Physical Features: Kotaru is a small boy, though he has recently begun to build muscle and is lean with a considerable amount of muscle definition in his arms, torso, and legs. He is slightly tan with a narrow nose and slightly chubby cheeks. Kotaru's natural reach is 64". His facial features are soft, childlike, and somewhat feminine . He has recently allowed his dark teal hair styled to grow longer to reach the nape of his neck and it generally appears clean but unkept. The boy's eyes are large, bright, and sea foam green in color. Kotaru has started to develop three small, green circular marks beneath both eyes. In addition, his tongue is unusually dark now, being nearly black.

Clothing/Accessories: Kotaru typically wears dark clothing, favoring shirts with three-quarter length sleeves and a Akari clan symbol, black and outlined in red, on the backs. Occasionally he wears an ash grey hooded jacket with a black collar and cuffs. His pants are normally black or dark grey and stop at the middle of his calves, and sit low on his hips so that his melashiin can manifest more easily. All of his shirts and jackets are tailored to have openings so his eroshiin can manifest without causing much damage to his clothes. He wears dark grey closed-toe ankle boots that have a small, dark red Akari clan symbol on each heel.

Personality:

Kotaru comes across as a quiet boy who has difficultly opening up to people, and he has a tendency to keep to himself and avoid garnering attention - be it positive or negative - in most social situations. Due to his rapid growth as a shinobi, he has developed a sort of confidence that borderes arrogance, and when it comes to interacting with others near his age he appears to have a bit of a superiority complex. He has what is typically described as a naturally hostile countenance, and his first impression to others is almost never kind or friendly.

He grew up with very few friends and has a poor grasp of social competence, but he understands social status and hierarchy. He values his own personal space and gets extremely uncomfortable if others get too physically close to him, even if the person is someone he considers a friend or comrade. There are very few people he truly trusts, and he feels that most people who attempt to befriend him have hidden agendas. Due to his upbringing he believes people view him as disposable and will use him as a means to an end, so in turn he treats others as such, with very few exceptions. Kotaru is a survivor and will do almost anything in the name of self-preservation.

Once he opens up to people, he has a morbid sense of humor. Kotaru can be quite cruel and insensitive, and he has a general lack of empathy. He is somewhat obsessed with death and images of death and relishes in watching others bleed and suffer. However, he fears his own death, especically being killed by someone other than a clan member. Kotaru feels that such a fate would confirm his family's belief that he is inherently weak and worthless. He wants to survive long enough to see himself become a strong and formidable member of his clan and village.

Combat Mentality: Kotaru typically avoids what he deems are unnecessary fights. He prefers to initially keep a fair distance between himself and his opponent. Once he has determined he must fight, he tends to fight his opponent's mind more than body and enjoys watching others suffer mentally. When his opponent is weakened, the boy becomes completely focused on ending his opponent's life as violently as possible.
History

Kotaru’s birth was welcomed with pomp and fanfare within the lower caste of the Akari clan. Born to a father and mother who both possessed temershiin, his parents nervously anticipated the manfestation of the child’s shiin. Kotaru’s shiin finally manifested at age 4: melashiin, the most stigmatized of shiin. His parents were unable to hide their disappointment; from that day on, they distanced themselves from their son and barely acknowledged his presence, instead giving their full attention to his older brother who had manifested temershiin.

As he grew, it was clear that Kotaru was much smaller than many other boys his age, and his peers - both clan and non-clan members - would tease him for his size, and the frail-looking boy took to staying out of sight and away from others as much as possible. Without ever directly speaking to him, his family became increasingly cold towards him and constantly, passively mentioned the importance of their children consuming their clan members’ shiin in order to bring honor and status to their low-class family. Without realizing it, the boy took the doctrine to heart.

Kotaru entered the academy at age eight and was a mostly average student. When he was ten years old his brother became a genin and their parents urged him to fight an unnecessary battle in the Akari arena against a clan member with melashiin to the death. However, his brother quickly fell before his family’s eyes and was devoured. His parents could barely contain their grief, but Kotaru looked on with impassive detachment. In the boy’s mind, a weakness had been eliminated, and it proved to him that skill, not the shiin itself, determined a shinobi’s worth. Kotaru learned two personal truths that day: unnecessary battles should be avoided, and unavoidable battles should be ended as quickly as possible, as violently as possible.

After graduating from the academy, Kotaru avoided being assigned to a genin team. He struggled to gain acceptance and intended to do so the only way he knew how: by devouring as many of his clan members as possible. In order to do that he trained almost obsessively, often forgoing returning to his parents' house and instead choosing to sleep at the training grounds. Lacking friends, he had several training partners assigned to him by the village. But he quickly gained a reputation for his cruel use of genjutsu against them.

A few months after being promoted to genin, against all odds, Kotaru managed to make friends in two older chuunin: an Enkouten and a fellow Akari. The three formed a shinobi team, and the trio went on mission after mission, all of which were considered too dangerous for a genin. But time and time again Kotaru came back alive and much stronger. By the time he took a break from training and missions to make time to take the chuunin exams, he was much stronger than an average chuunin. Thus, he breezed through the combat portion of his exam, and after the interview he was promoted. It quickly became evident that he was far beyond the level of an average chuunin. After leading a few successful missions, including some solo ones, his superiors assessed he was ready for the next level. After only a month as chuunin, Kotaru was promoted to special jounin.

Kotaru found that he had to learn how to deal with the notoriety that came from becoming a chuunin and then a special jounin at such a young age. The day after being promoted to special jounin, he found himself in the one place he never wanted to be: the Akari arena. He managed to emerge victorious and, to the chagrin of nearly the entire clan, gained several new shiin in the process. Within days after the arena battle, word of his victory had spread so much through the compound that Akari began to discuss his strength within the village proper. Kotaru's superior demanded a reevaluation of his skills and sent him on a dangerous mission in southern Rock Country. After coming back successfully, Kotaru was promoted to jounin two weeks before he turned fourteen.

