It was late afternoon in Aroma Country. The ocean breeze made what would have otherwise been an oppressively hot, humid day into a delightful, balmy one. The perfect weather to sit on a warm rock, soak up some rays, and enjoy a cool beverage, which is exactly what Jirou was doing. Sitting on a rocky outcropping with a view of both the beach and the road into town, Jirou sipped the beer he had managed to snag from a vendor and peoplewatched. That was when he noticed a stranger come into town.

Well, essentially everyone he could see was a stranger to him. What made this person stick out was their clothes. The throngs of beachgoers tended to be dressed in, well, beach clothes: swim trunks, bikinis, wetsuits and so on. A few fancier, more traditional people were going around in yukatas. All of them gave the person who had entered town a wide berth. The newcomer was wearing wide hakama pants, a black haori, red gauntlets, and a wide straw hat.

Samurai!

Most of the people visiting Aroma right now, at least most of the non-civilians were shinobi. Jirou had not met any samurai whom he did not already know, and who were also not hired help, providing security to the assembled crowd. This was his chance to meet someone new. Maybe even spar with them and experience a new style. Jirou clambered down from his spot and made his way over to where the stranger was walking.

“You!” he boomed, pointing at the newcomer. Between his height, physique, and loud voice, Jirou likely cut an imposing figure, even in his swim trunks with flames on them. Up close, he noticed how small the figure was. They were either the world’s smallest adult or a relatively normal-sized person around his age – maybe a little younger. “With the sword. I'm Kisama Jirou, of the Heart Empire! Are you a samurai?”

Yozora was a foreigner in this land- the Aroma Country, a nation she had never heard of even a few months ago. She had never seen so many people in one place before! This was wildly different than her old village. And especially having spent the last few years training with Satori-sensei at their remote cabin, the sight of so many people definitely came as a shock to her. She imagined if this is what Kumogakure was like. The weather would be different, obviously, and she doubted that Kumo smelled so strongly of sea salt. The young traveler wasn't sure if she should be at the ready, prepared for danger, or if she should find peace in the anonymity of the crowd and allow herself to relax. Looking around, seeing the surrounding masses dressed in only casual clothing, she chose the latter- she took a deep breath and looked down at the beverage in her hands, an oddity that she had purchased at one of the many kiosks lining the busy streets.

The nice lady at the kiosk had referred to the beverage as an "iced tea." Now, tea was something that Yozora was intimately familiar with. But iced tea was certainly something she had never encountered before! Of course, she had spent most of her life in a remote village, and then in a remote cabin, and then wandering aimlessly from town to town. She rarely encountered ice, and on the occasions in which she did, it never occurred to her to put it into tea! What an interesting concept. You have to boil the water to pour it over the leaves in order to brew the tea, and then once that's done, you added frozen water to the product to cool it down! What a novel and charming concept.

She brought the paper cup to her lips and drew a tiny sip- how odd! The flavors were definitely familiar, she guessed it was just a common black tea, but the temperature definitely accentuated different components of the flavor. It was sweeter than she expected, with the slightest note of honey (she made a mental note to procure some honey, if possible, to keep with her supplies). She took another sip, and decided that she did quite enjoy this iced tea. Perhaps not as much as she did a traditional hot tea, but she could not deny that it was a refreshing treat that quite suited the heat of the day.

Yozora lifted the cup to her lips for a second sip, her moment of refreshment interrupted by an abrupt - You! - as she began to purse her lips on the edge of the cup, her eyes darting to the source of the outburst: a taller than average man with fiery hair and fiery...half pants. She took her sip and lowered her cup before responding. "Well, " she paused briefly to ponder the question, which she had never been asked before. She certainly lived a life similar to one a samurai might live, but she was certainly a shinobi by training. Hm. "No, I suppose I am a shinobi. Are you a samurai?" She realized that this was likely the first time she had ever referred to herself as a shinobi, and saying the words aloud gave her a sense of pride. "I am Sunakimi, Yozora."

