A Summer Storm

:kumo:Arashiyama Raijin:kumo:

The sun had barely crested the horizon when Raijin began his climb into the mountains. The brisk air carried the scent of pine and damp earth, and the faint hum of his Ranton chakra rippled along his skin as he leapt from ledge to ledge. Above him, a sea of mist shrouded the peaks, and below, the valleys of the mountains of Cold Country weren't visible below the thick cloud cover. This far out, he could finally hear himself think--or, more importantly, stop thinking and start doing.

When he finally found the spot--a wide plateau surrounded by jagged cliffs and carpeted with moss and wildflowers--Raijin exhaled sharply, the faintest trail of neon blue chakra curling from his breath. The place was perfect: isolated, serene, and untouched. Here, he wouldn’t have to worry about prying eyes or holding back. The only witnesses would be the crags and the sky.

He dropped his pack near a boulder, stretching his arms over his head until his joints popped. “Alright, let’s do this,” he muttered. The words weren’t loud, but the dual-tone nature of his voice caused the sound to carry throughout the clearing. Raijin pulled out a scroll and unrolled it on the ground, a quick kai causing a puff of smoke to appear, only to clear away and reveal a training dummy in the rough size and shape of of a man.

The Genin hopped up from his crouched position and began bouncing from one foot to the other, shaking out his arms and rolling his neck as he did so, before planting his feet shoulder width apart and bringing his hands together in a Tiger seal.

"[Tempest Fist • Storm Veil]," he called out as his arms and legs began to blur ever so slightly, a bright glow of Ranton chakra roiling under his physical shell becoming momentarily visible as he activated the technique that he'd been working on for weeks now. If it worked properly, as he hoped it would, it would make his taijutsu that much more deadly--and an improvement on the Raikage's style could only make the most awesome results.

Raijin released his handseal and crouched low, cocking his fist back, and sprung upward in a twisting motion to connect with the dummy's chin in a textbook rendition of Lightning’s Shadow • Skyward, sending the straw dummy soaring two and a half meters up into the air. This time, however, the dummy was chased by 2 Ranton ribbons that chased it skyward, erupting from his shining blue fist. As the dummy reached its apex, the glowing blue-white ribbons caught up with their target and pierced directly through the straw arms, burning a hole through the burlap and causing the entire thing to crackle with vibrant plasma.

The young Genin leapt up with all his might, blurring into blue plasma for the intervening distance, before reappearing above the dummy with his hands interlocked. He brought them down onto the dummy, executing Lightning’s Shadow • Strikepoint. As he did so, another two Ranton ribbons chased after the dummy as he shouted, "[Tempest Fist • Storm Binding]!"

The two ribbons chased after their target at 15 {speed], catching it mid-fall and wrapping around both the dummy's limbs and torso to bind it as it slammed into the dirt and bounced up, allowing Raijin to land on its head with both feet as he fell back to the ground.

"Oh yeah! It worked! Yes, that's right, who's the man? It's Raijin," he said with a grin, doing a little dance on top of his training dummy. This was his best attempt yet--this style was going to be epic.

D-Rank Nintaijutsu Maneuver
For a number of posts equal to the user’s [Control]/5, Raijin's elemental body flares and reveals its true nature. Any taijutsu strikes performed by the user will have a number of Ranton ribbons equal to the practitioner’s [Strength]/2 erupt from their fist and track the target for up to 15 meters, aiming to pierce their limbs at [Control] strength and speed and apply the appropriate Ranton effect. If they pierce the limbs they will leave a 5 cm hole through both muscle and bone, leaving the limb inoperable until the wound is healed.

Lightning’s Shadow • Skyward
D-Rank Maneuver Taijutsu
Starting from a low position, the practitioner pushes upwards with his legs and rotates his core to create a high amount of torque while simultaneously moving his fist up towards an opponents chin or chest. This punch delivers a high amount of force capable of knocking people even slightly greater than his own strength off their footing. Those with less strength than him will actually be launched completely off their feet and into the air. For opponents weaker than the practitioner, for every point of strength he has over them they are sent flying 1/2 meter into the air.

Lightning’s Shadow • Strikepoint
D-Rank Maneuver Taijutsu
When a target is airborne and vulnerable, by leaping up in the air himself and locking both fists, the practitioner will overhead slam an opponent into the ground, hitting them with tremendous force. Beyond the impact of the initial blow, they will be sent hurtling down into the ground at a speed and strength equal to the practitioner's strength, bouncing off the ground and for a second impact and ending the the two-hit combo.

