[PB] The Decision to fight or not to fight.

Post by Zao » Fri Dec 21, 2018 11:18 am

The sun on this morning was attempting to pierce through the heavy veil of mist that currently covered the hills of his family land, the old red headed Reaper had been seated in this same position before the grave stones of his son and wife all night as he had no need to sleep due to his special body. His thoughts were actually at this moment not upon the mission he had been placed on by the big families but instead upon the thought and realization that he was the last in the line of the Yami if he didn't count his daughter who was still missing. Truly having lost track of her after the last encounter they had when he had hunted her down, letting her go that time was the only demonstration of love she had truly gotten from the black hearted Reaper who killed any who stepped before him no matter age or gender. His feet barely made a sound as he touched the damp soil as he began to slowly stand up without the aid of his kinesis, which caused for the thin veil of mist that had encompassed him to be slightly blown away revealing the pair of graves he’d been seated in front of.

After arriving earlier he’d cleared away the debris that had gathered to reveal the two stones and after some work they aged spots had been removed and they seemed to almost be brand knew after the effort he’d put into them. "My wife, perhaps we can see one another sometime soon.” For the first time in quite a while the old monster smiled a normal smile on his scarred lips when speaking out loud to his wife’s grave, though she had been gone for many a years that old shinobi still thought about her almost daily. He was never the best husband or the best father, having always put his duties as a shinobi and a pillar of the hunter division first and foremost in his life. Yet, the woman was a born and bred Kiri-nin as well and understood, rarely ever voicing a complaint to the man but he couldn’t help but feel now that he’d put them to the side too much.

Perhaps the Mizukage was right to think that the man who had been so cold hearted had grown a bit soft in his old years, but when all one had to hold onto was the memories of time past then it was hard for them to not grow a little soft. "My wife and my son, this might be the last time I speak to you in this manner. The next time might be in person..." In the morning light the man would go on to talk quietly to his two lost loved ones' grave stones, his mind on what he should do next as those who wanted the leader of the village dead had most likely already met their own end. Was there a need for him to pursue this almost suicidal mission still? Perhaps their was another out there who thought the same as him and would aid in in the quest? His true goal was not to become Mizukage, if that happened then he would begrudgingly accept, but if he could find a better suited candidate that would help him then he’d prefer it that way.

With an audible sigh the old man turned once more sweeping his bright yellow eyes over the two gravestones that were the last two placed within the Yami family graveyard as two empty plots had been placed right beside those two. One eventually for himself and the other for his daughter who’s status was currently unknown. Shaking his head the man pushed off the ground lightly as his elemental body floated a few feet off the air looking down at the mist that once more attempted to cover the stones and hide their presence from the world. He truly had other things to attend to on this day...

[PB] The Decision to fight or not to fight.

Post by Ace Trainer » Mon Jul 01, 2019 11:28 pm

Kai had heard the whisperings. He always did. And to be quite honest, if there was a man to replace him, Kasai was not a terrible choice. A veteran shinobi, with the understanding this his purpose within the village was not a burden, but not an opportunity, simply a way, and a still heart that wasn't subject to whims of passion and romance that the village so often was known to produce. But ideally, Kai wouldn't be replaced at all. The unfortunate reality meant that one of them would have to die, surely if Kai remained Mizukage he wouldn't be able to let Kasai live, and truly, Kasai wouldn't be completing his mission unless Kai died.

The man's body was disassembled into the mist as it rolled forward, a giant fog with an orb at it's center, blending with the preexisting mist. Kasai was a skilled shinobi, he knew he presence would not be masked in any way, when he came within range of the shinobi he would notice the enormous mass of chakra rolling forward. But it wasn't meant to hide his presence, no. Instead it was meant to at least give the appearance of reverence, he had found in his experience that the absence of a body sometimes made his presence feel less intrusive. Without knowing exactly what Kasai was doing in this place, his intuition told him the man was making peace with what he was to do. Something Kai understood intimately. He had long left many of the people he loved behind, his age beyond that of many shinobi within the village. His family had come and gone and he had risen through the ranks perhaps on history and posterity alike. His unique perspective offering him advantages in military, discourse and subterfuge.

