[Suna Konoha Event Thread] Round Two!

Post by Zao » Sun Dec 16, 2018 10:20 am

A flash of white came to a stop near one of the more deserted looking training grounds, it was just a sand covered area like most of the outer village area with a number of training logs and projectile targets. Also included was a number of large boulders that one could tell were used for forms of taijutsu conditioning a pieces of the boulder were missing and a number of fist and foot sized indents in the stone structure were easily noticeable. The man's white hair surged forward from the sudden stop covering his lightly tanned face before whipping back to reveal the white robed shinobi, it was the newly reinstated jounin Saisuko Zao. A gentle smile could be found on his face as he scanned across the old training area as it was actually one of the main area's in which the jounin's former sensei had trained their team.

He felt that it was truly a fitting place to bring his new companion for a few reasons, firstly it was a bit out of the way so they wouldn't have to worry about to many others accidently getting in the way and secondly it was rather large being nearly a hundred meters by a hundred meters in dimensions. It would allow for the pair to truly express themselves against one another without the feeling of holding back due to accidently damaging the surrounding area. Zao had never gotten to experience the Konoha nin's strength back in the village and so he hoped to be able to see just how strong the specialist was. Plus it would be a good test for himself to hone his former skills and brush up on his fighting experience against a polished fighter. "What do you think my friend, will this do?" Turning his head to the left he spoke out to what seemed like the air itself as his friend should have been arriving momenterily...

"A bit...sandy," came the bass filled tone of Gene in response as he too, descended upon the vast and considerably hot training area. "But it will serve the purpose we intend to use it for." By then Gene was already taking the liberty to stretch and limber up his muscles in preparation for the match to come. Despite his experience Gene still found himself overwhelmed with the idea of facing off against a formidable opponent in battle for even though time had aged them, Gene did not forget what it were like seeing a tear in reality for the first time. If his intuition were anything to go by--and in Gene's case was, then Zao would likely be on an entirely different level from the man he'd faced so many months ago.

Without needing an open invitation Gene began walking away from Zao and stopped only when he were seven paces away from the man and then turned to face him with his right hand raised in the half ram hand sign; index and middle fingers pointed skyward, with the remaining fingers and thumb curled toward his palm. This act though simple and considerably old-fashioned, displayed Gene's readiness for battle with an opponent of equal standing henceforth the gestures meaning as a sign of confrontation. Furthermore, in holding the seal of confrontation Gene had also begun to build up his chakra in preparation for the use of future techniques. Meanwhile, Gene's left hand ascended above and behind his left shoulder finding the handle of Oath breaker as though the weapon had spoke to him.

"Let's dance."

"Aye, the Naegi focus mainly on the interior of the village for growing various plants and maintaining the herbal greenhouses. Out here it would be a waste for them to try alter the environment." Zao replied in kind to his friend’s comment about it being a bit sandy, though no one could deny that the sand was rather a pain at times, it truly did get everywhere and it made keeping things clean rather difficult, as well. The left hand would casually slip by his back pouch as it would remove a small scroll, as his friend began to walk forward without a word, the long white haired man was able to easily understand his intentions as the pair had ventured out to the training field for a sole reason. Each wondering just how much the other had grown since the last time they crossed blades in the Leaf village . It was now that the slender fingers of the left hand unrolled the scroll about a foot revealing a sealing diagram written inside on that snow white parchment contained within the scroll.

With but a hint of chakra the seal seemed to glow, just briefly, before the right hand passed by the seal formation and following in the feminine like right hand a poof of chakra smoke soon gave way to reveal a pair of straight blade ninjatō swords that were completely black from hilt to tip. Dropping the partially open scroll now the man then flipped the left palm upwards causing for a small distortion in space to appear in the shape of a baseball sized orb. Seeming to be a casual movement on the man's part, he tossed it forward allow for it to float to an area directly between the two shinobi as it expanded to a diameter of almost three meters across. The space was distorted slightly but each would still be able to see the other and their actions now as the man’s right hand came together with the other passing the second ninjatō into the left hand now.

