[Exam] Second Coming

To say he was nervous was an understatement. A colossal, ginormous, monumental understatement. The young man of twenty short years had never faced a task as scary as this before, he'd rather fight the Leviathan over and over again for 1000 years at this very moment in time than entertain the fact of what would happen if he failed. The first trial had been...interrupted and instead of traversing the wilds of Rock Country, Tatsuo had fallen into the Catacombs and stuck traversing it's more hidden, deeper sections before finding his way back into the region he knew proper. It had resulted in a new pathway in the monstrous caverns being opened up and a revelation of a forest and lake down there. Both shinobi and scientists flocked to the area in awe of what new discoveries lie in wait.

The young lord Akari, Tatsuo, stood and leaned against the front of mahogany desk in his heavily decorated office in the Jousai headquarters facing towards the door, his eyes travelling over the summons he had just received from the council and that old bastard, Ishidai. And then again. And then again, his eyes sweeping over the contents as he mouthed out the words. He read it another three times before the words finally settled in his chest. He took a deep, shaky breath before letting it all out in a long, single release. In one moment, his anxiety and fears were expunged from his self and his eyes steeled into hard purple orbs filled with determination.

He would not fail.

'The Second Trial is ready. We await you at Lake Hinomoto.'

Tatsuo's face shifted into a grimace as he reread two specific words in the letter before tearing it to pieces and turning it to dust with his fist. Lake Hinomoto was huge and the perfect place for Ishidai who relied on kinesis, both Suiton and Doton. No matter the environment they'd fight in, the man would have something to strike back with by having control of those two elements. His eyes shifted to the suit of armor and blades nicely polished and stored on his armor stand. Ishidai had a set of armor too, he'd had to be careful with it and that nasty spear he had. He doubted the man wanted to get in close with him, obvious reasons aside, so Tatsuo was expecting the man to have something in his back pocket to deal with his specialties. Before the feeling of apprehension came back, Tatsuo moved to the stand and removed his duster as he began to put it on. He stripped down to his black inner suit, the first layer of the armor, and removed his normal every day wear. The black inner suit was something he wore underneath his normal clothes now-a-days anyway as it was snug and familiar. The remaining pieces of the armor were put in place before Tatsuo grabbed the helmet. He turned it around in his hands, the face facing him, staring into its four eyes as he pondered the outcomes for several minutes.

His hands, hard and calloused, with broad fingers shaped by constant fighting gripped the helmet tightly before he flipped it around once more and lifted it to his head, sliding it into place before it retracted back and left his face free so he could talk. The final pieces, his katana and wakizashi, were strapped to his hips with their lacquered sheaths before he picked his duster back up and on. The sun was just rising over the land of Rock as Tatsuo exited his office and headquarters before making his way to Lake Hinomoto where the current Tsuchikage and council members awaited him.

The trip to Lake Hinomoto was one that took several hours for the Bannin. He didn't wish to expend all of his energy by running full speed to the location so he took it at a reasonable pace, conserving it and keeping himself at optimal levels. He stood out on the shore of the giant lake, his eyes drinking in the sight as he looked for Ishidai. He found the man standing in the center of the lake before turning his gaze to the shore as he looked for the council. He found them on the other side of the shore, far away from the immediate area, in some sort of protective booth. It was probably for the best considering the strength of the two men. Activating the Art of Water Walking, Tatsuo strode out to the center of Lake Hinomoto with one goal on his mind.

Win.

Ishidai had long awaited this day. For years he had known that the leader of the young trio of bannin had been making the necessary preparations to challenge him for the Tsuchikage mantle. Akari Tatsuo was young, but his with accomplishments and his frighteningly fast growth as a shinobi, the kage was certain that he was a young man worthy to be considered for the position. In his many years as Tsuchikage, Ishidai had seen quite a few challengers but all of them had failed, many before the second trial. Those who had made it to this stage had be strong, certainly, but they proved to be easy picking and were no match for the man.

Tatsuo, however, was sure to push him much further than those pups.

As Tatsuo approached the man smiled, though there was not an ounce of warmth in the gesture. He was prepared for this fight, he had longed for this fight, and he was itching to get started. His grip on his monstrous naginata tightened, and when Tatsuo had taken several steps out into the water the kage spun it in his hand, tossing it above his head. As the weapon rose above him he flew into a set of seals, and by the time he raised his hand again to catch it, he released a slow-moving wave of chakra into the water below him.

The water churned, giving off the telltale glow of an object manipulated by chakra. The man himself then began to glow, and at his side a glob of water formed and twisted midair, forming a dripping dragon head. It opened its mouth, the violently churning water sounding like a threatening roar, and Ishidai prepared himself for the battle of his life.

[Exam] Second Coming

Post by Niro » Fri Apr 24, 2020 8:27 pm

He hadn't been expecting Ishidai to start right off the bat, the second he stepped foot onto the lake, but it made sense. Strike first, strike hard. He had expected some sort of words exchanged between the two of them but the old Tsuchikage was old for a reason. Not many made it past the age of fifty being active shinobi, and Ishidai was one of the few shinobi in the world pushing sixty with no drop in his strength from his prime. Truly a frightening foe. Tatsuo ignored the naginata toss but instead focused on just what those hand seals spelled out for him. The tell tale glow of chakra infusion spread across the water immediately surrounding the Kage before it began to churn and a Water Dragon formed, its mouth ready to fire off projectiles.

Tatsuo had stopped the moment Ishidai had begun to make a move, his eyes locking onto the man as he took one last deep breath in preparation. He wanted to end this fast, before he could give Ishidai any chance to really turn the heat up and use the entirety of this arsenal. The Bannin channeled the needed chakra to his melashiin and temershiin, the dark violet, almost black tentacles pushing through the opening in the back of his armor and writhing in the air around him in anticipation as he removed his maroon duster and tossed it onto the shore. The Akari had been trying to implement kenjutsu into his combat style but right now he didn't trust bringing something so unrefined into a battle against a Kage-level opponent. Keeping it in his back pocket and utilizing it when absolutely needed would be best for now.

The distance between the two wasn't huge but it wasn't small. A good sixty meters before the two gave Ishidai enough of a buffer to prevent him from rushing in or using his usual finisher jutsu. He'd have to fight for every inch in this fight; something he didn't have to do often and truthfully, he was looking forward to. Tatsuo began to generate strength in his legs before bursting forward towards the man, intent on throwing off his focus and gaining momentum in his favor. His twelve shiin tentacles were poised forward at the ready to intercept whatever was thrown at him as the Bannin closed in on the Kage in front of him.