Combat Style: Kotaru approaches fights cautiously and initially keeps a fair distance between himself and his opponent. He always first tries to determine if the fight is absolutely necessary and avoids it if possible, but if he is in serious danger his demeanor changes dramatically and he becomes quite ruthless, fighting to kill. He prefers to weaken his opponent with genjutsu and use his shiiin and katon techniques to fight at mid-range.

First Ability
AkariShow
The main bloodline of the Akari clan is their shiin. While the size, shape, and abilities of the shiin depends on which chakra the organ is connected to. The shiin, while manifesting itself, is a constant within them. Unlike other similar clans, the shiin is the only thing that alters itself, leaving the Akari's body largely in tact. However, because of this, the shiin is just another part of the body, just as someone's arm or leg.
MelashiiinShow
The first and most common of the shiins is the Melashiin. Connected to the Root Chakra, a melashiin manifests itself as a fleshy protrusion from the skin. They are almost always long and thin, being relatively weak in comparison to all of the other shiin. However, what gives them their usefulness is they have massively high regeneration rates. When damaged, they are able to recur themselves at an astonishing rate, based on the clan member's [Stamina], following the rules for regneration without other jutsu being used. Because of such, having a melashiin imparts a -3 [Stamina] on the user. Most melashiin are dark red in hue, though there are exceptions. For the most part, those with a melashiin are the lowest caste of the clan, due to having the 'weakest' of the shiin, along with the lowered stamina that it drains from them.
TemershiinShow
The second and second most common of the shiins is the Temershiin. Connected to the Sacral Chakra, a temershiin manifests as a tail of some sort on the user. While the type depends on the user, it is almost always coarse and rough to the touch. Most temershiin are orange in hue, though there are exceptions. Those with temershiin tend to be a good chunk of the ninja population, they are mostly lower ranking ninja.
EroshiinShow
The fourth and relatively uncommon shiin is the eroshiin. Connected to the Heart Chakra, a eroshiin manifests itself as almost fire-like jelly from solid flesh, encompassing the shoulders and branching out into wing-like forms. While incapable of flight by their own, they are aerodynamic, allowing for swift movement even with their added bulk. With an addition of the user's own [Speed], the eroshiin can allow for gliding around a battlefield, jumping from place to place. Most eroshiin are green in hue, though there are exceptions. Members of the clan with eroshiin tend to be spies, scouts, and diplomats, proud of their own speed and ability to get out of any situation.
LacrishiinShow
The fifth and slightly rare shiin is the Lacrishiin. Connected to the throat chakra, a lacrishiin manifests itself as an armor around the user's body. The amount of armor depends on the user's own body. This armor smooth and dull, appearing as as a dim and opaque glass. While the armor has the same durability as others, it is also able to be strengthened in more ways, unlike the others. However, the armor created is almost never offensive in nature, requiring the user to use their own brute force to damage enemies. Most lacrishiin are blue in hue, though there are exceptions. Members of the clan with lacrishiin tend to be bodyguards of those of importance and high ranking members of the clan.
DerghoshiinShow
The sixth and second rarest shiin is the Derghoshiin. Connected to the Third Eye Chakra, a derghoshiin manifests itself as a growth around where the user's third eye would be. The smallest and physically weakest of the shiin, the derghoshiin gives one very simple ability. It is that it is able to shoot out bits of itself at targets. While few other shiin are able to manifest projectile attacks, the derghoshiin are the only ones that are able to manifest chakra-based projectile attacks and fuse differing chakra-based abilities into their projectiles. Most derghoshiin are purple in hue, thought here are exceptions. Members of the Akari clan with derghoshiin tend to be high ranked ninja or diplomats, highly valuing their own [Instinct] that the build up of chakra in their head supposedly gives them. Most clan members tend to respect the words of those with a derghoshiin.
Kotaru's ShiinShow
Kotaru's melashiin manifests at the base of the spine, and emerges as eight long, thin tendrils that triple his arm's natural reachThe tendrils are wide at the base, approximately 15 inches wide, and taper significantly at the points, making the points approximately 5 inches wide. The tendrils are dark red and almost appear black, like so.

His temershiin emerges from the same opening as his melashiin. The surface of the shiin is rough with sharp, broad scales that protrude slightly upward at an angle. The end of the temershiin diverges into two points: one long and flat with a needle-like end, the other thick and curved inward into a sharp, needle-like point similar to a scorpion's tail. Both points are calcified and are as sharp as kunai. The temershiin is a rusty orange, like so.

His eroshiin emerges from his shoulder blades in the form of two, jelly-like wings. Each wing grants Kotaru more aerodynamic movements in battle. The eroshiin is light and smooth to the touch and has uneven edges. The shiin is a dark, blue-ish green, like so.

Kotaru's lacrishiin covers his body from the neck down, covering even his hands and feet. The majority of armor appears to be covered in tiny, rigid scales that are smooth to the touch. The mantle of the armor has much larger, keeled scales and are much rougher to the touch. The shoulders and upper arms are covered by spaulders made of seven plates; the four uppermost plates end in long, curved 7 inch spikes. Each spike is as sharp as a standard kunai. The lacrishiin is mostly blue, like so, though there are dark purple speckles throughout the armor.

His derghoshiin is simple in shape. It takes the form of a beak-like protrusion at the center of his forehead and curves down to the tip of his nose. It also forms a band across his forehead, covering it. The shiin does not obscure his vision. His derghoshiin is dark purple, like so.

Katon Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Katon affinity. Katon has a passive ignition effect.
Passive (Ingition)Show
Katon's effect is ignition, which means that all katon jutsu, regardless of effect, start and spread fire from their source. Once a jutsu has been performed, the fire from the jutsu spreads at 1/3rd the speed of the technique, rounded down. That means a C-rank katon jutsu that moves at 13 speed would create subsequent fires that spread at 4 speed. These secondary fires require flammable material to continuously spread, otherwise they will burn out on their own.

