phpBB [video] "Now...lets begin." Well beyond the village limits and sufficiently far enough away from any frequented travel routes, a lone Shinobi from Konohagakure was about to commence his training in full bloom. For the safety of Konoha's citizens and his own semblance of privacy Gene had decided not long ago that he could no longer occupy any of the training grounds within one hundred meters of the village less he place them all in immediate danger. However, that wasn't the only reason he'd taken to remaining so far away; for if any rogue Shinobi happened to be floating through believing themselves capable of dropping under the radar he would find them and without question, he would kill them. Gone were the days where he could afford to be lax in enforcing Konoha's policies and the protection of its people, his people. Many in today's era were much too young to recall with any reliable clarity the event of Konoha's greatest folly but Gene remembered and etched the memories of those who'd fallen during that mishap into his heart and mind so that he could never forget.

So long as there was breath in his body he would never allow anyone to cause the kind of catastrophe set in motion by Enma and Fushinkou Yaku ever again. Be they blood of his blood, flesh of his flesh or not; anyone who dared trifle upon the legacy built by his forefathers and fallen comrades would feel his wrath, Gene didn't if that meant staining his hands again and again if that was what it took to preserve their will. Now that he had finally steeled his resolve the youthful Specialist disrobed himself of the Deep sea blue Haori and brownish-green long sleeved shirt, hanging them both up on a nearby tree for safe keeping. With only the carbon fiber black long sleeved under shirt and black Hakama bottoms(of which were wrapped securely from the upper calf down to the ankle via white bandaging) he could feel the ever present chill of the environment. A feeling he noted, that made him feel free like an Eagle soaring toward the heavens. He had not removed the black mask that covered the lower half of his face nor did he remove the deep sea blue scarf tied around his neck but he had been tempted to remove his greaves due to their torturous effect. Ever since I found these damned things they've done nothing but bring me discomfort..no, that's not it. There's something strange about them that I can't quite place. No matter, I'll work around it.

And so he did. Gene closed his eyes and focused on opening his mind's eye; something that in truth, hadn't at all been necessary as he could easily harness the power of his inner eye without the need to shut off his true vision but doing so made shutting out any distractions easier. Consumed by darkness the snow haired Jounin embraced the solidarity, finding himself submerged in an endless field of emptiness that seemed to span well on into the ends of time - wherever that might have been. As his reach continued to project further and further he began seeing flickers of blue flame; many of these beacons were small, the barely discernible life source existent within animals and other lesser creatures. However, just as his mind's eye were about to reach the pinnacle of its range Gene detected a Chakra signature that eclipsed any animal that he'd discovered in the forest and it gave him pause. "This Chakra...it's far too potent to be a civilian." Gene's eyes opened and immediately afterwards his hands formed into a cross like shape; for now, a Shadow clone would have to do.

Seven minutes later "This is where the source of that chakra originated from, I'm sure of it." Following the direction of where the considerably sized chakra source had originated had not been much of a task. However, Gene's skill with Sensory arts had dulled much to his disdain and he could not discern the exact location of where it'd come from. Instead, he'd tracked it as close as he could which led to a tree dense snow covered area just twenty five meters South of where his original resided; a ways off from the village by just seventy five or so meters it'd still been close enough at least for him to pick up on it and just large enough to warrant his attention (21). Now that he'd come all the way back Gene intended to confirm with his own eyes just who that chakra belonged to; after all, that was part of his job. "Come out! If I have to search for you then you won't like the end result," exclaimed the Shadow clone. He'd been scanning the trees top to bottom and searching for any tracks to follow but being closer to the village meant more tracks and he couldn't be certain which had actually belonged to the one he was searching for.

To his surprise though, there'd been another Signature that rivaled the one he'd initially come searching for (20). Now he had questions; two chakra signatures of which were well beyond the capacity for a non Shinobi...(1-4 average). However, considering the direction where he'd felt each signature Gene had been willing to concede that both were more than likely Konoha Shinobi and that would have explained why they'd be traveling so far out -- in the same breath though, he needed to verify his concerns or folly with his own eyes.

The sensor will activate their sensory jutsu, and then do an additional set of hand seals. By doing so, the user will be able to compare the “strength” of each source of chakra they are able to sense to each other. The “strength” of the individual is determined by the average of each person’s Stamina, Control and Strength stats. The user can determine who has more chakra strength than others, allowing them to pick out possible risks. This technique is not very reliable as a determining factor, however.

Introduction: Friend or foe; Gene meets Himiko & Yamatsuki

Post by Pogonophile » Sun Dec 02, 2018 10:19 pm

Like always, Ms Himiko of the Hyuuga clan was not exactly the type to train within the confines of her village. She just enjoyed the calm nature of the forests. It lacked people that caused distractions and created the noise that could ruin her concentration. This was especially the case in situations in which she was actively working on something she deemed herself quite weak in. And today, of all days, was in the subject of Katon. Or more commonly referred to as the Fire Release. Very fitting of her given and surname, the girl was born with an affinity towards flames. But in her seventeen years up to this point, she never really took the attempt to practice let alone master harnessing its heat for her own. Every time she tried only resulted in it to blow up in her face...literally. Though they were faint, she actually had slight scarring on her cheeks from the last time she attempted learning the element and failed. This time would be different. She packed some bandages and burn salve as well as a simple scroll that should teach her the basics. It couldn't be that complicated. Hell, it was a D-Rank for Heaven's sake.

Rolling the scroll out and practicing the simple hand sign kata a few times before she truly got it down pack, the girl gave her first attempt. Holding the tiger seal, she channeled chakra into her lungs before exhaling the heated air. It ignited upon reaching oxygen into...well...a very small flame. Hell, the thing barely was able to melt the snow. If that wasn't frustrating, she really didn't know what was. Each time she tried the girl pushed forth a different amount of chakra into the mix. She knew she was holding back. Psychologically, she was simply afraid of putting in too much into it and having it misfire like it had in the past. But facing her fears was one of the reasons she was out here. By the fifth attempt the fireball was small, but definitely hot enough to make the snow poof upwards into a small collection of steam. She was getting somewhere! If someone could see her mental self they would merely notice her jumping for joy. She had a lot of work that needed to be done, but this was at least a start.

All this succeeded in was the girl getting lost in her own head as she released fireball after fireball. Her amble control was really helping her figure things out once she began to grow more and more comfortable with the nature transformation. Hell, the heat from the spheres was able to create a nice clearing where the snow evaporated away just to reveal the forest floor. As she formed the seals for her twelfth try, a certain voice caught her off guard. The only issue with this was the fact she had already begun molding the chakra. Without even thinking of what consequence it might cause, Himiko simply turned to face the general source of the sound just as the heated air pushed itself past her lips. Without a hand to properly guide its direction, it launched it in what could best be described as a "random arc" towards this mystery voice. Of all times to actually use the technique correctly, this was not the time. But lo and behold, there went the fireball of the right size, speed, and strength zooming off to potentially collide with some mysterious man within the snowy trees. Part of her honestly wanted to get up and cheer for using the technique correctly. But the other part quickly began to realize the error in her ways. Dammit...this is why I don't train around people, she thought just before exclaiming a "Look out!" Whether it was fast enough of a warning to avoid a flaming orb of hot energy or not, she was unsure. But that's what you get when you interrupt a girl when she's shooting fire from her mouth!

The thought that the voice could be an enemy truly didn't cross her mind. All that did was the fact that she had shot a fireball towards someone and that they could be hurt. In her little mental panic, Himiko reached into her bag to grab those ointments and bandages she thought she would need for herself and darted towards the site the fireball had impacted. Her little scatter brained self didn't even think to utilize her Byakugan to find the person, see if they actually needed assistance, or even if there were others in the immediate area that said voice actually was referring to. The young Hyuuga might have the potential energy levels expected of a Chuunin but she definitely was on the inexperienced side. No wonder she was still a lowly Genin.

Introduction: Friend or foe; New leaves emerge!