[Flash Assault]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 30 Speed
Pushing his speed to his absolute limits, Tatsuo will utilize this technique in order to approach his target in a manner that throws off their concentration and makes his next attack unpredictable. This approach is made more or less effective depending on the opponent's abilities.
Perception Technique one rank less than Tatsuo's Speed = Tatsuo's movements appear distorted as long as he continues to move at full speed.
Perception Technique two ranks less than Tatsuo's Speed = Tatsuo becomes a complete blur as long as he continues to move at full speed.
Perception Technique three ranks less than Tatsuo's Speed = Tatsuo is almost completely invisible as long as he continues to move at full speed.
disciplines passively activeShow
~[Perfect Balance]
D-Ranked Discipline Taijutsu
Type: Melashiin, Temershiin, Phasmashiin, Eroshiin, and Lacrishiin.
Due to training with their shiin, Akari members are much more at balance than those without a shiin. This holds especially true for those with temershiin, as the tail-like protrusion provides a counterbalance. This also allows for clan members to use their shiin as legs for balance, if able.

[Quiet Steps]
D-ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Stealth] Concentration
The user has learned to move silently, and does not produce any sound when walking. They cannot be heard unless the person listening for them has a like-ranked Perception technique.

[Incoming]
C-ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception] Concentration
The user has attuned their hearing to subconsciously listen for the sound of things moving through the air and alert them when picked up. This allows them to hear and become alert of projectiles flying at them from a general location, even if they can’t see them. This technique does not work in enclosed areas where sounds can be distorted.

[Trained Nose]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception] Concentration
Over time Tatsuo has developed a keen nose. He can pick up on faint scents that average shinobi wouldn’t even notice to the point where he can distinguish the individual body scents of people as well as determine specific species of animals even by just a strand of hair. The passive range of this ability is 40 meters though if he has picked up on a trail he can continue to follow it to its source assuming there are still scent particles in the air or physical remnants of a trail.

[Trained Ears]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception] Concentration
Tatsuo’s sharp senses allow him to pick up on slight sounds within a 40 meter radius of himself. This can range from the sound of a weapon being drawn, a projectile in flight or subtle footsteps and sounds of light breathing. In terms of eavesdropping he can discern a conversation at such a range as if he were standing next to the person whom is speaking.

[Awareness]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception] Concentration
The user has learned to pay attention to their opponent's minuscule movements preceding an action and other things in the midst of a fight. The longer the fight goes on, the more details about the opponent will become noticed by the user. The user can only notice and follow those with a Taijutsu equal to or lesser than their own.

[Silent Steps]
B-ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Stealth] Concentration
The user has trained to stay silent when moving at their full speed unless the foe has a like-rank Perception technique. If the user sticks to walking rather than running, they won’t be able to be heard regardless of the foe possessing advanced hearing techniques.

[Close Quarters]
B-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisites: Shiin Usage
When in enclosed areas, the user may find themselves with limited space and find it difficult to get the full force out of their attack. No matter the angle, the user who practiced this discipline will be able to get full strength from their attacks even if they can't extend them fully.

[Recognition]
B-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
Humans are being of habits and patterns, this is no exception in combat, ranging from taijutsu to hand seals. Patterns already being easier to remember, the user has worked hard at actively committing whatever he sees to his short-term memory. This allows him to remember things such as the beginning wind up to a strike or a hand seal pattern after seeing it once, so that he can recognize the technique if used later in a battle. This gives him an advantage in anticipating his opponents next action and makes an opponent’s consecutive usage of a technique a liability.

[Titan’s Strength]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 30 Strength
The user has trained their body and as such can use their oversized shiin/weapon with such ease that the usual encumbrance of such large weapons is as if nothing to them. This allows the user to use their shiin/weapon with the same speed and control as a smaller, more easily controlled weapon, such as a ninjato or katana. The benefits of this are incredibly useful, as this allows them to attack with incredible speed and accuracy without sacrificing their power, as well as block efficiently between blows.

[Tremorsense]
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Tatsuo is sensitive to vibrations in the ground and can automatically pinpoint the location of anything that is in contact with the ground within a 60-meter radius. While underwater, Tatsuo can still use his tremorsense by backtracking the vibrations that carry in water.

[Titan’s Grip]
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 35 Strength
The user has become so adept at using his heavy phasmashiin that he can do so one handed with no penalty. The user can perform any Shiin Usage taijutsu of A rank or lower single handedly, and can maneuver their shiin fluidly and accurately with only one hand. This has the added benefit of freeing up their other hand, allowing them to use their other hand for a variety of purposes while maintaining an offensive advance.

[Feel No Pain]
A Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 35 Endurance, 35 Strength
A user with this technique has trained themselves to ignore even the most painful of wounds. This isn't to say that the damage of the wound is ignored; a grievous wound will still cause damage to the user's body and could inhibit their abilities or kill them outright. This discipline simply allows the user to treat pain as if it doesn't exist through shear force of body and will, allowing them to charge straight through attacks and jutsu to deliver their onslaught of attacks.

[Spatial Awareness]
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception] Concentration
The user has undergone years of training their hearing to levels that are beyond human. The user is able to pick up and detect the faintest of whispers, the softest of noises, and even those with lower ranked [Stealth] techniques. This jutsu will not pick up foes with a [Stealth] technique equal to or exceeding its rank.

[Vacuum Steps]
A-ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Stealth] Concentration
The user has mastered producing no noise while utilizing their full speed. While either running or walking the user is unable to be heard by foes unless they are using a like-rank Perception technique.

[Flicker Proficiency]
A-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception] Concentration, *[Ninjutsu • Body Flicker Technique]
The user has become accustomed to and is no longer affected by the lag of the *[Ninjutsu • Body Flicker Technique] through repeated usage and practice of the jutsu. After performing the jutsu the user is able to instantly attack or defend rather than suffer the momentary lag accompanying those not acclimated to the jutsu.

[Instant Acceleration]
A-rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 50 Strength
The user has trained their body to utilize their full speed without any build up or using any excess energy. This allows the user to use their max speed while operating in the midst of a fight or even from a dead stop as if they were just jogging casually.

