Downtime in hard times

The streets of was filled with the hustle and bustle of passerbyers and merchants selling their wares. The mist had lessened as the sun progressed higher into the sky, peaking through heavy clouds with small rays of warmth sneaking kisses to the earth below. Saicho, having been indoors for a great majority of his social life, had grown to love day like these. No training, no missions, just a beautiful filled with possibilities. His mouth piece firmly in place, Siacho allowed his gaze to wander around the different stalls and shops, pausing in his stride to look over a few items that caught his fancy, before eventually shuffling onward. He had no real destination in mind, allowing his feet to follow his eyes from one store to the next, avoiding running children and deliveries.

Though his destination was unknown, Saicho was armed with a single goal that could possibly effect the rest of his life. He was shopping for a hobby. Truth be told, he had never really developed much of a hobby. Before his ninja training started he mostly just drew or worked on his writing, but that was before he was expected to have any kind of future outside of helping out with the family business. No doubt he would have been shoved into an office, given egregious amounts of paper work to keep him busy until he finally took his own life from the sheer boredom of it all. A chill ran down his spine at the thought.

The sounds of applause brought his attention to a small crowd that had formed, parents smiling as their children jumped and shouted in awe. Ever curious, the genin made his way towards the crowd, slipping past a few adults to get a better look at the attraction. Standing in the middle of the crowd, a small circle of space separating him from the masses, was a young woman with radiant blond hair and piercing blue eyes. She looked to be in her early twenties, a pretty young woman with simple clothes and an infectious smile. The woman was performing with some sort of toy, a round object that wheeled and whizzed as it spin from the end of a string.

With a flick of her wrist, the object retreated up it's string, before suddenly shooting out straight towards him. Out of instinct he raised his hand to guard against the attack, flinching back in anticipation for a blow that never came. The crowd loved it, they chuckled at his reaction while he lowered his hands to find the woman smiling at him with a glint in her eyes, teasing him with her angelic voice, "Look at that folks, we even caught a ninja off guard! That is the power of the amazing yo-yo! Dazzle your friends, master a verity of moves or make your own, the potential is limitless!"

Saicho had to admit, it looked fun. He stood idly by as he continued to watch the woman perform her tricks.
