The Shores of Coincidence

Post by The Legend Excalibur » Thu May 10, 2018 5:48 pm

The salty air of the sea was carried through the open doorway of the hostel, giving it's patrons and workers a taste of the outside. It was a minor, minute thing. You'd have to be aware that it was even in the air to taste it. But for the sailors and fishermen that occupied the two story building, it gave them comfort. It was past noon, meaning the lunch rush had given way to drinking and revelry for those who had just come off shifts from work, or were simply on breaks. The atmosphere within the place was becoming charged with activity, joking and loud talking taking place nearly everywhere. Nearly.

In the small corner of the first floor, where the bar was located, Tetsu sat alone, his back against the wall and one of his legs resting in a seat opposite to him. He nursed a simple brew, a alcoholic drink fermented from one of the many fruits the country grew. Some type of cider, he recalled. With his recent string of jobs in Pebble Country and Rice Country, he'd decided it would do some good to do some work along the coast, or on one of the minor nations that resided in the sea. He'd been becoming to known among the people inland, and needed to disappear a while. Not for too long, though, he didn't want his reputation to completely shrivel.

He took a sip from his cup. It was surprisingly sweet, but a had some kind of bubbly kick to it. It was decent, he had to give them that. Idly glancing around the bar, he'd caught more than a few side eye glares and looks. It was obvious from how he was dressed that he was some kind of mercenary, though any identifying markers were hidden from view, like his forehead protector, or his ring, which he'd put on a necklace around his neck. He wore a simple tunic vest, instead of foregoing upper body clothing, as he usually did when travelling. Didn't want too much attention, yet.

He was brought from his observations by the arrival of a server, asking if he wanted anything to eat. "Ah, some yaki dango, if you make it." The server nodded in affirmation, and left to carry deliver the order, leaving Tetsu again by himself.

Kaisui

It had been a long 3 months of sailing as Kaisui and the crew had fled from the land of water. As much as Kaisui had wanted to live an honest life as a fisherman, his experiences in the land of water taught him that it'd be impossible. With him constantly being hunted by shinobi and his unusual build, it'd be impossible to just stay under the radar. As such after much discussion Umiko had pulled him into the idea of piracy.

Ichiro had been against it at first until they agreed to target richer merchants and reinvest some of the money in the poorer communities. While Kaisui wasn't overly thrilled with the idea it made use of his skills and it'd be a way to make a decent living. However he was now facing a problem. It was hard enough sailing such a large ship with only 3 people let alone trying to be pirates. He had talked with the others and told them they'd have to hire some more hands if they wanted to make this work.

So pulling into this port City in the land of tea was an opportunity as well as a gamble. It was well known that the land of tea had very good relationship with the land of fire, namely for their trade. He couldn't openly announce he was a pirate or that he was a rogue shinobi. They'd have to be careful about who they talked to and invited. After docking the ship he payed the harbor master for a few days of leaving the ship in his port then headed into town Umiko sitting on his shoulders and Ichiro walking beside him. He wanted everyone to stick together to avoid trouble. He led them towards a decent hostel that the harbor master had recommended.

Upon arriving at the front door Umiko would drop down and as they entered Kaisui would look left while Umiko would look right. It was something that had been well practiced, that it happened on reflex. His eyes would scan the room looking for potential allies and threats. His eyes would pause over the merchant in the corner. There was something that screamed danger in Kaisui's head, despite the man's relaxed attitude and demeanor.

Kaisui would guide the crew over towards a seat close to the stairs taking a table with chairs instead of a booth. He'd ignore the glances at him, used to his massive size drawing attention, but he'd dead eye anyone who gave Umiko an inappropriate look. He wasn't about to let anyone mess with his little sister. The waiter would come over and ask of there was anything he could get them. "We'd like two rooms for three days. As for food I'll take the cooks specialty if it's available and to drink get me a bottle of rum. She can have whatever she wants to eat but no alcohol for her drink." With that he'd look at the others as he waited for them to order. He'd roll his eyes at Umiko as she complained about him not letting her drink. After they ordered he'd look at them curiously. "Anyone stick out to you guys? Anyone you think we could add to the crew? Remember we have plenty of money. Pay isn't a problem."

Umiko

She was sick of the sea and happy to be on land again. Kaisui had been driving her nuts with the nonstop sailing. He kept going on about this creepy ass skeleton person. Even worse he'd stepped up the training regime as if they were gonna be fighting this huge battle she just didn't understand. She was tired and ready for a break. When she first hopped on solid ground she had a bit of trouble walking it'd been so long since they came to port. She climbed up on Oniichan's shoulders and sat happily looking down below.