[Lie Detector]
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: [Perception] concentration, [Trained Nose], [Trained Ears]
By using his enhanced senses of smell and hearing, Tatsuo is able to act as a type of natural lie detector by detecting the faint change in a person's heartbeat and scent due to perspiration when a lie is told. This is rendered ineffective against those who have an A-Rank or higher Stealth technique to fool Tatsuo's senses, or those who do not have a heart beat or sweat glands (i.e. Elemental Body).

[Echolocation]
S-rank Taijutsu Discipline
The user has learned how to utilize sound to provide them with a form of a sight. Mimicking the Echolocation of animals such as a bats and dolphins, the user has learned how to use coughs, clicks, and other noises they produce to 'see.' Each time the user makes a noise, it travels 80 meters and provides them with a mental 3D image of the surrounding area. They can detail size, shape, surface features, and density but cannot details such things as color.

[One Chance]
S-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 45 Willpower
Tatsuo has trained to fortify his mind and body against the horrors of torture and interrogation through rigorous training over the years. He has trained himself to be able to resist all manners of physical and mental prodding, pain and anguish and instead channel the suffering inflicted upon him into increasing his will to resist. In order to achieve this stance, Tatsuo must sit still for a post while he focuses on the what is to come. This technique can last for a maximum of 10 posts.

[Saraswati's Vision]
S-Rank Discipline
Prerequisites: 50 Speed
Tatsuo's eyes are able to follow high speed targets due to his body being used to operating accurately at his own insane speed. His eyes are capable of keeping up with 50 speed objects, persons, and his own blazing fast speed up to 50 due to the immense training possessed at operating at these speeds.

[Watching Closely]
S-Rank Discipline Taijutsu
Prerequisite: [Perception] concentration
Possessing immense battle sense and perception, Tatsuo is aware of even the most subtle details around him, to a point where he can even pick up on the slightest tension changes in an opponent’s body allowing him predict their movement before it is complete or even read what someone is writing by the way their pencil moves. At times his eyes seem to move on their own will, rapidly tracking an amount of movements equal to his [Speed]/2.

*[Iaido • Ancestral Focus]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The hallmark of Iaido is its practitioners abilities to launch an attack even when their swords are sheathed. This Discipline represents the practitioner's capacity to consistently execute a sword draw and slash all in one movement by gripping the edge of the scabbard and pulling the scabbard slightly forward before drawing the sword. This Discipline enables the practitioner to immediately draw their sword and attack at the start of combat.

*[Iaido • Weapon Mastery]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Since Iaido is a style that prioritizes speed over brute strength, wise usage of the blade is paramount to the practitioner's success in the style. This Discipline represents the practitioner's knowledge of their weapon's strengths and weaknesses in combat, allowing them to use the weapon more efficiently both inside and outside of its use in Iaido techniques and avoid unnecessarily presenting their weapon's blind spots to the opponent.

**[Iaido • One with the Sheath]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 8 Speed.
The practitioner has learned how to more quickly and efficiently sheath his blades. The practitioner can now seamlessly transition from drawing their blade to slash to sheathing their blade, allowing the practitioner to sheath their sword in half the time, up to a maximum speed equal to their Speed score, for the more rapid execution of Iaido techniques.

*[Iaido • Shinigami Draw]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Losing the use of one's hand or arm in a fight can be a death sentence, but Iaido has found a simple, elegant response to this desperate situation. Using their free hand, the practitioner momentarily braces the edge of their sword against the inside of the scabbard before drawing. While it does not confer the instant acceleration benefit of its parent technique, this Discipline does allow the practitioner to use Iaido techniques at their normal speed even with only one hand.

*[Iaido • One with the Sword]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): *[Iaido • One with the Sheath].
The practitioner has learned how to more quickly and efficiently sheath his blades even without the use of both hands. The practitioner can now sheath the blade just as quickly with one hand as could be done with two hands, and so long as the scabbard remains on their person, the practitioner will always have an exact knowledge of the position of their scabbard.

*[Iaido • Ancestral Visage]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Using Iaido to its fullest requires a keen eye and quick reactions, enabling its users to target weaknesses and openings that their opponents present almost instantaneously. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to attack openings that present themselves, the practitioner now able to reflexively attack an opening in almost the same moment that it is observed. This Discipline reduces the gap of time between a practitioner recognizing a potential opening for attack and launching the attack to exploit said opening to almost nil.

*[Iaido • One with the Spirit]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): *[Iaido • One with the Sheath], *[Iaido • One with the Sword].
Through incredible amounts of practice, the practitioner of Iaido has learned his weapon and its housing inside and out. The user of this weapon can now reflexively sheath their sword in its scabbard almost instantaneously by instinct with either one hand or both hands without even looking. This facilitates further use of other Iaido techniques.

*[Iaido • Spectral Flight]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 15 Strength, 25 Speed, *[Iaido • Ancestral Visage].
In order for Iaido to stand toe to toe with a variety of high-level opponents, refining fundamentals to a new height is necessary. This Discipline represents the practitioner's ability to more quickly accelerate to max movement speed and decelerate to a full stop at a moment's notice. This does not offer protection against attacks that the practitioner does not know is coming.

*[Toryu • Cobblestone Skeleton]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 8 Strength.
A practitioner of Toryu is capable of attacking with every part of their body, even their heads. This Discipline represents the practitioner's capacity and experience with executing palm strikes, heel strikes, knee strikes, elbow strikes, and headbutts/skull bashes just as effectively as regular punches, kicks, and sword strikes. This Discipline allows the practitioner to consistently execute these kinds of attacks while minimizing or eliminating openings in their defenses or shock/damage they would experience while using these kinds of strikes.

*[Toryu • Lethal Familiarity]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Many of the Toryu techniques would put the user in incredibly daring positions where a single mistake could instantly spell disaster for the swordsman. As a result, Toryu practitioners must train themselves constantly to avoid letting their fears distract them from their task. A practitioner with this technique has learned to shut out fear in the heat of combat, allowing them to perform attacks and techniques without the risk of failure due to fear responses.

*[Toryu • Granite Epitaph]
B-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 25 Strength.
After much training with grappling, clinching, blocking, deflecting, and parrying weapons, the practitioner gains skin as sturdy as rock, allowing them even more avenues for defense and attack. This Discipline represent's the practitioner's body conditioning for toughening their skin all over their bodies, especially on their hands. This makes the practitioner's skin harder to cut or penetrate, and it allows the practitioner to perform normally self-destructive feats, such as blade catches, without needlessly harming themselves.