Upon seeing the stranger sipping iced tea from a paper cup, some of Jirou’s fantasy of them being a powerful wandering samurai began to erode. Well, it had begun to erode when he saw just how tiny Yozora was, but the paper cup was really the nail in the coffin. Well, maybe not quite the nail in the coffin: the real nail in the coffin was Yozora telling him “No” when he had asked if she was a samurai, but the paper cup wasn’t great for that image either.

“Oh,” Jirou said, his confident pose deflating slightly. He had been excited to meet a foreign samurai instead of yet another ninja. Still, maybe this situation could be remedied. Jirou studied this non-samurai more closely. He had to squat down a little to get a better look at her face, but when he did it became clear that she was in fact a normally-sized teenager, and not an unusually-small adult.

Somewhere between her loose clothes and the short hair that Jirou could make out under her hat, Jirou also made the assumption that Yozora was a boy. He was clearly a little younger than Jirou which explained both the height and the softer features. The feminine name seemed to have simply blown past him.

“Yeah! I’m a samurai!” Jirou announced, his mood lifted again as he straightened up and walked over so he was next to Yozora. “I’m an Akibushi of the Heart Empire and apprentice to the great samurai Roku Shuryo.” He beamed as he told her that, his voice uncomfortably loud now that he was right next to Yozora.

“If you’re a ninja, what village are you from? I don’t see a uh…” Jirou paused, and traced out a rectangle along his forehead with his fingers. “A forehead thingy on you.”

Yozora had not, before this moment, considered how much of an oddity she was in this world - a shinobi that did not hail from one of the great ninja villages. She supposed that she was, technically, from the Lightning Empire, but that of course was not that same as having been born and raised in Kumogakure no Sato proper. And while she was trained by a Kumo shinobi, she did not follow the traditional academy path that a genin would. So perhaps it was not quite accurate to say that she was a shinobi. But it was also not quite accurate to call herself a samurai. Not that it really mattered, but she was curious about how others may perceive and describe her position in this world. She took another sip from her iced tea, again quite pleased with the experience. She hoped that her next several days in Aroma country proved to bring plenty of new pondering and experiences, as it already had.

She was quite surprised to hear the man describe himself as a samurai. Not due to his physique, for he surely did have the physique of a trained fighter. But because of his... half pants, adorned with flames, an embellishment that Yozora could not help but see as tacky, an opinion that she was far too polite to share aloud. But then again, she supposed that she was the odd one out in this scenario - most of the people coming and growing around them we dressed more like this Jirou of the Heart Empire than herself. She nevertheless decided that this manner of dress did not suit her, and ultimately decided that she would continue to wear her own clothes. At least for now.

Of course, Yozora was no fool - this young man had both assumed that she was a samurai, and introduced himself as such within the span of a few breaths. And she could see a subtle but clear disappointment on his face when she revealed that she was not, in fact, a samurai, and the pride when he spoke of his sensei Roku. It seemed obvious to her that this boy had hoped to test his mettle against her own. "You're right - I do not wear a 'forehead thingy', a Hitai-ate. I am the student of the great Kumogakure shinobi Sunakimi, Satori, though I have never been there myself." She paused briefly before continuing.

"You want to test your blade against my own, is that right?"

“I thought you would never ask!” Jirou bellowed, a huge grin spreading across his face. Jirou was glad that he had been drinking just a moment ago: it would let him utilize his bloodline powers while sparring. Speaking of his powers, Jirou stretched his left arm out in front of him, and from his palm, a brass katana with a long blade sprung out. It was a somewhat crude weapon – no work of art to be sure – but it was clearly razor sharp. He reached over, grabbed the sword’s handle with his right hand, and with a swift motion, snapped the weapon from his hand.

“Let’s head over to the beach,” Jirou suggested, pointing to a spot near the water with his left hand and resting the dull side of the blade against his right shoulder. “There are a ton of ninja and samurai here and we’re all allowed to train, but they prefer we do it out on the sand.”

Walking towards the beach, Jirou looked over his shoulder at Yozora trying to gauge her reaction to his sword trick.

“Hey! Hey! You two!” someone shouted from a few feet away in a nasally, high-pitched voice. “Are you two planning on sparring?”

