  • Face/head: Kaiho has a square jaw, short brown hair, and a large, squarish face that despite its size is quite handsome. His neck is thicker than his head, with enourmous, well-developed muscles.
  • Body: Kaiho's body is enormous and his muscles well-defined. He has a broad, barrel chest, thick arms and forearms, and massive hands. His legs are similarly large and muscled.
  • Notable Features:Kaiho is covered in scars, mostly from brawls he got in as a youngster.
Clothing/Accessories: Kaiho wears a blacksmith apron, simple pants, and a white cloth tied around his head to keep sweat from dripping into his eyes. His pants are tied off at both ends with rough rope, and if he wears shoes they are simple sandals.

  • General: Kaiho is quick with a laugh and a dirty joke, and does everything to extremes. He eats heartily, laughs loudly, loves fully, and hates ferociously. In his opinion, a life lived by halves is not a life worth living.

A character with this concentration is able to utilize Doton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the doton affinity. Doton has a passive enduring effect.

Doton has a passive effect of Endurance, which means that it's power is retained throughout the entirety of the jutsu. All of a single doton jutsu retains the strength of the jutsu, even after the jutsu has been destroyed, and unlike other jutsu, doton does not fade when destroyed. This means that if a doton barrier with 25 strength is cut in half and falls to the ground, a part of that barrier could be picked up and carried as a hand held shield which would still have 25 strength, despite being a fractured part of a jutsu. This creates incredibly potent defenses, making doton a popular affinity among defensive fighters.

Raiton
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Raiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Raiton affinity. Raiton has a shocking effect.
Passive (Shocking)Show
Raiton has the effect of shocking, which means causes it's effect to be diffuse upon impact. In organic material, this causes nervous stimulation which results in numbness, tingling, loss of sensation, and sometimes paralysis based on the [Strength] of the technique. In inorganic material, this means that the strength of the jutsu diffuses across an area 2x the size of the attack. In a jutsu that creates a lightning ball 2m in diameter, if it struck a wall the size of the attack would cover a 4m area.
Suiton:
Suiton Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Suiton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Suiton affinity. Suiton has a passive Replenishing effect.
Passive (Replenishing)Show
Suiton's effect is replenishing, this means that suiton jutsu passively repair themselves when damaged, at no additional cost to the user. The rate of repairing itself is 1/3 [Strength] per post. This only works for the length of the technique, so maintaining the damage to Suiton until the jutsu expires will stop it from regrowing.

A character with this concentration is able to utilize Fuuton, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Fuuton affinity. Fuuton has an cutting effect.
Passive (Cutting)Show
Fuuton has a natural cutting property to it, that exists in all jutsu unless otherwise stated. This gives fuuton a unique opportunity to strike with additional power, and to act as a offensive defense. Regardless of their purpose fuuton jutsu passively cut with no distinct pattern at 1/2 the strength of the technique rounded down unless otherwise stated. This means if someone punched a 20 strength fuuton wall, they would get cuts on their hand applied with 10 strength. This also means that fuuton jutsu specifically designated to cut things can create devastating wound by essentially striking twice.

Katon Affinity
A character with this concentration is able to utilize Katon, and can make and use any custom or archived jutsu that require the Katon affinity. Katon has a passive ignition effect.

Katon's effect is ignition, which means that all katon jutsu, regardless of effect, start and spread fire from their source. Once a jutsu has been performed, the fire from the jutsu spreads at 1/3rd the speed of the technique, rounded down. That means a C-rank katon jutsu that moves at 13 speed would create subsequent fires that spread at 4 speed. These secondary fires require flammable material to continuously spread, otherwise they will burn out on their own. Additionally, Katon jutsu have a Burning effect, and burn anyone they come in contact with with [Control] strength.

Masters of their craft are able to recognize their own limitations and weak points. Knowing this the smith has learned to protect the weak points of their weapon(s) and equipment. When wielding weapons, they’ve personally crafted, this crafter’s weapons are able to remain intact even when they receive two strikes that would exceed the normal structural integrity and break them but will break if they continue to be used. For example, if they have a sword with 30 strength that blocks two 40 strength strikes, it will not shatter, and would suffer growing structural damage to the weapon but if they used it to block another (third) strike it would immediately shatter. This allows the crafter to avoid losing weapons.

An incredibly complex skill to use, chakra tempering is often thought to be a permanent process. But a master smith is able to recognize any weapons that are chakra tempered and during the heat of battle, use their own chakra to undo that tempering. By channeling chakra into their own weapons or equipment, when they meet with a chakra tempered weapon they release the chakra they’ve channeled into a burst against the weapon. The opponent will feel this surge of chakra and, in the moment, be able to resist it. Should the user’s Control be less than or equal to the target’s Control, they’ll be able to prevent this effect. Otherwise, the tempering of their weapon will come undone. If a weapon’s chakra tempering is undone, it retains any built in properties (reinforcement, design benefits, etc), but will no longer be able to use any chakra based effects (enchantments, used as a medium for jutsu, etc) until the tempering is returned. Undoing tempering this way is permanent until redon, but does not remove enchanted effects rather only disables them.