*[Toryu • Searching For Hope]
A-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): *[Toryu • Granite Epitaph]
Extending additional uses to the body conditioning of the hands, Toryu practitioners are skilled in parrying and deflecting attacks with their bare hands. This Discipline represents the practitioner’s capacity to defend against weapon attacks with their hands whenever they wish to do so. This is executed by placing their palms against the flat of the blade or around a non-damaging section of the weapon and pushing or deflecting the weapon away. This Discipline is ineffective against weapon attacks with a higher Strength than the practitioner's Strength stat.

The sixty meters between them was bound to be shortened. When Tatsuo stopped walking, Ishidai mentally measured the gap between them and knew the younge bannin was well out of range of his water dragon projectile. Tatsuo was a close-range fighter and was bound to rush forward to put pressure on him. The Akari didn't disappoint, and he disappeared in a flash. His speed was as impressive as his reputation had indicated, and Ishidai found he was unable to perceive the bannin's movements. However, there was more than one reason he had waited for Tatsuo in the middle of the lake.

Although Tatsuo's exact body movements weren't possible to see, the water being displaced assisted the man in tracking the Akari's location. Ishidai knew he had mere seconds before Tatsuo was within range to use those damned stomach-churning tentacles. The Tsuchikage leaped backward, putting him roughly ten meters behind his original position. Before his feet touched water once more he swiftly raised his naginata upward, sending the chakra-infused water rushing upward to form a churning wall. The man spun in a full circle and the wall followed his movements, spreading out and surrounding him on all sides. He had no intention of going easy on the Akari, so the water moved at his full power. For fun, he tossed his naginata into the swirling water and it spun around violently, using the water as an axis.

Ishidai then channeled his chakra into the water beneath his new position, giving him a second source of fuel. He readied himself, standing in the middle of the vortex that swirled in a thirty meter diameter around him.

Tatsuo circled wide around the reigning Tsuchikage as the water wall formed and spread around him. He smirked, knowing the old man couldn't see him right now and would have to rely on other means to detect him. Taking advantage of it, he circled behind the old man while making a short set of hand seals while slowing down and a clone made up of Raiton chakra sparked into existence besides him, also running atop the water's surface. The duo reaccelerated to top speed and circled around the circular vortex wall of water Ishidai was conjuring up, keeping 20 meters between them and where the water stopped visibly raging with Ishidai's chakra.

Tatsuo nodded his head at the clone who jumped and activated the greaves of its armor and took to the sky. It flew above the circular wall of water with its own writhing tentacles tailing behind it before flying down at Ishidai with tentacles at the ready. It closed in, tentacles poised to grab and tear at Ishidai unless he counteracted.

Tatsuo, meanwhile, shifted his stance while running them gathered strength in his melashiin tendrils while circling round the wall of water as he began to generate afterimages that trailed behind him which mimicked his movements. As the afterimages hit 10, Tatsuo released the pent up strength in his melashiin towards Ishidai's defense intent on tearing it apart and raining blows upon both his clone and the old man.

Ishidai knew the assault was approaching. Would the Akari come from above? Or would he take the risk of breaking through the wall of water? He was soon answered, his eyes finding the blur of the Tatsuo-clone as he flew into the air above. As Tatsuo-clone ascended Ishidai outstretched his hand and the water dragon coiled and was launched toward him, matching his speed with its maw opened wide and preparing to swallow him whole.

At the same time down below Ishidai anticipated a counter, but was mildly surprised when the wall of water was shattered behind him and slightly to the right. The Tsuchikage reacted quickly by raising and closing and outstretched hand into a fist. The water followed his command, condensing around the naginata and forming a still-spinning water wheel. The bullets crashed into the suiton one after another and burst into fiery balls. The surprise attack alerted the old man that there was another source of attack besides the Akari that had launched himself in the air. With the rotating wall of water destroyed and repurposed, Ishidai could now see the trail of disturbed water that gave away Tatsuo's position.

'Two targets then.' Ishidai answered by forming his own clone. It appeared a meter to his left and immediately flew into hand seals, gathering a massive amount of chakra in preparation for his next attack.

Tatsuo-clone began to gather strength in his melashiin tentacles as the water dragon coiled in preparation and then launched at him right after, it's gaping maw intent on crushing him back into the nothing he had come from. He shot six of the twelve tendrils out as his strength reached its peak and fired off six pressure blasts into the outstretched maw of the aquatic serpent. The first was consumed as if it was nothing inside the water, the only indication it did anything was the bulging portion of the dragon's throat and then the second followed suit, another bulge along its body. The third full-strength pressure blast turned the water dragon into nothing but a torrent of free falling water as it struck home and the three others closed in on Ishidai with him not far behind.

Tatsuo, meanwhile, acknowledged Ishidai figuring out one of the two was a clone as he witnessed the old man create his own Suiton clone. He saw it fly through hand seals and was alerted as the water immediately surrounding them, and even to him, began to glow with chakra as a jutsu was prepared. Not taking any chances on what could be conjured up, Tatsuo was not about to allow the clone or Ishidai to finish. He continued his circling at full speed before activating his greaves and taking to the air, his footfalls no longer evident in the water. Tatsuo waited a moment before altering his flight path, this time flying straight towards the two Ishidai's.

With his water dragon destroyed and the two Tatsuos closing in, it seemed like Ishidai was in trouble. Indeed he was feeling the pressure, but the impending danger made his heart race in anticipation. He hadn't felt this excited in years. His lips turned upwards into a tiny smile and the clone mirrored the expression. Clone Ishidai turned its attention to the Tatsu-clone and its three pressure blasts, reacting as quickly as he could as the dragon projectile was pummeled. He clenched his hands shut and then so that the chakra infused water below him rose with his motion. The suiton condensed, forming a wide whip of water that the clone used to strike in a sweeping motion, aiming to destroy the pressure bullets before they could reach the main body.

But the clone wasn't fast enough. Although the speed of his jutsu could keep up with Tatsuo, the man's body was a different story. By the time he had reacted and formed the water whip the bullets were already on top of him. The clone braced itself as the pressure bullets struck. The first bullet hit the water with immense force, causing it to lose its shape. The second hit immediately after and utterly destroyed the water technique. Knowing its short existence was up and that Ishidai must be protected, the clone used itself as a body block and took the brunt of the final bullet with full force. The clone was engulfed by a wall of steam on impact, and although it survived the bullet it had done so just barely. It wouldn't be long before the clone dispersed.