Jirou looked over in the direction of the voice. One of the Aroma Samurai was standing there, clad in the armor of a Pebble Samurai and sporting thick eyeglasses ad a thin mustache. He was pointing at Yozora.

“You can’t train on the beach looking like that!” The samurai followed up. “You must wear appropriate clothing!” He pointed to a nearby sign, which listed several rules including “Anyone who trains must do so in beach attire!”

“Oh come on…” Jirou started, clearly getting angry at the rule. The samurai cut him off.

“Rules are rules young man. Go get your friend some appropriate clothing.”

Jirou sighed and turned to Yozora.

“Do you have any beachwear with you? No worries if you don’t: there are places to buy it all around here. You could even get a pair of cool flame trunks like mine!”

Yozora was quite surprised by Jirou's sudden display of his ability. Her eyes widened in mild shock, partly because this did not seem an appropriate place to unsheathe a weapon, and partly because how could she possibly have expected that this man in half-pants had the ability to sprout swords from his body? She found herself quite envious of this ability- it offered the boy a similar utility to Satori-sensei's Eye of Many Wonders, but she assumed that Jirou's power extended to more than just swords. During their spar, she would need to be prepared for Jirou to call forth any number of weapons and items. Yozora thought that perhaps her initial judgment of this boy - and his half-pants - were perhaps premature.

Jirou gestured them towards the beach with boisterous confidence and an exaggerated pose. She had never met anyone quite like this boy before, but then again, Yozora hadn't met very many people at all. She scarcely had the time to raise her foot to follow Jirou before a shrill voice called her attention to what she could only assume was some kind of lawman, who drew their attention to a posted dress code. She could feel the corner of her eye twitching - what sense did it make to force them to train in leisure wear?! And why did he care?! She had half the mind to scream at this man for being some kind of weird pervert, his weird little mustache was evidence enough of that. But she, glancing down at her refreshing iced tea, thought that maybe that was not the best course of action. If she went and got herself kicked out of this event, she wouldn't be able to sample all of the delightful treats that this land had to offer.

She narrowed her eyes at the man as she responded to Jirou. "Yes, let us go procure some appropriate clothing." She did her best to mimic the man's nasally voice as she quoted him, clearly displeased with the fact that this strange man whom she had never met before felt it appropriate to tell her what she could and could not wear for training. She has been training for years, and never once had she done so in beachwear! What nonsense. She turned and walked off in a direction away from the man, not knowing if a clothing store laid down her chosen path.

Turning around, Jirou walked after Yozora, chuckling at her impression of the samurai.

“Wait wait wait,” he laughed, fabricating a pair of clunky, brass eyeglass frames and handing them to Yozora. “You need these. Try the impression again now.”

Even as he laughed and joked with Yozora, a few passerby gave him worried glances. Jirou jumped when he realized why: he was in fact walking around with an unsheathed sword. In a similar manner to how he fashioned the sword and the glassses, Jirou produced a sheath and a length of wire which he used to sling the sword around his broad chest.

“So, what brought you to Aroma Country? Relax on the beach? Get some sun? Take in the, um, sights?” Jirou gestured with his head to a pair of bikini-clad women walking nearby as he came to the part about the sights. Before Yozora could respond, Jirou slammed his hand down on her shoulder.

“Oh! Right there!” Jirou announced, pointing with his other hand in the direction of a nearby shop. On the street around the open entrance were about a dozen wooden mannequins arrayed in all sorts of beachwear. “Bingo!” Jirou marched in. The small shop was crowded with both patrons and tightly-packed rows of clothing topped by yet more mannequins showing off the season’s styles. The place was roughly into a men’s half and a women’s half.

“Oh hell yeah, those are awesome. What do you think?” he asked, gesturing to a pair of swimming trunks on one of the inside mannequins. They were royal purple, with a black and silver dragon winding its way around the legs and waist. The dragon’s head was placed on the waistband with a red drawstring near its open mouth, looking like it was breathing especially limp fire.