Additionally, the strength of burns on organic material from katon jutsu is determined by the strength of the jutsu.

Iijutsu is known for it's advanced nature and requires precise chakra control to work effectively. It can be differentiate from normal techniques by the faint light green colour of the chakra used in Iijutsu techniques.

Advanced Channeling: GenjutsuShow
This user has superb chakra control, and has learned to perform jutsu by channeling, without the use of hand seals. The user can channel any genjutsu that is designed to be channel, and there are no specified parameters in which a jutsu must fall to be channeled by this method. To get this concentration the user must be a Genjutsu Specialist, and have picked Control as one of their specialized stats. Channeled Genjutsu cause the user to be surrounded in an aura of chakra while channeling the genjutsu, until the genjutsu is initiated.
Warp GenjutsuShow
This user has learned to combine the basics of Status and Illusion genjutsu, allowing them to use single techniques to create sensory illusions, as well as status changes on their target.
Overlay GenjutsuShow
This user has learn to create entire worlds in the heads of their targets. These genjutsu allow the user to completely recreate reality within the heads of their target, and interact with them in various ways through the techniques. Overlay stand out as a threat in genjutsu users as they lapse on a single second in real time, but can last extremely long in the heads of the target.
Specialization
Genjutsu Specialist

Having devoted his life to mastering the art of genjutsu, Kotaru is classified as a Genjutsu Specialist. Genjutsu specialists are able to devote a total of 10 concentrations to genjutsu, unlike most people who are capped at 8. However, they are only able to devote a max of 5 concentrations to taijutsu, and a max of 5 concentrations to ninjutsu.

As a Genjutsu Specialist, Kotaru is able to utilize genjutsu concentrations reserved for specialists, and is able to enter the God Tier [45+] on select stats, meaning as a specialist he can select stats to break into the God tier. Kotaru's specialist stats are: Genjutsu, Speed, Control, and Stamina.

E-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing two quick handseals, Kotaru flicks his thumb and any one of his other fingers. This results in a very small flame igniting on the tip of his finger. The flame is enough to light a small fire, such as lighting firewood. The justu lasts for up to two posts.

Wisp
E-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru creates up to five, wispy teardrop shaped balls of flames five inches in diameters. The flames produce no heat and are incapable of inflicting burns. The balls float within three feet of his position and up to a foot above his height and cannot move outside of this area. The fireballs move with him but are otherwise immobile and once created Kotaru cannot control their movement or position. Due to the low chakra cost of this technique, Kotaru can maintain this for x number of posts where x equals stamina/2.

After performing the correct hand seals the user draws in a deep breath before exhaling out a 1/2 meter diameter fireball at the opponent. It travels up to 10 meters away at a speed of 6 and a strength of 4.

After performing the correct hand seals, the user will create a copy of themselves out of katon chakra. By channeling katon chakra into a metal weapon or blade, the user will cause it to grow hotter and cover the blade in flames. The imbued weapon will be able to carve through defenses of 5 or less strength with ease.

By channeling katon chakra into his body, Kotaru will release a burst of flame around his entire body, coming outwards from him. This sphere of roiling fire pushes outward with 5 speed and impacts whatever it touches with 5 strength, the sphere extending roughly 1 meter in radius from his body.

Prerequisite: Basic Formation: Melashiin
By channeling chakra into his shiin, Kotaru coats his melashiin in katon chakra, which covers the entirety of the tendrils in flames that add a one foot diameter of katon chakra to each tendril, and extends one foot from the tip of the tendrils.

After performing the needed seals, Kotaru extends his pointer finger and a small ball of katon chakra roughly 3 inches in diameter will form at the end of it. The chakra can be launched at a speed of 9 and hits with a strength of 1, and can travel up to 15 meters. The chakra will burst on contact and erupt into a ball of flames 1 meter in diameter.

Pre-requisite: Barrier jutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru will gather katon chakra in his hands and then touch his barrier. This transfers the katon chakra to the barrier, and the katon spreads throughout it at a speed of 5 until the barrier is covered in flames. As long as the barrier is up, anyone who touches the barrier will have the katon burning passive applied to them.

After performing the needed seals, Kotaru extends his pointer finger and a small ball of katon chakra roughly 6 inches in diameter will form at the end of it. The chakra can be launched at a speed of 18 and hits with a strength of 2, and can travel up to 20 meters. The chakra will burst on contact and erupt into a ball of flames 3 meters in diameter.

Twin Spirals
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Pre-requisite: 12 Control
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru clenches his hands into claws and holds them in front of his body. A swirling jet of flames will erupt from each hand, traveling at a speed of 12 and hitting with a strength of 8. The flames move in a spiral pattern with a diameter of up to 10 meters, though this can be adjusted plus or minus one meter per 2 points of control up to a maximum of 15 meters. This justu lasts up to two posts.

Spike
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, a three foot long spike shaped mass of katon forms in Kotaru's hand. Within the next 2 posts, he is able to throw the spike toward a target. Once the the spike hits the target it explodes with the strength of a C-ranked explosion.

Flaming Arc
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the needed seals, Kotaru coats his melashiin in katon chakra. Within the next 3 posts, if he swings the melashiin the motion launches the katon in an arc shape that is the same length of his melashiin toward the target at speed equal to his strength. The flames hit with 10 strength. The flames can be launched up to 12 meters before they lose their shape and disperse.

Firewall
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Pre-requisite: 15 Ninjutsu, 20 Control
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru creates a wall of flames within 15 meters of his position. Due to his superb chakra control, he can create a wall between 5 and 10 meters in length and height. The wall forms at a speed of 20 with a strength of 10. The wall of flames is a meter thick and it lasts 4 posts before fading.