Post by Hokami » Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:15 am

The life of Yama was a sad and very lonely one. A boy misunderstood with no immediate family. Now growing into being a man, he has no wife and works doing side jobs rather than ninja missions in his free time. He was an artist, who was very dedicated too his craft of making marionettes. A lost trade among Hyuuga that he inherited off of his immediate family who some of those had difficulty activating their Byakugan and had taken to using a long line of hair orientated jutsus to great degrees of skill. They would use them mostly for sensory techniques which would grant them the ability to detect in a similar fashion to that of the other more main family Hyuuga. Some rare ones like him and his sister gaining the ability to use the famed dojutsu were seen as prodigies in their youth as they seemingly had an instinctual drive to learn and develop ninjutsu that worked with their inherited Jyuuken techniques. Despite this, That was a long time ago and Yama had lost some of the shine of his potential. He had spent a lot of time simply learning how to make puppets, rather than work on his ninja skills. It could be said that back when he was a student and graduated two years ahead of his class, he was sharper and more on the ball. With the loss of his immediate family though, even with his willpower. Had made him depressed, As much as he would like to be more capable of achieving his goals, he would spend a long time feeling numb, worthless and cursed. Like a victim, he would feel that the world had turned against him on the day that his sister passed. It effected his processing skills mentally, It had caused him to be unable to preform some of the most basic jutsu even in his 20s. He had done a lot of things to cope with the pain of loss but they all seemed to push more and more people away from him. He felt trapped in a shell of flesh that should of died with his family. He was kicked out of several squads just due to him not meshing well. Someone who was his age, should have a far more develop Byakugan, Especially one with his initial talent for Jyuuken that allowed him to graduate from the academy so young. This is why he was mostly known around town as the shame of the Hyuga clan. Despite this, the resentment grew to change him in someone who doesn't care or appreciate the rules that people make for him. He would break the rules to live a life worth living for him and he would allow no one to stop him. He would not dedicate his skills purely to ninjutsu anymore, he would begin to become a master carpenter capable of recreating the cherished loved ones that he had lost. He would spend many sleepless nights studying and studying, all of that talent being poured into refining the ability or the dream that he could be one day closer to them. Today, he has made two working ninja tool puppets based on the designs of them from memory. However in the determined passion to reach the goal he had lost a bit of his sanity. He wouldn't even really know what they looked like anymore, It was so long ago that nowadays.

Does he really remember who his family was? What they looked like exactly? His mind had gone under a lot of stress and trauma and depression that, It wasn't all that clear nowadays. He would often pick up strange hobbys that he would follow with a feverish passion to complete now and again that really could get him in trouble. One day he wanted to go grave robbing, He investigated where some of the ninja bodies were stored and he did all that it could take to go in and get a body that he could use to research but he didn't. The idea was completely ridiculous as well, He couldn't maintain the bodys and stop them smelling. Within the Hyuga compound one must deal with living in a place where there are no walls. There is no privacy, however despite some of them being able to see him within every waking moment he is in the compound. They know deep down in their hearts, that he must be doing something that they can't see.. the reason why though is.. all the crimes are within his head, his imagination. They did have some things to say about the puppets though, they found quite dishonorable that he would specialize in foreign copied techniques that do not represent the might of the Hyuga clan. So he was interrogated a few times, All of his answers quite suspicious but who were they really to tell him how and how not to mourn his family. Part of him, just wanted to be understood and accepted, The constant judgement and disappointment of others really did have an effect on him. Despite being a prodigy within the academy, they would often bully him for being a little bit off. If they couldn't beat him at talent, They could surely beat out and mock his feelings. Back when he was young, He couldn't really think of his nindo when they talked about it in class but if he would say now it was probably to make his family proud of him. The fact his extended family does not appreciate him does not bother him as much. In ways he was still young at heart and playing with his emotions now was the only thing that made him feel like he was still alive. That he was still human if he were to feel things like happiness or fear, often noting them. He kept most of his records about how he felt and his activities in his sketch book. He needed to note a lot things down, he had to give a purpose as to why he carries around puppets, he had to make them into ninja tools. He often longed to be held or hugged when he was alone so he went about designing them around, enclosing on the enemy. Hugging them is how he would put it, someone else might say entrapping them and smothering them. The family members he designed these around were the females in his immediate family, he felt the female aspects of hugging fit them quite well. Perhaps when he made his father they would be more of a combat orientated model rather than one that was based around a quirky gimmick that he had became quite fond of during his contemplation. He wanted to bring them to life in his own way, the inner workings of a puppet was a hard one. For a normal ninja, who doesn't have to think about mechanisms and engineering it could possibly bore them to tears. However for the sad little Yama he found himself gaining a sense of intuitive aptitude.

There was a joy for working hard for something he found in working on them, though many wouldn't call him a genius for with what he has accomplished in combat efficiency, they however might perhaps be blown away by the accuracy of the design of the models in terms of height and shape. He made all of the pieces individually, purchasing wood to work with and tools to use to put them together. Long nights spent twiddling away. He could very well still be a genius, He just needed the inspiration to become determined about improving his abilities. He had long started to suspect that they would stop putting him in squads or assigning him any missions, he was very much worried about this as he needed the money to maintain his mother and sister and make improvements on them. Some things he has asked for in their creation, they have in fact been completely denied from purchase due to his rank and track record as a ninja. The last draft for a chunin exam, he never made it too the cut as he was not part of a squad and every single other attempt at the exam he had failed or got his team disqualified due to some seemingly deliberate error. This was all part of his ruse though, he knew that one day to accomplish his nindo he would in fact perhaps need to make himself a criminal of Konoha. In that event, he would be hunted and killed for his crimes. He would need to bide his time and learn how to defend himself, Yes in fact he was generally more skilled than most ninja in ninpou and taijutsu. He was even capable of learning Genjutsu if he really buckled down and put his mind to it. However he didn't want to draw attention to himself, he was happy waiting for as long as it took for him to feel comfortable to achieve his goals. What could be his crimes you ask? Well he had grown to watch people without their permission and he had heard of an illegal form of puppetry in the land of Suna. In Suna puppetry was very much so quite common, there had been statements that he had heard from passing ninja and those he had interacted with there away on missions and that was that there was in fact a craft of puppet made out of a human body. That information probably was what was most harmful too the psyche of Yama, He would research practitioners and if that act was possible by his methods.

Researching the jutsu took a lot of detective work to track down, him questioning some people on the subject that he knew had information about Iijutsu or the puppetry techniques. The legality of the technique was a double edged sword, though information of it's practice and method was forbidden and hidden, the practitioners deaths and incarceration was easier to find. Then he would use the names of these individuals and what he could find in the bingo books about them to research their creations. Achieving the ability to make human puppets, it would make him one step closer too his dream. He would often do his research in public library as he could never be caught with such notes in the Hyuga compound. He would memorize the information to memory, Never wanting to leave anything behind so he may be caught. To others in his squads, he always came off as a goof with a sense of humor, some more perceptive could always gain that he was always sort of off. He would never work as a team and seemingly in sparring he would come at his teacher and fellow squad members with an almost homicidal intent, however he'd always brush it off as nothing but an accident. The last big accident was the one that left him without as squad for the chunin exam last time. He had trapped one of his peers forelegs in a bare trap like apparatus that he was testing out in a spar. He was over come with a strange blood lust because the young 12 year old boy was able to strike him on the chin, something he did not quite enjoy too much. It was very much unlike him to snap at fellow peers. He resigned himself following and tended to the boy's wound after the event, them often asking him why he quit the squad. Maintaining his identity was key for his survival and he had became so paranoid that he'd become somewhat of a coward. Not wanting to risk anything in the slightest.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To one viewing him from the outside it really was hard to interpret Yama, He really wasn't one of your run of the mill Hyuga. There weren't many of the prodigys like him in Konoha, He could probably be referred to as a failure. Himiko might of seen him several times whilst living at the compound, minding his own business. It was usually advised by most Hyuuga to stay away from him if at ever possible. His bloodline cursed. However beyond that he was somewhat considered a handy man. He was capable of dealing with anyone's need with help with ninja tool maintenance in return for a simple sum of a few yen. He uses most of this yen to pay his rent and keep his workshop within the Hyuga compound. He was somewhat like a creepy janitor or a foreman that just seemed to skulk in the corner of one's eyes or in the distance. He made puppets in his workshop resembling both his sister and mother in appearance. Not that any of the people of the Hyuga could remember how they looked. A lot of them were ashamed of him only being Genin for a total of ten years now. He was happy just being at the bottom of the card when it came to Ninja. Idley biding his time and waiting for the day that he can realize his dream. Until then everything would go into attaining that dream no matter what. In that way he had the will of fire. Was he a ticking time bomb? Was what he did ethical... or right? Is he criminal... does he have the intention to harm others. These things always came up in his head but they never sparked shame. He didn't take being a ninja very seriously. He was more than a ninja. He was an artist, A carpenter, A sculpter and a craftsman more than anything. The only thing that gave him solace is that perhaps he could make some form of thing that would in fact make him not feel so alone..Nothing really seemed to help him nowadays. Sleepless nights knowing the ones that he loved could possibly never come back was what made him into the creature he is. Slowly but surely he would achieve his goals.

"Look sister... How pretty..."