When Jirou handed her the brass glasses, her first thought was that her previous assumption about his abilities were correct - this young samurai was capable of creating a wide variety of items to suit his current needs. This also showed his ability to think on his feet, a skill that surely benefited him on the battlefield. But it also evoked in her an emotion that she had not felt in quite some time...mirth! She reflexively laughed aloud, open-mouthed and smiling. Not since before the tragedy that befell her village, before she had begun her shinobi training with Satori-sensei, when she spent much of her time running and playing with the other kids of the village. It had been many years since she allowed herself to let her guard down like this.

She took the glasses and immediately put them on, doing her best to recreate her impression while walking. "Hey! He-" She broke out into another laugh, finding it difficult to keep her composure. She continued, finding it difficult not to stutter through the laughter. "Hey! Young woman! Don't you know it's illegal to to train with p-p-pants on!"

After the laughter from her own impression had subsided, Jirou asked her an odd question while gesturing to a pair of attractive young women that walked past. The ladies were pretty, sure...but surely Jirou didn't think that she would travel all this way just to see some pretty ladies? What an odd fellow her new friend was. She didn't really have a chance to respond before Jirou brought her attention to a beach wear shop. Which was good, because Yozora had most definitely not been paying any attention to where they were going.

As they entered, Jirou brought her attention to a pair of swimming trunks that were most definitely something she could imagine him wearing, but was not at all something that she herself would wear. It was too... loud. Yozora preferred a softer aesthetic, and found herself drawn to a pair of white trunks close by. "I think these!" she grabbed the white shorts from the nearly folded piles, and then headed to the women's side of the store to continue piecing together her legally mandated training gear.

Jirou laughed along with Yozora. The glasses were silly-looking enough, but with the voice, it was just too much. He threw his head back, letting out belts of loud, full-bellied laughter. Wait, did he say “young woman” or “young man”? With all the laughing, Jirou hadn’t quite made out what Yozora had said, and now it felt awkward to ask. Still, he needed an answer to what had become a burning, urgent, question in his mind: Have I been talking with A GIRL this whole time?

His first attempt at getting an answer had been subtly asking about “the sights.” The moment he asked the question though, he realized the problem: if Yozora was a girl, and she also liked girls, then that wasn’t going to help him much. It was also just a straight up weird thing to ask. Jirou was thankful that he spotted the clothing store when he did: it saved him from needing to navigate the aftermath of that particular question.

Pointing out what was objectively the coolest pair of trunks in the store was his second attempt. He figured that Yozora’s choice of garment would give him an answer. Befuddling then, when she grabbed a pair of white shorts from the mens section and proceeded to go over to the women’s section and start looking there.

Alright, screw the subtle approach. Jirou followed Yozora over to the other side of the store. The moment he crossed the divide, Jirou started to feel uncomfortable. A guy hanging out in the women’s section was weird enough. He was a noble samurai of Heart; he didn’t want the other patrons to think he was some kind of pervert. His stride got a little shorter and his shoulders hunched forward.

“Hey, Yozora,” Jirou said tentatively, using his best inside voice which was more than loud enough to be heard in the whole store. I guess Yozora is a pretty girly name. “Are you a girl?”

Jirou's laughter at her joke filled Yozora with a sort of silly joy that she had not felt since childhood. While her days spent training under Satori-sensei were happy days, very few of the days were joyful, and very few moments were anything resembling silly. Of course, he could not help it- Satori was terminally ill for much of the time they spent together. He was also terminally serious. She briefly wondered if Satori had ever had moments of silliness, and decided that, no, he had probably been born serious, intent on his birth being free of even minor mistakes. These thoughts thankfully quickly fell away, and Yozora was incredibly happy to have found a new friend.

Yozora made her way quickly up and down the rows of tables and mannequins displaying all manners of swimsuits, most of which she would never remotely consider wearing. The vast majority of her options were either too revealing, too uncomfortable looking, too brightly colored, too gauchely patterned... many of them being all of these things. As she was perusing the options, Jirou approached her and asked her a question that she had been asked a number of times before and had almost come to expect: considering her very short hair and loose fitting samurai clothing, it really didn't surprise her when she was asked her gender. She responded with a simple, nonchalant "Yeah, I'm a girl." As she lifted up a simple gray one-piece to hold in front of her, eyeing it up in an attempt to calculate whether or not it would fit her. She decided that yes, this would probably do, and retreaed to the changing room to confirm her choices.

