It was the most he could do, really, on short notice but he felt it helped tremendously.

As for the journey, once they crossed the border into the Wind Country he was more in awe than he would have expected. For all the desert he thought he would see out there he had to admit there was a sort of beauty to it. Sure, it was hot, but his coat thankfully did well enough to keep some of the heat off. Much of his travel time was devoted to reading, though, as the caravan winded around the dunes.

Upon arriving at the Sand Village in all its splendor, Saburo went first to attend to his sleeping arrangements during their stay. Nothing fancy, just the tucking away of excess luggage and to leave his coat as the Village's buildings were sure to provide adequate shade. Next, was to wait for Shikado by the door out to the streets. He busied himself with watching passersby -and wondering if his brother could have ever imagined seeing this place- while he waited, but was still thankful the young Chūnin didn't take long.

"Not at all," he responded. "I was just thinking about how we could spend our day. What do you think of seeing the markets? If you want a souvenir, it couldn't hurt to know about it as soon as possible. For budgeting reasons, yeah?" He ran his fingers back through his brown hair as he chuckled. A part of hoped he wouldn't bore the young man on this trip. He tried to assure himself it was just 'first assignment jitters'.

Masaru would stretch his limbs as he stepped out onto the sandy street. It was rather hot and he determined he'd have to he'd have to get some more appropriate clothing while he was there. The fist thing he noticed when he got out was his sensei taking off before the whole team had gathered. While he wasn't quite sure what to make of it as he was supposed to be their chaperone, it was really anything to concern him so he simply shrugged and moved on. He looked around for Niku wondering if she'd wear something other than her usual black clothes or if she'd exchange them for something a bit more practical in the blazing sun. As he looked around he had to admit the city was rather monotonous, the building's all the same color as the walls and the ground they walked on. With the blocky shapes of the building's Masaru thought he was like a rat in a maze.

While he was observing the city and taking in the sights, he noticed a group that included an elder of his clan escorting a young man. While he was unsure who the young man was he did recognize the elder of his clan. As such he ran over to say hi as he waited for Niku and Mayfuyu to show up. At least he was hoping they wouldn't take off together and leave him on his own.

"Uncle! Uncle! I'm surprised to see you here. I take it you're a chaperone on our little excursion here. Any thing you wanted to see or do while you're here?"

Asuma had finished up some intense training and took the last few days to rest. Upon his wake up from his slumber, he got dressed and put on his normal clothing for training. As he started leaving he had bumped into a few of his friends who were also shinobi. As they began talking he was intrigued as to why they were in such a rush. They both had a dumb look on their face and were shocked that Asuma wasn't informed about the konoha shinobi that were coming to the village. Asuma had gone from looking tired, to extremely energetic in a matter of seconds. He excitedly jumped up and ran with they two other shinobi to where the gates were. It was always a fascination to see something that was out of the ordinary and a group of leaf shinobi was definitely that.

Upon arrival, Asuma found so many different looking shinobi enter into the village. He saw adults, but also saw a lot of shinobi that looked the same age as him. "Wow" he thought as he witnessed the people coming to the village. He knew so little about konoha, maybe it was time he capitalized on this opportunity. With eagerness Asuma decided to go to a local lunch spot. He figured that if they would venture a bit and get hungry, then eventually someone would come! It was only a matter of time....

Huh...is that?...No, it can't be. Wait...is it?! This game of tug of war would continue inside Gene's mind all the way up until Zao had actually been close enough and speaking directly to him. Quite frankly if the man had said nothing at all Gene would have believed that he'd been staring at a completely different person but there was no doubt in his mind now, with that white hair and almost cartoonish elegance Gene could make no mistake that the person who addressed him was in fact the same space time Puppeteer who so kindly 'educated' him in the ways of masterful Chakra control. A formidable Shinobi in his own right and smooth enough to get on Takeo's good side the Zao that Gene remembered was a man of mild ambiguity; something between an aristocrat, warrior and Scholar it truly was difficult to get a thorough read on the guy.