He often spoke a lot to his sister when he was alone or excited. It comforted him, it made him feel safe. He liked to role play that she was still there watching him and keeping him safe from all that would harm him. I mean, if god exists, he would know all the sins that he had imagined doing in the sake of his nindo and of course they had done nothing to stop him thus far. So that would mean it was ok, His sister Tama was protecting him from all the bad evils that could prevent him from his true, Pure and honest way of life. Though people might not understand, he considered them philistines. Not that he would say this too their face mind you, he kept that too himself. He did not need to be understood, Perhaps if they did, they would shun him and hurt him. He couldn't deal with the hassle, what if they thought his research was a crime. Was stalking a crime? He really didn't take the time to check but here he was, day 2 of following a teenager around the woods. If he were to get caught... the excitement made him feel alive...

It was getting farther into the day, The travels his research requires had ended up in his person being quite awhile away from Konoha. Just like the day before when he watched the ninja fail the technique, Oh how much he wanted to save her when she hurt her precious skin and face. It was unacceptable, even though he could of came out of the bushes... what could she of thought of him? She'd be keeping an eye on him from then, that was also unacceptable. His beloved muse always seemed to keep moving, It was quite the bother. The shade and the surrounding foliage made great cover and shielding from sight for an experienced Genin like himself to track down his muse him believing it was enough for Himiko not to notice him the previous day. She wasn't one who had achieved the ability to keep her Byakugan on for any length of time longer than himself so the potential that she would see him due to the distance between them was fairly small unless she were to perhaps look directly at him. They were all alone... seemingly. She was all alone directly where he might want her... if he wanted to kill her. He had though about homicide ever since he seen her heavenly like figure. It had drove him to come out all the way here. If he could just decapitate the head... he could put a puppet head on it... It be oh so fine. He didn't quite like the face though.. Such a dark face... stern. He knew that she probably could of never of seen him watching her. He remembered only the kindness of his sister so that dark angry like appearance had to go. Was it all a persona though? He would have to peel back the skin and see what's underneath that mask.

"Her body would do good... to bring you back to glory..."

Yama wasn't one to rest though when his curiosity had been peaked, he had a lot of research to do. Little did one of his cousins know was that they had became a big subject of their research. Yesterday, he noticed a young girl that reminded him of his sister from across the courtyard within the Hyuga complex, Ever since then he has been taking his time to procedural stalk her between what ever small jobs he had that day. Upon looking on her small frame and face in private, he could note all of them down in his sketch book. He would sketch out every single inch of her body, top to bottom. Record her Katon Affinity, Her time using the Byakugan, every single limb measurement plus overall height. The whole task of researching had started to have an effect on the cobwebs in his head, The more he did it the faster he could do it. The more he tried to remember between odd jobs at home, the more clear the image of her stood in his head. He particularly was not one of the kinds of folk who would allow such a beautiful specimen get out his sight even if he was tired, Yama had taken the initiative to begin watching his precious cousin. When she decided to leave Konoha, he would also begin to follow post haste as he was not done with his sketchs. Perhaps he could catch her in a moment of weakness as well... do the decapitate thing... or better yet. He was thinking of homicide again... it was bad. He had to stop thinking of murder all of the time he got excited. Knock her out and do some sketchs when she's still, if she is unconscious she wouldn't do all this running about and the like. She could possibly use up all of her chakra reserves training by herself... that could knock her out and then he wouldn't have to do the act himself... or she could knock herself out with the flames... so many ways he could be innocent and he'd get his research. His imagination was running. Oh how she was so cute. Yama was not really one for girls, He was very much the kind of person who was married to his craft, However in his 20's now he was very much growing towards the kind of person who had quite a strange reason for liking others. For example, the reason why this research gave him such joy, the idea of getting caught often made his heart and mind race, She could look at him at any time and what would he have to say? Nothing much... she could catch him more than once? Would she stop a fellow ninja? It all made his imagination race. He'd often like to imagine it as he went about his business the thought of himself being caught, the emotions that would surge through him and make him feel so alive. He often liked studying the female cousins of his, He much yearned to find one that would help also his mother come to life again. He didn't talk about this with others, yet he would often bring his puppets out of his family in public and speak too them affectionately. He was known for that at least, He liked hiding in plain sight for all to see. In his sketch book he had a lot of people in Konoha that he had studied for his research fully complete. He often would stand outside the bath houses and look in with his Byakugan and note down all of their features. His sketch book being found could likely lead him into trouble, but with the fact that he sculpts marionettes he had an alibi.

Seemingly when they came to the clearing where she would train, it would seem as if she had began to believe she was all alone in the area by herself and the quiet of the woods, how wrong she was to come to that conclusion. How naive, He worried now if he was a little bit more broken how vulnerable she could be in a situation like this, That was not allowed. He would need to make sure she was safe, He wasn't able to cast Iijutsu yet so, if she were to do something like get injured! All the way out here, Who would make sure that she was ok... Who would make sure she was safe he thought. He was a good cousin, Better than she deserved. He was very appalled about the burns on her body that she retained as well from the night before, having much distaste for them, Burns on the face were very unladylike. How could she risk doing such dangerous ninjutsu when she has her family worrying about her, coming out here all alone no less and preforming them. He did understand though a little, The embarrassment of perhaps being seen as a failure in front of others and how difficult it would be to shake their opinion. Perhaps they were more a like than he had originally though in the first place, she was quite old for a genin now.. and she wasn't married like he was. Perhaps they were destined to walk similar paths in the future, Yama could not see what was in the future. The burns were kind of why he wanted to decapitate her, That would teach them for bruising themselves in the after life. They would know the next time in their reincarnation not to leave themselves in a situation like this. She would lay out a scroll and begin practicing hand seals from the day before, watching her he could not help but clasp his hands and pray that she would succeed, he really wished she wouldn't hurt herself once more. He could not help but notice the specific seals out in his head as he watched. He didn't note them down or know specifically what they were for but his mind was getting quicker due to all the excitement and activity that was going on, it seemed that in all his study, contemplation and excitement that it had begun to make him think quicker. What a thrill, In silence and the darkness of the shade. Though perhaps not really, his mind was racing... his heart was racing with excitement. His thoughts felt so clear, what would he do to chase this feeling more and more. He would have to make this a hobby. After the first attempt, he calmed down a little, by around the fifth he was less worried about if she would hurt herself anymore and more purely on the fact that this was now getting boring. His excitement was going down and he was becoming more calm. She seemingly did not have any nack for the ability of ninjutsu that he did, He had to study ninjutsu... when he got out of the academy it was the only thing that would allow him to achieve the first step within his Nindo. Thinking about it he would remember all the lonesome nights that he was sitting in his workshop alone, unable to make the puppets he had made of his sister and mother hug him. How cold it was... not to guide them to pat him on the back and remind him of how hard he was trying to make them perfect. It all made him very sad for a moment, until suddenly though, she was finally capable of preforming the jutsu with some grace. All those clumsy attempts behind her she blew a big fireball seemingly at some dude who had popped out. Dang, he had never even seen or heard that dude coming. He was somewhat in awe that someone had been able to track them both this far outside the village's door. He would deposit his sketch book into the interior of his Sister through an opening in her mouth. He began to shake with excitement, How strong a ninja could that man be? Is he a detective? How long had been watching them.. or him. It was time to calm down though, He was great at being calm. He cleared his throat in somewhat a rather gentle high pitched way as his voice had went up several octaves in a way to react to his anxiety. He had a guilty nature, he was generally terrified in a strange way, often becoming quite nervous over the smallest of things.

"Ah.. He...he hem!"

Right after he had spoke Himiko had spat hot fire at the strange ninja whom had burst from the surrounding area. He decided it was best just to assume he'd be able to take care of himself as he began coming out of the bushes he was in several feet away. In his arms was a human sized marionette doll which he was carrying hugged tightly by the waist by his arm. It was somewhat like a young boy carrying a teddy bear. Despite this he was even older than the more elite ninja, him acting this way was borderline creepy but he was still some distance away. He would make his way up too the two and he would smile widely as he looked at them with a daft look on his face. He would take his sister Tama's hand and he would lift it up too wave at the two.

"Oooh it seems I've been caught...looking after my little cousin, You shouldn't play with fire so much Himiko, You had your beloved cousin so worried about you he followed you all the way out here to make sure you were ok, Plus look Himiko, Your other cousin Tama is here, she's been worried you might hurt yourself too, oh we were so worried about you.."

He would speak in quite a cheery and queer fashion as he would talk about his worry for Himiko's well being after she blasted the other fellow leaf ninja. He would then hug Tama more intimately as he would rub his head into their breast seemingly all excited about being around this new stranger and the Hyuuga as he would stop and turn too them.

"Oh I'm sorry, sis helps me calm down. I'm oh so nervous... I hope you don't think I'm weird Himiko but after I seen your burns... Sis told me I should follow you and make sure you are ok...She made me do it, But I also wanted to do it ok? I don't want your parents worried about you..."