She quickly swapped out her traditional gear for the swimsuit and shorts, still feeling quite exposed. She thought for a moment, grabbing and donning her hakama top. She let it hang loose and open rather than securing it with her belt, which helped her feel more comfortable but also gave her outfit a light and breezy look. Of course, she would not feel comfortable walking about in a strange land without her weapons: she secured Many Hands for Many Battles around her waist (under the hakama, so as to facilitate her cool and casual look), and slung The Eye Of Many Wonders across her back. She finished off her outfit with her large hat, which she felt really brought the entire outfit together. Satisfied, she sealed her own clothes into her supplies scroll and exited the changing room. As she exited, she put her new brass glasses on- deciding that she would probably wear them for at least the rest of the day.

She found Jirou, holding her arms out to display her outfit as she asked "What do you think? Does this pass for appropriate clothing?"

Having gotten an answer to his burning question, Jirou felt a little like a dog who had chased and caught a cart, and now had to figure out what to do with it. To hear his older brother or the old soldiers at the Scallop and Nabe talk, going swimsuit shopping like this with a girl should have been a steamy, romantic affair. This didn’t feel that way though. It was a little awkward and weird (okay, maybe a lot awkward and weird). Maybe a little silly too. Mostly though, it just kind of felt normal: not all that much unlike if he were to go buy clothes with his friends back in Xincha.

Jirou watched in silence as Yozora grabbed a swimsuit and walked over to the changing rooms. He heard someone laugh in the store and looked around warily, sure that they were laughing at his predicament. His attention snapped back to Yozora as she exited the changing room. Unfortunately for him, the first thing he did upon seeing her was break into a fit of laughter. The glasses were just too much. Oh man, and she even did the impression again too! He looked away for a moment, thankful for his dark skin. If he were pale like Yozora, he would look like a tomato right about now. He looked back at her and tried to control his laughter.

“You look-” he couldn’t do it. He could feel his face getting warmer. Even if this didn’t feel especially romantic, he still got the feeling that laughing in a girl’s face the moment she stepped out of a changing room was not the correct move. He took a deep breath and managed to calm himself.

“You look…” how did she look? It’ll be weird if I say ‘pretty’ don’t say that. It's not... wrong but it'll be weird. “Definitely appropriate. You look nice! And summery!” he finally decided, giving Yozora a big grin. He hoped that would smooth over his initial reaction. “But everything’s white and gray. I think you need something colorful.”

Jirou looked around hurriedly. Most of the stuff around him was more swimsuits. There were a few wraps, but with her hakama top, Yozora had that covered. There were a few hair accessories, but Yozora didn’t have much hair.

“Ah ha!” Jirou grabbed a fake hibiscus flower hair clip, walked over to Yozora, and clipped it onto the edge of her hat. “There! Totally cute!” That was just the kind of weird thing that he had been trying not to say. The moment the words left his mouth he could feel his face flush again. He hoped Yozora wouldn’t notice.

It felt good to be be laughed at. Living with Satori-sensei... Yozora had (mostly) given up on making that man laugh, he was just so serious all the time. The past few years of her life had been devoted almost entirely to the pursuits of training and education. She knew that it wasn't his fault- his life had (sometimes literally) beat all of the fun out of the man. She also knew now that Satori knew his time was limited, and that he was laboring to impart to her as much knowledge as he could before being claimed by his illness. She appreciated all that Satori-sensei had done for her, and understood why things were the way they were... but still, she wished they had had the time to have more fun together. Or maybe she just wished that they had had more time together. She laughed with him, partly because her joke was funny, but also because Jirou's laugh was contagious. It felt good to laugh with someone!

Yozora had had a tough life herself, but by the time Satori was her age, he had been chosen to shoulder the burden of one of Kumogakure's great chakra beasts. And then he was thrust into a the vanguard of a war that would determine the fate of one of the great five villages, and therefore, the world. She wondered if she would ever find herself bearing such a burden. Jirou continued speaking, which broke her free from her contemplation. This was no time for brooding! She was literally shopping for a swimsuit! The thought that she was perhaps more like her sensei than she thought briefly crossed her mind, but she would have to ruminate on that thought at a later time, because what was important right now was that Jirou was walking back in her direction with a...fake flower?