[Tempest Fist • Storm Binding]
D-Rank Nin/Tai Maneuver
When the practitioner makes a strike or attempts a grapple, they can cause a number of ribbons equal to the user’s [Strength]/2 to erupt from their form. These ribbons, each with a [Strength] and [Speed] equal to the user’s [Control], will chase the opponent for up to 15 meters. If they successfully ensnare the opponent, these ribbons will apply the appropriate Ranton effect based on the user’s [Control], and bind the target’s arms at [Control] strength.

A Summer Storm

Amaki, had been exploring the area surrounding the outpost the mountainous region nearby. The air was freezing, and in truth she still hadn't quite gotten used to the temperature here, the plus side was the heavy pine cover surrounding the mountains served to break up the wind. Unfortunately she wanted to climb the peaks that she would see from her warm window each day. The view would have to be gorgeous to say the least, and moreover, the quiet might be somewhat nice. Perhaps she would get some training done at the higher altitude, which always served as a challenge. She found herself at the foot of the mountain, her heavy jacket secure, and her kanabo hanging tightly from her back. She could hear the cold winds whistling through the peaks above, a reminder of the task she was about to undertake. She reached into a pocket pulled out a wrapped sweet roll, took a large bite, the returned it to its nestling place wrapped tightly. "Well, time to go," she said, her mouth full of bread and sugar, her body shivered as the wind rushed past her.

She gingerly walked up a small trail, if she was quick she would be able to enjoy a small breakfast near a flat peaks as the sun rose. A treat in itself to see such beauty first thing in the morning, and honestly one of her primary reasons for getting out of bed so early. She slowly climbed the trail till it ended, turning to the wall to begin a heavy climb up a cliffside. A dangerous task, but one that wasn't foreign to her after the climbing grand peaks around Kumo. Her biggest concern was a fall, if no one knew she was out here, a fall would prove fatal if she found any harm. She reached higher and higher, placing her hands on steady ledges, her heavy mass of iron pulling back on her shoulders as if to tell her to turn back, but she continued forward, or rather upwards. The height she sat at, put her deep into the cloud cover, when she found a ledge that spiraled up the side of the mountain. "Gah, what a climb," she said, drooping her harms down limp as she sighed, she hopped to find a flat wide surface to relax on soon.

She licked her lips the cold air quickly freezing and drying them as it brushed past her face, proving the act to be useless at the time. The wind echoed around her as she came to a dead end, the cliff above seemingly large and flat as well as facing the sun. "There, that looks perfect," she said boldly to herself. Amaki began climbing upwards, her arms having recovered, no longer felt like noodles. She brought her hand upwards, reaching onto the ledge and hoisting herself up, and instead of the orange glow of the cresting sun was met with the blue glow of a powerful chakra technique, as a young boy shouted his incoming attack on something. She hoisted herself upwards watching in envy as the boys skin glowed a bright neon blue. Her face lit up with envy as she saw the image that was engraving itself in her mind. She sat crisscross, as not to disturb what the boy was about to do, pulling out her roll to eat more as she watched.

The boy was small, and perhaps a few years younger than herself, his white hair stood out contrasting from his darker complexion. The plasma like energy crested under his skin, as he crouched bringing himself upward hitting a small dummy he had set up. The dummy flew up into the air, as two smaller strands of the energy the roiled around his fist shot outward at the poor straw man. It was extravagant alone, the way the straw crackled, and burnt back by the plasma strands, but the show wasn't over, the boy leapt into the air his body swiftly shooting up in a vision of pure plasma as he hit the body sending it spiraling back down onto the ground as quickly as it rose into the air. Amaki's eyes lit up as if she was watching some grand expedition, her face in awe at the techniques the young ninja use. Just before the straw dummy hit the ground however, the boy shouted his technique and two strands fired out, binding the dummy's limbs and torso as it slammed hard into the ground with him landing heavy on its head.

They boy sat patting himself on the back, for all his efforts, clearly it was progress made. He danced atop the training dummy, a big grin formed across his face. Amaki couldn't help it, she had to join in the show was great. She clapped her hands together in applause her face stuffed with the sweet roll. "Another one, do another one!" she said her speech muffled and slurred by her full mouth.

A Summer Storm

:kumo:Arashiyama Raijin:kumo:

Raijin froze mid-dance and let out a high-pitched eep, the rush of adrenaline suddenly replaced by the creeping realization that he wasn’t alone. His eyes darted toward the source of the voice--perched casually on the edge of the ledge, half a sweet roll stuffed in her mouth, was a girl. Clapping. Enthusiastically.