Nearby, Ishidai had completely lost sight of the young bannin. He could already only see the Akari's footfalls in the water; when those disappeared, Ishidai could only assume Tatsuo had taken to the air in the same manner as his clone. With his jutsu building up still, the Tsuchikage did not want to give Tatsuo the opportunity to close the distance between them further. As soon as he lost sight of the young bannin's footfalls, Ishidai eased up on focusing the chakra in his feet. He sunk into the water just as his clone was clone was hit by the bullets.

Doubting the clone had survived the attack, Ishidai knew it was now or never. With a long, sweeping motion he released the jutsu he had been charging and pushed his hands downward. At that moment the water pushed outward at such a high velocity that it parted the lake, and Ishidai was soon standing dozens of meters below his original position and once again channeling chakra to the bottom of his feet to stand atop the water. A twisting ring of water with long tentacle-like protrusions swirled dozens of meters around him, daring Tatsuo to pursue him into the depths of the lake.

Tatsuo-clone continued it's flight path towards Ishidai as the wall was destroyed by two blasts and the clone was strike was the last one, a light steam rising but not enough to deter the clone. It continued forward, it's shiin coming forward as it closed in on the water clone and crashed right through it and into the water as Ishidai sank deep below the depths. The clone's momentum was slowed briefly by its entry into the water and the new resistance it had to cut through, providing the Tsuchikage just enough time to finish his jutsu.

The wall of water shot forward like a missile and impacted the clone as if it had run into a wall of diamond. The combined force of the Tsuchikage's jutsu and it's own momentum proved to be enough to destroy the clone, it's body disappearing in a small burst of static beneath the waves.

Tatsuo flew toward Ishidai as his clone destroyed the other clone but cut his blitz forward to an immediate stop when the old man disappeared beneath the waves. Rushing in now would be bad and he found confirmation in this as the water of the lake glowed with chakra and an an immensely tall ring of water pushed outwards. Tatsuo hovered in the air for a mere moment as he stared at the approaching ring of water, his mind deciding whether to commit or flee.

'Fuck it.'

He shot upwards and angled himself to fire through the wall and into the crater of water Ishidai had formed for himself as the water ring closed in. The twelve melashiin tentacles trailing behind him immediately tensed up as he committed to beginning to end this fight. He gathered strength in his fists as he flew upwards before all twelve limbs shot forward. Ishidai wanted to send a wall of water at him? Fine, he'd send back his own wall of blazing hot compressed air. The twelve pressure blasts immediately rocketed forward as his limbs reached the climax of their strike. They impacted against the ring of water, seven of the fourteen shots being used to completely dominate and destroy Ishidai's jutsu while the remaining seven were intent on burying Ishidai within his crater.

Ishidai was a rather hardy man, and his superb chakra control ensured that his jutsu were even more capable of taking hits than he was. Unfortunately, even the godlike strength of his jutsu wouldn't be able to hold firm against that of Tatsuo and his fourteen-strike attack. His water wall disintegrated into a wall of steam upon impact, leaving a huge opening and blurring the area around the Tsuchikage. He had already found it exceedingly difficult to keep track of Tatsuo while he was in the air. The added obstacle of the steam made the task fully impossible; all he could rely on was the direction of the attack, but by the time he figured out where the Akari was coming from, it was too late.

There was only a few seconds to react, and although his jutsu could move much faster than he could ever hope to do on his own, he wasn't granted enough time to properly defend. He would have to somehow brace himself as the huge bullets rocketed in his direction. Rather than completely destroying the entire ring, Tatsuo's attack had only disrupted around two-thirds of it; there was still a small amount of water on the opposite side to where the pressure bullets had penetrated his jutsu. This was lucky for Ishidai, but only just so. He waved his arms, his movements no longer confident, swinging them from his sides to directly in front of him. The suiton obliged, rushing towards the Tsuchikage's front side.

The result was calamitous. The suiton just barely converged into the needed position before the pressure bullets exploded against it. Unlike the wall that had been destroyed earlier, this wall wasn't solid. Instead it took the form of a lattice with too-large openings and it hadn't fully surrounded the man. Three of the bullets hit the suiton and evaporated, but there was not enough water and not enough coverage to provide a real defense. The remaining four bullets ripped through the water, their power only marginally reduced by Ishidai's suiton.

The impact sent Ishidai flying into lake water that had been pushed outward by his jutsu, and the void he created in the lake began to rapidly fill. Within the lake Ishidai's body was broken and battered, but somehow the stubborn Tsuchikae clung to consciousness and life.

Tatsuo hovered in place for a moment after the pressure bullets struck true and found purchase with Ishidai. The raging waves of the lake began to calm before he ran through a series of hand seals and a second clone made up of Raiton chakra sparked into existence besides him, greaves activated upon creation. The maroon haired Bannin nodded to the clone who responded in kind by flying down and under the waves in search of the now missing Tsuchikage.

Tatsuo himself was hesitant on going beneath the waves; he was unsure of if it was a plan of the old mans or if he was seriously having issues with the damage he had been dealt. For now, he awaited whatever his clone found beneath the waves.

Several seconds passed as Ishidai's limp body floated in the churning water. He fell briefly into unconsciousness, and through sheer force of will he woke himself and tried to move. He momentarily forgot where he was, but the small rush of water that filled his nose and mouth when he tried to inhale quickly reminded him of his situation. He could barely move. Swimming to the surface was near impossible for the Tsuchikage, but he had performed difficult feats against all odds before. This time, however, was different. Each time he tried to move his arms and legs his body would refuse to respond. Water had entered his lungs already, and although he had enough bodily control to push through each passing second increased the danger of his body giving out.

Ishidai managed to kick his legs. It was some of the most excruciating pain he had ever felt: his muscles screamed at him, his bones seeming to shake and shift within his body like a bag full of loose change. His body rocked with agony, and another attempt at swimming to the surface sent a jolt through his chest so agonizing that he inhaled sharply reflexively. Water rushed into his mouth and he choked soundlessly in the depths. Large bubbles erupted from his nose and mouth, floating quickly to the surface and popping almost forlornly.

The Tsuchikage had another minute - maybe two - before his beaten body would began to give out in earnest. Although the lake's surface still churned and twisted violently, beneath beneath the waves was calmer. All Tatsuo-clone had to do was locate the bubbles erupting from the man and hopefully save him before he lost consciousness for good.