She'd scan the area as she adjusted to being on land again. As Kaisui paid the harbor master she'd peek into his hut and see a locked box making notes to sneak back later.the in the harbor master had recommended wasn't far and so her ride over way before she would've liked it to. She begrudgingly slid down his back looking to the right. She looked over the people and labelled them according how big of a mark they'd be their danger rating and anything else she thought was useful. She also smiled when she saw the server was a guy and not a woman.

As she sat at the table she stopped and thought about what she wanted to eat right up until Kaisui said no alcohol. She'd pout and kick his shin for treating her like a child. "Apple juice and 3 steamed meat buns please." she'd smile at the waiter before focusing in on Kaisui's question. "Hmmm there's a couple of people here I'm sure there's at least one or two people that know their way around a ship in here. It all depends on what elseyou need. Do you want a fighter so we can do raids or strictly sailing help?" She'd give a fair response that would surprise a few people considering her young age.

It was often difficult to believe so much time had passed since Ichiro had first met Kaisui and Umiko and yet after 3 months of sailing with the pair he had come to think of them as close friends, practically extended family really. Adapting to the life of a sailor and then the transition to pirate was not something Ichiro would have ever anticipated doing and yet as usual the young man displayed a remarkable ability to adapt. From growing up in a farming community that did its fair share of fishing on the side to becoming a full-fledged sea voyager, Ichiro now felt just as comfortable on a ship as dry land, possibly more so in fact. He had grown a little, developed a bit of stubble and slightly longer and messier hair as well as developed a bit of muscle to his previously frail form, though he was still slim he was at least visibly athletic now. His gait to had shifted, become more confident with wider strides. He had abandoned any furs from his wardrobe and fully embraced various leather straps securing his weapons and often wore his clothes more loosely fitting, even exposing his chest a bit rather than keeping his haori neatly tied and immaculately maintained as he used to.

Visiting the land of Tea was an exciting and risky venture. Ever a student of the medicinal arts, Ichiro was overjoyed at the prospect of stocking up on the various herbs the land was known for. Many types of tea leaves could be utilized for medicinal brews or even ground into various poultices to fight off infection. Not too mention Ichiro simply enjoyed tea thoroughly and had been largely deprived of the substance in their months at sea. He had even taken to enjoying rum as a very unorthodox substitute. There was a more pressing reason for their docking here of course and that was recruitment. In the land of Tea there were sure to be skilled fighters and typically more trustworthy sorts that wouldn’t betray their own as the folks of Water country oft opted to do. The cost of that however was that most would be either strict in their morals or already a part of a rival crew or lucrative gang. There was also the chance they might run into Konoha shinobi stationed in the area or in the country for business. Detecting such dangerous individuals and steering clear of them would be among Ichiro’s primary objectives as he was typically regarded as the most observant of the three.

As the group entered the building they would each scan the room. Ichiro would look straight ahead, scanning the angles to either side out of his peripherals as his allies covered his blind spots. He would also note all available reflective surfaces, keeping tabs on such utilities so that he could occasionally check behind the group and make sure nobody was following them or getting too close. Ichiro sat quietly, “I’ll have the same” he said simply after Kaisui ordered. He knew he wouldn’t drink nearly as much rum as his companion, there was no competition between the two and their tolerance though Ichiro wasn’t quite as much of a lightweight as he had been 3 months ago. It still boggled his mind to know that Kaisui was only older than him by about half a year. Ichiro barely looked his own age, just a few weeks shy of 17, whereas Kaisui easily looked like he was in his mid to late twenties.

As Kaisui inquired about potential recruits, Ichiro looked down at the table, closing his eyes as his near perfect memory recalled all the individuals he spotted upon entering the room. “There are at least a dozen sailors, probably only a handful that could be swayed away from their current crews however. I also spotted a few shady looking characters, their group eyed you up since we walked in, they seem to me the type to be more involved in underground dealings than our line of work however. If you’re looking for muscle though then I’m sure you spotted the loner in the corner. Typical mercenary behaviour, sitting in the most protected area with the best vantage point. He’ll be dangerous certainly but would likely come around the easiest for the right price.” The young man assessed, opening his eyes as he finished speaking in a low, even tone. Luckily, he hadn’t spotted anyone that seemed to stick out as a Konoha shinobi or tea Country Samurai, those would be the last types of people one would want to come across but one could never be too sure and there was always the chance that the man in the corner was actually one such individual.