Let’s begin then.” Taijutsu or genjutsu had never truly been the man's forte but he’d remembered the outcome of their last encounter and couldn’t help but want to fight at least a bit in close range to the man, even if it put him at a disadvantage. There would be time later to display such things as ninjutsu or his Tenku art or even the strength of his companions but for the movement the blade in the left hand was twirled slightly changing the grip into a reverse grip and then the man formed a single handed seal while holding the weapon. A faint blue outline of chakra seemed to appear instantly out of nowhere, the shinobi began to warm up his chakra circulatory system for the confrontation with Gene.

With a gentle bend of his knees the man pushed forwards, moving forwards and to his right the man’s path would allow for him to skirt around the distorted orb of space-time that he’d manifested a few moments earlier. It had more so been for distraction at the moment but it’s unique effect could also be used tactically later on depending on the situation. Sweeping around orb and advancing towards his comrade’s left side now, the man would deliver a dual horizontal strike of the two straight bladed weapons, one after the other as the left hand with its reverse grip would move cross body in order to then strike from right to left just before the right hand which would be slashed in the same manner and direction. His eyes trained on the unique sword across the man's back from earlier, it was something he didn't remember Gene having during their last encounter, where and when did he acquire such a thing?

Ninjatō x2 – Two solid black, straight blade ninjatō that sport a cutting edge on both sides of the blade. Both ninjatō are identical to one another having a blade length of two feet and a six inch hilt. When worn they are placed in an x-shape across his back or can be stored away in a scroll when not needed. Each have a [Fuuinjutsu • Flash Step Tag] engraved on the hilt.

[Expand Space: Complete Redirect]
C-Rank Jikukan Ninjutsu
After channelling chakra and forming an orb of Jikukan chakra within one of the user’s hands the size of a baseball, they can launch it up to fifteen meters away at a Speed of ten. This orb will then expand into a five meter wide sphere that gives the air within a wavy, almost warped look. If someone or something enters the warped space it will turn on an axis and perform a complete 180° rotation, returning along the path it came and consuming the distorted Space orb.

Gene observed the strange orb with childlike wonder and amusement even though he knew that it was more likely to harm him than to entertain. No matter how many times he had seen the application of distortions and rifts along his quests Gene never did lose his appreciation for Zao's mythical art form. Perhaps had he known the truth behind space time and it's origins his Fascination may have waned in favor of acquired knowledge but Gene, headstrong and youthful as he was, held no intention of breaking down yet another door before walking through the first. For now, Gene wished only to see how far his own skills would take him against this new threat.

With the orb expanding rapidly Gene had no choice but to stage a swift retreat exercising all of the grace of a practiced acrobat to leap and tumble, flip and spring himself just out of the imposed pull off the distortion in space time (a problem he noted, that would need to be dealt with at some point). His striking hand remained firmly wrapped around Oath breaker but Zao's aggressive pursuit did not yield Gene enough time to hoist the massive blade up and over his head for a block. Instead, Gene relied upon his own speed and a little foot work to slip back and away from the first swing aimed at him. As the weapon tore wind in front of him Gene noticed that both of the swords were connected by some sort of wire. I see... I'd been so focused on the jutsu he'd used before that I never saw him connect the two swords together. If I had never noticed that before now I could have been in a world of trouble. Gene furrowed his brow when he'd realized that his concentration had slipped and the second blade knicked him just over the bridge of his nose forming a thin red line where small traces of blood began trying to force it's way out.

Still, He withdrew further away from the large orb though not once after his realization did Gene remove his eyes from Zao. "Not a bad One, Two. Not bad at all."

So agile!’ The man seemed even faster and more nimble than he remembered him being during their last encounter in the Leaf village, it would appear that he wasn’t the only one who’d been working diligently to increase his own strength. The second blade seemed to be just fast enough to leave the faintest hint of a line as it every so gracefully brushed within a millimeters distance to Gene. With the end result being that a thin red line of blood slowly became visible with one small droplet of the man’s life essence at a time, a bit to the man’s surprise that he’d been able to achieve such a thing. Perhaps it was because the man had spilt his focus upon the distorted space that had been expanding and himself causing the brief moment of hesitation or loss of focus.