He stood, several meters back from Kasai, the wall of chakra surely noticeable.

Have you made your peace?

He doubted Kasai would be surprised that this Mizukage was here, he figured this bannin was well aware that the Mizukage knew of what was to come.

This doesn't have to happen...", he offered. An opportunity for peace between the two individuals. An offer he had a feeling would fall flat. The orb that was the essence of Kai floated in the air relatively far back still. Perhaps 30 meters, plenty of space between the two.

[PB] The Decision to fight or not to fight.

Post by Zao » Thu Jul 04, 2019 8:16 am

The man's arms remained folded across his broad chest, golden eyes continuing to look down upon the pair of lonely grave stones placed so far from the village within the old territory of his family linage as the mist which had been kept at bay by his pure presence began to seep back in to hide his past from sight. Yet, this wasn't a natural mist and instead it instantly caused for each gloved hand to lightly tighten around each bicep which they were grasped upon in that moment. 'This chakra pressure...' Their was a certain pressure to this chakra, not something achievable by more than one or two other people within the village at this time for it meant that individual was at least on his own level of power leaving him to immediately guess the situation at hand.

But there was no panic within his eyes nor excitement either, the look was almost a sad look despite the emotionless expression that could be seen on the bearded man's face at that moment. For he knew exactly the two out comes that were possible with his old mentor having come to find him so far from that village. The two of them were truly alike, more or less old monsters from a time which war and death were a common thing and it was something that forged people much different than the small scale skirmishes and exchanges of did today. There was probably less than a handful of shinobi still level from his generation, Kai himself being even older than Kasai, the man was easily able to imagine that he was in a very similar scenario. But that didn't mean he felt sympathy for the current Mizukage as it wasn't a normal emotion for the Reaper but instead it was simply a unspoken understanding that existed between the two old men.

After a few moments of silence with the approach of the pressuring fog from the objective of the mission he'd been given by the big families that wanted control of the village back, a familiar voice called out to him through the thick chakra infused mist now. "There can truly never be any peace for shinobi like us, I'm afraid." As he spoke the man's faintly glowing body and its earthen toned chakra gentle turned in order to allow for the folded arm bannin to completely face the formless mass before him. A hint of a smile could be found on the left corn of Kasai's lips as he spoke back insinuating that for old veterans like themselves their would never truly be any peace. While not a warmonger the man still understood that strength was all that mattered in the end in order to kill your opponents and win battles.

Kasai's half open looking eyes continued to look on now as the MIzukage spoke once more, stating that this was something that didn't have to happen. Truly the man wished that it didn't as it put them both in a rather complex situation. Kai was attempting to forge a new path and Kasai was now the road block of one forged in the old ways of the village who didn't want to change. There was even the change that the path being forged by the current Mizukage was absolutely the best option for the village within the man's eyes but Kasai couldn't help but feel the opposite due to how he was trained and raised as a shinobi. "I suppose it doesn't, you could simply flee old man." Their was a faint laugh that followed the words spoken by the ghostly sounding man as he let his vision drift down to the misty ground for a moment and with his eyes the man's flowing body gently descended as well touching down toe first before finally each foot was securely on the ground and the faint glow of chakra faded for the time being.

"I don't even want your job..." Honest words flowed out of the Bannin's mouth as he spoke again after the brief laugh, what kind of joke was it that he should be the Mizukage. Who even wanted such a headache, this was something for the young kids to aspire and train themselves for while the old monsters of the village were best left to their own devices really. This thought alone caused him to sigh out loud, "...sadly I made a promise many years ago to uphold the rules and traditions of our village or I wouldn't have even bothered to return back to her now for just this..." The gentle left and right movement of the long crimson hair that fell around Kasai's face was only brief as it came to a quick stop and the eyes had refocused back onto the body of mist still before him and both arms remained folded over one another upon the large man's chest. Truly, this was a drag...

