The weather wasn’t great in the river country today, slight wind, quite cold and the rain was pouring down which meant the surface was very moody. Darma, the trader the pair had been hired to protect was stood in the center of a small village stroking the horse that was attached to the cart. All they simply had to do was introduce themselves, and perhaps introduce themselves to one another first.

The river country: it was a long trek from where he first started in Konoha. To have made it this far and to have not died at this point was a miracle in his mind. He was but a lowly Genin when he started; well, he technically still was, but that was besides the point. At this current point in time, he was taking on his first C-Rank mission, and for the first time in a while, it wasn't alone. Gai had been told by the mission requester that he would be with another person--he wondered what he or she was like. More so if he could manipulate them into doing more of the work. But that was all in the back of his mind as he walked toward the center of the village.

His name wasn't Gai, as far as anybody else was concerned. Today... Today, it's,

"Hi, my name is Ikuto," he said with a beaming smile as he put out his hand to shake the trader's hand. He didn't quite seem like a nukenin at this point; not a speck of evil or even guilt had shown on his face, just happiness. Almost as if he were some one who was content with the lifestyle of a villager. At any rate, everyone knew at least that much was false, but the fact that he was happy was nothing out of the common.

She had probably been here before, but she couldn't tell. It had been quite some time since she was out on the road and she lost track of where she had been to. She remembered Frost Country well enough as well as Tea. Plenty had she gone through in both places to not forget them. River Country seemed a distant memory and the weather did not help her mood. She would be in all kinds of trouble and she could only hope that the other person was useful.

Sayuri walked at a calm pace, not at all bothered by any of the villagers. Truthfully, she was always like that, distant and detached. She spotted the cart, the man with the horse, and what was likely her partner for the mission. She had almost passed him off as some pretty boy, but she had learned long ago not to judge so hastily. When he spoke, his deep voice gave his name and her mind began to wonder if she should use her real name or a made up one.

"Siana," She gave as her name as she joined the small group, the introduction aimed at both of them. She wasted little time in getting to the point, "Whenever everyone is ready, we may go." She was curious about her partner and his abilities, but she imagined that before this was over, they would both get to see plenty of each other.

The trader took the young mans hand “Pleasure, my names Tora.” He said with a large grin and then went to the girl and shook her hand. They quite weren’t what he was expecting not from missing ninja, but they seemed polite. Though the writer of this mission wondered how Gai had come up with such an interesting name, perhaps the writer should hide his signature from now on.

“Mhhmm, I’m ready to go now unless you two aren’t?” he asked, petting his horse and jumped on the cart. Assuming everything was ready the trio set off “I’m sorry you can’t ride on the cart but the horse can’t carry me and all this gold.” He whispered the last part with a gleam in his eye.

Gai nodded playfully at the man as he turned to his partner. "Hi, Siana-san! Pleasure to work with you." He nodded again but this time at the girl in front of them. As the man gestured for them to leave and told them of the gold, Gai gave him a big thumbs up as he cracked his knuckles and prepared his mind to leave and to protect the gold.

It was all acting, the playfulness and politeness. He had no choice, though.

"I'm ready," She replied as her partner for the mission introduced himself to her. He appeared to be overly happy and she figured he was some green horn on his first adventure. That or quite the actor, she had seen those too. She earnestly did not care. So long as they worked fine and got the job done, she was content. She gave him a nod and grin to play along and with that, they were on their way.

They had to protect the man and his belongings. She had the right jutsu for the job, even if the weather wasn't on her side. To that, she hoped the over-energetic young man would come in handy. She wondered what style and techniques he used, but her eyes remained on the road. Ahead, to the sides, and even above. Danger could come from anywhere but she would try not to let it take them unawares.

The cart moved through the mud, the trader yawned loudly on top as the horse neighed ever so slightly. Unfortuantly the mud was getting thicker and thicker, so thick the cart got stuck on the mile long path. He pulled on the reigns but the horse couldn’t pull the cart out “Well damn.” He yelled loudly as he jumped down, splashing into the wet mud. The rain poured and poured down on the trio, he pointed to it “Help me get this out of this flipping mud.”

Gai looked up at the rain and back down at the wheels of the wagon. He acted as quickly as he could so that he wouldn't have to deal with a bigger mess than it already was. He grabbed a kunai from a pouch before he started to dig out in front of some of the back wheels. The way he was digging was in a manner that he would create a soft ramp instead of making the carriage go deeper into the mud.

The first problem and it wasn't an attack. At least she was grateful for that, but the stuck cart would be a hassle. Ikuto got to work quickly, using a dagger to create some kind of path, a ramp, for the wheel to go up. That meant someone needed to push and she doubted very much it would be the man they were to protect. She was the only one not doing anything, so she imagined it would be her. She positioned herself behind the cart and gave it as best a shove as she could. She could fight hand to hand and even with her spear, but she wasn't exactly super strong.

*sighs* why did you guys have to use fake names? Its confusing me to write. WELL DONE!

The mud started to come free from the wheels as the man who was calling himself Ikuto cut away with his kunai, and Siana the other fictional name given was pushing the cart. The trader pulled on the reins trying to make the horse go forward it pulled the cart and it started to move. But *squelch* the horses hooves got stuck in the mud. It jerked and yanked making it worse. The trader sighed loudly “Well we can’t get anywhere without the horse.”