After the needed hand seals, the user will release katon outward from their body rapidly as the fire twists around them. This fire forms a 3-inch layer of flames around their body that manifests at 25 speed, and essentially provide a pseudo-defense against taijutsu for the next three posts. If anyone comes into contact with the armor, they will receive second degree burns and incoming attacks will be repelled with 15 strength.

Hell’s Geysers
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru floods the ground beneath his feet with katon chakra and it will spread around him in a 20 meter radius. If anyone but the user enters the area, up to 10 columns of flames with a 3 meter diameter and a height of 5 meters will shoot from the ground from beneath the target at 25 speed and hitting with a strength of 15. Kotaru is unable to control when the flaming columns erupt once the jutsu is in place. The jutsu lasts 5 posts.

Devil’s Geysers
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru extends two fingers and a ball of katon chakra roughly 9 inches in diameters will form at the end of them. The chakra can then be launched at a speed of 25 and hits with a strength of 15, and can travel up to 25 meters. On contact, the katon will erupt around the target into a pillar 5 meters tall with a 5 meter diameter. The pillar will burn for two posts before fading.

Rolling Wave
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru releases a rolling blast of flames that erupts from his body and expands around him from all sides. The flames are 9 meters high and expand at a speed of 10, hitting with a strength of 30. The flames can spread to a maximum of a 25 meter diameter with Kotaru at the center.

Barrage
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, within 4 posts Kotaru can create up to 7 balls of katon from his palms. Each ball is 8 inches in diameter and can be thrown at a speed of equal to his strength and hit with the same strength. The projectiles themselves have a strength of 10 and apply the passive accordingly. On impact, the katon erupts in a ball of flames 3 meters in diameter.

After the needed hand seals, the user will release katon outward from their body rapidly as the fire twists around them. After performing the needed seals, within 5 posts Kotaru can create up to 10 balls of katon from his palms. Each ball is 12 inches in diameter. Kotaru is able to throw the katon at a speed equal to his strength, and it hits with the same strength. The projectiles themselves have a strength of 20 and apply the passive accordingly. On impact the balls erupt in a ball of flames 4 meters in diameter.

After performing the correct hand seals the user will form a condensed 5cm diameter, 3 meter long spear of fire in their hand then throw it at an opponent. At any time during the course of the spear's travel, the user may use Chakra Kai to activate the spear. This causes the spear to rapidly unwind and expand into a 10 meter long, 7 meter diameter whirlwind of fire at a speed of 25. On impact, the spear will then explode at A-Rank strength.

After forming the needed seals, Kotaru coats his melashiin or temershiin in katon chakra. Within the next 3 posts, if he swings the shiin the motion propels the katon in an arc shape that is the same length of his shiin toward the target at speed equal to his strength and hits with the same strength. The flames are 25 strength and apply the passive accordingly. The flames can be propelled up to 40 meters before they lose their shape and disperse.

Dragon's Breath

Pre-requisite: 40 Control
After performing the necessary hand seals, Kotaru takes a deep breath and expels a large stream of flames from his mouth. The stream moves at 25 speed, hits with 25 strength, and can reach up to 200 meters long, and is thin for up to 5 meters immediately in front of him before expanding up to 70 meters wide. Due to Kotaru’s impeccable chakra control, he can alter the size of the stream at creation and at any time thereafter. The stream can be maintained continuously for up to 7 posts; during this time, Kotaru can halt the flames and start them back up again at will.

After performing the needed hand seals, the user places both hands in front of them, palms facing forward. A thin barrier that is 4 feet wide and 6 feet tall and 6 inches thick extends in front of the user from the palms at a speed of 5. The barrier can take a hit of up to 5 strength before shattering. Otherwise it lasts 5 posts.

Bursting Finger Pellet
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru extends his pointer finger and a small ball of chakra roughly 4 inches in diameter will form at the end of it. The chakra can be launched at a speed of 17 and hits with a strength of 3, and can travel up to 20 meters. The chakra will burst on contact, and the sound will cause painful ringing in the ears for 3 posts.

After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru will cause a barrier to erect around him. With him as the center, the barrier has a dome shape and has a diameter of 7 meters and is 7 meters tall at its highest point. It forms at speed of 10 and can withstand hits up to 10 strength. A simple yet vital medical technique, the *[Iijutsu • Bandage Technique] provides its users with the ability to create makeshift bandages out of any suitable material they desire. After channeling chakra into an object (such as a leaf, piece of cloth, etc.), the user is able to apply it to the wound of a patient. Once applied, the selected object will adhere to the flesh around the wound, protecting it from bacteria and other harmful foreign bodies. Objects used for the bandage technique are automatically sterilized in the process. These bandages drain a minuscule amount of chakra from the person it is attatched to in order to keep them stuck on, theoretically, ad-infinitum, and can be cancelled at any time by the user with a single handseal. While not as effective at stopping bleeding as the [Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching] technique, they hold on much better in the case that strenuous movement is necessary.

*[Iijutsu • Sterilization Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
As sanitation cannot always be guaranteed in field operations, this technique provides a quick substitute to traditional sterilization methods. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will channel the chakra throughout his/her upper body (torso, arms, hands, face). This chakra will chew away at harmful bacteria and other foreign bodies on the skin, cleansing it until it is thoroughly sterile, and can be spread to objects, most commonly surgical tools. Of course, this takes both concentration and time, and in order to sterilize the entire upper body, it will take a duration of one (1) post. Users of this technique can also choose to sterilize certain parts of their upper body or the wounds of another person instead for a lesser concentration period. Once they are sanitized, they remain this way until coming in contact with more bacteria.


*[Iijutsu • Blood Clot Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
This highly useful field technique is applied to bleeding wounds to help encourage the coagulation of the blood. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them over the bleeding wound and begin to channel chakra through it. The chakra will began to thicken the blood, causing it to clot. Wounds must be dealt with one at a time, and the number of wounds that can be tended to within the three (3) posts that this technique lasts depends on their size. Small wounds take very little time to clot, while moderate wounds take one (1) post of concentration to clot, and large wounds take two (2) posts to clot. Although this technique stops the bleeding, the wound remains vulnerable and will require further care after this has been performed.