Kai's body slowly took form. A translucent mass of water taking shape in the miss. Kai was short, everyone always seemed to make note of it, and this moment was no different. Despite the distance between them the height difference would be glaringly obvious to any onlookers. This was almost strange considered Kai could shape his body as he pleased. Why not make himself taller? A question for another time. He nodded solemnly as his feet met with the ground, fully formed and 'in the flesh' or so to speak. "This is certainly true. If not due to our own decisions..", his voice trailed off, clearly referencing to this situation they were in right here.

"Its a heavy burden, this job. And don't think you won't one day be sitting on this side of the table. The hands are constantly changing, and the knife never remains in the same one for too long.", Kai offered this wisdom, both as advice and a bargaining point. It seemed he was not fully convinced that Kasai would be going through with this, or maybe that's just what he was telling himself. He was well aware Kasai knew that he'd never left Kasai live if both of them walked away from this, so perhaps trying to convince the man before him to give up this folly was a waste of time. But if he could, well, it'd save them both effort they didn't want to expend.

"Of all the people in the village, I think the two of use can relate the most given our....physiology.", a casual mention of their altered states, Kai crossed his legs as he descended to the ground, casual. A small grin on his face, he scratched his face. "And of all the people in the village, who can offer you more than myself? The noble family heads sit on their knees awaiting my commands in hope to gain favor after the abolition of the council. I can offer you anything. Change you want to see in the village can be created. One of us killing the other isn't necessary."

This wasn't fear. No, Kai was certainly not afraid and the confidence in his voice made that clear. It seemed he had other motivations, perhaps really as simple as he didn't want to fight Kasai out of purely laziness. It was hard to tell. But, if they could talk out of this with politics and philosophy, than so be it.

[PB] The Decision to fight or not to fight.

Post by Zao » Sun Jul 07, 2019 5:19 pm

"Aye..." The man's voice spoke up every so briefly during the moment that his own comrade's voice also drifted off, the situation the two of them had currently found themselves within was not one either of them would have ever asked for. Kasai seemed to look on almost lazily as the short figure finally condensed himself from the misty element into the current Kage's old form, even with their elemental bodies that could twist or contort their shape into anything they wished both men seemed too attached to their old human bodies to change anything. Even Kasai was the same as the scars from a life of a hunter-nin were still visible on his bearded face or at least the recreation of it. Perhaps it was just the old man's way of holding onto that part of him that was still human, without it wouldn't he just be some sort of abomination or monsters?

"You speak the truth, my old friend..." The Reaper couldn't help but let out a drawn out sigh to himself, it was almost a prerequisite for when someone became the new Kage that they already understood that sooner or later their replacement would come knocking and take their life in the process. It was actually one of the reasons why the Kage was truly considered to be the strongest in the village because they had to dispose of the previous leader in order to assume command. It was troublesome that it had really came to this point between the two old men, today the only outcome for their meeting would be that the village would loose one of its powerful tools. At the mention of their 'physicology' a ghostly chuckle managed to slip through the thin lips of the large man, drifting within the natural mist that surrounded them both.

"Offer me?" Kasai questioned back at the mention of what the current Kage could offer him, the man seemed to mimic the gesture from the older man across from him as the large man seemed to casually take a seat crossing his own legs in the process. Even seated the size different in the pair was truly noticeable. The gloved right hand lifted and seemed to stroke the crimson beard upon the old man's face in thought. Not that he was thinking about what the other man was capable of giving him but instead just what the purpose of the man's words truly were at this point. Both of them knew that neither could walk away from this place and if one did manage to slip away from the other they'd be hunted to the end of the earth with the entire might of the village.

Shaking his head slightly from side-to-side, causing his long crimson locks to do the same as though they were real, the Reaper let his hand relax as both found their way onto their respected knee. Golden eyes looked across the gap between the pair of them as he spoke up, beating around the bush was just wasn't the style for the old hunter now as he spoke frankly to the man he respected. "It's too bad we can't enjoy a cup of warm sake before this ends..." The words were directed towards the fact the both men were truly no longer men, at least in the regards of being flesh and blood with the ability to taste the finer things in life. Kasai haven't been an alcoholic before transforming his body into its elemental form. Despite the fact that it had driven him into a deep, dark place, he couldn't help but want to have a taste of it right now...yet with not truly body or organs all that was left was a simple core which resided within his chest with four other cores.