The helmet of Tatsuo-clone was designed to filter out particulates but it provided a limited resistance to water as well, the helmet slowly filling with water compared to a normal helmet as the clone dived deeper under the depths of the lake. It pushed through the dying yet still raging waves created by the previous jutsu of the Tsuchikage, it's body protected by the blows from the armor surrounding it. Pushing through the currents, It's eyes soon found the escaping trail of bubbles and dove directly down into the creeping blackness of the lake's depths.

Reaching its shiin out, the clone gently cradled the Tsuchikage before changing directions and pushing itself to the surface at a fast pace knowing the old man was low, if not empty, on air based on the air bubbles it had seen meet their demise on its way down. Breaching the surface first the clone climbed into the air as the Tsuchikage followed immediately after. Tatsuo shot his arm out, directing the clone towards the shoreline where the judge's box was hosted which the clone immediately followed, his creator hot on his tail.

The clone landed gently on the shore and placed the wounded Tsuchikage down on the ground next to the box while Tatsuo hovered in the air looking down on them all.

As soon as the Tsuchikage was retrieved there was a flash of movement from the council box. Within seconds the man was surrounded by Sakata Kanna and Enkouten Kaizen, two of the shinobi council members who were Ishidai’s staunch supporters. Kanna, her brow furrowed, immediately channeled chakra to her hands and placed them over the man’s chest. The iijutsu took effect quickly as she coaxed the fluid in his lungs out. Ishidai coughed and sputtered, and although his eyes remained closed and his wounds were grievous, the sign of life was met by relieved sighs from both Kanna and Kaizen.

The Enkouten leveled his fierce gaze upon Tatsuo. Truthfully he hadn’t expected the aged kage to win. Tatsuo was much younger and much more powerful. Kaizen and Ishidai had discussed in length for many years who would succeed him, and he had never seen the old man so enthusiastic about the younger generation. With a resigned sigh he faced Tatsuo and gave him a slight, stiff nod.

“We have a clear winner. Congratulations Akari Tatsuo.” Congratulations were certainly in order but his tone was somber, reserved. Change came slowly and reluctantly in Iwagakure, even when it was needed and desired.

“Kaizen.” Kanna’s tone was urgent. It was perhaps fearful. The Enkouten grunted an acknowledgement, not taking his eyes off Tastuo. ]“You will be contacted in two or three days time. Enjoy your victory, but I suggest you do not revel in it.” With a bright flash of chakra the trio vanished, and Tastuo was left alone to digest the day’s events.

As promised Tatsuo was contacted two days after the exam. He was escorted to meet the council, taking a guarded route to avoid the rowdy crowds. Excitement and curiosity had spread from villager to villager like a virus. The tension had been building in the week since the exam date was announced, and when the winner of the fight was revealed it had begun to spill over. The atmosphere in the village could only be described as on the edge of chaos.

Tatsuo was led through the Grand Hall, the building in which the council’s primary chambers were. The four members of the council waited for him patiently, having not long arrived themselves. Ishidai was absent, still recuperating from his wounds. Once the Akari bannin was seated there was a long moment of silence until a soft voice cut through the stillness of the room.

”I never thought I’d see the day that an Akari would sit before us.” It was Kanna, of course, who would begin the meeting. She was, after all, the most vocal member of the council. “In the past these sort of meetings have been straightforward. We interview you, the Tsuchikage candidate, after your victory. Decide if you have the leadership skills necessary for this position, and once we do-“

Yes, yes Kanna. We know how meetings go. But there is a problem. He is practically still a child.” Never a shy man, Kaizen quickly made his concern known.

The next man to speak was the eldest on the council. A grey man in his seventies, Iwasa Yuzuru leaned forward. ”Short tempered as ever, Kaizen. We will get there but first, let us actually speak to the boy.” The Enkouten looked as if he wanted to argue but Kanna cleared her throat.

”How have you been since you’re victory, Akari Tatsuo? Is there anything you would like to say to the council as a whole before we begin to bombard you with questions meant to tear down your confidence and call into question your motives?”

Tatsuo's life since the end of the fight had been a whirlwind. The only quiet moments he had had over the last few days had been when he was heading back to Iwagakure no Sato proper from the Lake. The moment he had stepped through the gates, no worse for wear than he had left, was enough to set off the crowd which had slowly gathered. The Akari quickly bolted from the village entry to the Jousai Headquarters where he gave the order to let no one besides Jousai personnel into the building before barricading himself in his office to decompress and understand the weight of his actions.

Two days later Tatsuo was contacted and given some time to get ready before being escorted. He had had his ceremonial Bannin robes cleaned and pressed the day before in anticipation of this moment, the garments hanging up expectantly in his room. Slipping them on, Tatsuo soon followed the escort from his domicile to the Grand Hall. The trip to the council chambers took him through one of the more guarded routes usually prepared for VIPs as they moved through the village proper. Crowds of rowdy people could be heard clearly and the grounds of the village seemed to shake with their fervor. Tatsuo could feel his heart beating in his chest and in his ears as they entered the Grand Hall and he was escorted to their chambers.

Tatsuo was quiet as the group bickered back and forth among themselves. His eyes flicked back and forth between the speakers, eagerly drinking in what they said to both him and each other before turning to him once more and giving him the floor to speak.

"Quiet and pensive would be two words to describe my last couple of days following the battle at the Lake. I'll address Kaizen first since he's made his point so decisively clear: I know I am still young and I do not wish to ascend to the position for several years or unless Ishidai is unable to perform his duties, until I've learned more than what I know about leading a team or organization. I'm more than willing to shadow him for a time and take the position when deemed appropriately. Whenever you're ready, let us being."

“Quiet and pensive,” Kaizen echoed, his tone biting and harsh. “I would hope so, considering how much will change in the coming days and months. But I wonder, if you’re already aware that your youth hinders you and that you aren’t willing to ascend to the role of Tsuchikage straight a way, what was the rush? You could have declined.” The Enkouten paused as if to give Tatsuo time to respond, but it was mostly for show. He wouldn’t truly give the Akari any time to reply and would cut him off -and anyone else who spoke up- if need be. “Normally we start with perusing through your history, but I think we should start with the present. What was your intention when you accepted the challenge of the Trials? What do you hope to accomplish by shadowing Ishidai, by waiting years before taking the title?”