The entrance of the the peculiar group of three would not only catch Tetsu's eye, but the glances of others around the room as well, and for good reason. First and foremost was the giant among them, the man easily reaching seven feet in height, towering over Tetsu himself. Though by the look of his facial features made him seem no older than about 20. Beside him was another young man, who looked similar in age, but was dwarfed in height, and a little girl. Peculiar indeed. He watched with slight interest as the group found seats. They weren't wet behind the ears, he'd give them that. Their entrance had been coordinated, as each took a direction to scan and observe. Hell, the shorter guy was still looking around the place.

He'd catch one or both of their glances, not looking away as their sights met, before they would turn away. "Here you are sir." His server had returned with his yaki dango, the rice cakes still steaming on their skewers, drenched in some kind of brown sauce. Brown sugar syrup, as he'd come to discover after trying one of them. They actually went well with his cider drink, which he'd order a second round of. He ate and drank without much concern for anyone else or what was happening in the bar, though he was still aware of his surroundings.

Kaisui

Kaisui would take his crew's suggestions into consideration as he thought. While he was thinking the waiter would return with their drinks. He had brought a fairly large mug that was only filled about half way for Kaisui to drink out of. He'd lean back a bit in the chair and take a swing straight from the glass; the spiced, dark golden liquid burning it's way down his throat.

He'd set the mug down and glance around the room. His eyes glancing over the merc in the corner as he considered his options, fighter or sailor. He'd take another sip as he thought before looking at Ichiro. "Alright he may be the easiest hand to hire him being a merchant, and it's easier to teach someone to sail than it is to make them a seasoned fighter. Just know we may invite trouble upon ourselves if we hire him. He clearly knows how to fight and is much more experienced at it than you... Or me for that matter. My guess is he's either a independent fighter or a Shinobi. As to whether or not he still answers to a village that's debatable. I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you either way.

He'd put his thoughts out before taking another sip of the rum. Many people watching would caution him against drinking so much due to his apparent age. However, Kaisui had a rather extensive drinking record courtesy of the old fisherman from his hometown. On top of that his large body gave him a natural tolerance and he could safely say aloud that he could drink most men under the table without being a braggart. It was something he prided himself in and when ever he found a good supply of rum he'd end up buying a few barrels full to take with him. Especially now that he had a full sized ship you could guarantee he'd have decent supply on board.

He'd lick his lips before looking at Ichiro with an extremely serious face. "I swear on the gods if you let me leave here without stocking up and buying at least three barrels of this rum before we leave; I'm going to maroon you on an island for 3 weeks without any of your books that you're always reading from." He'd hold the serious face with what would appear to be a bit of killing intent mixed in before finally cracking a smile and laughing. Anyone that didn't know him would probably have thought he actually planned to kill the man across from him. He'd go to take another sip of his rum, putting the glass to his mouth and tilting the base up to the ceiling only to realize the damn thing was empty. He'd already finished off his first 1/2 a glass which would be about 4 shots worth of rum. A sadden look would come over him as he set the glass down. "Ichiro my friend tell me.... Why is the rum always gone?"

The waiter clearly hearing Kaisui's words would come back over and ask if he'd like a refill. Kaisui would shake his head before responding. "No I won't drink anymore straight rum need to be at least a little coherent I do have business to attend to tonight. Instead if you wouldn't mind filling this puppy up with some Bumbo would be much appreciated." The waiter would nod before taking off to the back room. He'd return with a new glass and the trios food.

Umiko

Umiko would smile happily as she sipped her juice the drink holding off the hunger in her belly a bit. The feeling wouldn't last however and she'd shiver thinking about the possibility of the merc being a Shinobi. Kaisui's tale of his run in with a Kiri nin had left her horrified. Thinking they could all encounter it together and die tragically had left her pale faced and worried. She'd continuously glance over at the merc on edge and nervous.

Her anxiety would progressively get worse as Ichiro and Kaisui talked, her mind following potential futures in which they all die in horrid tragic ways. She's finally returned to reality by the sound of Kaisui's laugh. Finding comfort in the familiar sound his laughter and voice seems to ground her and allow her to calm down. She leans against the giant thankful her little panic attack went unnoticed.