As Jirou clipped the flower to her hat, Yozora realized that it wasn't just any flower- but a hibiscus flower. Her mind immediately wandered back to her days with sensei, the many hours that they spent thoughtfully pruning their hibiscus bushes, harvesting the flowers, drying the petals, brewing them into tea... why must everything remind her of him? She supposed that this is what grief was.

She thought that Jirou was acting quite strange. But then again, she had just met the boy, so perhaps this was quite normal behavior for him. He seemed to be quite nervous, but in a... happy way? It was quite peculiar, a pattern of behavior that she had never encountered before. And what was wrong with white and grey? She liked white and grey! She wished more people could learn to the see the beauty in simplicity. She put a lot of thought into her clothing, thank you very much! But then he called her...cute? Which was quite surprising, and Yozora didn't know how to respond to that. So she didn't. She could the skin of her neck getting warm, but she chose not to think about that and just move on with her life.

Instead, pivoted to face the nearby mirror and thoughtfully examined the flower's contribution to her outfit and decided... that she liked it quite a lot, actually. Perhaps Jirou was on to something with this too much white and grey business. "It's... perfect! I love it!" She turned back to Jirou, giving him a warm smile of approval. Her expression then quickly turned serious. "Now that that's done, I do believe we have some business to attend to." She quickly stopped at the till to pay for her new attire and then made her way to the door.

“I’m glad you like it!” Jirou responded to Yozora’s warm smile with a huge grin of his own. “It definitely goes with the rest of your appropriate attire.

Jirou made rings with his fingers and put them up to his face, imitating glasses to go along with his own impression of the samurai from earlier. He didn’t think it was quite as good as Yozora’s, but he still chuckled a little at his own joke. With all the excitement of taking a girl swimsuit shopping, Jirou had almost forgotten why they had been shopping for a swimsuit in the first place. Yozora’s sudden shift of expression and tone brought him back.

This isn’t quite how I thought challenging someone to a sparring duel would go. As the pair walked out of the store, Jirou thought to himself how much less like some legendary wandering samurai Yozora looked like now. She still had some of that vibe to her with the hakama and the hat, but now she looked much more like a beach going teenage girl than the especially small samurai he had taken her for originally. For a moment, Jirou wondered if he wanted to fight her. Then, he thought of Suzuko, who could probably turn him into a fine paste if she wanted. Of his sister as well, who could hold her own against him. At least she could before his martial training. Yozora had training of her own, so Jirou put that train of thought aside: it would be a good match.

As they made their way back onto the beach, Jirou stuck his tongue out at the bespectacled, mustachioed guard who had harangued them earlier. The man scowled back, but did nothing, as he had no reason to stop them. Once they were out on the sand, Jirou found some space, and traced out an arena for them in the sand. That done, he stood on one side of the arena and took a combat stance. In his right hand, he held his sword, and from his left, he exuded a 10m spool of thin, flexible wire (not so thin as to slice flesh though). Finally, with a deep breath, Jirou flexed his muscles, and plates of 20 Strength brass armor pushed out from all over his body. He looked over at Yozora with a cocky grin.

*[Toryu • Skipping Stone]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The signature Stance of Toryu, practitioners relax the muscles in their bodies, gaining additional flexibility in their movements in how they approach the enemy, how they retreat, how they evade attacks, and how they attack the opponent. This Stance allows the practitioner to more easily read opponent's attacks and defend against them by evading in unusual ways, such as ducking, bending around, and quickly sidestepping attacks without needlessly exposing themselves to additional attacks. This fleet-footed Stance lets the practitioner mix up their movements to confuse and misdirect the opponent, allowing them to attack lesser-known openings in the opponent's guard. It also allows the practitioner to rapidly and reflexively change the angle, position and grip of their weapon with minimal movement, allowing them multiple manners in which they can attack the opponent or defend against attacks.

C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: ~Oudouchi 🔩 Brass Shield
By focusing their blood over the entirety of their body, natural armor will sprout from all 5 key locations (head, arms, legs, chest, feet) at once, saving time and energy over doing them one at a time.