A few seats down, Nakatomi Kurosawa shifted in his seat and leaned over to whisper in Yuzuru’s ear. ”The man wastes no time, but we need to maintain some kind of order, do we not?” Yuzuru shrugged, keeping his eyes on Tatsuo. They were certainly veering off the planned course thanks to Kaizen’s passionate line of questioning, but the whipper-snapper had a point and he too wanted to hear Tatsuo’s answer. “After all,” Kaizen continued, “who’s to say that there won’t be someone else, someone older and more equipped and ready for the job, who will request to undergo the Trials while you’re still learning. What do you feel has happened that required you to undergo the Trials now, rather than later?”

”Other than Tsuchikage-sama’s obvious eagerness to retire,” Yuzuru added helpfully.

The urge to roll his eyes until they fell out of his head and dropped to the cold stone floor below was incredibly tempting but he knew it would do him no good when it came to displaying maturity. Electing instead to swallow his pride, Tatsuo took a deep breath as Kaizen finished his tirade. He had been expecting this: comments about his age, how doing such a thing now would only serve to hurt, et cetera.

"I'm not quite sure what all he shared with the council regarding out recent meeting with the Daimyo, considering just how top secret the information was. However, we'll soon be gearing up for a war or at least a prolonged conflict. Ishidai has the experience and know how to lead the village to an easy and secure victory against other nations; I do not yet possess that education and taking up the mantle before a conflict without it will only serve to hinder the village as a whole. If there was no war on the horizon, I would gladly take the position now and learn during my down time but we don't have the luxury.

"If some other challenger appears, I'll beat him down too unless he beats me. Strength respects Strength. Anything else or would you be willing to let the other council members speak?"
Tatsuo stared down the Enkouten, his voice sturdy and firm as he spoke. Adults had been challenging him and trying to intimidate him since he was a genin. There was very little Tatsuo was scared of and the old Enkouten was definitely not one of such things.

Kaizen was downright indignant. Tatsuo was a child in his eyes, and this...boy - this, this greenhorn -had the nerve to speak to a member of the council and the esteemed Enkouten clan with such disrespect. The other council members turned to him in unison as his face flushed a deep crimson. "You're getting ahead of yourself. You can't accept a position that has not yet been offered. And the council members speak when they wish to speak, which is something you may or may not learn depending on how this goes."

"Ohhh?" Yuzuru's high-pitched hum mixed with the gravelly tone of old age resounded in the room. "News to me. You've been puffing your chest and barking orders since the moment Ishidai entered the hospital thanks to young Tatsuo's inspiring performance at the lake."

"Someone needs to take charge-"

"The man isn't dead yet, nor is he out of a position-"

"Enough, enough!" To Kaizen's left a woman stood, slamming her hands down on the raised desk in front of her. The two men continued their back and forth in lower tones for a bit longer, and Sakata Kanna spoke over them. "As you can see, there is some dysfunction among us old bastards which is why I'm not against young blood rising in the ranks and leading this village. We need young minds and bodies to keep other young minds and bodies in line. To lead. And you've done a fine job with Jousai. However, your success, your age, and you general demeanor that borders arrogance makes it appear that you feel yourself invincible."

"You are not, in fact, invincible. Quite the opposite. And I'm sure you know this considering you endured the death of your brother. You had a bit of a breakdown, did you not?" She paused take her seat and to gauge his response if he had one before continuing, "Some of the people you lead will die. The people you love, they will die. Your family, your teammates, your beautiful fiance - everyone who fights by your side is at risk, especially since they are close to you. You may even be responsible for sending someone you care about to their deaths. So I'll give you a scenario, Tatsuo. Your sister - the youngest, Makaso - is chosen to join others for a mission that will very likely end in their deaths. The mission is not urgent, but is in the village's best interest. How would you handle a situation like this?"

Tatsuo continued to level his stone cold glare at the Enkouten, even after he flushed as red as his own hair and began to start another tirade, not once backing down or looking away from the older man. His gaze slowly shifted to the second voice as it joined the chorus before shifting once more as a third voice joined and took control of the meeting. The information he just gained was...valuable in its own way. Kaizen was emotional and prone to outbursts and rubbed his other councilmen the wrong way. Tucking the information away for later, Tatsuo focused on the council woman before him.

"Confidence is arrogance when you can no longer back it up. All of you are welcome to test your luck, but you all would find out quite quickly I barely tried against Ishidai." Tatsuo began, his royal purple eyes seeming to glow as they bored into the woman's own. "I fail how to see how my brother's death ties into my own physical mortality. All of you know if I wanted to implode the Akari clan from the inside, I could have jumped into the Arena and saved him. Killed whoever stepped into the ring to oppose me, except I didn't. If you did more research, you'd know the breakdown was caused by even more events and not just that ONE.

And if you did that research, you'd know I already came to those realizations years ago. I already moved past them, years ago."
Tatsuo finished, his Killer Intent leaking from his body and into the air of the room. He locked eyes with each one of them as the cold hands of death emanated from his sheer presence alone. "The mission is not urgent but in the best interest... yet you do not care to look at squad and team configurations to find a more promising chance of success? I get that this is an interview but now I'm worried that you've been sending squads to their death instead of creating a better composition. If her squad is the absolute best chance of success? Then I send her and hope she comes home alive. Simple as."

Tatsuo will impose his will upon any living being within 25 meters, friend and foe alike, for 5 posts. Those caught within this range will feel endangered and threatened by him as long as he remains in their line of sight. The longer they remain within this field the worse this sensation becomes, eventually causing uncontrollable shaking of the arms and legs. If the target has an equal or greater Willpower, they can shake this feeling off, but the lower the number is in comparison, the faster the effects are felt.

[Exam] Second Coming

The council stared at Tatsuo in incredulous awe as he casually challenged each of them. Kuroda and Yuzuru quickly picked up their jaws from the floor, but Kaizen looked as though he was dangerously close to blowing a gasket. With each passing second he liked Tatsuo less and less. Kanna, meanwhile, merely furrowed her brows and had begun to comment on why the council found Tatsuo's brother relevant. As far as the council was concerned, any display of weakness - no matter how much Tatsuo felt that he had moved past it - mattered in the grand scheme of things. But the young Akari kept going, and she decided to let him finish.

There was a brief moment in which Tatsuo paused, and Kanna had intended to speak up. But suddenly her throat clenched and her palms began to sweat. Her fingers fidgeted and her heart palpitated, and she barely heard what the man said next. Next to her Kaizen was experiencing the same, and despite himself he found himself looking away from the Akari. The other two councilmen suffered far worse. Mere seconds after Tatsuo's intense aura permeated the members, Yuzuru turned his head and vomited behind the council desk. The samurai Kuroda shook uncontrollably and stood to his feet, immediately falling over as he tried to make a mad dash toward the exit. "Wh- Kuroda-san!"