*[Iijutsu • Burn Ointment Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
A relatively simple and handy technique to have at hand, *[Iijutsu • Burn Ointment Technique] is used to alleviate pain caused by burn wounds. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them above the burn wound. As the chakra is channeled into and around the burn, it cools the area and works to prevent harmful, scar-producing blistering in the affected area. To provide this soothing relief to small areas of first degree burns, it's fairly quick to do. For small areas of second degree burns, it takes one (1) post of concentration to achieve the same effects. This technique is ineffective when applied to larger areas or burns worse than second degree.

*[Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
When traditional stitching supplies aren't available, *[Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching] truly shines. After performing a short set of handseals, the user will gently place his/her index finger at the base of the patient's wound. Once this is done, the user will lift his/her finger and touch it to the other side of the wound, causing a visible 'stitch' of chakra to appear. This is repeated until the wound has been pulled together. Although precision is key, this technique can still be performed relatively quickly. Small to moderate wounds take very little time to stitch, while large wounds will take one (1) post of work to mend. This technique drains a minuscule amount of chakra from the person it is attached to in order to keep the stitches going, theoretically, ad-infinitum, and can be cancelled at any time by the user with a single handseal. Any intensive or strenuous movements will cause the stitches to break.

Perhaps one of the most important Iijutsu techniques to date, the *[Iijutsu • Medical Diagnosis Technique] allows its users to probe another's body in search for medical answers. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will begin to channel it into the patient's body. Using this chakra as an internal extension of his/her hand to feel for abnormalities and other issues, the user is often able to determine the problem after some time and concentration. In order for a thorough examination to provide sufficient answers, the user will focus for up to one (1) post, seeking signs of internal and external damage, organ malfunction and disease among other ailments. Although skilled medical-nin have the possibility to work faster, skill cannot be substituted in for thoroughness.

*[Iijutsu • Skin Generation]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
Often utilized by medical-nin to heal small, superficial wounds or for producing excess skin to use in skin grafts, the *[Iijutsu • Skin Generation] technique has its number of uses. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will channel it into a small area of skin cells on the patient's body. This chakra will force the skin cells to multiply at an ample rate by confusing this area of the body into its reconstruction stage that is achieved during slumber. As this is a type of regeneration, users must keep in mind that each cell draws from nutrients in the patient's body, and as such, too much can cause serious harm. In order to regenerate medium-sized areas of superficial wounds, it takes one (1) post of concentration. Areas smaller than this take considerably less time. In the case that the skin sample is separate from the body, the cells can be multiplied more quickly than they could be otherwise. These types of samples are generally use for skin grafts. The *[Iijutsu • Skin Generation] technique can be held for four (4) posts.

While still part of the body, each and every shiin has remarkable regeneration rates. Normally not enough to fully recover in battle, with rest, a shiin is able to recover itself in a few days, even if the manifested organ has been sliced to pieces, as long as the base organ remains in tact, taking chakra from the Akari, forcing them to rest longer than a normal ninja.

After channeling chakra into his melashiin sac, Kotaru enhances the cellular replication of the shiin. This strengthens the shiin by thickening the tendrils, giving them +6 strength. However, the process makes the shiin stiffer and less flexible, which reduces the speed at which they can move by -6. This effect lasts 4 posts.

*[Iijutsu • Burn Heal]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: *[Iijutsu • Burn Treatment]
Yet another step up in the ability to treat burns, *[Iijutsu • Burn Heal] is used to alleviate pain caused by burn wounds. After focusing chakra into his/her hands, the user will hover them above the burn wound. As the chakra is channeled into and around the burn, it cools the area and works to prevent harmful, scar-producing blistering in the affected area. To provide this soothing relief to large-sized areas of first degree and second degree burns it's fairly quick to do. For medium-sized areas of third degree burns, it takes one (1) post of concentration to achieve the same effects. Lastly, for small areas of fourth degree burns, it also takes one (1) post of concentration due to the very delicate nature of this type of burn.

*[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Perhaps one of the most dangerous and revered Iijutsu honed by medical-nin, the *[Iijutsu • Chakra Scalpel] is no precision instrument. After performing the necessary handseals, the user will begin to focus an ample amount of chakra into his/her hands. Once charged with chakra, the user will attempt to place his/her hands on the target. If the user is able to connect the entirety of his/her palm, the chakra will be released into the opponent's body, slicing tissue, organs and veins up to 4 inches from the surface in an area roughly the size of the user's hand. The skin remains unblemished by this technique, as it only causes small to moderate internal wounds. As this technique is dangerous and mostly uncontrolled, the precision needed to kill instantaneously is lost. The chakra used in this technique is highly visible when first activated and emanates from both hands for a duration of three (3) posts or until contact with the opponent is made.

~Enhanced Regeneration
B-Ranked Iijutsu
Requirements: ~Basic Regeneration, Iijutsu Concentration
Going above and beyond the normal regeneration capabilities, a shiin is able to utilize some of the user's chakra in order to restore itself to fighting capacity. While not instant, a shiin is able to recover and rebuild itself in [20-(Stamina/3)] posts. A melashiin is able to recover itself in [20-(Stamina/2)] posts instead. Either way, the fastest that a shiin can recover this way is in 2 posts. During this time, the shiin is unable to manifest.

~Perfect Regeneration

Coming close to perfecting the regeneration factors of their shiin, the Akari member is able to recover their shiin almost as soon as it is destroyed. While the pain is still there, the shiin can recover itself in [15-(Stamina/3 posts)]. A melashiin is able to recover itself in [10-(Stamina/2)] posts instead. Either way, the fastest that a shiin can recover this way is in 1 post. During this time, the shiin is unable to manifest.