Though the man more so chalked it up to a bit of lucky honestly, he didn’t feel that such a thing would happen to the rather experienced jounin standing before him now, this man most likely far outclassed him when it came to close range engagements. As Gene withdraw further Zao pushed off to his right and didn’t pursue the retreating figure of the shinobi after the first two horizontal slashes of the pair of ninjato. “You inspired me to train my taijutsu and kenjutsu some, though I’m still a ways behind you, my friend.” Zao replied in kind now, a gentle smile gracing the thin lips of the blue eyed scholar as his long hair swayed from one side to the other as he came to a sudden stop after moving to his right three or four meters. “I can’t help but ask, when did you acquire that massive sword? I doubt I’d be able to withstand even a single blow from such a heavy weapon.

Even though the bout had begun, the spirit enthusiast wasn’t ready to dive straight into combat, at least not full fledged combat anyways and instead voiced the thoughts on his mind about Gene’s Oath Breaker. It didn’t seem like the style of weapon the shinobi he’d met in Fur country and then lastly in Konoha would be carrying. Seeming to Zao to be a more traditional style shinobi and thus he couldn’t help but be interested in what the backstory behind the monstrous weapon was...

[Suna Konoha Event Thread] Round Two!

Post by Legacy » Fri Apr 05, 2019 2:39 am

Knowing only that his attempt to create distance had not been stopped, Gene attempted first to flicker in and out of Zao's line of sight by using a combination of swift foot and leg adjustments resulting in a dash or better yet - strafe in either left or right directions in hopes of keeping the opponent on his toes as to what Gene's next move might have been. Had this act been successful Gene would then take advantage of his misdirection and slip quickly behind the cover of a boulder large enough to eclipse a dozen men where he would not hesitate to blitz through a single set of hand seals, molding his chakra instinctively.

Gene wanted to inspect those strings attached to Zao's weaponry but knew to risk a prolonged close quarters fight would only increase the risk of being pulled in by the gravitational sphere and not to mention the host of other clever tricks the man may have had up his sleeve. With these thoughts in mind Gene divided his chakra in half and distributed it evenly to a perfect Shadow Clone which was now crouched down on one knee to Gene's left. Without so much as a word, Gene then bolted forward and further away from Zao in search of better positioning; leaving his Shadow clone and Kami willing, unsuspecting opponent behind.

Meanwhile, the Shadow Clone did not remain idle. After taking a brief moment to assess the situation and surroundings, Gene's Shadow clone went through two short sets of hand seals and if not interrupted at this time it would create two more identical clones though unlike itself - these were not Shadow clones. One was but a novice level Katon elemental Bunshin and the other a standard Bunshin taught back at the Academy of his village but both were very useful jutsu when employed by a scholar Shinobi. "From what I can tell," Gene began as he stepped out from behind the large boulder and folded his arms over one another. "You're already on the path to catching up---not like I'll let that happen though." Gene's tone was warm and his expression of competitive fervor ever present...one would hardly ever guess that he'd actually just been a bunshin. "That's right...I didn't have it the last time we met in combat did I? This weapon is named Oath Breaker, it is a momento from a Comrade." The Bunshin looked off into the distance as if coming to terms with an old memory and then looked at Zao himself. "I admit it's a bit heavier than what I'm used to but I won't deny its beauty in battle and sure you can! Just don't get hit!"

From the start of their verbal exchange till the Standard Bunshin's elongated response, the Katon bunshin at this time will have had used the window of opportunity to attempt flanking Zao from the right. Gene had hoped that by exercising stealth and using his combat instincts he could sway his opponent into yielding in their first round by showing with actions what door of possibilities could have been opened. Doing so would not only make both of them better Shinobi but would overall strengthen the capabilities of their nations military fighting force.

Still observing from well hidden vantage points both Gene and his Shadow clone body double study the situation and calculate the next move.