He would state as he would move around his sister Tama seemingly like she was alive, Obviously it didn't have a moving face but the arm that was hugged around it's waist now had it's left arm and his right hand was around it's right wrist, He would pose the marionette as he spoke to add somewhat a dramatic effect, He was seemingly a bit eccentric and likely didn't notice how weird it was. It was almost comical in a strange way, the puppet giving Yama a sassy hand wave when he spoke about forcing him to follow her. He would stop and then hug onto her once more as he propt her up a little over him.

"Are you alright mister ninja?!"

He called out to the other person that had appeared, not genuinely that worried about him. Yama felt that Himiko's fireball even if done well would likely be pretty weak and he'd be able to handle himself. What was important now was that he was out in the open now for both of them to now see him and know that he was there. His imagination though had began to spike about how they might think of him, what did they feel? What were they going to do? Life really was a roller coaster of endless excitement. Maybe this ninja could help him with his studies, Perhaps Himiko would be his friend and he wouldn't have to watch her from the bushes anymore. He really wished everything was much more convenient for his goals, perhaps being quite honest with perhaps a little white lie here and there he could end up making some allies. He didn't have many friends, likable yes but when anyone would start to become too close he'd get paranoid that they were on too him and begin to instinctively push them away, He was quite unremarkable so in fact they usually never came back afterwards. Usually leaving him too himself, in a lot of ways though he still yearned for companionship and time to talk to people from other perspectives so that one day he might be understood. It was perhaps now time for him to stop living in the shadows and start running towards the light and make himself more apparent in Konoha.

His life in essence is constant chaos and a chess game with insanity.

Gene heard the flames crackling in the distance before he'd actually saw the chakra construct coming though that did no miracles to abate his surprise. After all, he never would have expected to be the target of a Fire style ninjutsu, even if it wasn't deliberately aimed for him. More than that he'd been surprised and relieved to see that his suspicions about the source of of Chakra he'd honed in on belonged to mere Genin; without having spoken a single word to the duo he Gene recognized their potential due to the potency of their energy and that truly was something to be grateful for...still, he would have to tell the person responsible for his current predicament to use better aim. As the fiery mass made its way toward him Gene could feel the radiance of its heat but realized immediately that it severely lacked the power necessary to do any real harm. As luck would have it, Katon elemental techniques were a specialty of his and the novelty of having a Katon jutsu bearing toward him was not lost on the young man. "I see, so that's what I sensed before."

Just when it looked as though the flames were about to slam dead center into the snow-haired man something both awe inspiring and incredibly strange happened right before their eyes. As if to be some kind of apparition the man's form blurred in what could have been described as streaking black lines and in the next moment, Himiko's Katon jutsu slammed hard into the tree with an audible roar burning the base of the tree and scattering flames across the ground though, those were easily snuffed out by the wet snow before they could begin to spread. From an observer's perspective it would have looked like the flames met their unintended target and that probably wouldn't have boded well for the young Hyuuga's frantic state but she wouldn't be allowed to dwell in what she'd almost caused for too long. In actuality Gene had stepped off to the right of the flaming orb and in a single bound cleared the impact zone only to land near the other man who for reasons unknown to Gene, seemed to be camping out in hiding.

Eh? Those eyes...they're both from the Hyuuga clan and this one, his attention settled upon the man's doll. If I'm not mistaken that's a puppet but...why does he have one? I've never known the Hyuuga to carry around those kinds of things but then again...the only Hyuuga I've ever known was Aina. Nevermind that, the girl is capable of using Fire style ninjutsu? Today is just full of surprises, Gene thought idly to himself. Opting to observe the pair for much longer before announcing himself Gene waited and watched them carefully; realizing almost immediately from his observations that, despite their apparent unique talents or lack thereof, neither one had the instinct to pick up on his presence despite him being in such close proximity. It might have been cheap to do but Gene couldn't help but compare the duo to the only Hyuuga that he'd ever known, Aina. That woman's visual prowess and natural instincts were without question peerless in Konoha to the point where even as fast as he'd was, Gene still didn't believe that he'd be able to get the drop on her. More importantly, he noticed that neither one had the presence of mind to utilize their Byakugan to thoroughly evaluate their surroundings before making a move but both had either decided to run out into the open or just outright announce themselves - it was strange.

Finally, when Gene decided that he'd seen enough he took the liberty to announce himself. For a man standing at only five foot - seven his voice boomed with all the bass of the deepest sea and was just as calm and smooth as a natural rising wave. "Not bad. Though you should be a bit more careful when casting your jutsu," Gene remarked as he took a moment to assess the damage of the tree. A slight burn but nothing close to what that jutsu should have been capable of. Now that he wasn't trying to dodge a flaming sphere Gene could take in the features of both Hyuuga without much of a distraction and to his surprise, both of them looked to be about his age. I wonder if they're Chuunin just out for some training. Perhaps I've overstepped my boundaries by interrupting them. A sense of guilt filled him but he hid it well beneath the mask.

Meanwhile, his true self continued to focus on honing and expanding the range of his Sensory. A task made easier by the fact that his Shadow clone boasted high enough of a pool to use as a bounce point.

As Himiko darted forward, the young Hyuuga watched in near horror as an individual came into sight and seemingly disappeared in a rush of flames. At first glance it shockingly seemed to disintegrate him from existence which her brain logically deduced that was near impossible at her weak level of Katon usage. She even decided to allow her eyes to activate to make sense of what her inexperienced eyes had witnessed. It didn't take much from that little examination of residual chakra and the smoldering tree in the distance to comprehend what had occurred. At least the man was quick enough to flicker out of the way of injury. That was all that she was concerned with at this specific moment in time. It let her panicked nerves to settle down and her heart to stop pounding in her chest like a tribal drum.

"And you shouldn't startle a girl when she's spitting out fire. You might just get burned," she said rather clearly as her ocular gaze looked the man over. He had a strong energy to him, certainly of a much higher rank than she held currently. While she could have peered through that mask to view the person hidden behind it, the Hyuuga was respectful of his privacy and wished not to violate it. This was not her moment to peeve and pry into his being. She heavily believed her clan had to be held to a higher regard than such actions. That being said, almost all of that was thrown out of the window quite quickly. Just before she deactivated her ocular prowess, her gaze shifted right towards another Hyuuga emerging from the foliage with an odd creation dangling off his hip.

Himiko easily recognized the male as Yama and knew of his low status within the clan. Her father, even in his handicapped state, had warned her on multiple occasions to stay clear of him. The exact reasoning of his warning she personally did not know. All she did know was of the slight similarities they shared: parents weren't really in the picture (but at least both of hers were alive), they focused on civilian tasks rather than continuing their talents as shinobi, and both were at an age where they should be at the near peak of their career instead of the very beginning. Whatever the case, it definitely didn't excuse the situation they were in currently.

"You...followed me out here?" she said in a very offended and certainly accusing manner. The girl would have continued but it seemed like the more that Yama spoke, the more perturbed she grew. It didn't take any training in psychology to know that there was something drastically off with the male. Carrying and talking to a puppet, pretending it to be real at his age was just...wrong. Her eyes examined over his form, looking at his chakra signatures and anatomical structures. It didn't seem like he had taken trauma to the head or had some form of defect to result in his behavior. Her only theory was the death of his family had traumatized him to a much greater degree than he initially let his clan know. If anything, it was worrying. That was the main reason she maintained her Byakugan in its active state almost as if she was waiting for his chakra to show evidence that he was going to try something that wouldn't be in his best interest.

What really got her was the comment of her burns. They were faintly spread across where her dimples met her smile. But the lighter hue stood against the pinkish undertones in her skin, even with the lack of a tan due to the winterous month. It was an accident that happened shortly after he graduation and something she had regretted ever since. Hell, there was a reason she often wore bandages across them. To her, it felt like it stood out less - even if that was the exact opposite. Quite funny how the smallest things can one's biggest insecurities. "Yama, while I appreciate your concern, I don't appreciate you watching me from the shadows. Especially when we have never spoken before. Why don't you take your..." she paused, not wanting to say something he could deem offensive. "...sister and go back to the compound. I'm completely capable of fending for myself." It was quite a scenario. She actually felt safer with the masked stranger than she did her own flesh and blood. That was definitely a troubling circumstance.