The council was briefly thrown into chaos. The group barely heard Tatsuo's comments about the composition of squads, instead completely focused on the sudden, potent feelings of panic that reverberated within them. Kanna grabbed the fleeing man before he could leave the council bench and she held him at arm's length as he too began to violently heave. Both the Enkouten and Kanna were relatively clear-headed enough to attribute the sudden discord to Tatsuo and they turned to him simultaneously, scowling with as much displeasure and rage as they could muster.

"How dare y-" "Stop that, th-this instant!" Their voices overlapped, unsteady and trembling, and neither was able to look in his direction.

"You know, Ishidai shadowed his predecessor for four years before taking the title as his own. I hope to accomplish what he did in a similar manner. Questioning it questions the Tsuchikages own intentions and growth. I assumed such a staunch supporter of his to at least be able to draw comparisons." Tatsuo spoke loudly to Kaizen as pandemonium swept over the chamber from his Killing Intent. He let it fill them from head to toe before speaking again, letting them stew in it for a minute before once more answering their question but this time with more volume.

Simple as."

Tatsuo lowered his Killing Intent but did not stop it as he continued. [20 WP]

"Are you done asking question you are not prepared to walk the walk for? Or do you have more?" Tatsuo asked each of them, daring them to do something as he stared them down.

This time Tatsuo was heard loud and clear. The civilian councilmen still took some time to gather their wits, but the other two were able to clear their heads much more quickly. "Don't you dare insult me, boy. I'm fully aware how Lord Tsuchikage came into power, I WAS THERE!" Despite the power behind his words, Kaizen was still unable to meet Tatsuo's eye. Instead he looked to Yuzuru who appeared shell-shocked, his silk robes now stained with the contents of his stomach. Kanna guided the still struggling elderly councilman back to his seat, and when she returned to the head of the council her face was marred by an uncharacteristic expression of fury. "Raising your hand against the council does not help your case at all, Lord Akari," she spat as her chest continued to heave.

This meeting had not gone at all as planned. The woman didn't expect Tatsuo to be so unmoving to the point that he would take such a harsh and frankly frightening stand against the council. The panel was so used to the same tune of internal dissent that Tatsuo's malice and fortitude was unprecedented. "Of course we had more for you, especially given that unsatisfactory retort, but it's clear that you would rather puff your chest and intimidate than follow protocol in what should have been an easy interview!" Next to her Kaizen huffed and mumbled, "Like I said, he isn't ready!" but his words were clear enough for all to hear.

After a long pause, Kanna responded with "For once I am inclined to agree."

The two shinobi turned to the others. Kuroda had his head on the desk, staring at the wall behind Tatsuo. Yuzuru had a handkerchief pressed against his lips while his head rested in his hand, propped up with his elbow. His eyes were tightly shut, and only when Kanna cleared her throat obnoxiously loudly did he partially open them. "What-what is it?" When the shinobi made it clear they were awaiting his vote, the old man shrugged. "He's a dangerous upstart who doesn't seem to think too highly of us. But Ishidai is ready to pass the reigns to the next generation and has already chosen the young Lord Akari. He won't become Tsuchikage immediately, but will have time to grow into the role. That is Ishidai's wish. I will not go against that." Incredulous eyes then turned to Kuroda. Nearly a minute passed before he turned his head to his compatriots, and with a sigh he gave Yuzuru's shoulder a heavy pat.

The final vote was 3-2, in Tatsuo's favor.

"UNBELIEVABLE!" The man's chair crashed against the back wall as he stood up violently, staring down at Tatsuo with sheer fury burning behind his gaze. Kanna looked disappointed but was much more composed. "For better or for worse, it's done then. You are the Tsuchikage apparent, by majority vote. But I will say, Tatsuo, you have done yourself a disservice in these chambers." Without listening to another word both she and Kaizen exited the room, no longer interested in the proceedings.

Tatsuo's head cocked to the left in confusion at the woman's words.

"Was it not Kaizen who started this talk off rude and antagonistic? Was it not you who failed to reign your fellow council member in? If one of you cannot control your emotions and the other lacks the discipline to reign in others, I will respond in kind to your aggression and inaction. I raised no hand here, councilwoman. I merely looked at you and you nearly collapsed. I answered your question, twice no less. Instead of being able to hand the consequences of your actions, you claim I am 'puffing' my chest and refuse to ask anymore. Are you sure you're from Iwa and not Konoha with how easily you two broke?" Tatsuo responded with a short bark of a laugh at the two councilmen before falling silent and allowing the others to convene.

Once the vote came out, the man sighed deep in victory and let a smile freely decorate his lips. Tatsuo moved quickly to the elder councilman's side and his palm was glowing green with Iijutsu chakra to relieve the physical toll.

"I am sorry, councilmen. I have no qualms with you nor her, to be frank, only with that fool Kaizen. You were merely caught in the crossfire and for that I am sorry." The bannin apologized, bowing deep at the waist after administering whatever aid to them. The Akari clan member would wait until they were ready to follow.

The two outvoted council members had nothing further to say to Tatsuo. After they departed and the Akari attended the remaining councilmen, they both gazed at him with a mixture of gratitude and apprehension. After all, the young bannin was the one who caused them to need medical attention in the first place. "Well, now. Good to know you're not completely devoid of decorum. Apology appreciated and accepted, my boy. But that Kaizen is not someone to make an enemy of so soon. And I can say the same for Lady Kanna as well, especially after that Konoha comment. I haven't seen such a look of displeasure from that woman in years. But don't worry. No great Tsuchikage became that way without a little opposition. I'm sure with that attitude of yours you can expect more where that came from, both from within the village and without."

Kuroda mumbled something about relaying the day's events to the daimyo and went on ahead, but not before giving Tatsuo a nod and a pat to the forearm. Yuzuru stood soon after, giving his soiled robes a disgusted glance. The two left the council chambers, and once they were at the building's entrance the old man turned to Tatsuo and gave a slightly weary smile. "The council will convene again in a week or two, whenever Ishidai recovers and he and the daimyo decide how to move forward. We expect you there, as part of the grooming process. See you there. Congratulations, future Lord Tsuchikage."