*[Ninjutsu • Advanced Shadow Clone Technique]
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to 1/3rd the user's stamina). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies of the user in both appearance and substance. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but they will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed. Given that the clones are an exact replica of the user, they share the same stats except for stamina, which is determined by the number of clones presently in effect. The advantage of this form of the technique is that once dispersed, the chakra distributed to the clones returns to the user, allowing any un-used chakra to be regained, slowing the draining usage of this technique. The chakra returns to the user at a different rate depending on the user's control.

Katon • Flame's Shadow
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals, the user will create a copy of themselves out of katon chakra. The clone will be able to move with the stats labelled below, while also exploding with the force of a single exploding tag upon death into a burst of flames. The clone will only last for 3 posts.

b]*[Basic Jutsu • Clone Technique][/b]
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
After completing a set of handseals, the user forms a slight chakra 'body', thus creating a single, massless clone. The clone created from this technique is very basic and will dissipate when hit with anything. These clones do not possess vital signs or a unique chakra signature, meaning they don't disrupt the environment, and anything on their person is superficial. The clone has 1 in each stat. They are limited to basic movements.

'What an agile one.' The white haired man smiled as he watched the extremely fluid movements of his comrade now as he retreated toward one of the number of massive stone boulders placed throughout the vast training area, the stones being substitutes for trees in this region of the world for the shinobi training. Just from the display of the man's high speed and movement skills the man could already tell that even though he could most likely match his top speed he was still behind how fast Gene was able to accelerate his body and transition directions. Even with all the work he'd placed into learning in the area of taijutsu his skills in the field were really only average with any other jounin level combatant. But that was still decent considering that it was not something the man considered his forte by any means as he fought more so through his spirits and spacetime techniques instead of hand-to-hand when he could help it.

As the man disappeared behind the large stone feature on the training field the man would loosen the grip of the slender finger of the right hand now, gently tossing it point first into the soft sand below the men's feet as he brought the hand in front of him forming a single handed tiger seal. An invisible wave of chakra pushed outward forming a twenty five meter bubble of sensory chakra around his body now in order to increase his situational awareness of the combat area, though the man's opponent was still a bit outside that range and so he couldn't use the technique to figure out just what his comrade was doing behind there. While the bubble of sensory chakra pushed outwards the man smiled as he filled the finger tips of the same hand with chakra now, reaching into the right hip pouch as each finger touched the smooth metal pummel ring of a kunai.

This caused for a chakra thread to attach to the five kunai, with a gentle wave of his hand now the five kunai were drawn forth from the pouch as small two inch square tags could be seen attached to each kunai with a short piece of wire. The kunai floated for a moment before the man before with an arching motion of the hand and arm the kunai were evenly distributed in a one eighty degree fan in front of the man landing between thirty and forty meters away from Zao as they plunged lightly point first into the sand. His bright eyes would catch a glimpse of the man's bunshin revealing itself from behind the rock but from just the cursory glance and being out of range from the sensory technique Zao wasn't able to decipher that it was a simple genin level clone and not the original man. "Oath Breaker, what an odd but straight forward name. " The scholarly looking figure couldn't help but comment as four of the chakra threads disappeared and one slithered down and attached itself to the hilt of the ninjatō stuck in the ground.

"Haha." The mention of not getting hit caused for a short burst of controlled laugher to slip through the man's thin lips now, "I'll definitely try to take that advise to heart." As he replied to the clone now the distorted sphere of spacetime behind the man seemed stable and unmoving for the time being, only about ten meters directly behind its creator at this time. Normally in combat the man would have already had his two spirit pets preparing to attack and/or defend for him and he would be calling forth his spirit puppets and spirit companions to cover the battlefield but such things were reserved for actually combat. At the most he might end up introducing his friend to one or both of the two spirit pets, each wrapped around their own forearm of Zao currently, each mentally asking if the man wanted their help but he only told them not at the moment but he'd probably need them later on. He knew that his opponent was intelligent and a tactition at that, this would be a true test for him to see just how much each of them had grown since that initial meeting and the last time they crossed paths in Konoha.