And yet, here they were. "Yes that's correct. If I'm being honest I didn't expect to be sent out either but a field trip every now and then is a good thing." Gene responded calmly as he turned his head to look back at the caravan that had brought him and many others to the Desert country. When he could no longer see the back of the head of the person he'd been staring at Gene turned again to face Zao who smiled politely. Though he would never admit to it seeing the white haired man smile had easily risen to the top of Gene's list of most bizzare moments in history, just beneath being attacked by light hating forestation and climbing up the back of a serpentine after confusing it for a mountain ( what a day that was). "Actually, I was just on my way to try and find the hospital in order to find out if there's anything that I can help with." Gene continued, "Though it'd be a lot easier with an escort."

"Getting out can allow for one to reflect a bit." The matured version of the Zao whom Gene knew spoke back in return nod, giving a gentle nod of his head as the friendly smile remained upon the man's thin lips at the moment as he allowed for his feet to carry him closer to the fellow shinobi before stopping at a comfortable conversation range. Despite the snow white hair being tied up in a high pony tail atop the man's head the long locks of elegant hair still swept down to the middle of the young man's back but his bright blue eyes remained identical to those which had greeted the protector of Konoha on that day, yet they seemed to hold a certain sharpness which they had lacked on that day. This was due mainly to the experiences within the spirit realm that had helped to reforged the young man back into the shinobi caste where he found himself right now filling that jounin role once more.

"You have studied the medical arts?" The mention of wishing to find the Suna hospital building and help out with anything that he could truly peaked the scholar's interests as it had been something that he to had been doing, slowly working to improve his abilities with Iijutsu with a side study in the art of poison. There was a slight look of surprise on Zao's face as he asked, having not taken the Leaf jounin to be one who would care much about such things but it was true one could not judge a book by its cover. Only taking a moment to recover to his former smiling self the Sand-nin made a gesture to follow him with his delicate looking left hand now as he turned halfway waiting for his allied comrade to join him. "It's a bit of a walk, but allow for me to show you the way. I needed to speak with one of the doctors there about a question I had anyways." His soft and well spoken voice flowed nicely from the thin man's lips as he turned to walk at a casual pace towards the hospital with Gene in tow.

In truth he had wanted to explore the village a little first, to get his bearings a bit so he wouldn't be totally ignorant when the guided tours began. It also give them the chance to see some areas that may not be covered by the guides, freely and without trouble. But, there were some positives in visiting the market place. Talking with villagers, being able to learn about the village through their eyes... it was always easier in social areas. "Sounds like a plan. It's not everyday you get to browse another village's commodities. Might be something interesting to find."

With the sun at it peak in the sky with no clouds in view, made him glad he'd chosen to not wear his jacket, which though it was loose fitting, probably still would've made him hot. In place of his forehead protector, which was sown onto the arm of the jacket, he wore a spare one attached to some black cloth, which was tied around his forehead. "This heat is something, isn't it? I'd heard Wind Country had it rough when it came to how hot and cold it got, but is kind of ridiculous." He said as they walked down a street. Shikado had noticed the glances and whispers directed towards them as they went, and tried to go out of his way to be friendly.

The market place itself was a collection of shops and stalls, really no different than you'd see in Konoha. Vendors advertised their wares, trying to draw in customers eager to spend some of their money. His hand drifted to his side, feeling the weight of his wallet. He'd brought some money. Enough that he could browse and pick something up, but not enough that if it was stolen or taken that he'd be in a pinch. As they walked the street, the smell of baked goods and other foods wafted past his nose, causing a low grumble in his stomach, loud enough that Ro would be able to hear it.

Tapping his stomach and smiling sheepishly, he looked to his chaperon. "I.. uh, skipped lunch earlier. Was a bit distracted. Mind if we get something to eat as we go?"

And they were off. As it was the height of the day, the streets were teeming with citizens of the Sand Village both civilian and shinobi. It was a bit of a sight for him to see all these people out in such heat. Even without his coat, Saburo could feel the sweat beneath his flak jacket. The heat itself also made him walk at a leisurely pace in hopes of conserving his stamina. "It certainly is," he replied. "But it seems the locals have adapted to it. I think it really says a lot about them."

At the markets, the throng increased as small packs of people went from stall to stall. With a cautionary "Stay close," he led his charge into the chaos of the crowd. He wondered at what he could find here that wasn't back home; something simple like a small potted cactus, maybe? Or maybe some sort of decor or wall art. But, he thought, little Koshi would really appreciate if he brought home some seeds for her. He adjusted his headband against the sweat forming on his brow as he thought about the possibilities. But no sooner had he noticed the smell of fresh food had the young Nara's stomach spoken up and pulled him from thought.