Post by Ace Trainer » Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:37 am

Kai was above lying, but not above bargaining. The man repeated back the notion of an offer and Kai's shoulders gesticulated up and down for an instant, "If there is a man who can....", he wouldn't tell Kasai that he'd live life in the village as a hero. He wouldn't offer some alternative, an ante up for whoever Kasai was under the guidance of. Perhaps out of respect for Kasai, perhaps out of his own moral compass. Regardless, Kai was a man of sincerity, something he hoped Kasai knew. Perhaps they could both walk away from this, not within the village, certainly not. But in some capacity.

"A shame, indeed. I'll tell you, there is a young boy who didn't have it in him to be a shinobi and failed out of the academy. Noble blood, weak heart, as many of the younglings are. He's got a knack for genjutsu though, he'll cast one on you the make you taste anything. Even us. I visit him frequently when I get a...yearning. Its funny the things you miss, the taste of sake certainly."

He frowned, looking down at the ground and running his hands over the grass he sat on.

"You're duty bound to act, I can understand that. But I wonder who you're more bound to serve, traitors to your Mizukage, or the Mizukage of the village you've served under your entire life.", he was seguing back into the notion of an offer. Elevating his position, he needed to strengthen his hand if he was going to be able to talk Kasai out of this one.

In his gut he knew he'd be fighting Kasai sooner or later. Kai was just over a century and a half in age at this point, he'd seen a few Mizukage, more jounin than he could count, taken more lives than he cared to remembetr. But the stalling, well it was desired. He didn't breath anymore, smell air, feel mist against his skin, and in these moments that he was very much aware could be his last, he wanted all of that. And the sake of course. He couldn't help but feel a little peace, perhaps a part of him wanted Kasai to take over. He hadn't exactly enjoyed being Mizukage, too much attention. He thought back to the stories of the Godaime Mizukage who spent her years hidden away in some secret lair with no one knowing what she was doing. What a luxury that would have been. And he had lived his fair share of years. But every coin had two sides, and Kai had sought immortality out of a deeply held fear of death that he felt all wise shinobi had. He wondered, did Kasai have it?

"Is there now? Perhaps I should look into this young man." A somewhat ghostly laugh managed to slip out from the man as he spoke in regards to the certain genjutsu user mentioned by the over century old man who sat across from them. If one didn't know any better and walked by the might think that these two old men where talking about old war tales or something, from someone looking in from the outside it was hard to tell that the pair of men were one step away from a potential death battle that would shake the very village itself. Exhaling slowly after the unexpected laugh the man couldn't help but shake his head at the thought of what the two men had become in their own pursuits as his own golden eyes drifted onto the damp grass that was being weighted down even so slightly by the thin layer of moisture that had settled upon it.

"You truly have been the pillar of this village for as long as I was able to remember..." Kasai couldn't help but lift his almost glowing eyes that cut through the messy locks of crimson hair now and lift them towards the grey sky that could just barely be seen through the mist locked grave site. Even as a young man who had just touched on the world of the shinobi, Kai had always been there protecting the village and it was his own words during that time which had led to the creation of the Reaper who now sat across from him. Never would have the old man have ever dreamed that he would find himself on opposite sides to the man who stirred the drive that led him over a mountain of corpses and through a river of blood to forge his name and strength within the village as a hunter-nin. This pillar of strength whom he'd always looked up to as a level of strength to reach...he was right there in front of him...he Mizukage. A title that caused others to shake in either fear or reverence...or both. "...but times have changed you from the man who created the code which I lived my entire life as a shinobi by."