*[Sensory Style • Beyond Senses]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: Ninjutsu/Control/Instinct stats of 10
This sensor jutsu is used by shinobi to feel chakra sources within a radius of 25 meters. While this jutsu is fairly helpful in sensing chakra, it is unable to actually pinpoint specific chakras outside of 10 feet. This only gives the Shinobi an idea of how many entities with chakra are present in their general area.

C-Rank Ninjutsu
The Puppetry Technique is a Ninjutsu technique used by puppeteers. By releasing chakra from their tenketsu, the puppeteer is able to release chakra strings from their finger. These strings are able to move a max of X times 2 meters away, where X is equal to the puppeteer’s control stat. This jutsu allows the puppeteer to attach their chakra strings to inanimate, chakra-less objects at a speed of 10. While an inanimate object is being controlled, it’s treated as if it has a speed equal to the average of the puppeteer’s taijutsu and control.

[Suna Konoha Event Thread] Round Two!

Even though He knew what was about to happen, Gene still felt a cold chill run down his spine as he watched the Katon bunshin approach it's target, Zao from behind. Although there was a certain measure of satisfaction to be had in watching his plans come together, Gene couldn't help but wonder why the man whom very shortly would be in for a ride awakening, had not opted to take their encounter more seriously. After all, with so much to be done in the world of Shinobi - their world, Gene wanted to believe that Konoha's allies were well prepared and able to be called upon if necessary; true, the two men might have been working diligently to establish a friendship but Both had their respective duties when all was said and done.

Having made it's journey uninhibited by obstruction, distraction or inconvenience the Katon elemenal clone found itself close enough to Zao now to touch the man had it reached out to its full wing span (arm length). A distance, Gene acknowledged as close enough to strike. "Yes, I imagine that you would try. Replied the simple bunshin who, like the Katon elemenal, had served it's purpose well.

"Except now, it's too late." Came a voice from behind the man; the chilling final words of one Elemental serving no other purpose than to incite shock & bring about revelation to a man estranged from reality, a Ninja's bane.

BOOM!

While the explosion itself would not have been strong enough to mortally wound Zao, the sound alone was nothing short of deafening. Flames were scattered this way and that way, threatening to devour with a vengeance anything of which could burn or be burned. Sand and debris were abundant but the clones of whom had spoken to zao before the incident were no longer present and Gene imagined that his Sun worshipping friend would become wise to the ploy albeit with some burns of his own to retain the lesson.

Gene was not a callous individual and would not take measures to inflict copious amounts of pain upon his comrade nor would he take the opportunity to speak Ill of the man's readiness for ever changing situations. He merely demonstrated with few words exactly why people like himself chose to remain vigilant and the potential consequences of the opposite. While he could only hope that the concept was not lost on the man Gene could not say for sure without another go and thus, it was time for his Kage bunshin to step in.

Abandoning it's cover and waiting instead out in the open where it could be clearly seen, the Kage bunshin waited and searched for any sign of Zao...

Though their were not any visual obstructs to the approach of the fire created clone, it's approach was not completely unnoticed. Even though Zao himself had let down his guard and didn't have his normal senses scanning the surrounding area that did not mean that his two spirit plant companions held the same aloof attitude towards the current sparring situation between their master and this unknown Konoha-nin. In this instance Hana wasn't of much help with her skill set but instead it was the golden thorn vine which was wrapped around the left forearm and wrist of the thin framed man that would notice the approach of the approach of the clone. Being part plant it had an adept sense of things in contact with the ground, even in the absence of sound, which caused for it to first notice the general direction of approach from the katon clone around twenty five meters from their current position.

Alerting its master mentally to the approaching movement the plant took action on its own to defend its master, channeling a bit of chakra into one limb which caused for the tiny half inch to at most one inch size thorns to loosen and in what could have only been described as a brief blur of gold that would extend from the wide sleeve as the plant didn't hold back one bit. Launching a set of ten thorn shuriken at he target when it crossed within ten meters of Zao but no closer than five, a range at which it was more precisely able to sense the advancing figures movement and location. With the clones level of speed it would not be possible to reach its desired distance and would be cut down resulting in the explosion of fire and heat in the creation's stead. The fingers of the right hand twitched as he brought the short bladed weapon firmly into the hand's grasp ending the string technique for the moment, his body half turning toward the direction of the clone's explosion now, the right and arm lifting to shield his face.