Saburo sighed quietly as he thought for a moment. He realized that he must have forgotten as well. Part of the rush of freshly arriving, he imagined. "I don't see why not. I'm sure we'll find something. Why don't you pick out what you want?"

The trio of shinobi were about to depart to explore the village when suddenly a young brown haired Genin approached. Toshiaki smiled broadly, turning to see the young Senju, while the others seemed a mixture between slightly confused and indifferent. “Masaru! It’s good to see you nephew. Please, join us. Hmm, well of course I’d like to meet the people foremost but from a tourist perspective I look forward to trying new foods and taking in the sights of notable landmarks. Oh, also their academy, seeing what sort of curriculum they teach their shinobi would be an interesting thing to compare, especially for young ones such as yourself and Yozei to see.” He rattled off. He was perhaps the most excited for this opportunity of anyone in their small group. Toshiaki reveled in the excitement of the younger generation and felt immensely hopeful to be able to witness such a great step forward.

The crimson haired Awai seemed to take an interest in the newcomer now. "Masaru was it? That won’t be confusing at all” he chuckled lightly to himself. “Awai MasUru” he introduced, emphasizing the unique pronunciation of his name, only one syllable difference from the more common name that the young Senju had. Toshiaki chimed back in suddenly, “You must know Yozei, you two are both 14 now, isn’t that right?” he verified, meaning that they would likely have attended the academy at the same time. “Different classes. You do look familiar though. Natsuki Yozei” the auburn-haired boy introduced, bowing slightly in greeting before looking over the Senju. He was tall for his age and wielded a spear, an interesting style. He recalled that somebody on his sisters Genin team was a spear or staff user and if memory served he was a Senju. “You wouldn’t happen to know Hyuuga Hanako would you?” he wondered. The boy had never payed to much attention to the ongoing of others, mostly keeping to himself and thinking about his own training and the girl he had fallen for. Still, Hanako was his adopted sister and he did care enough to listen to her at least half the time.

At the approval of Ro, he'd begin making his way past the food vendors. Both familiar and foreign smokey scents filled the air, serving to only further the low grumblings of his stomach. His eyes glanced over the tables, trying to identify exactly what was being offered. At one vendor, they served what, by tell of what fell examples remained hanging above, was some kind of lizard. The smell reminded him of chicken, in all honesty.

"Hello, sir. How much for two of these... what exactly are they?" He asked.

The vendor glanced towards both Shikado and Ro, a noticeable irritation on his on his face. Obviously, he thought being questioned on what he served was a waste of time, and didn't intend to acknowledge.... which was until he noticed the Hidden Leaf symbols that were engraved within the two shinobis' forehead protectors, after which his face lit up immediately. "Oh! By your headbands you must be visitors!" He quickly beckoned over a helper, who'd begin preparing two servings of the lizard. "This is a popular dish among Wind Country. It's called a Red-Eyed Iguana. Their meat is tender and savory, while also being very filling. Usually, they are lightly roast on a open flame, with a combination of spices added to give it an additional... umph." The helper would come to the front of the counter, handing them two of the so-called Red-Eyes, which were about the size of a rabbit, covered in some sort of soft-bread wrap and seasoned with white and yellow flakes.

Shikado would take his cautiously, his fingers trembling at it. He was all but mesmerized by the smell, the sight, and the warmth of it, and could hardly wait to taste it. "How much do we owe?" The vendor suggested a payment not out of line with those seen in the Leaf, and so he paid without much trouble.

With there lunches in hand, he and Ro would continue down the street, with Shikado taking the first bit of it, and a look of surprise crossing his face. It would flush red as if he were blushing in embarrassment. Chewing the first bit and swallowing, he let out a exasperated sigh. "Spicy! This is a popular snack here?"

"Please, lead the way." Gene replied, opting to walk at a pace that would ultimately keep him at Zao's side as they navigated the streets of Sunagakure. Frankly, the Specialist was quite taken with this country's choice in structural design; most of the buildings that he'd laid eyes on captured him in some way, he could tell that the builders of each structure put a lot of thought and consideration into each design. After all...in this kind of climate one certainly wouldn't be pleased with any faults in their domain. However, the heat was an entirely different beast than what he was used to and on more than one occasion Gene found himself tugging at the collar of his shirt in an attempt to create some semblance of cool air. Despite his discomfort though Gene never complained, never groaned or moped about the situation - instead, he found pleasure in the things around him, namely the citizens who passed by. Between the two of them, there'd been more than enough women and a host of their angry men to stop and stare as the pair drifted on along towards their destination.