He would emerge holding his sister with quite a joyous disposition seemingly in his face, Perhaps they did not want to capture him and torture him for his mental crimes. He had prepared for the chance that may happen, Much like his cousin had a natural affinity for Katon jutsu, he had a one for Doton. Why does Doton have such a strong affinity for him? That he could not gather. Perhaps it was for his want for structure, perhaps he had more affinities to find. Back in his workhouse he had many different books on ninjutsu and genjutsu that he had retained from his academy days. They did mostly collect dust however recently he had been taking more of an interest in some more of the advanced ninjutsu. From what he can gather from his studies, it do well for separating from striking distance from his opponent. Some of the techniques to allow travel through the ground. This time taking learning about his affinity and the ability to travel through the ground was in fact what gave him the confidence to track down and learn an additional technique that he heard that the Suna puppet style users in fact used, While he had originally planned to use it for a combat scenario, as soon as he deemed them both as non threatening he had decided to use that one said jutsu. That jutsu was a technique also used by Sand ninjas with an affinity for Earth, It was of the C class variety so he was hoping that their observer would in fact enjoy the showing. He had studied that technique in great detail and hoped to perhaps give them a show of his abilities through practicing it for the first time. He had cast a fair few moments before coming through the foilage, Hopefully neither of them seen him due so, or the joke would be ruined, perhaps for the sensory type it would become apparent what was happening, however it was all just to play one of his humorous pranks. Yama upon closer inspection had very sunken dark outlined eyes for a Hyuga, they were often known for their rather pale and perfect skin, It was almost unsettling, of course he didn't seem like a Genin either due to his age. The strange intruder that had appeared didn't seem to give Yama much attention so he felt rather comfortable just addressing his cousin's concerns. She did look concerned, it was almost like she was glaring at him. He couldn't help to find it quite cute, He had grown quite fond of her as he had been stalking her.

"Haha ! Of course Himiko-chan!"

He replied to the question of him following her joyously as he extended out his hand, underneath his fingertips they seemed to be glowing with blue chakra similar to the Jyuuken as without even the Byakugan, It would seem he was controlling something from his fingers, what exactly was hard to tell as he was directing his fingers down at the ground seemingly. His fingers would wriggle and move around seemingly in somewhat bizarre fashions as he smiled back at her sweetly. With her Byakugan she would in fact see that what ever he was controlling was several feet under the ground. He would shake her head as he looked over at her.

"Byakugan are cool aren't they Himiko-chan? But can you look underground? Ever tried looking at the floor really close? Don't worry so much though"

He had placed Himiko in a weird circumstance as the thing seemingly underground had began moving rapidly in an arc, The only way she would be able to perceive what was coming is if she did seemingly what he had stated and looked directly at the ground but even then that opens up problems such as tunnel vision. What was he playing at. He seemed to be having quite a lot of fun despite his menacing nature in front of a family member and a ninja peer.

"And let you hurt yourself again darling cousin? How can I sleep as you do this too your father? My My, You should think about your worrying family!"

He would comment, knowing the way her father was due to living in the compound he seemed to take great joy in bringing up his name like he had achieved something as he hugged his sister tighter by the waist he would begin preforming additional hand seals as what ever he had panned was definitely about to make an appearance even she liked it or not.

"Plus, It's not just me and Sis, Dear cousin! I have brought more family!"

Bursting from the ground behind her a humanoid seemingly female marionette would come out of the ground and then proceed to try and hug her. Yama a large smile on his face hoped that she could see the humor in the scenario, The puppet would come uncomfortably close if not stopped and proceed to just hold them quite comically if not struck down or attacked.

"I brought your aunt!"

He exclaimed with much joy and glee, hoping his peer ninjas could see how happy he was to introduce her too her extended deceased family brought back as marionette puppets. Seemingly since before he came out of the foliage the mother puppet had been traveling in a complete arc from the starting point of him leaving, Meaning it would dip out of normal view even for the Byakugan, One must still focus their telescopic vision on their target if it's underground. Despite all of the effort used it was merely a prank, An impressive one that actually took a lot out of the old Genin. He would after the event fall on his bum a pale sweat coming on his brow as he fall back on his behind with a thud extending out his hands to catch his fall.

"Oooof!"

He'd yelp, however for a first outing of his Doton affinity he surely was impressed with himself. He'd not feel to bothered by how they would react because in his eyes he was chuffed with himself.

Had you been paying attention to your surroundings then you wouldn't have been startled... was what Gene wanted to say. He had realized that in his quest to learn more about two considerably potent sources of chakra nearby prematurely inserted himself into this situation and thus, while making his case topped his personal ladder of controversial issues, it was under no pretext justifiable on a reasonable front. Begrudgingly, he'd taken the girl's quip with refined diligence. Almost as if to be rewarded for his effort to remain patient in an oddly provoking scenario, Gene was able to learn the names of both Hyuuga without needing to pry for information on his own. Apparently, the girl who's quip had managed to stir his ire was named Himiko; ironic, Gene thought, that the girl's name could be roughly translated to "Child princess" as she certainly boasted an air of authority - even if it was slightly askewed. The concern she had shown when she believed that she'd set him ablaze was all but completely washed away and replaced with...arrogance? Gene wasn't quite sure.

Meanwhile, the abnormal Hyuuga who had piqued Gene's interest due to the strange and unusual puppet he'd been clinging to, was named Yama. While he knew nothing of the man's history, experience, status and overall standing as a person; there were things about him that Gene understood as...strange, if nothing else. He already had his own line of suspicions and questions due to discovering the two so far away from the village to begin with but studying Himiko's reaction to Yama, Gene couldn't help but get the feeling that there was more than what he saw on the surface at play here. He did not know what the man spoke about but could respect Himiko's stance on not wishing to be followed. However, like before, he believed that her tailing was more a result of inattentiveness than any real fault of Yama's. It seemed to be a reoccurring theme with the girl and because of that, Gene began further question her authenticity as a Kunoichi. Little did Gene realize, he was about to get an opportunity to see for himself just how good of a Shinobi both of them actually were.

For all his verbal games and hoop jumping, Yama had done something quite clever and unexpected in that Gene couldn't rationalize why exactly he was doing what he was doing. Though his face betrayed nothing of his perceptions Gene's ears had intuitively picked up on the sound of shuffling, a low and easily ignorable noise if ever there was such a thing and if not for his being well disciplined in the ways of remaining vigilant Gene certainly wouldn't have noticed. I see...that one's a sneaky little bastard, Gene thought to himself. While he very well could have intervened and put a stop to what was about to happen a part of him opted to remain stationary, mostly due to Himiko's earlier remark. He wanted to see if all her posturing about being able to handle herself was true or just bravado. Then it happened. From behind Himiko came Yama's puppet followed immediately after by Yama's intolerable laughter. Now Gene was sure of it, something was wrong with this dude.

At this point, the original Gene who had still been focused intently on maintaining and controlling his Mind's eye perception finally managed to normalize his readings. Now, he could view the fluctuations of energy much more clearer than before which to his credit and reward, allowed him to get a firm established view on just what his clone had been doing in addition to the fluctuations of chakra produced by the others. He'd noticed that both chakra sources while still present, were gradually starting to wane. "That's odd. I wonder what's going on," he spoke in a tone reflecting both curiosity and unease. Since neither seemed to be moving, he opted to focus on the source of Chakra that appeared most active, Yama's chakra. In doing so, he noted a similar albeit much smaller signature belonging to the same individual. Could it have been a clone?

Edit: As of 10/05, Hakami decided to leave the thread. Continuing thread without him. ]

The creep was right. The Byakugan was a very cool ability. While she certainly was uncertain of Yamatsuki's proficiency with the doujutsu, hers - like most Hyuuga - held the ability to see through objects. This certainly included the ground below. And with these observing eyes, the young lass was quick to realize just what exactly was conspiring. From her cousin's fingertips she noticed numerous strings of chakra, some in which had dipped down into the ground surface. The clan wasn't commonly affiliated with Earth Release let alone utilizing chakra in such a fashion. But it seemed nothing about this male seemed to match up with the normalcy of the clan. He was just as much of a foreigner as an outclass. No wonder they dubbed him as cursed.

Upon seeing the strings, Himiko's range of perception would immediately shift from focused to spherical. Training in improving her 360 degree field of view held its benefits in such a circumstance. It may not have allowed for having the best of visual range, but it was incredibly useful when potentially battling multiple foes whether that be human or puppet. On top of that, the male's first attempt at a Doton wouldn't be without some trial and error. That's why, as the puppet pierced through the ground and did its best to hug her, she had already had plenty of time to prepare the necessary hand seals and put forth a plan into action.

At first, it seemed far too late. Her frame was quickly embraced and squeezed tightly. It even released a gasp as air escaped her lungs before POOF. The commonly known Change of Body Stance replaced her positioning with a simple log. And sticking right atop of this log was a kunai with an ignited tag. This visual didn't last for long before it exploded with a good force, hopefully nearly destroying that creepy ass puppet in the process. At the very least, maybe it altered enough of his control that it grew stuck within the earth. That would only be incredibly appropriate at this point. If those really were supposed to be replicas of his deceased mother and sister, they certainly would have been turning in their grave. Their memory was being horribly tarnished by this sick and twisted doll representation. It would be a silent vow that she'd make sure their memory lived on properly.

