Mission Brief:Yoshinori unrolled the scroll as the messenger crow took off into the sky, its wings beating a quiet rhythm against the breeze. His eyes moved steadily over the mission details, half-hoping it would tie into their last assignment. Still, a part of him was relieved when it didn’t. After everything they’d seen, a less intense mission wasn’t unwelcome. For over a hundred years, the Kinkaku Monastery has served as both a spiritual and cultural landmark. Its bells ring every morning and evening without fail, an ancient ritual said to keep the mountain spirits calm and bring harmony to the surrounding villages.
However, the bells have not rung for five days. Locals are deeply unsettled. Birds have abandoned the area. Livestock are acting erratic. Some villagers claim to hear a strange humming sound at night in the wind where the bells used to echo.
The monastery is known to be peaceful and secluded, populated by a handful of monks dedicated to balance and spiritual preservation. Something is clearly wrong. Investigate and solve the cause of the disruption.
Shinobi Dispatched:
Tei, Yoshinori - Team AKM
Hyuuga, Tsuki - Team AKM
He packed quickly: a change of clothes, rations, and a few essentials. Out of habit more than sentiment, he added a pouch of tea leaves and a spare scarf—just in case. With everything secured, he headed for the village gate. Yoshinori took to the rooftops, moving at an easy pace. The familiar rhythm of travel helped him clear his head. When he reached the main gate, he landed atop the guardhouse with a soft thud.
“Oi! Off the roof!” came the predictable shouts from below. He laughed as he hopped down and offered a quick apology to the guards. They were used to him and others doing this after the years by now. He found a shaded spot under a tree just inside the gate and settled in. From one of his pockets, he pulled out a small bag of soft candies he'd picked up a few days ago. He tossed one into his mouth absentmindedly as he scanned the road.
His gaze drifted toward the path heading inside the village. He kept an eye out for Tsuki, her beauty always easy to spot. It would be good to see her again after a few quieter days. Missions were smoother when she was around, and he trusted her instincts as much as his own.