With large amount of experience in the ‘arcane’ as it was once called, this individual is able to imbue chakra, and skills into material things, crafting highly sought after mystical weapons through the usage of Ancient Runes fuuinjutsu. While this typically doesn’t grant the individual themselves any additional powers, it allows them to make more powerful gear for themselves and shinobi that what can typically be found. Those with this concentration are able to imbue equipment with a wide range of abilities that can only be explained by jutsu. Enchanters use sample of chakra to mimic and imbue abilities into weapons and gear.

Not an actual fuuinjutsu technique, this discipline is the first step in a fuuinjutsu user being able to utilized 'Ancient Rune' techniques. A highly sought after talent, Runes are an ancient form of fuuinjutsu much stronger than the standard fuuinjutsu and are used to embed jutsu effects into things on a permanent basis. This discipline shows that the user has the knowledge to understand Runes, and can interpret what a Rune does through visual inspection. This technique is required to learn any [Ancient Rune] technique.

Prerequisite: *[Ancient Rune: Scholar]
Reflective of the first step to actually utilize Runes, the 'Novice' is able to embed D-rank Ninpou effects with up to [25] Control and any other subsequent stats into a Rune. A semi-permanent version of fuuinjutsu, previously shaped chakra can be placed into a rune and then embedded into an object, allowing for the effect to be retained by the weapon indefinitely. Unlike standard charge fuuin, Runes cannot be removed via fuuinjutsu removal, but are negated when the object is detempered. This technique cannot be performed in combat. The Novice must know the technique being embedded, or currently have it stored in another Rune.

Having learned how to utilize ancient runes, this user has also learned how to store and manipulate pre-existing chakra shapes. Unlike standard charge fuuin, Runes cannot be removed via fuuinjutsu removal, but are negated when the object is detempered. This technique cannot be performed in combat. The Master must know the technique being embedded, or currently have it stored in another Rune.

Kaiho Masumune was born to an extremely poor family in Xincha, prior to the formation of the Heart Empire. His family was loving, but never had enough to eat for himself or his brothers--and so, the moment that he turned 5, he was sold to a local blacksmith as a live-in apprentice. Kaiho didn't resent the decision--it gave his parents enough money to get out of debt and begin to claw their way back up the social ladder, and the conditions he was moving to were actually better than what he'd had before. Rather than going hungry, he always at least had some gruel in his belly. Instead of sleeping on the floor, he slept on a bunk in the apprentice's quarters. And best of all, he found the one true love of his life: smithing.

He absorbed knowledge like a sponge, often offering to work double overtime shifts to learn all he could from the master smith and the senior apprentices--often, this meant standing quietly and watching, getting them atter or fuel or more materiel as they requested. Still, he was allowed to smith small things at first--horseshoe nails, caltrops, and rough kunai for the shop's many customers. Soon, though, he found that the tongs were easier to grip, that he didn't get as tired when manning the bellows, and he began to grow like a weed thanks to the physical strain and the constant, steady meals. After all, food was only withheld if you made a mistake, and Kaiho Masamune did not make mistakes in the forge.

In fact, by the age of 10 he was named a senior apprentice, able to assist the master directly and forge more complicated items, such as horseshoes and wakizashi blades. He was the youngest among the apprentices to achieve such an honor, and it was well-deserved. The metal seemed to sing to him as his hammer struck the cherry-red metal, and he found himself able to know the precise timing for striking, heating, cooling, and tempering the blade in an almost instinctual way, and the items he produced were of an unusual quality. Even if he only assisted in the creation of a blade or piece of armor, the item would often turn out extremely well, even for the apprentices and journeymen. The head smith recognized this talent and took the young boy under his wing, teaching him everything he possibly could about the finer details of his craft and honing his abilities in hearing the Song of Steel.

At the age of twelve, the blacksmith offered Kaiho the opportunity to either come on as a jounior blacksmith under him, or gain a Journeyman's badge and go out into the world to learn more smithing techniques. Kaiho thanked his master graciously for the offer, but took the journeyman's badge, and set out on a 16-year journey through the world. During this time he traveled all over the continent and beyond, learning more crafting techniques including the Runesmithing technique. By the time he returned home, he was 20 years old, covered in scars, and surprised to find the country much-changed. The Heart Empire had come about while he was away, and Xincha had undergone something of a steampunk industrialization, but one thing did not change: people still needed smiths to produce blades to stand up to the Shinobi's techniques.

For the past 20 years, Masamune Kaiho has operated a storefront in the bustling heart of Xincha, one which is somewhat difficult to find--down an alley in the Smithing District, with a plain storefront and a simple wooden sign that reads Masamune Smithy, where those in the know can obtain wonderous armor and blades, should the smithy within like you enough. Masamune Kaiho is selective about his clientele, only making blades for those he deems worthy of them.