From her new position behind a tree, the girl knew she wouldn't be able to maintain her secrecy long. He did have a Byakugan that could find her with just a little bit of focus. But that need for focus did give her enough time to really get a good look at cousin: where he kept his weaponry, whether he had strings in other locations, etc. The most particular thing she saw was the contents of the puppet...or rather how he was controlling it. Inside there seemed to be organic matter of some kind. Was that hair? Skin? Anything further she couldn't be certain, but it seemed to be the main method he was using to bond his chakra strings to. Additionally, she noticed a simple book. Why, of all things, was that hidden inside his puppet? Honestly, she really wanted to find out. It might paint a picture as to just what was going on in that psychotic brain of his.

Forming additional seals, the "Fire Princess" would dart out of her cover before expelling her practiced fireball right at her cousin. She bolted forward with great speed as she carefully keep track of Yama with his puppet at his side and mindful of the one that had been exploded. With her hands cloaked in a soft array of chakra, she'd move to do her best to incapacitate him. The only problem with this? Her eyes already were starting to show signs of their fatigue. The tenketsu that normally would be clear as day began to smear and fall out of sight. Come on Himi, she mentally cheered. Don't let your Byakugan deactivate now!

"Hey!" she said towards Yamatsuki in the midst of perhaps combat. "What were you going to do to me? Turn me into a puppet like you did your mother and sister? What's in that book of yours? Let your beloved cousin take a look!" Her taunts had purpose. She just hoped that this masked man would help her out. This wasn't just some family-based squabble. Something really was afoot here. There was definitely something dark about this cursed Hyuuga. And she would do everything in her power to make sure it was brought to light. All Himiko could hope for was that the masked stranger would do something to help her out. After practicing that Katon over and over again, she really didn't have the reserves to take him on alone.

As she charged forward, the puppet user reacted appropriately. He was able to utilize his puppet to take the hit of the flame without receiving much damage to itself before launching it straight forward. The puppet was fast but not the most agile. The smoldering limbs attempted to swipe at her but she had enough time to react. A slight spin on her toes allowed her to avoid the vast blunt of the hit. All that was struck was her right arm. The action dislodged her shoulder from its the joint and burned a small hole through her shirt. Her struggles with her Byakugan was only further burdened by the attack. As pain riddled through her body, her focus began to blur just as the remaining gap between them was removed. Though she made a well placed strike to Yama’s stomach, she lacked the accuracy to hit his tenketsu.

But in all reality, it mattered not. Just in a similar reaction she had made prior, the puppeteer proofed away in a cloud of smoke as a simple log took his place. “I’ll find him!” she said confidently, but the strain was far too much. Her concentration on expanding her range only made the world seem to spin as trees smeared into one another and nothing but a big blob of reality was left. With a grunt, she dropped down to her knees as her eyes forced themselves to close, a headache rippling through her mind as her limb right arm hung loosely at her side. Part of her wanted to smack herself. If only she had trained a little bit more. If she had mastered Katon sooner. She just didn’t have the energy reserves to do anything about it...now he was going to get away. That coward...

Well...things had certainly taken an interesting turn to say the least. For Gene, what started out as a simple investigation soon escalated into something far more troublesome; for in his observation of the ordeal in its entirety, he'd learned that things within the esteemed Hyuuga clan might not have been as grounded in stability as they appeared...In fact, judging from what he'd just witnessed Gene could say with relative certainty that there appeared to be a certain measure of discord budding within the Hyuuga clan and that despite their traditionalist ways, there were things that could have potentially warranted a more thorough investigation. Neither member of the clan seemed to boast a high level of discipline as their techniques, while mediocre at best, still seemed to have been initiated with at least the notion of greater physical harm. For two members of the same family line, that in and of itself struck the snowy-haired Jounin as strange but not completely out of the ordinary.

A man of his rank and station hardly considered the woes of true combat a slight to the nature of Shinobi upbringing and thus, he did not fault either of them for utilizing the tools left to their disposal. No, a Shinobi should have been willing and capable of taking measure into their own hands if the situation called for it and this particular situation certainly seemed to match that case. All the while the two had been engaged in their squabble Gene observed them both carefully; analysing their mannerisms and temperament, really delving into the potential ideologies behind why they'd both felt the need to take certain actions in an almost over scrutinizing detail. What he'd learned in his evaluation was that Yama, seemingly the elder of the pair, was slightly thrown off - likely by some event in his history that Gene could neither fathom nor place without more information. Although, stalking a member of his clan and making puppet like replicas of his relatives suggested either a warped fascination with the world as he knew it or a coping mechanism; which of these two options were the truth and which were not true, Gene could not say. And unfortunately, because Gene could not say, Yama had landed himself directly under the skeptical eye of Konoha's sleeping dragon - a man not known to take matters of safety nearly as lightly as his complacent colleagues...IF he even took them lightly at all.

Himiko on the other hand from what Gene could tell, allowed herself to get worked up far too easily. She'd done well to make the most of her substitution by supplementing it with a paper bomb and even better when concealing herself to prepare for her next strike but even while she'd hid Gene never stopped hearing the sound of her breathing while she took time to prepare for her next attack. Time, might he had, that seemed to take far too long. If she were up against a relatively average Chunin Gene believed that she might have been able to hold her own for a time but eventually she'd make a mistake and in that mistake, she'd suffer. Rushing in behind a straight forward Jutsu like the Fire ball jutsu was ill advised as it left her open to ample counters in the event that her technique failed, like it had. If the puppet limb that had struck her were laced with poison then surely she would have been in a much worse situation than if Gene wasn't there to observe. Worn and seemingly pushing beyond her natural limit, she'd be easy pickings for one wanting to claim the famed Dojutsu for themselves.

No, she'd never make it on her own. At least, not at her current level. In many ways Gene was but a youth in a world dominated by seasoned warriors who'd carried far more experience in the field than he but - in others, he was a Shinobi of no equal. Peerless in terms of raw natural instinct, he had an eye for recognizing favorable and the unfavorable at a glance. A fact that to this day, had aided him in besting foes who by all rights should have been able to overtake him fairly easily. Gene, in a word, was the ultimate Realist and in this light he saw things for what they were and never for what they weren't. Himiko would one day be a valuable asset to the village and therefore, it was his task to cultivate her budding flame even if that meant putting up with a few of her insults along the way. "What's the matter, did you find something down on the ground?" He asked, finally stepping away from his zone of comfort now that the battle had reached its climax. Knowing what he now knew, Gene figured the response might have given rise to a defiance in the girl and that was exactly what he wanted.

Brief as the encounter might have been from beginning to end Gene took in practically every minute detail about both of the Hyuuga as that was his job. A side effect of this attention to detail was that he could recall with perfect clarity things about them that otherwise would have been ignored by the average or even keen observer. He now knew her somewhat about her combat mentality in addition to the scatter brained portion that she'd shown briefly and tried to obscure under banter and by extension, some of her flaws. Now, the foundation to build had been laid out and he full well intended to elevate her...if at all possible. She might not have agreed with his methods but then again, she didn't know about his methods. There was some good to be said about remaining objective and playing the observer role - something Gene never would have even considered three years ago.

Description: Tying in with distinction which allows Gene to string together complex information regarding the sound around him, clarity is a discipline of the highest variety that enables Gene to vividly and accurately study and learn the intimate details about the things that he observes with his sight. These things are often minute details easily missed by the average or even practiced observer but not to Gene due to his instinctive attention to the world around him to include people, their mannerisms, hidden tales, quirks and other pertinent details. Furthermore, because of this superhuman like level of focus Gene may recognize the flaws in most transformation techniques provided his instinct is higher or equal to the technique being performed as the residual chakra used to hold such techniques together while faint, are discernable to his eyes. Essentially making him extremely difficult to fool by using such tricks unless the user is extremely attentive to detail themselves. This information is processed much like a CPU processes data and as such, objects or people moving at high speeds; most notably those utilizing the *[Ninjutsu • Body Flicker Technique] are also discernible due to the residual chakra trail.

With the combined pain of her overly strained eyes and her dislocated shoulder, Himiko merely sighed as she sat upon the ground while resting upon her knees. This definitely wasn't the most physical pain she had ever been in. She did have four older brothers that enjoyed to tease her after all. But perhaps what bothered her most was just how the whole situation had changed in such a short period of time. All of this could have been avoided if she just took the time and effort to keep up her training. Her senses had dulled and her focus had definitely withered. Not only had she not notice one of her very clansmen stalking her there in the woods, she had not noticed the behavior period. Who knew how long he had been watching her...waiting for a moment to strike. The mere thought of it sent shivers down her spine and only made her want to take a long shower. But even that caused more gooseflesh to erect. What if he had been watching during that? The whole scenario just made her want to vomit. That, or it was just the pain.