Umiko would purse her lips before speaking. She'd thought carefully as she didn't want them to think her a coward, but she still wanted to express her concern about getting caught. "Eh Kaisui you just had a run in with Kirigakure nin are you sure you want to take a chance on that man not being a nin? It could be ricsky we might all end up dead. Ichiro what do you think?" She'd look back and forth between the two as the food was delivered. She'd begin to chow down on the food letting it distract her from her fears if only a little.

Tetsu quite enjoyed his meal. It'd been some time since he'd had a what he considered a treat like this, and been able to enjoy it. Usually he'd order food that had a long shelf life, like crackers, or salted meat such as pork or beef. He admitted to himself that the diet, though efficient, got bland after weeks and weeks of it. And so he secretly took a little comfort in being able to sit and eat like this. Besides the yaki dango, he'd also ordered meat skewers, which included well done beef cutlets kebabed through a thin wooden stave, and coated in a layer of gravy.

He was on his second round of food and third round of cider when he noticed look the giants face. Judging by his cup, he could've been drunk, and it seemed the shorter boy had slighted him. He could see cold glare laid bare on their face, and wondered if he would have to cut this little dinner short and leave, before a fight broke out. To Tetsu's slight surprise though, the giant let out a wily and hearty laugh, revealing the glare to be some kind of joke.

Returning to his food, he'd also notice between bites the little girl in the trio constantly looking over in his direction. She looked nervous, scared even. Why was that. She didn't even looked fazed by being in the bar, so why was she reacting this way towards him? Did she recognize him somehow? Not likely. Did she... hmm. She would catch him watching her and her table, his stare unconcerned and cold. When she saw him reach over on his own table to retrieve something, she thought she would see the glint of metal at his waste, in the shape that resembled a forehead protector.

Kaisui

Kaisui would notice the man's stare in the corner and how it was bothering Umiko. As such without waiting for Ichiro's input, the giant man decided to strike up a conversation on his own. Partially to put everything out in the open. If the man was gonna hunt them he'd prefer to confront him now rather than wait for his throat to be slit in his sleep.

He'd get a second order of Bumbo from the bar and move to sit with the mercenary. He'd slide the pint across the table to the merc, whether he accepted it or not wasn't Kaisui's concern at the moment. "Hello there friend. Judging from your alertness towards me and mine, I'm going to assume a few things. Id appreciate if you let me finish what I have to say before jumping to any conclusions. One you've been hunted or chased or are afraid of being chased. After all you took the seat I would've had it been open. Best view and vantage point of the room. Secondly, you probably are looking for some kind of employment. Most people have a hard time making coin while on the run. If my assumptions are correct... I'd like to hire you on to my crew.""

Although out right saying his observations and assumptions out right to the man Kaisui wasn't one to be around the bush especially when it came to business. He'd take a sip of his bumbo and look at the mercenary. "Now I don't care who's after you or why, but joining my crew will have it's benefits. Steady supply of coin, plenty of food, and most importantly you'll be harder to track if you're on a ship. It's why I stay by the coast or on open water. On land you leave tracks no matter how careful you are. If your on a ship they have no way of knowing your next destination,so once you're on board you'll have lost them."

Kaisui would stop speaking and let the man think. He'd lean back in his seat and glance over towards Ichiro and Umiko. He'd smile as Umiko came over and nervously sat down next to him her eyes alert.

The Shores of Coincidence

Post by Izanagi » Sun Jun 10, 2018 4:57 pm

Ichiro nodded at his leaders reasoning. He had to agree, picking up sailing hadn’t taken too long, all things considering but he was still quite weak in terms of fighting. Having someone of any real strength join their crew would be a tremendous asset and would perhaps be the push they needed to become stronger themselves. That was assuming this man was stronger than the three of them at least. It was difficult to tell for certain though it did seem likely. Certainly, he wanted to find out. “Agreed” the young man stated simply.

The lithe looking waterfall country native turned sailor, slowly sipped at his glass of rum. He appreciated the taste, though he could feel its effects taking place even from just a few sips. It was enough to relax him a little and give him a slight but pleasant tingle. The young man enjoyed experimenting with different flavors, tasting each of the various stocks that Kaisu had purchased over the last few months. Rum which was rich and dark with a complex flavor pallet tended to be his preference. Drinking for him was not about getting drunk but rather enjoying the various intricate flavors that alcohol had. Of course he wasn’t opposed to the pleasant feelings that came along with it but he also knew that there were repercussions for drinking too much and had on a number of occasions gotten himself sick drinking too much, thinking his body could handle more than it could.