His face burned, not from exertion but sheer embarrassment. Even without blood, his brain--core? He wasn't really sure how that worked, but he could still visually show a blush--a darkening of his cheeks and a burning sensation accompanied by the crackling of static around his ears. He'd come out here so he could practice his techniques in secret--mostly so that he could surprise Akihiko-sensei with his moves during training and maybe not get tossed around like a ragdoll so much--and truly hadn't expected anyone to be this far out.

After a moment he managed to straighten up and let out a cough, hopefully disguising the sound he'd just made, and managed to get out, "Uh--well, y'know, I wasn't really expecting company."

The younger genin rubbed his nose with his thumb and turned away, doing his best to tone down the visible expression of embarrassment that had taken over his face once he realized there was someone else there. Still, despite the embarrassment, he felt a rush of pride from the way that she was praising his moves--he'd worked hard on those, and it felt good to have someone recognize his efforts. The wind howled between them, but it did little to stifle the energy crackling around his skin, faint remnants of his plasma dissipating into the thin mountain air. He glanced at the remains of the smoking dummy. "You liked that, huh?” he asked as his voice softened a bit, less guarded.

"Well ya know, I am pretty awesome. I guess I can show off a few other things I've been working on," he said with a grin, turning back to her and hopping off of the ruined remains of the straw dummy that was no longer crackling with energy and pulling out a second scroll. "Good thing I brought a few of these," he muttered as he rolled it out and formed a basic hand seal, letting out a silent kai that caused another such freestanding dummy to appear above it in a puff of smoke.

"Oh, uh, my name's Arashiyama Raijin, by the way, but you can call me Raijin if you want. What's your name?" he asked curiously as he picked up the dummy and moved it to a more central location on the plateau, giving the girl more room to dodge in case he messed anything up--he was good, but he was still learning how to control his power with these techniques, and he'd blasted parts of the landscape before by misjudging the amount of power he needed for a technique. This was usually followed by a long period of laying about and moaning as his body worked overtime to reconstitute itself from the massive over expenditure of Chakra, but that wasn't gonna happen here.

He hoped.

A Summer Storm

"Mhmmffmm," Amaki said as she gulped down another large bite of her sweet roll, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt I honestly didn't expect to find someone all the way up here," she kicked some of the dirt under her foot.

"I did really like it super flashy move, really strong, and you looked really cool while doing it," she said her eyes lit up by envy. Taijutsu was never Amaki's strong suit, something about being bruised and battered always left a bitter taste in her mouth. Another of her short commings, she supposed, but something she always found herself fascinated by. She watched as the boy threw out his scroll summoning another training dummy. Sadly something she never thought alot about, perhaps she would think further ahead in the future. "You have more than that?! Please show me more I wanna see," she practically begged to the boy.

Crackling energy still sizzled off the boys skin, she wasn't to sure what it was but found the boy to be odd, something she definitely could relate to. Afterall she was abit odd herself. She stood up as he introduced himself, shoving the rest of the roll into her mouth, and unclasping her iron kanabo as it panged hard falling over on the ground. Raijin, what an odd name, I feel like i know that name from somewhere, she thought to herself. Recalling names and stories was hard for her, but she was sure the name would return. "My name is Senkuma Amaki, Amaki or Ina if you want tho," she spouted, as she finished swallowing her food. "what's that style your using, I don't think I've ever heard of it before?," she said as she stretched a bit watching the sun slowly rise beyond the horizon.

"Honestly, I'm a bit embarrassed to say it but I'm not to great with taijutsu," she scratched the side of her head ashamed, the boy looked really strong even for his stature.

A Summer Storm

Raijin scratched the back of his head, small sparks shooting off of his ears in embarrassment at Amaki’s enthusiasm. “Ah, really? You think so? Thanks! I’m still working on it, though,” he explained as his grin widened, sheepish but genuine, and a faint crackle of electricity sparked at his fingertips before fading away. “It’s not perfect yet, but, uh, I can show you more if you want! Always good to get in more practice.

He stepped back, giving her a bit of space as she introduced herself and hefted the heavy kanabo. His eyes lingered on the weapon for a moment, his curiosity piqued. ““Whoa, that thing’s serious! Bet you pack a mean punch with it. Taijutsu’s kinda my thing, I guess, but if you’re carrying that around, I bet you’re stronger than you think,” he said confidently as he finished setting up his straw dummy in an upright position, something that required careful balancing. Honestly, he was glad someone outside his team was giving him feedback about his techniques.