On top of that, the Hyuuga also held additional faults in that she had been completely unaware of the masked stranger's presence either. Hell, she nearly blasted him with a fireball - even admittedly a fairly weak one. How had she let herself drop so low? Had her talents as a shinobi really gotten that bad? Memories of her days at the academy where she was one of the top three students in taijutsu made a soft smile spread gradually over her lips. She wanted to regain that level of accomplishment. She wanted to make her family proud. It just appeared she would need to take many additional steps just to start that climb again. The stairs to success weren't going to walk themselves. There was no escalator that would take her to the floor she wished to reach. That was a journey she would have to take on her own. She might even trip along the way. Hell, this was a pretty big fall as is. Just time to get up and try again.

Using her left hand, the fire princess gently cupped her shoulder and began palpating the tender tissue. The joint had dislodged itself from its normal housing, dangling loosely. It was held only by tendon, ligament, and the musculature it was attached to. Luckily for her, nothing seemed to be torn. And if it was, rest and light mobility exercises would be all that was needed to heal them. But first, she would have to pop it back into place. That was something she had seen a few times in class but definitely nothing she had done on her own, especially not to herself. Her pride was far too hurt to actually ask for any help in the situation. This would be something she would have to do on her lonesome. If she failed? Well...guess that everything she would have done today would have been seen as a failure.

Taking in a deep breath, Himiko would carefully guide her right hand between her thighs where she squeezed it tight, trapping her palm in place. Of course, as the stranger approached and watched the whole endeavor, it definitely would be seen as odd but she knew in theory what to do. The spasming muscles that struggled in an attempt to return back to their normalcy needed to be relaxed just long enough for her to pop that humeral head back in. To do that, she needed traction. With her squeezing thighs holding everything steady, she would elongate her spine and slightly rotate her core away. With a big grimace of pain radiating over her face, she did just a slight jerk as a loud gasp escaped her lips as the blasted thing popped back in. Yes, it fucking hurt. There was no doubt about that. But at least it was back in.

The man's comment made her slightly roll her eyes as she pushed herself back up to her knees. "Just my pride, if you must know," was her only comment. Her focus was mostly on moving her arm and making sure all of the range of movement was mostly there. It also would help her gauge whether or not there was more soft tissue injuries that she wasn't aware about. In the end, she definitely would have her mother look at it. If anyone could heal the damage that had been done, it was a surgeon. Hopefully external medical ninjutsu was all that would be needed. As for the little burn on her arm from the puppet attack? That was easy to treat. At least the burn ointment she brought with her had found some use. Applying it with a slight sting at the contact, she'd rip off the rest of her ruined shirt sleeve and use it to form a makeshift bandage. It wasn't the prettiest, but it would be effective until she could properly clean and wrap it once she got home.

"I wanted to say that I am sorry about the fireball. I came out here with the mental excuse that I didn't need to pay attention to my surroundings because no one would have been around. Obviously, had I been listening for anyone, probably none of this mess would have happened in the first place," she said, offering him her left hand as a means to show acceptance of her apology. "I'm Himiko of the Hyuuga clan. And, you are?"

If today had taught her anything, it was that there were some sick and twisted individuals on this Earth. Though she currently didn't know why they were like that or how they reached such a point, she knew deep down that she couldn't allow anyone - female, male, civilian, or shinobi - to suffer under the vile nature the mentally disturbed could cause. If anything, that was the girl's new ninja way: to help others who might not even know they needed helping.

phpBB [video] Her rebuttal brought a smile to the young man's face, even when faced with a loss she certainly hadn't lost any of her spunk. Admittedly, Gene was a bit surprised when she'd taken the liberty to try and pop her arm back into place though his concerns stemmed mostly from her having tried without knowing the full extent of her injuries. Of course...he could have done something about that and, Gene knew it too, but he was still a shirker at heart. Besides, he almost felt like trying to step in at this point would have only been disrespectful to the ordeal that she'd just gone through and may have even lessened the impact of what she'd learned. As a Kunoichi she would do well never to get complacent and the pain in her shoulder would serve as a reminder of the consequences for being too laxed; though, it wasn't like Gene was a stranger to screw ups himself. He'd still remembered getting the acid burn scar on his stomach...boy were hard learned lessons painful.

What happened next genuinely surprised him but at this point he'd grown used to being thrust into confusion by things that happened around him. Not only did Himiko apologize for the flames but she'd even extended her hand out to him despite his earlier comment. How to put it? She was tough, strong willed and considerate; a combination that Gene hardly would have expected meeting her for the first time and yet, in just so short a time she'd displayed all at once. First impressions were hard to make and even harder to erase when it came to the Cloud watcher, but in just a short period of time this girl had earned his respect. Extending his right gloved hand out to embrace her own, Gene gave a slight nod his head and responded, "Gene Mitsurugi, Jounin of the Village hidden in the leaves." Himiko had proved herself capable and resilient and so Gene had no problem with confessing both his name and rank to her. It never even crossed his mind that she might be lower in status and even if that were the case, he'd already acknowledged her as an equal. "Don't feel bad about the fireball back there, it was me who was out of line for interrupting your training. Still, I'd say things worked out in the end. Had I not sensed your chakra earlier then I wouldn't have been able to act as your witness to...whatever that whole ordeal was." Gene conceded, opting to omit the part out about him being a Shadow clone for now but alluding to some kind of affinity toward Sensory. She might have earned his respect but that didn't mean he had earned hers in return; Gene hated to think of what she might say if she'd known that she were talking to a clone and that despite his teasing, there'd been no real danger in the first place.

For now, he'd let things play out on their own.

It was good to finally hear that the other had more than just a judgmental attitude. He was a higher up, a man that probably had forgotten what it was like to be at the bottom of the barrel and definitely probably had his own amount of opinions. But Himiko did her best not to judge him for that. What she would judge him for was when he extended his right hand to meet her left. Could he clearly not see that her right arm was a little out of commission? She arched a brow that clearly stated a 'really dude?' before making the best of it by bopping the back of his hand as if she was doing some complex private friendly hand shake so that she could use it again to take care of her arm. Raising it up to her zipper, the girl pulled and opened a good half of the front of her shirt. This however was no erotic hentai where the damsel gave herself willingly to her savior. Hell, the man didn't even do anything worth deserving such a treasure. All he was rewarded with was seeing her barely noticeable and completely concealed, bandage-bound breasts underneath a simple shirt of chain mail. Needless to say, it definitely wasn't an image anyone would necessarily want to add to their spank bank. Except maybe Yama. But that's another story entirely.

Letting her arm rest in the comfort of her shirt, she shifted her attention back to the Jounin. "I really hate asking this, but would you mind escorting me back to the village?" Her eyes really weren't in a condition to be activated again for some time being, her chakra levels were in need of recovering, and her arm probably wasn't in a good condition to fight off a small dog let alone an equally ranked shinobi. Should she get into a fight (if you could even call a one-sided event that) she would be quick to lose. She still was admittedly disturbed by what had happened and really wouldn't feel secure until she was within the hopefully protective confines of Konohagakure's walls. She really didn't even know if the male even would answer yes. Her first guess as to why he was out here was that he was probably on patrol or preparing to leave for a mission. The little knowledge that he is a sensor-type only made her guess that he probably went her direction only because he sensed both Hyuuga's chakra levels. Looking him over briefly, she even wondered if that was even him to begin with. Some people could make some really good replicas of themselves. Not that it really mattered. Her eyes were a little out of commission, even if she could tell a difference in the first place.

...Had he...missed something? Surely her injuries weren't that debilitating, right? Sure, the puppet was an unexpected ninja tool and she had suffered quite a bit to deal with it but Gene didn't believe that Himiko took any real damage from the altercation. Then again, he had to consider that there was more to combat than just the physical aspects. Maybe she'd been more beaten up than she let on; no, that didn't seem right. No matter how he looked at it, aside from arm injury she seemed perfectly capable. That was when Gene noticed that she'd been studying him...almost in the same manner that he was studying her. Suddenly, it became apparent to Gene that she wouldn't have been so eager to trust him considering what had just happened and it didn't help that he never stepped in to intervene, not even once. Talk about clueless...If I had a creepy guy following me around I wouldn't be so quick to trust others either. On the other hand, I don't sense that other one's chakra anywhere nearby so she might be good on her own; on second thought, I should stick around just in case he decides to come back. "Yeah, sure." Gene finally answered, "just give me one second." He didn't explain what he meant by that but Himiko wouldn't have to wait very long to figure out what Gene had meant. No sooner had the words escaped his lips did the Shadow clone abruptly disperse in a grey plume of smoke; he truly didn't mean to leave her standing there all on her own but this seemed to be a matter that needed to be handled directly, a Shadow clone wouldn't cut it.