The dark-haired youth’s eyes widened as Kaisui threatened his books. There was a moment of tension before Ichiro laughed nervously, building into a genuine soft chuckle and a slight smile as the hostile aura diminished. “You got it!” he affirmed. Ichiro smirked wryly, a somewhat rare display from the usually reserved teenager, “That would be on account of you drinking like a fish” he teased, his statement a common expression yet also one that alluded to Kaisui’s special traits. He had yet to actually see his full transformation, but he had noticed enough to observe that he required the Oceans embrace on a daily basis and seemed more energized whenever he emerged from the water. There had to be something more than coincidence or a sailor’s habit to it.

The teenager’s eyes lit up as food emerged. He never liked to drink too much on an empty stomach and still had about half of his allotted rum remaining, roughly a quarter of the mug he had been given. His stomach rumbled, he hadn’t realized how hungry he had actually been and the smell of the steaming fresh seafood was enough to make his mouth water. After taking several bites of food and sating his appetite a little, Ichiro would look to Umiko and address her concerns. “I did some research on this country before we docked here. Its not a shinobi nation but it is protected by one, the land of Fire to be precise. It would be quite a big risk for a Kirigakure ninja to follow us all the way here, it could create an international incident if they were to be spotted, they’d be driven out much the same way we were back in Water Country but traders and travellers such as us should be free to do business. By all accounts we should be safe here but it never hurts to err on the side of caution” he explained, going on a little too long and expressing his careful planning and wide array of knowledge once more. He forced a reassuring smile before continuing to eat.

As he ate he would notice the glint of metal as the man in the corner reached to something and instinctively he pushed his chair back slightly, opening up his range of motion and creating an escape route as he shifted his angle slightly. One hand retracted to the edge of the table, directly above the sheath of his sword while his other held the knife he had been eating with. It could be used as a throwing weapon of in close quarters until he could draw his sword but he wasn’t about to start a fight if he could help it, only be ready should that be the direction that was about to be taken. “Kaisui” he stated in warning, his tone enough indication that one should be on guard. Of course he could already tell the man had sensed the change in atmosphere and had soon begun to take the intiative, standing and moving to sit with the man in the corner. Ichiro would exchange a look with Umiko, uncertain of what to do. Should he remain where he was and trust the large man to handle this situation? Or move in as backup?

For the time being he decided to finish up his meal, watching carefully as he did. He wasn’t about to put good food to waste and if things took a turn for the worst they would have to depart quickly, possibly without even paying. He would need all the energy he could get if that was the case. As Umiko stood to go and join the others so would Ichiro, bringing with him the mug of rum but leaving his mostly empty plate of food. The rum would serve as a good distraction, easy to splash in one’s face or simply keep his hands busy throughout the tense conversation.

He'd watch as the one of the three, the giant, made his way to the bar to grab another drink, and then made b-line for Tetsu's table. As he'd slide the mug across the table, Tetsu would stop it from going off the edge of the table. Instead of drinking it, he'd take another sip of his ale, and listen as they pitched contract.

He was a bit more observant than Tetsu had given him credit for. Though that still wasn't enough. He spoke like he thought he was some kind of bandit, even a ronin. Usually a fatal mistake others made when they tried to set him up... His thoughts would shift as he noticed the giant's friend subtlety shift his posture and the placement of his hands. We're these kids actually trying to set him up? We're they really some kind of bounty hunters?

"Hmph." Tetsu grunted as he finished off his drink, around the same time that he'd finish talking, and the little girl would come and sit next to him. Normally, Tetsu would give some overt threat to let them know who exactly it was they were dealing with. But, these were kids. He'd easily be able to handle the two guys, and anyone else in the bar really, if they jumped in.

He'd put down his empty mug, and lean back in his seat. "I'll give you one chance. Are you sure you want to do this?" He'd adjust his cloak, allowing his forehead protector to come into the immediate view both Kaisui and Umiko, as well as Ichiro, to a degree, while it remained hidden form everyone else. The symbol of Kirigakure was unmistakable in the lighting.

If the kids were foolish, they'd take this as confirmation and try to attack him, here and now. If they were smart, they'd move along, and so would he.

Kaisui would grimace upon seeing the Kirigakure headband. He'd just been chased out of the land of water. He hadn't been in any hurry to encounter another kiri nin. Then again this man was more than likely a missing ninja like himself otherwise he wouldn't be in the land of tea.Kaisui would casually lean forward and whisper towards the man.