Kasai found himself sighing out loud once more as his vision fell back onto the wet blades of grass that could be found in the space separating the Mizukage and himself. Though the Kage had already forged a course from which there was no return from, the situation was all to familiar for the bearded man who had once been placed in a similar situation. A situation where he needed to dispatch another but in the end found himself unable to follow through and complete the task, it was the last mission as a shinobi he had undertaken and the only one that had been such a complete and utter failure to the point that even his vast reputation and competence was called into question that ultimately caused for Kasai to retire. It was when the man had come face-to-face with his last living family member, his daughter, having tracked her down after she renounced the village and fled becoming a missing-nin. It was her face, the face of his late wife that caused him to initially hesitate and in the end he simply patted her on the head and told the young woman to be more careful before turning without another word to return to the village.

Even being confident in his level of strength, the man before him was the Mizukage for the entire half a century that he'd been alive, the amount of fighting experience was something one could hardly imagine, engaging in such a battle with the man their was no certainty of victory. Though the man didn't need to breath he appeared to suck in a breath of cold air through a set of barely parted, thin lips now. "Old friend..." He finally lifted his eyes from his own thoughts and brought the golden gaze onto the Mizukage once more as he continued to speak. "...is there no other way to settle this? You've been here for so long with only the concerns of the village to burden you down. Haven't you wished to once more travel and experience the world?" The Reaper didn't place much confidence in the plea to the old man to consider the consciences of what would happen if the two continued on their crash course with one another. "Perhaps you should let my generation worry about the village?" As he spoke his last words the gloved right hand lifted with is palm turned toward the sky as he spoke with his hand for a moment.

Post by Ace Trainer » Sat Jul 13, 2019 12:20 am

With the distance between them, it wouldn't be easy for either of them to launch the first attack. And if either of them tried to use ninjutsu, the other would see either the hand seals, or the chakra from them channeling. It wasn't exactly an easy situation to switch from. Kai's mind was running through the options as Kasai spoke, they knew how it ended, and as Kasai tried to flip the script on him, Kai couldn't help but wonder why they had even bothered trying to offer each other a shot at freedom. Kai would never accept it, so it would be obvious Kasai never would either. He expected Kasai had the same thought process. As the second ticked away, Kai knew the moments of a truce would be fleeting. It was time to act.

"Of course I have. Perhaps I should. But...No. I don't think there is."

And then he was in motion.

His body compressed into more like a serpent, his upper body launching forward, a tubular trail of water behind him. He was moving fast (43 spd), his artificial body able to accelerate itself through chakra control rather than physics meant he could cross the distance far faster than if he was running. His hand changed shape, a knife of water forming on his forearm, he pulled back and assault forward, throwing his hardened knife at the center of Kasai's chest. He knew the man was artificial just like him, and hoped perhaps this was where the core was. The faster this fight ended, the better. He needed not a long or strenuous fight, just to quickly end the life of his comrade so he could return to business and quell the insurrection that seemed to be rising among the elite within the village.

[PB] The Decision to fight or not to fight.

Post by Zao » Sat Jul 13, 2019 5:11 pm

'Of course not...'

This was the expected answer, but for the sake of his respect for this old monster who'd governed over and continuously brought Kiri into the forefront of strength during his rule as Kage the fellow old man had not attacked up to this point. After all, he wanted to glimpse into an see just what mind set the man had and if he had accepted some sort of truce or bargain then Kasai's opinion would have truly fallen. The only true way to live, lead, and rule was by strength and strength alone...it happened in a flash as the man moved with an unnatural method of movement, utilizing the strength of his elemental body to instantly accelerate now into a head on attack against the massive man who was still seated with his legs crossed. Though the attack was sudden and fast it didn't mean that Kai had caught the man completely off guard as the left and right hands came up in a defensive and almost reflex manner as the gloved left hand extended palm first towards the knife hand thrust towards him.

The watery blade attempted to dig into the black gloved palm, actually piercing out of the back of the hand as bits of rock and earth were knocked loose while the force of the blow itself pushed large figure backwards onto his back as his own elemental body was revealed as the black gloved hand pierced by the water blade suddenly attempted to tightly clench at the water knife. Kasai's own back smacked into the ground from the force of the attack causing for the ground to shatter and crack as tremors spread out from the impact into the area around them. 'How strong...' A faint smile lingered on the corner of the Reaper's lips, it had been quite a long time since he'd been on the receiving end of such an attack and it caused for his half open eyes to widen to about three quarters of the way open now. This would reveal the almost glowing golden irises as the two men were extremely close in proximity to one another at this point and for ever action there is a reaction.