"The Hidden Sand is truly a beautiful place. Oh hey, are the vendors here as thrilled about the arts as they are back in my home land?" Gene asked as the two passed by a man with his goods tied to his back; clearly, the man had traveled great distances likely to acquire all sorts of rare items from unknown regions of the world. A part of Gene wondered if he could find the next installment of Cloud of sparrows here in Suna.

"Of course." Zao responded with a smile, the two men had a rather interesting back story as they had first met during the Fur country festival the year prior where the white haired scholar had been helping a minor countryman with pointer about ninjutsu, feeling that anyone who held the aptitude for learning ninjutsu should be taught it despite the collective feeling of the five great nations. Then there was that little incident within the village where Gene had reacted to detain him before the arrival of the Hokage, that was something the traveler wouldn't forget. Though they walked at what should have been a natural pace for shinobi like themselves, sometimes even the traveler forgot about how different the climate was here compared with the rest of the world. Yet, what was most interesting was the stares from women and men alike as the two white haired shinobi , one from either village, lingered through the overly crowded streets as many people were out and about due to the arrival of the Konoha shinobi.

Be it to sell them their wares, or simply to see the foreign shinobi there was definitely more people in the streets today than normal but to the Suna-nin is was good to see them all and the support that they gave to the alliance between the two nations. Having an ally was much better than being at odds with another village as the man took notice of the fellow ninja casually tugging at his collar as if trying to relieve the heat of the Wind country desert. "Perhaps you'd care for something to drink, there's a little stand next to the hospital that we can grab something. " Taking note of the man's body language he offered to purchase the Gene a refreshment of his choice at a little stand a bit further up near their destination. In response to the man's question about the vendors Zao nodded once in reply before speaking. "It truly is a beautiful place, much like your homeland, my friend. The vendors here come from many places and have a variety of things to display and sell but the rules on certain things are a bit more strict than Konoha. So, sometimes it might be hard to find things here that are common there."

He shrugged lightly as he spoke, each village had their own rules, though he wasn't sure exactly what it might be that Gene could be looking for as he paused only for a brief moment before turning his head slightly to the side allowing for his bright blue eyes to catch a glimpse of the shinobi as he spoke again, "Was there something in particular that you were looking for?"

While the heat had been hell to deal with Zao's suggestion to go for a drink had touched Gene's soul. If he were going to be spending a week in town then he may as well try to enjoy it! "Now you're talking! Nevermind shopping I can do that on my own time - lead the way to the drinks!" A smile, the first genuine smile that Gene had, formed and refused to go away as he found something to indulge in. He was sure that the kiddies could handle themselves and if things got too out of hand well...they were in the jurisdiction of Suna! Besides, baby sitting didn't suit him all to well to begin with. "While we're at it you can tell me about how the hell you managed to change your appearance so much. Not even the best transformation jutsu tops how drastically you've changed man - although...." A somewhat cartoonish look filled the man's eyes.

"Even with your new looks I bet I still could kick your ass from here to tuesday." A comment made in jest but there was also a competitive edge that couldn't be ignored, especially considering how their last encounter went. Moreover, now that Gene seemed willing to open up and let live he'd actually started to immerse himself in the atmosphere...although, that wasn't to say he could just ignore the heat!

Drinks? You just happen to be in luck, my friend. The Kazekage declared the time of Konoha’s visit a special occasion. Normally drinking is restricted to one’s home and not in public except on special occasions. We’ll be able to drink in the restaurant today, just another reason why so many people have turned out today to enjoy the festivities.” The man had a smile on his face, today truly was a good day as it allowed a bit less restriction on those within the village and it allowed for the youths of the allied villages to interact and begin developing relationships with one another that could allow for both villages to grow stronger in the future. As they continued to walk towards a quaint little place to get a drink that was just up ahead, Gene made mention of his change in appearance.