Channeling chakra to their shiin, they cause it to inflate, fully forming into its full glory. The temershiin takes the shape of a wide and powerful tail. The strength of a temershiin equal to the user's strength.

Channeling chakra to their shiin, they cause it to inflate, fully forming into its full glory. Taking the form of wings, they are incapable of flight on their own, however are very aerodynamic, allowing for the user to slowly float down, based on their prerequisite taijutsu. The Eroshiin has a strength equal to 3/4ths the user's strength.

~Basic Formation: Lacrishiin
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Channeling chakra to their shiin, they cause it to inflate, fully forming into its full glory. Taking the form of an almost opaque armor with an appearance of glass, the lacrishiin almost completely covers the user's body. As a pseudoarmor, the lacrishiin has strength equal to the user's strength+3, while causing the user to move with -3 speed.

~Basic Formation: Derghoshiin
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Channeling chakra to their shiin, they cause it to inflate, fully forming into its full glory. Taking the form as a pseudo-crown on the user, the derghoshiin has a strength equal to half the user's strength.

This form of his armor has strength equal to Kotaru’s strength.

Due to training with their shiin, Akari members are much more at balance than those without a shiin. This holds especially true for those with temershiin, as the tail-like protrusion provides a counterbalance. This also allows for clan members to use their shiin as legs for balance, if able.

While not quite the same, by opening their shiin to the fullest, an Akari is able to slow their fall without fear of falling, even if thrust downward. While unable to gain height, even with gusts of wind, this protects an Akari from damage caused by falling, given they have enough space to fall.

Type: Eroshiin
With his eroshiin extended, Kotaru jumps up and then flaps his eroshiin. The movement allows him to double jump up to X meters, where X equals 1/2 of his strength.

Corkscrew

Pre-Requisite: Eroshiin
With this manuever, Kotaru jumps into the air and uses his eroshiin to rapidly spin upward at a speed equal to his strength and gain height of X meters, where X is equal to 1/2 his strength.

Hover
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Pre-Requisite: Eroshiin
Kotaru can use this techinique to remain in the air after jumping upward using another maneuver or jumping down from a high position. He must continuously flap the shiin at a steady pace to maintain his position in the air. While using Hover, due to it requiring his focus he is unable to use any other taijutsu maneuvers and is unable to gain height.

~Feather Fall
C-Ranked Discipline Taijutsu

Requirements: ~Slow Fall
A much more advanced version of ~Slow Fall, this technique allows the user to effectively glide, as long as their shiin is out. While they still can't gain height through this technique, they are able to slow their descent to ridiculous levels, and, with enough control (Taijutsu stat of 19), they are able to descend at a 80 degree angle.

B-Ranked Maneuver Taijutsu

Effectively the same as the prior technique, this allows the Akari to glide in all measure of the word. They are able to 'ride' the wind, gaining height through the use of the natural wind or [Fuuton] techniques.

Requirements: ~Glide
Stretching their shiin to their fullest, the Akari is able to fly just as well as any bird would be able to, up to a maximum of 30 meters. Other than the height restriction, the user is able to travel equal to their speed, treating it just as if they were moving on land.

This technique makes use of Kotaru’s acrobatic skills to grab onto objects such as tree branches while midair and use it to change the direction of his movement.

Kotaru is able to alternate between moving on his feet and moving by walking with his melashiin. With this, he is able to move more easily over uneven terrain and avoid small obstacles in his path.

Snap-Back

With this maneuver, Kotaru snaps his melashiin backwards when someone is behind him and within reach. The tendrils typically aim for the opponent’s upper body or midsection.

Due to extensive training with his shiin, Kotaru is able to focus on multiple targets at once while fighting with melashiin. He is able to focus on each target and use each tendril of the shiin to engage with a separate target. This is used for broad movements and must be with separate taijutsu maneuvers for specific movements.

Kotaru has mastered the art of using multiple limbs in combat and has trained himself to be aware of his targets and surroundings in relation to his body position and the reach of his shiin. The shiin are able respond reflexively to even subtle stimuli, such as slight sounds and movements. This allows him to coordinate his multiple shiin fluidly between both defensive and offensive maneuvers and allows him to strike at full speed and strength if need be.

Kotaru is able to blend in with large crowns and can easily maneuver around people without bumping into them or drawing much attention to himself. Someone who is actively looking for him, however, may be able to pick him out of the crowd.

Quiet on the Draw

Kotaru has learned how to draw his weapons without producing much noise. Those who are actively listening for him, even without a specialized hearing technique, will still be able to hear the soft noises of Kotaru drawing his weapons.

Kotaru has trained himself to control his breathing and breathe silently. Even if he is out of breath after strenuous activity, he is able to control his breathing and produce almost no noise. Those who use special listening techniques will be able to pick up on very faint sounds of his breathing.

Kotaru has mastered landing quietly after jumping or leaping from a great height and is able to do so without injuring himself. Only those using specialized hearing techniques are able to hear his nearly completely silent landing.

After performing the necessary hand seals, any victim that sees the user preforming the hand seals will be induced under the genjutsu. This causes the target to begin to smell rotting flesh and decaying bodies. The jutsu can cause nausea and vomiting from the target, depending on how sensitive their sense of smell is. The smell of the dead can also cause some mental stress on the target. This genjutsu lasts for three (3) posts.

*Genjutsu • Paranoid
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then point indiscriminately. Should the target see the pointing motion, they'll be captured in this genjutsu. For the following 4 posts, the target will see a shadow in the corner of their eyes, constantly shifting out of view when they attempt to look at it.

Burning Sensation • Hand
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
Pre-requisite: Katon technique
Kotaru will do a series of hand seals for both a katon technique and Burning Sensation • Hand. After the target sees the flames from the katon technique, the genjutsu will activate. The target will feel as though their dominant hand is burning with the intensity of holding one's hand directly above a flame. This genjutsu lasts for three (3) posts.