This reaction came in the form of Kasai's right hand which had reached up as Kai's attack had driving him back into the ground in what seemed like a harmless action as though he was only attempting to touch the center torso of the Mizukage who had just attacked him. His body had the glow of earth hue chakra now as each of the five finger tips suddenly extended as earthen spikes that attempted to spear their way straight through the center of the old man's chest and possibly his core. Being a fellow elemental body user Kasai knew that the one true weakness to this so called immortal body was the 'core' which held what was left of their human existence, the one true fear that individuals like Kai and himself had in battle. Even if one was able to just slightly damage the core, it could spell fatal danger for the elemental body user.

Though Kasai was a bit different in that he'd taken his elemental body's design and pushed it to a completely different level as it contained not only his soul core but also four elemental cores., how ever it was unclear if he would need to draw out their strength to defeat the man in front of him. In an instants worth of time the two men exchanged deadly techniques meant to kill the other in what quite possible could be a single exchange...but things were rarely ever so ease and the man's body which had glowed with earthen chakra when the fingertips transformed to spikes and extended forward under the control of his chakra would only continue to grow brighter in intensity. It was time to fight for real...the time for talking was long past now...only death would await one of these men or if they were both unlucky then perhaps both would never walk away from this place...

[PB] The Decision to fight or not to fight.

Post by Ace Trainer » Tue Jul 16, 2019 4:00 am

Kai noticed the small smile forming on Kasai's lips, but it wasn't met with a smile back but instead a frown. Kai had always been something a pacifist, he took no pleasure in fights like this. He'd much rather it was over swiftly. The power the two exchanged was enough to send ripples through the mist, clearing out an area, sun breaking through and extending a beam of light onto them. Practically spot-lighting their 'contest' so to speak. Kasai had managed to guard against the attack, not something that explicitly surprised Kai, but an impressive maneuver none-the-less. He was about to collapse his body into a trap around the man when he saw the faint glow.

His eyes widened, he knew exactly what was going to happen, and Kai's own body glowed for only a moment before his back practically exploding, launching the core of his body into the air, his false body collapsing into water over Kasai. The silver ball, plain and lacking any ornate features, hurdled through the air at impressive speeds. Glowing briefly, the mist in the air that had been pushed away crowded suddenly towards the glowing orb, creating a strong cloud like effect as Kai's body formed around it, now floating 20m in the air, he weaved a series hand seals and 10 water bullets formed from the mist around him, shooting down on Kasai at 35speed with like strength. It wouldn't kill the man, but hopefully it would do enough damage that Kai could launch himself downward at the bannin and rip his core from his false body. He only needed a brief opening to get the attack in.

As his descended through the air, he dug his feet into the ground. "I take no pleasure in this.", he mourned. It was true, killing one of his comrades, especially one as technically proficient and powerful as Kasai was not a fruitful task, it was just as bad for the village as it was for his own morale, but things had to be done.

Digging his heel into the ground, he burst forward at Kasai, aiming to wrap his body around the bannin and envelope him in water.

[PB] The Decision to fight or not to fight.

Post by Zao » Wed Jul 17, 2019 9:39 pm

The impact of the water droplets impacted the elemental body but did not soak into the chakra cloak, instead running off the surface and dripping onto the cracked ground below the Reaper. A look of approval could be seen within the half open golden eyes of the old man, his opponent had an amazing level of battle sense from the numerous battles and wars that he'd taken part in over the past century. Living so long had its perks for sure as the long earthen finger spikes had just barely missed the fleeing man's elemental core, but it wasn't so surprising considering whom his opponent was after all. The elongated rock spike fingers of the right hand rapidly retracted as both hands turned palm down and he proceeded to smack the ground with each palm as the force was enough to upright the large man back onto his feet. 'This old man really does have some skill, it doesn't seem he's grown dull at all with either his battle sense or his control over his watery body.'