While the clone's explosion had been a relatively tiny one, the vibrations were still enough to cause the hidden vine within Zao's sleeve to become slightly disoriented, needing a couple moments to recover. Toge was truly a powerful spirit pet, but having to rely so heavily upon the vibration of others to fight explosive techniques were its bane. A faint smile hung on the man's thin lips as the bright blue eyes which had briefly shifted to observe the detonation area quickly transitioned back in the direction of the bunshin, 'How crafty...Gene is a fine shinobi.' Their wasn't even a hint of anger or such emotion, only praise for his comrade who was able to take things so meticulously and patiently, this man would truly be a scary foe to be an enemy with. From the force of the explosion it would have been unlikely for him to have received any serious injury from the blast, more so a wake up call from his opponent that even against friends one needed to remain conscious of the situation and the environment around them.

"Let's continue then my friend..." A slow exhale now slipped through the mature looking scholar's thin lips, though he wasn't quite prepared to unleash everything as he examined the level of tactics and skill of the Konoha did cause for him to almost frown slightly. With merely a simple thought sent to his two spirit pets they both became active now as from the right forearm a rose vine slithered out onto the back of the tattooed hand, forming hand seals as it did with its tiny claw like hands causing the area within five meters or so around Zao to gain a golden glow of chakra from the plant herself. Then under the will of the plant the sand began to levitate in random sized pieces that clumped together ranging from one foot to just over one meter in size that floated around her master rotating in a clockwise motion at a speed of five. On the other side Toge now allowed for a portion of its upper body to slither its way out of the left sleeve and down onto the back of its master's hand like the other plant had done. Two thin vines around three meters in length seemed to also extend past out into the air on the white haired shinobi's left side from the plant, these being its 'arms'.

'Toge focus offense, Hana focus defense, remember this is only a spar with my friend...' With the addition of the two spirit plants joining into the fray it would give the appearance that perhaps the man was part plant and human from a cursory glance, if one was able to see or sense normal chakra or even the unique spirit chakra they would be able to piece together the situation clearly. By this time the man's almost glowing blue eyes had already found the Kage bunshin who'd exposed himself freely from its former concealed position. Yet, the man didn't attack or make another move for the moment and instead was wondering just what plan Gene had thought up to fight with him. But he could only be certain of one thing in this now their third bout between the two men from allied villages, it wouldn't be anything like the previous two had been...both of them had grown significantly since either of the times in the past and experienced their fare share of things along they way. Perhaps each would get a chance to see the true strength of one another this time around...

User flair: Conflict begets Growth

[Suna Konoha Event Thread] Round Two!

Post by Legacy » Mon Jun 17, 2019 10:46 am

Steadfast and just as resilient as Gene himself, the Shadow clone took in each new piece of information about its surroundings with a cold deliberation. Ever conscious of its own limitations having been created from the mind and spirit of a tactician; the Shadow clone concluded that it would not have enough chakra or perhaps even the physical power to combat Zao in addition to these...strange new threats to the playing field. Moreover, there was still the strange tear In time to be concerned about - little by little or perhaps more, Gene recognized that his opponent had all but assumed dominance over the environment.

Imagine that...doesn't take much brain power to realize that I've been on the losing end of this bout.Cracking a smile, "Gene" decided then that he'd seen all that he needed to."So you're finally going to start taking this more serious then? Good." At his whim the Kage Bunshin dispersed, returning the unused chakra which surely would come in handy later on down the line. Only this time, rather than expose himself Gene opted to remain in hiding - surmising that he would have been a fool to chance his real body being harmed even if the attacks were preordained to be nonlethal. One nasty burn scar on his stomach was more than enough of a trophy as far as Gene were concerned...if he could help it anyway.

And so, it was back to square one.
Authors noteShow
Quick post from the library, let me know if I missed anything important. Also, if Gene or the clone was supposed to take damage I will include that in the following post. Working off borrowed time atm - quality of posts should improve some time in the next week as I get settled in, though.