It wasn't often that he got a chance to interact with the other genin here in Cold Country. Akihiko-sensei had him training hard, and he was training these techniques in secret to impress the excitable jounin when he finally unveiled everything he'd been working on. The young boy backed up from his target, about 13 meters, and began shaking out his arms instinctually. There was no physical need to loosen up, not when his body was made of pure energy, but the physical motions brought him some comfort and made him feel human.

Oh, yeah, you wouldn't have seen these before, I made 'em," he said proudly as he stepped back, hopping from one foot to the other while he concentrated on the feel of the flow of his chakra. “I call it the [Tempest Fist] style, and I'm the only one in the world that can pull it off, ya know. Like this one: [Tempest Fist • Storm Whip]," he called out as he flung his arm forward and it stretched, forming into a whip of glowing blue Ranton Chakra that crossed the distance and wrapped around the waist of the dummy, dragging it towards him. The whip quickly retracted and reformed into his arm, allowing him to spin into a back kick as he shouted out, “[Tempest Fist • Thunderbolt Reverie]!"

When his foot connected, a crackling surge of seven ribbons punched a hole clean through the dummy, leaving five centimeter holes in a circular pattern that essentially formed a punch hole in the target. The dummy fell to the ground, glowing blue plasma crackling across its surface as the hole in its torso smoldered and began to lightly burn.

Oh sweet, that worked!" he said with a broad grin, pumping his fist in excitement as he came back to a standing position. “I've been working on that one for a while, I could never get the pattern for the ribbons just right. What do you think, huh Amaki-san?" he asked, turning towards the unexpected interloper that had happened upon his training.
OOCShow
[Tempest Fist • Storm Whip]
D-Rank Nintaijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner uses their Ranton nature to extend their arm up to 15 meters in a whip-like ribbon of plasma, aiming to wrap around the target and apply the appropriate Ranton effect at [Control] Strength. If the wrapping is successful, the practitioner can pull the target towards themselves at [Control] Strength. If the user’s [Control] is greater than the target’s [Strength] by 5 or more, the target is lifted off their feet and sent hurtling towards the user.

[Tempest Fist • Thunderbolt Reverie]
D-Rank Nintaijutsu Maneuver
The practitioner focuses his Ranton chakra into his limbs prior to throwing a punch or a kick, and upon landing a strike, the chakra surges into the area of contact, which splits into a number of ribbons equal to the user’s [Strength]/2, which pierce the target at [Control] Strength at the point of contact, applying the appropriate Ranton effect. These ribbons will each leave a 5cm hole in the target if this maneuver is successful in an equidistant circular pattern.

A Summer Storm

Amaki blushed a bit as the boy commented about her own strength, even if it weren't exactly the truth. It was rare that she ever truly swung the kanabo without the aid of jikiton techniques, even still the fact she swung the chunk of iron at all without dislocating a shoulder was a surprise for most. "It does pack a mean punch that's for sure, I just let gravity do its thing," Amaki said with a shy chuckle.

She channeled chakra into her hand as the purple lightning began to ark across her finger tips, and in an instant the kanabo shot up to her hand. She used the momentum of its movements to spin it up and over her head in a wide arc before slamming it down in front of her to lean against, resting her chin on the pommel, as she talked idly to the boy. "If nothing else, it would always serve well for a neat street performance," she blurted out in a nonchalant manner. She was enamored by the boys excitement to show his moves, in fact other, than her fellow teammates this was the first time she met a genin outside of team 11, and honestly relaxing to have someone with as much energy as she had.

She watched as he whipped his arm outward and it extended into a long glowing blue whip, she had to blink twice to gather what was fully happening. It wrapped around the training dummy yanking it closer to him as he back kicked off it sending more of the blue ribbons of chakra flying off it. Amaki in a gaze of awe stared at his arm as it retracted back to a normal appendage. "You made that technique all on your own? How did you do that, what inspired you? Why can you only do it? How did you morph your arm like that?," she spouted off the questions as quickly as they came, her eyes sparkled as she awaited the answers. No doubt seemingly an overwhelming barrage of questions, but she couldn't contain herself.

"Err, uhm... I mean, thats really impressive you've created something so intricate," she said recollecting herself suddenly worried she would be to much. "So is it still a work in progress then?" she said in a gleeful tune, "I'd love to help if you need it,".