Yozora took her place across from Jirou on their improvised battlefield, removing her hakama top and hat and setting them on a large, conveniently placed rock near the circle that her new friend had carved out of the sand. This would reveal to Jirou the wire spool and explosive tags on her left and right sides, respectively. Of course, Many Hands was wrapped securely around her waist- she was sure she looked quite silly with it in her new bathing suit. Jirou opened by using his ability to produce metal armor from his body, as well as a sword and what seemed to be a spool of wire of his own. Her previous assumption was correct- Jirou's ability was, in fact, useful for more than humorous baubles.

Yozora began by unfurling two of the hands from her belt, each one drawing a sword from The Eye- she held them up and in front of her, but kept them close to her body. Unsure of what to expect from the boy, she decided to take a defensive approach. She channeled chakra into the spool of wire on her side, just in case Jirou got too close.

C-rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals the user will focus chakra into a rope, wire, or a similar object in their possession. The object will then lash out at a target at [Control] Speed for up to 25 meters attempting to then coil around them and bind them. After coiling around the target, the chakra will cause the object to harden to [Control] Strength. After 4 posts the chakra will run out and the bind will break.

Jirou’s cocky expression turned worried the moment he saw the pair of arms come out of Yozora’s belt and draw swords from her back where no swords had been present mere moments before. Ninja were known for their tricks in combat, Jirou knew this, but this was his first time seeing it in person. He was already outgunned – well, outsworded – two to one. Three or four to one even, if she were to draw blades with her actual arms.

Jirou took off running, darting to his right, then back towards Yozora, spinning his wire out. When he was about nine meters away, he cast the wire out at 20 Strength, hoping to entrap (at least one of) Yozora’s legs and jerk the wire backwards at 20 Strength, hopefully knocking her to the ground and letting Jirou close the distance between them, pulling the wire back into his body as he went to keep it taut.

Yozora watched carefully as her new friend advanced on her quickly and aggressively, loosing a wire of his own creation and launching it at her legs. Using Many Hands, she quickly stabbed the sword held on her right side into the ground in front of her, into what she believed to be the path of Jirou's wire, using the strength of Many Hands to lift her off the ground and fling her towards her opponent in a front flip. As she did this, the Hand would loose its grip on the blade and leave it behind, while another Hand unfurled itself from the belt and drew another sword from The Eye. Based on the speed with which Jirou had thrown the wire, she could tell that he was quite strong- much stronger than her, at least. If it wasn't for the speed and strength of her Hands, which easily dwarfed her own physical attributes, she would have had no chance of avoiding Jirou's wire. Despite his comical demeanor, Jirou was already showing himself to be a quite capable warrior.

Yozora's intention was to pass over Jirou's head, swinging one of her swords down into the armor protruding from Jirou's armor at the shoulder. She swung the sword with 15 strength- her intention was not to injure Jirou but to test the strength of his armor. If she remained uninterrupted, she would continue to pass over her training partner to land about a meter behind him, her feet skidding slightly backwards the sand before coming to a full stop. Assuming that her blade would make contact, it would, of course, be met with a glancing ting! as it failed to break through Jirou's natural armor. She had to admit, she was quite impressed with the flexibility and strength of this ability of his. Good thing this was only a spar, and not a serious fight over a prized possession (foreshadowing!). She wondered- would the strength of Many Hands be enough to break through his armor?

She brought her swords back into a defensive stance in front of her as she launched the jutsu she had prepared, sending her wire from its spool at her side flying at Jirou's back with a speed of 13. Based on what she had seen of Jirou's capabilities thus far, she was fairly certain that he would be able to dodge the wire with ease or resist the strength of the jutsu if he chose not to. Ultimately, she could tell that her jutsu was wasted, but was curious as to how Jirou might respond to it. If she was really lucky, her sword would become tangled in Jirou's wire which she hoped would further complicate the situation in her favor. But one thing was certain: the funny boy in the fiery half-pants was a genuine trained fighter capable of putting her abilities to the test. Between his speed and natural armor, she would certainly not have an easy time keeping up with him.