D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
Kotaru will do a series of hand seals then clap his hands together. When the target(s) sees this gesture, they will see Kotaru's legs and feet burst into flames. For the next three (3) posts, it will appear to the target(s) that Kotaru is on fire from the waist down, though the flames will produce no heat and cause Kotaru no pain.

Falling Ash
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
Kotaru will do a series of hand seals then claps his hands. When the target hears the clap, the target will then see falling, burning ash fall within their field of vision, no matter what direction they look. This effect lasts for three (3) posts.

Whispers on the Wind
D-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Kotaru places a finger over his lips and makes a shushing noise. When the target sees this motion, the genjutsu activates. The target will then hear several different voices whispering, barely audible and unintelligible. They can be quite distracting to the target and make them lose focus momentarily. The genjutsu lasts three posts.

After performing the necessary hand seals, Kotaru places a finger over his lips and makes a shushing noise. When the target both sees the motion and hears the shushing noise, the genjutsu activates. The target will then hear low, audible voices that are just above a whisper of friends or loved ones warning the target to keep their distance from Kotaru or run away. The genjutsu lasts seven posts.

Mouth Rot
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru makes physical contact with the target to activate the genjutsu. The target will then have a horrible taste in their mouth, similiar to spoiled milk and rotten meat. Depending on how sensitive their sense of taste is, this technique can cause nausea or even vomiting. This genjutsu lasts 4 posts.

Northern Air
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru places his hands on both arms and rubs them as if shivering. Once the targets see this motion, the genjutsu is activated. The targets will then feel extremely cold and begin shiver. Their fingers will feel numb, which will make forming seals and holding weapons difficult. The targets will also see their breath condense in the air as if breathing on a cold day. The genjutsu lasts four posts.

Sidearm
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru moves his melashiin in an undulating motion and then the tips of the tendrils will curl inward. When the targets see this motion, this illusion of force genjutsu will activate. For the duration of one post, the targets will begin to feel as though their arms are being bound at their sides. During this period, if the target realizes they are under genjutsu, they can move their hands to kai out. Targets can also physically break the illusion if their strength is 10 or greater. After this one post period, targets with less than 10 strength will be unable to lift their arms from their sides for three posts.

Doubt
C-Ranked Status Genjutsu
Kotaru will channel chakra and then whistle, initiating the genjutsu in anyone who hears the whistle. For the next three posts, the victims of this technique will feel tinges of doubt when listening to other people talk. While the doubt isn't strong, it creates a slight feeling that can be used to dissuade them from following instructions of other people if utilized properly.

Bend the Knee
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru moves his melashiin in an undulating motion and then the tips of the tendrils will curl inward. When his targets see this motion, this illusion of force genjutsu will activate. For the duration of one post, the targets will begin to feel as though a force is pushing down upon their shoulders to force them onto their knees. During this period, if the targets realize they are under genjutsu, they can move their hands to kai out. Targets can also physically break the illusion if their strength is 10 or greater. After this one post period, targets with less than 10 strength will be unable to lift their bodies from this position for four posts.

Localized Numbness
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, this technique is triggered when Kotaru makes physical contact with a target. The target will feel a localized loss of sensation at the point of contact which spreads throughout the limb. If Kotaru makes contact with the target’s head, chest, or back, then only that area will be affected. The genjutsu not only eliminates pain in that area, but also makes the target unable to feel anything touching the area for the duration of the jutsu. This genjutsu lasts 5 posts.

Immolation Sensation
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
Pre-requisite: Katon technique
Kotaru will channel his chakra and perform the seals for a katon technique. When the targets see the flames of the katon jutsu, this genjutsu will activate. The targets will then feel as though they are standing in a fire, though the target will see no visible flames. The sensation is very painful and could prevent the targets from moving or focusing on their task. The genjutsu lasts for 4 posts.

Split Earth
C-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
Kotaru will do a series of hands seals and slam one of his limbs or shiin on the ground. When the targets see this slamming motion, the genjutsu will activate. The targets will see several cracks in the earth that move forward from Kotaru's limb or shiin which will approach the target in a straight path with a speed of 5. The cracks will appear roughly four feet deep and the earth will crack loudly as they appear to tear through the ground. The cracks will travel to a maximum distance of 15 feet before stopping. The jutsu lasts for 2 posts.

The Spectre: Infection
C-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
Pre-requisite: 17 Control
After channeling his chakra, the genjutsu is activated when the target makes physical contact with him. Once genjutsu is activated, the targets will see a dark purple, solid shadow emerge from Kotaru’s body, and then it will immediately form in front of the targets. It will then envelop the targets, making them uncomfortably cold and clammy for one post, where it will follow and stick to the targets no matter what they do. It will then it appear to seep into their skin. For the next three posts, this will lead the targets to believe that the spectre has infected their body, and they will likely worry that it will harm them from the inside.

After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will draw a kunai and throw it towards the target in front of them. Once the targets see this motion, the genjutsu will activate. The targets will feel apprehensive and will unconsciously try to avoid being within a five meter radius around Kotaru, and will think it is extremely dangerous to direct physical attacks, including melee and held weapon attacks, toward him. This genjutsu lasts 6 posts.

Experience Tranquility
B-Ranked Status Genjutsu
This technique can be used on enemies or allies alike. After Kotaru channels his chakra, he will say “Relax” to activate the genjutsu. After hearing the command, over the course of one post all who hear the command will experience a sensation of being gradually relieved of stress and hostility. After this initial post, the targets will be amiable, less inclined to be hostile towards others, and more open to positive suggestion from the user. Though this does not guarantee the targets will heed to the user's suggestions, the genjutsu influences the target to view the suggestions positively and makes them more inclined to follow them. This technique lasts 6 posts.