"Are you an idiot? Put that thing away before someone sees. Flashing that stupid thing doesn't scare me if anything it pisses me off. As such the offer is no longer on the table. Whether you're a shinobi of Kirigakure or a former one I want nothing to do with anyone from that blasted place. All I wanted was to live a quiet life as a fisherman while I hid from Kumo. But would they let me? No. They sent some creepy skeleton man after me to 'escort' me out of the country. Well screw em. Enjoy the pint and enjoy your evening."

With his piece said Kaisui would abruptly stand up and giving the man one more loathing look would trail off leaving Umiko and Ichiro behind. He'd had enough to do with Kirigakure for a lifetime. Slapping the payment for his orders on the bar he'd order another pint a nurse it quietly while gazing at the other patrons of the bar not overly enthused by what he had to pick from. His actions would be a clear indicator to Umiko and Ichiro that the man in the corner was no longer a consideration as a recruit for the ship.

Ichiro observed quietly as the two men talked, shifting his gaze to Kaisui for guidance as the other man grew more hostile by the minute. The young Waterfall country native didn’t want to fight if he didn’t have to. He knew how to survive on the road and typically it was by avoiding these sorts of individuals and making a hasty exit when one sensed this kind of violent intent. Still, he wouldn’t abandon Kaisui, he had created a pact with the man, contracted to him but beyond that he had come to respect the muscular fisherman as a leader and a friend. He wanted to journey more with the man, see what the world had to offer and grow as a member of his crew. Flashing his eyes back to the man before them he caught the sight of a piece of metal within his cloak, however it wasn’t a weapon, rather there were marks engraved in it. Staggered lines that he recognized as the Hidden Mist, had this man followed them from Water Country or was it simply a coincidence? Either way if it were up to him he would cut and run before a conflict broke out. The thin teenager could barely hold his own against the average thug or two, let alone a trained shinobi. “We’re not here to fight, we don’t want any trouble” he started, attempting to keep his voice calm and level though there was a detectable hint of nervousness, made worse by his own tense posture and wary eyes. He wouldn’t take his icy gaze away from the potentially hostile man, relying on his hearing and peripheral vision to determine what Kaisui might be planning on doing.

Luckily the fisherman turned pirate seemed to keep the situation under control, at least he was attempting to. Ichiro sighed lightly in relief as the man stated that the deal was off the table. Someone from Kirigakure was likely more trouble than they were worth. At best he would take their ship and all their belongings and leave them stranded, at worst they would all be killed or sold into slavery. His attention perked up however as Kaisui mentioned Kumo, he hadn’t known the man was a former shinobi himself and while Ichiro knew next to nothing about the Land of Lightning he knew enough to recognize the name of one of the 5 great shinobi villages. As Kaisui stood and departed, ichiro would keep an eye on the man before them for a few moments, ready to act if he were to attack Kaisui as he walked away, and then if no hostile action was taken Ichiro would slide his chair back and take a few steps back and around it before gesturing to Umiko to leave now. Only once she was safely out of the way would Ichiro move towards the others, heading straight for the exit with them and keeping an eye out for reflections in the windows as well as keeping his body angled so that he could see out of his peripheral vision to some extent.

Tetsu would watch as the trio departed the hostel. So the kid wasn't as naive as he seemed. A smile smirk crossed his face. Initially, he was planning on just letting them go even if they attacked him. After all, there was nothing to gain from beating on a couple of foolish brats, looking to make a living at the cost of others. The best outcome would've been they gave up and returned to whatever occupation their families held for the last dozen generations, and keep going.

But that was before he revealed he was Kumo shinobi. And a missing one at that. There was potential to be had there. One possibility was establishing himself with another missing nin, just like he'd done with Kenji in Chisiki. Another, less... amiable option, was to kill the shinobi, and claim whatever bounty his country's bingo book held for him. Either way, it'd be a profitable situation.

Placing down the money for his meal, he followed the the trio outside, spotting them walking further down the road. "Hey!" He called out to them. "You're really bold kid, you know that? A shinobi's village is their pride. Insulting it is basically challenging them." He creaked his neck, and flexed his fingers. "Remember at the end of this, I did ask if you wanted to do this."