As the bodiless core began to rapidly accumulate the surround water and it would quickly reconstitute his foe's body, as the Kage remade his elemental body Kasai's left hand held a small clump of dirt which absorbed back into the wound created by the watery knife. Within a moment the large man's hand appeared as though nothing had happened, even the black glove on it appeared untouched as Kai himself had once more become whole. He stood within the brief spotlight created by the power of their exchange as though saying he was reach for a second round as the right hand had already formed a single hand seal in front of his broad chest. Both of the man's almost glowing eyes watched as the man began to rapidly form hand seals, the speed as just as fast as his own which made the man narrow his eyes.

Both arms began to glow as did the ground directly below his feet with a soft earthen color chakra, then the bullets of water rained down upon the man's position as earth floated up from the ground around him attaching itself to the Bannin's arms. The MIzukage was on the assault as Kasai chose to defend for now as he truly didn't know that much about the Kage's method of fighting aside from he had a water body and was obviously well versed in Suiton ninjutsu. Normally Kasai himself loved to be in close combat as it was there in which one was able to truly display the usefulness of his special body but against someone who was just like him and one that knew all the strengths and weaknesses of the body. "Come..." That ghostly whisper which the Reaper of Kiri had become so well known for seeped out onto the battle field as he began dodging back to avoid the water bullets that he could while using his two shield like arms to divert the four that were not able to be dodged from his range off to either side as they glanced off before slamming into the ground.

Ten small craters littered the ground in front of and off to each side of the large man who's hands were just below his chin as eyes widened slightly seeing the growing figure of the small man as he shot forward towards him. Both hands came together in a hand seal as he attempted to back pedal as though he wished to stay out of hand-to-hand range with the old man, at least for the moment. Chakra circulated through out his body before being pushed into his chest as he narrowed his eyes seeing that he wouldn't be able to outrun the quick little man. Seeming to be a step to slow as Kai would be able to catch up and use the benefits of his elemental body to do what watch does best, envelop around his own body. For the first time since acquiring his ancient armor, the man would actually have to expose one of its secrets, he had planned to hold this secret relic for later in the fight but the man had put him back onto his heels already. On the second row of different hue orbs that were concealed beneath his elemental body, a bright yellow orb began to glow with chakra as it entered into the perfected crafted sphere.

'Sorry old man...' With the watery body of Kai beginning to envelop his own bod the man activated the power of the raiton orb from the old breast plate which would send an electrifying current out from the plate and into the watery body of the old Kage. If this proved to have any effect on the man's false body or connected core then the Reaper would take the opportunity to attempt and snatch the shinobi's core. If that were to happen then that would truly be the end for his respected superior...

[PB] The Decision to fight or not to fight.

Post by Ace Trainer » Fri Jul 19, 2019 4:00 am

Kai had the advantage by staying on the offense. Hoping to keep Kasai on his toes he might be able to get him off balance to end the assault, and the fight, quickly. As he launched forward at Kasai his body expanded into a blanket of water, the finer details of his person fading away into the water in favor of tactical power. He was somewhat surprised the attack had been effective as he felt himself strike against the bannin. It was likely that Kasai, though a veteran shinobi, had little experience against shinobi with bodies like his own, which Kai recognized made it harder for him to defend against. Kai had the advantage of experience that allowed, even though rare, him to fight people with ...unusual features..more often.

When Kasai started to charge chakra, Kasai did the same, intending to crush the body he was enveloping, hoping ending with Kasai's body falling apart and Kai being left with nothing but an orb to destroy. However, as Kasai stopped charging, Kasai's attention turned to where the chakra surged, and he attempted to release his body, knowing exactly what was about to happen. The water surged backwards, but the action was reactionary. not proactive, and as the electricity surged through the chest piece, it released itself into Kai's false body.

The water fell away, lacking any of the strength or weight it had previously but instead splashing on the ground harmlessly. What was left was a core that Kasai snatched immediately. The mist in the air surged as the core had a faint glow, but it quickly subsided, the mist having closed in around them tight but not actually joining with the core.