Into the Sand
B-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra , Kotaru will place his hands in front of him with his fingers spread and palms pointed down and then makes a downward pushing motion. When his target sees the motion, the genjutsu will activate. Over one post, the ground beneath the target will cover their feet up to their ankles and act as quicksand, pulling them down with 20 strength. If the target has above 20 strength, they can wrench their body from the ground, which will cause the illusion to break. After the first post, for the next 4 posts the target will slowly sink into the ground in the following manner:
  • End of 2nd post: buried up to the knees
  • End of 3rd post: buried up to the waist
  • End of 4th post: buried up to the neck.
The target will remain buried to the neck for an additional post before the technique ends.

The Imposter’s Hands
B-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, the genjutsu is activated when he and the target make physical contact. The target will view their hands as belonging to someone else, and they will appear to be the wrong skin tone, have unfamiliar scars or blemishes, and the like. This will cause the target to believe that their hands will not cooperate with them, and they may hesitate to grab their weapons or form hand seals for fear that their hands will fail them. This justu lasts 4 posts.

The Spectre
B-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
Pre-Requisite: 27 Control
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will hold his hands in front of him with his fingers curved inward as if holding a ball. Once the targets see this motion, the genjutsu is activated. Once the genjutsu is activated, the targets will see a dark purple, solid shadow emerge from Kotaru’s body. It will then immediately appear in front of the targets and enter their mouth. For the next four posts, the targets will feel as though they are burning from the inside from gut to their throat. They will believe that they are being burned and melted from the inside out by the spectre and will find it difficult to focus on and react to their surroundings.

Confusion
B-Ranked Status Genjutsu
Pre-requisite: Bursting Finger Pellet
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will use the Bursting Finger Pellet technique, and the sound will activate the genjutsu. Once the genjutsu is activated, the targets of the genjustu will temporarily forget the correct hand seals sequences of the techniques they were planning to use while in the middle of the string of seals. They may complete the sequence of seals, but it will be incorrect and nothing will happen. If they try the seals a second time, however, they will be successful. This lasts 2 posts.

Communication
B-Ranked Overlay Genjutsu
Pre-requisite: 30 Control, 27 Instinct
After performing the needed seals, Kotaru touches up to three targets in quick succession to activate this genjutsu. The overlay lasts up to 4 posts. During this time, Kotaru and the targets will be transported to an open grassy field. The sky is cloudless and mostly dark, appearing to be at dusk, with the sun, moon, and stars brightly visible. He and the targets will be in the middle of the field with their legs crossed. In this world, jutsu will fail, they have no weapons on their person, and all physical stats are set to 5, making combat nearly impossible.

After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will make physical contact with his target to trigger the genjutsu. Once the genjutsu is activated, the target’s mind will blank, and they will find it very difficult to form complete thoughts. The target will be “out of it,” and will not respond to stimulation such as commands, non-painful physical sensations, or moderate changes in their visual field for 5 posts.

Hold Still
A-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, Kotaru will clasp his hands together. Once the targets sees this motion, the illusion of force genjutsu will activate. For the duration of one post, those who are under the genjutsu's influence will feel as though a pressure painfully pressing in on them from all sides, forcing arms against their body and locking their legs together, and any other limbs that the target may posses will also be pressed toward their body. If the targets have above 25 strength, they will be able to physically break the illusion. Otherwise, the targets will continue to feel the force upon their body and be unable to move for four posts.

Anguish
A-Ranked Status Genjutsu
Kotaru will channel his chakra and then make a small draw of blood from his body or shiin. When the target sees the blood, the genjutsu will activate. The target will think horrible thoughts which is likely to severely diminish their focus. These thoughts will range from their impending, violent death, to the torture and dismemberment of their friends and loved ones by the hands of faceless enemies. They will feel a strong sense of fear and grief and will be unwilling to move and unable to think of or focus on anything else. This jutsu lasts 5 posts.

The Imposter
A-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
After channeling his chakra, the genjutsu is triggered when the target makes physical contact with him. Once the genjutsu is activated, the target will see and feel as if their body does not belong to them.Their body will appear to them to be the wrong skin tone, build, age, and sometimes gender, and will feel physically weak, and if the target is a shinobi they will feel as though their body belongs to a person who has never been trained as such. The target will believe the “fake body” is unable to perform their techniques and that it is unable to coordinate taijutsu maneuvers effectively. This genjutsu lasts 6 posts.

Temple of Nirvana
A-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
This is a technique that allows the user to affect a large body of people. After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru will whistle to activate the genjutsu. Once the genjutsu is activated, the targets will see steam just above the surface of the ground that slowly swirls upward. Due to the nature of the technique, if a target realizes this is a genjutsu they only need a genjutsu stat of 10 to break out of it. Otherwise, the targets will fall into a state of unconsciousness at the end of the post.

Silenced
A-Ranked Illusion Genjutsu
After performing the necessary hand seals, Kotaru spends one post touching targets. At the beginning of the second post, anyone he has touched will be affected by this genjutsu. Those affected will no longer be able to hear Kotaru’s voice for the next 7 posts. They will be able to hear everything else as normal.

The user will do a series of hand seals, then touch their target on the forehead. If successful, the target will be transported into an empty world, their hands and feet bound to the ground with shackles that they can't seem to break no matter how much they resist. The user will then appear in front of them, and is able to attack and torment the target however they see fit. While the genjutsu only lasts for about 10 minutes (5 posts) for the user, every second feels like an hour to target, making the genjutsu feel like it lasts for 600 hours. Any weapons or objects the user needs will appear from no where for their use.

Temple of the Abyss
S-Ranked Warp Genjutsu
Pre-requisite: 40 Genjutsu, 40 Control
This is a technique that allows the user to affect a large body of people. After performing the needed hand seals, Kotaru will whistle to activate the genjutsu. Once the genjutsu is activated, the targets will see a dark fog on the ground that slowly swirls upward for two posts. Due to the nature of the technique, if a target realizes this is a genjutsu they only need a genjutsu stat of 25 to break out of it. Otherwise, the targets will fall into a state of unconsciousness at the end of the second post.