He considered how to engage them. He honestly didn't want to harm the little girl; she looked completely defenseless and naive, though he'd been misled beforehand. Taking that into account, he chose to engage with taijutsu. Lowering his stance, he suddenly bounded at the two older boys, at a speed of 20, and unleash a flurry of strikes on Kaisui.
*[Totem Style • Tiger's Hunt]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Stance
The user's stance is low and focused on fluidity. They advance with each attack given or received, dodging to the left or right rapidly but always closing the gap. Once closed they attack with rapid, if unaimed, strikes focused on overwhelming their opponent.

*[Totem Style • Tiger's Pounce]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: *Totem Style • Tiger's Hunt
The user makes a full sprint at their target, using their legs to rapidly move to the left or right of any incoming attacks. Once there they will leap at them with full force, aiming to place themselves on top of their opponent, using their body to push them down. If this works they will unleash a flurry of strikes to take full advantage of the situation and end the fight quickly.

Assuming the matter was settled, Kaisui was leading his crew to a new bar in search of recruits when he heard the voice from behind him. He turned around and saw the man they'd been talking to earlier he spouted off some nonsense about about. A village being a shinobi's pride. ~Pride my ass.~ Such were the thoughts of the giant before the man decided to attack.

Kaisui was left with little time to prepare or dodge, the man's speed to quick, and the distance too short. Instead Kaisui had no choice but to attempt to use his large body size and the man's momentum against him. Being so large making it hard to be nimble and dodge attacks, Kaisui would have no choice but to drop his bottle of rum. As the glass shatters on impact with the ground, Kaisui's would glaze over with anger as he reached forth to grab the man's chest and toss the incoming Shinobi, using the man's own speed and momentum to fuel the throw.

On the off hand due to the overwhelming disparity in strength Kaisui would be knocked over rolling back as Tetsu would fly over top getting in a few hits causing Kaisui to cough up a bit of blood. Getting back on his feet Kaisui would perform two sets of seals the first creating a scattered blanket of caltrops to help keep the shinobi from utilizing his speed, and the second causing the air around Kaisui to crackle with electricity as a deterrent to get the shinobi to be disinclined to attack so directly.

Ichiro felt a sense of relief as they left the building, a great deal of tension releasing from his body, though even as they walked away he remained somewhat on edge and wary. Unlike the others he was used to travelling alone and even now as part of a crew he tended to err on the side of caution, always looking for the safest course of action while their bold leader enacted his various plans. He hoped to one day become more useful, ever aware of his weakness though his passion arose in great ferocity whenever an opportunity came to learn and grow stronger. He hated being afraid of shinobi and longed for the day where he could stand equal to one in combat.

When he heard the voice he knew a fight was inevitable, he had been confronted in such a manner countless times but ever occurrence had been simple thugs or farmhands that had drank too much and wanted to blow off some steam. They had been easy enough to deal with, using a bit of quick thinking and precision strikes but an opponent who was a shinobi was in a whole different class and that was even at a low ranking level, there had been a handful of shinobi Ichiro encountered that seemed beyond human with their immense skill and mystical feats they could accomplish. Still, Ichiro would not run or cower, instead he moved in front of Umiko, placing a hand on his sheath as he reached for a throwing knife with the other. There was a good amount of distance between them, likely their opponent would attack Kaisai, seeing him as the greatest threat and perhaps giving Ichiro an opportunity to work his angles and get in a counterattack. “Umi, go hide” he requested, he needed to help and couldn’t do so from a stationary position. The speed of their opponent was significant, however he could track his movement and had witnessed much faster.

As the two larger men engaged in a grappling match, Kaisui attempting to grab and throw him Ichiro would launch his throwing knife at Tetsu, aiming to time it so that it would strike after he had been tossed or at the very least while he was being held down. After throwing the knife, the young Waterfall country Samurai would rush in, drawing his Wakizashi as he aimed for a quick slash at his opponents hamstring. If connected the cut would be light, only about an inch deep, enough to flare up with pain and make movement more difficult but not so much that the wound would bleed heavily or have long-lasting damage.
Jutsu UsedShow
*[Yoshin • Paper Slash]
D-Ranked Kenjutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 5 Instinct
In this technique, the user switches from the typical critical blows to a more specialized 'swirl' pattern of slashing, which while much less effective in terms of damage, is useful in distraction. Wounds inflicted are patterned to flare up with pain when those muscle areas tighten, causing moves the opponent's make to recoil slightly on their bodies, the wounded areas acting as a detrimental pain in their actions.