"You've served dutifully.", Kai's voice radiated from the orb.

"Just let me go in peace.", this wasn't begging, the calm tenor of his voice instead was closer to the lines of an offer. Strange when Kai had little to give in this position, but perhaps hope.

The bright yellow lightning extended out from the hidden breast plate concealed within the Reaper's elemental body, being enough of a surprise that it allowed for the man to strike directly at the watery false body and in turn the current raced through the water as it attempted to evade. Right into the core of the shinobi which momentarily was able to stun the old man giving the opportunity for Kasai's right hand to extend and for the gloved appendage to snatch the heart sized core just as it started to fall from the air. Water could be heard as it fell onto the ground, splashing like normal water harmlessly upon the ground encircling the old man as his golden eyes transitioned back from three quarter the way open back to half.

Though it was much more difficult to experience emotions in the way he use to before transitioning his body to the elemental mixture that it was now, there was still something within his misty blue core that was like sorrow as the golden gaze lingered on the core within the large right hand with its fingers securely enveloped around it. "As did you, old man. Rest now. I will continue to serve our village just as dutifully as yourself." Perhaps the peace that Kai was not the same peace that was held within the mind of the large crimson haired man who had lowered the orb to chest level tilting his chin down to continue observing the orb. As he spoke back the ghostly voice of a dead man seep through the thin lips that were concealed behind the bearded face, then came a slow sigh...the decision had been made.

This very much so felt like the time when he'd held his daughter's live within the very same hand, but the sigh was only accompanied with a subtle glow of earth chakra in the arm as the orb was pulled into the doton based arm. Rock and earth churned around the durable core of the old man before after a few moments the material cracked, the single thin crack suddenly twisted and splintered into tens, then hundreds, before it would ultimately collapse. The powerful energy from the former Kage was drawn into the water Dao orb that was concealed within the man's chest cavity the water orb resonated with the powerful suiton chakra that had been stored up within the old man's life core.

"I see, what powerful water elemental chakra you possessed my old friend..." It was this very feeling, the feeling which caused for him to gain the last bit of understanding about suiton he needed to feel that he'd truly reached the peak. The chakra collected into the orb gave the man the realization of what he needed to do in order to empower the other orbs contained within him. "Thank you old man...now rest in peace." The glove right hand which had clenched into a fist this whole time now slowly unfolded itself revealing a fine powder like substance within the palm of the hand, it was the last remaining evidence of the once legendary ruler of Kirigakure. Turning back towards the graves of his son and wife, the man walked slowly back over to them, reaching them after a few moments as the left hand glowed with chakra and with a scoop of his and a large crater was formed.

Exhaling slowly the man tossed the dust like substance into the wet ground before with another swipe of the hand the earth filled back in the hole. Spending a short while there a pair of small headstone that was identical to the other two pre-existing ones had been erected as the third one had a single name carved upon it, "Kai" and the other had the name "Kasai" carved into its surface. By taking on this heavy burden as the new Mizukage the man had already understood that their was only one outcome for him in the end of all this, that in the end he'd end up just the same as the previous Kage. With his future grave prepared the man turned and allowed for chakra to flow throughout his body before he kicked off the ground floating upwards as though he could fly.

Turning for a moment to take in the scene from above one last time, the Reaper could only shake his head before turning his gaze in the direction of the village that couldn't be seen with the naked eye in the distance due to the thick fog. From this day forward he was walking a path that he wasn't completely sure was going but he would put things back as they should be within the village. First he needed to restructure the council after the recent attack against the big families by the now deceased Mizukage and then he wanted to push the expansion of Kiri into the lands of its neighbors...Kiri would be respected by the other nations, wither due to the village's strength or fear of that strength the old man didn't care. "Rest easy, I'll join you sometime and we can chat about the old days..." The ghostly whisper cut through the fog in a tone that could shake a man's soul, the man who formed his reputation and legend to some point with a mountain of bloody corpses had become the new Mizukage...