To be fair I don't really know, its a wooden cart filled with gold. So pretty damn heavy. Concentrate on the horse, get the horse out and the gold gets free.

Sorry for the delay.

As Gai began digging out, he noticed that the horse began sinking into the mud. There was an easy solution: reduce the weight that the horse was pulling. He hoped that his client wouldn't mind as he took a bag of gold, which was quite heavy, and proceeded to attempt to help pull the horse out of the mud. He hoped that the girl with him would do the same.

Sayuri stopped her pushing, which was going nowhere anyways. Another problem had arisen. The horse was sinking into the mud as she cursed the damn wet soil. Her techniques would have been useful, but alas they would have to resort to other tactics. Ikuto began to take some of the gold. Well, she could see the sense of it. Remove the gold to get the cart going and then add it back on once they were free. Hopefully the man wouldn't throw a bitch fit about them touching the sacks, but she opted to help the young man in relieving the horse of some stress. She made sure to stand next to the bags in the off chance, but hoped the horse would get going. If this worked, she would then swiftly work on placing the bags back on the cart so they could move along.

Sorry for the delay!

The pair had the right idea, as they began to lift bags of gold the horse pulled itself free from the mud. The trader watched them, his eyes narrowing making sure they didn’t steel any. Just as quickly as the horse was free from the mud, the rain stopped as though by magic. The heavens opened and the sun came pouring down, soon enough the wet mud we be dried up. “Put the gold back on and we’ll get going.” The firmer said this firmly and perhaps a little aggressively.

It was great that the sun came out, and as the merchant snapped at Gai, Gai quickly put the bag back into the cart. "Sorry, merchant-chan~" He smiled happily at the merchant and began to walk just a bit ahead of the horse, as if he was impatient, even though he was not.

Sayuri ignored his tone when ordered to place the gold back on the cart. She had already planned to do that once the horse was free and the cart moving, both of which were taking place. She quickly loaded the gold back unto the cart, eager to get the parade going to its destination. At the least the rain had stopped, something she was truly glad for.

The trader instantly regretted his tone, it was apparent these missing ninja showed him no ill will and were committed to passing this mission and helping him get across the trade route “I’m sorry.” He croaked out, his face an instant flush of red in embarrassment. Who could blame him for being suspicious? Missing nin, were still missing nin and are usually dark within nature. He pulled on the reins as the horse started to go a little faster certainly so fast they would have to run.

A twig within the surrounding trees snapped and a growling sound could be heard as two pale eyes just above knee height could be seen. The horse brought it’s legs high up in the air and it’s nostrils flared and the horse charged forward knocking the trader off the cart and the horse was sprinting down the road as fast as it could “Get the horse!” he yelled, then the eyes got larger, a wolf appeared growling at the trader, he pulled out a small knife swinging it through the air trying to scare the beast to no avail.

As soon as the disaster had occurred, there was no time to think, only to act. Seeing as he would have more of a chance getting rid of the wolf, he motioned for the girl he knew as Siana to chase after the horse as he quickly drew his ninjato and leapt forward between the trader and the canine.

Siana rolled her eyes at the distribution of jobs. Once again she had been sent on the task which made least use of her abilities. Reluctantly, she went after the horse, knowing she was likely not to catch up to it anyways. Using a jutsu would help, but the ones she had were likely to hurt it and her cause instead of help. She trekked after the horse as fast as she could.

"Come here horsie!" She called out with little enthusiasm. At the very least, she would keep it within her sight and stay behind it as long as possible. If she did manage to catch up, she would attempt to steer it back to its owner.

The horse continued to run away, it’s speed picking up in fear she needed to stop it soon or it would be gone and the mission would be failed, without the horse they had no goods, without the goods they had no mission “STOP THE DAMN HORSE!” the trader screamed loudly in annoyance, he’d certainly have to dock this girls payment if she wasn’t going to put the effort in. The wolf growled, salivating it crept forward glaring at the man who dare stood infront of his target, it leaped forward chomping it’s jaw down towards his wrist.

The situation had grown dire. The horse in the loose and the trader under attack. She clasped her hands together to perform seals while attempting to follow after the horse. She needed to get control over everything or risk it all falling apart and losing. Her first order of business was the man and the wolf attacking him. Her signs complete and a deep breath drawn, she blew out a ball of salt which flew directly aimed between the wolf and the trader. She hoped to nail it mid lunge but if it flew before it, hopefully the salt ball would lure the creature away from the man and towards her. With that done, she put more effort into catching up to the horse. She still doubted she could, but she went for it either way, she had to try. Should she catch up, she would attempt to call out to the horse, pat it's side softly and if it yielded, guide it back by the reins to the trader. She'd come back with her spear in her other hand, ready to give the wolf a good poking.

The wolf unfortunately caught hold of Gai’s arm, taking a nice big chunk swiping him with his claws. Gai slipped unconscious almost immediately and the attack from the young lady missed, however she’d managed to stop the horse and was coming towards the wolf with her spear. It let go of Gai and stormed forward snapping its teeth at her, it pushed hard off the ground, leaping forward aiming right for her neck.