Back where Gene had been intently focused maintaining the range of his sensory techniques, sitting with both legs cross and arms folded over one another, a rush of air hit him all at once forcing him to open his eyes. In actuality, this rush of "air" as it was hadn't truly been air at all but the knowledge accumulated in its entirety from the Shadow clone technique that he'd used. From start to finish Gene played the events back in his mind and in doing so, was able to break down the movements of both Yama and Himiko during their battle. In Yama's case, Gene could now comprehend the faintest of the man's movements and realized when it was that he'd sank his puppet into the ground and additionally, the slight finger movements that his Shadow clone had noticed but paid little attention to in the heat of the moment. He'd learned exactly when it was that Himiko had swapped herself out for a log and when she'd placed the paper bomb on it in her counter...he'd seen it, seen it all. Sighing, the non-clan Shinobi shook his head once and peered over at the flowing river in front of him. "Oh man...what the hell was I thinking?" As usual, his Shadow clone had gone and found something that it'd had no business searching for and because of that Gene knew that things would probably be troublesome for him down the line. "Well, not like I can help it now. I'd better not keep Himiko waiting," he conceded as he rose to his feet and snatched his Haori from the branch he'd hung it up on, throwing it on quickly before vanishing like an apparition just as quick.

B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Gene has trained his eyes to be able to catch even the faintest hints of movements, allowing him to determine threats such as an opponent launching an attack or a trap getting ready to go off. Even something as subtle as the brief tensing of a muscle can be picked up by his incredible eyesight.

Picking up on his own trail had proved to be a challenging task despite most of the difficulty being circumvented thanks to the knowledge passed on by his Shadow clone. He'd decided that rather than rely upon his clone's information that it would have been a better exercise to practice identifying the travel path on his own, a skill that any Shinobi worth their salt should have had in their inventory. Navigating the dense forest region Gene was quick to notice his footprints first. They were light, barely visible due to a flurried snowfall that had did its best to obscure them, but they were there. A part of him cursed his error but the stronger, more receptive part of him chose to use the knowledge as a learning experience. Perhaps it would have been wise to refine his ability to travel undetected. Some ways up the road the tracks came to an end and Gene surmised from the flakes of white found spread across the surface of a nearby tree that his clone decided to pick up the pace and opted to travel above ground. Smart...but not good enough.

Gene took to the treetops where he'd first discovered the snow covered branch and studied it carefully. Beneath the snow, he noticed the shallow imprint of a foot and narrowed his eyes. His clone definitely had come this direction; glancing over to a displaced twig along the edges of another branch further ahead, he clicked his tongue and kept along the trail. The more Gene continued to follow the trail left by his Shadow clone the more mistakes he noticed and the more frustrated with himself he became. As a Jounin, being able to travel in utmost secrecy was instrumental to the success of a mission and the fact that he could spot out so many errors on his own meant that any skilled tracker would have been able to do the same, likely with even more proficiency. It'd been no wonder that in all their encounters, Takeo had been able to track him down so easily despite his best efforts to conceal himself. Now, Gene was starting to see the bigger picture.

By the time he'd started to close in on where his Shadow clone left Himiko Gene was so flustered with himself that he began forcefully erasing any trail of his that had been left both by himself in his pursuit of the trail and the past markings left as his guide by the Shadow clone. A realist and apparently quite the perfectionist, Gene couldn't stand for such a grand mockery to his profession even if it were mockery delivered by his own hands. In fact, Gene had taken this extreme so far that while it had only took his clone seven minutes to arrive at the clearing where he'd found the Hyuuga, it would take the Jounin a whopping twelve minutes to return; for he had resolved himself to extinguish every ounce of a trail that he'd left behind before returning to the girls side and conversely, when he did finally arrive to escort her he wore an expression in his eyes that seemed almost downtrodden as if something had happened in the time that they were apart.

Himiko felt a slight passing of relief when the man said ‘yes’ and had agreed to escorting her back to the village. It wasn’t that she was capable or too injured to do so herself. It was just that after everything that had happened, she would have felt safer with at least some company. She may not know the man, but if he was truly the Jounin that he made himself out to be, he was at least deemed by her village to be a capable shinobi in his own right. But, just in the very moment that he had agreed, the individual he had been talking to poofed into a big cloud of smoke and simply disappeared. Frankly, it caught the girl off guard. She had thought he might have been a clone…but to just leave her alone like that kind of was unsettling.

With a soft grumble, the girl backed up against a tree and let her eyes rest for a moment as she waited for the man to return. This left her ears to do a vast majority of the scouting for her as they listened to the way the winds brushed through the snow covered trees, the sounds of some animals moving in the distance, and the silence of any approaching figure. After a good three or so minutes, Himiko admitted she was feeling just a bit stood up. A comment about taking just a sec had turned into a quite a bit longer. Without knowing just how long it might take him to return, she really had no other choice in the matter - she would have to head back alone.

But before doing anything of the sort, she needed to at least try and cool her paranoia. Slipping her injured arm out of her makeshift sling for the briefest of moments, her hands would begin forming a series of seals that she really had not needed to use since she had just began using her Byakugan. It was a simple technique that gave some control to a doujutsu the beginners had little prowess over. The ninjutsu was simple. It just allowed the eyes to function and activate without as much strain. The cost? Well, it wasn’t exactly practical. Even amongst the higher ranking members of the Hyuuga, the sheer number of hand signs required was at times just too much, especially in the heat of battle. That was often why one of the first things taught was the activation of their kekkei genkai from willpower alone. Still, it was one quite useful in a situation such as this.

Ending upon a modified Tiger hand seal where just her left index finger pointed up towards the sky, Himiko let her chakra flow to her eyes once more and force the veins lateral to her orbs to distend from the extra circulation. Was her gaze at its best? Heavens no. It didn’t allow her to she much further past her normal 20/20 sight. At the very least, it did give her the ability to see chakra, a 360º range of view, and, most importantly, it's penetrative visual spectrum. With it, she could see that no one was around her, including that man whose reassuring promise had obvious fallen to deaf ears. A lady’s man he definitely was not.

With her eyes activated once more, Himiko would gather her things and place that arm back in its resting place. Before she left she would have to do one thing in particular. Removing a kunai from her hip pouch, the girl would mark the largest tree there with a lovely little note baring a fairly simple word across it. And by lovely, it definitely wasn’t a romantic letter or a heart with HxG sketched within it. ‘ASSHOLE’ in thick bold print was clearly carved within its bark.

By the time Gene would return to the grounds after his tedious attempts to not leave behind a trail and see the note that she had left behind, Himiko would be more than halfway back to the village. Could he catch up to her? Probably. But the girl also wasn’t taking her time either. It was apparent she wasn’t exactly the most patient person in the world. But who could blame her? It was cold, she was crept out, and Gene obviously didn’t seem too thrilled to get back to her as soon as he could. Her only tip? Don’t leave her waiting.

Byakugan: Activate
D-rank Ninjutsu
A technique known by all Hyuuga who are still struggling to activate their Byakugan, this ninjutsu begins by forming an incredibly long series of hand signs. Once completed, the clan member will surge chakra towards their eyes to activate their Byakugan. This action removes a lot of the strain of utilizing their eyes, doubling their allotted time. It, however, requires a high number of hand seals to be used. This often prevents it from being utilized during the heat of battle.

"Sorry for the wait, let's get going." ...Is what Gene would have liked to say. When he finally did reach the spot where he was sure that Himiko had been before his clone dispersed not only had the girl up and left, she'd carved a less than stellar message for him. His shoulders dropped and a sigh heaved from down in the man's gut which was then eventually followed by a short but honest chuckle. "Well Gene, looks like you blew this one. Ah well...spunky as that one is I'm sure she'll get on just fine by herself." Turning on his heels, Gene sucked in the cold winter air filling his lungs with an icy sensation and stepped off toward the village at a nice walking pace. Sure, he might have been a little upset about having not gotten any real training done but in light of how things seemed to be going Gene believed that it likely wasn't meant for him to train today in the first place. Yes, of that he'd been certain.

"Something tells me that things are about to get really interesting around here," stated the youthful Jounin with his eyes firmly fixed to the future that lay ahead. Fate had brought him two new leaves; one a potential friend and the other, most certainly a potential foe. Regardless of which side of the leaf turned up Gene couldn't help but welcome the new experiences."Still...an asshole really? Coming from the girl who almost burned my face off. If nothing else she's got gusto."

And with that, Gene began his journey back to the village hoping to catch up with Himiko and maybe grab a bite to eat while he was at it. With all that had been going on he'd actually forgotten to eat anything and his stomach now roared at him with all the intensity of a starved lion. I should head over to the Konoholic and see what kind of specials they have going today.