This was a reasonable question as it appeared that in the matter of only about four or five months since his visit to the Leaf village that had stirred up a bit of trouble and confusion for the Suna-nin, he’d aged probably five years and his formerly short hair now reached almost all the way down his back when now styled and secured in a high ponytail like it was today. But even Zao could only make estimates for how long Nori and he had actually been trapped within the spirit realms when their journey had went off course from its planned route. The mention of this caused for a brief change to appear on in the bright blue eyes of the noble looking man, as though he was reflecting on something due to the mention from Gene just now. Yet, before he could respond the fellow shinobi jested to him about how even with his new looks he’d still be able to kick his ass.

Haha, that sounds more like the Konoha-nin I remember meeting back in your village that day.” Zao could only laugh light heartedly in response as he then replied, the competitive nature of Gene was a good quality to have and he was able to remember from first-hand experience that the man walking next to him was someone you couldn’t disregard when it came to tactics or skill. The slender, tattoo fingers of the left hand rose from the side and onto his hairless chin as though thinking about something now. After a few moments a smirk quickly appeared on his thin lips now and he shifted his bright blue gaze back to the corner of his eyes and onto to Gene and spoke with his normal soft voice. ”Perhaps you’d like to swap pointers, again? I've brushed up on my skills a little bit since our last meeting.” The little smirk remaining on the man’s lightly tanned face as he looked over to his ally…

Gene had not realized just how different in custom that Sunagakure was in comparison to Konoha until Zao mentioned his village's policy on drinking; accustomed to seeing many frolicing about, often in the height of day drinking to their heart's content Gene was unaware of how truly fortunate he and his people really were. Of course, he had heard rumors and small tales here and there but those were hardly anything worth considering - or at least, he'd been led to believe. Now, hearing Zao's own testimony Gene wondered more about the contrasts between their nations and the curiosity gave birth to a new sensation, a thirst for knowledge so great that he may as well have drowned himself trying to get his fill. A crack in the dark was beginning to filter light through; and with it, a ray of hope for new acquaintances. "Really? I guess we should indulge all we can then!"

If nothing else, it was great to see the man who'd Gene had come to respect due to his prowess in strange ninjutsu brimming with life and luster despite their previous...disagreements. In hindsight, Gene realized that he were out of line later he would learn from the very Genin themselves that they had asked the man for training and that in his desire to help them grow he'd showcased his unique capabilities. Gene might have been one of Konoha's up and up Shinobi but he was still just a teenager at heart with far too many things to learn. Of course there was the saying that wisdom could only be acquired through experience and Gene had the budding suspicion that he'd be gaining A LOT of experience in the coming days.

"Sounds like a plan to me. I'd like to see just how much you've developed since then - I'm sure it'll be a tough fight! But first..." Gene sighed and then smiled, "You gotta tell me how you put up with this heat so easily."

"Haha, we probably should do that while we can." Zao quickly made mention back to his companion's words about indulging their selves with the mention of alcoholic beverages, as the two pasts one might have thought that the two men had always been on good terms, perhaps even where friends despite not being from the same village. The Suna-nin found the man to be a rather interesting figure and one that he planned to work with to establish a better relationship than the pair had started off on during their first couple of encounters. When asked the end question about how he put up with the heat the white haired shinobi couldn't help but let out a light hearted laugh towards Gene as he turned his gaze on the man. Shifting his bright blue gaze up and down the man for a brief moment as they walked he replied in a simple manner. "Well, part of it being acclimated to the weather here and the second is wearing the right clothing." Zao made a motion to his clothing that was made of light weight, breathable material with nothing to tight to the skin to allow for air flow and circulation within the robes he wore with wide sleeves. "But lets head to a place out of the way..." With those words the young man took off, not at full speed but at a speed above the normal jounin skill level leaving Gene to follow in trace, it was time for the two to have a bit of fun.

"R-right..." Gene stammered in response to Zao's comment about his clothing. If dressing up like a priest was what it took to be comfortable in this country then forget it! Gene would have much rathered to walk around in the natural before donning anything that could drag across the ground or make him look shorter than he already was. No, surely this village had...better clothing options? As Zao took off Gene could be seen blitzing right behind him, leaving a burst of wind to disperse across the ground where the man had leapt from the ground and into the air. "Oi! Toshiaki! Look after the kids will ya?!" He'd shout before disappearing into the village proper.

It was time to kick off his stay in Sunagakure the RIGHT WAY!
