Smells Like Team Spirit
Kazushige and Fumiko, take the time to test each others limits and skill. Match one of the Fox and the Ice Bitch.
Smells Like Team Spirit
Fumiko wasn't lying when she told Kazushige she liked the early morning air. The cool wind bushed over her shoulders, and in through her haori. If not for her aisu heritage she would shiver, instead, she took a deep breath smelling the cool morning mist as it filled her nose. She was sitting on a bench near the outdoor sparing grounds, she had awoken early to come and place a in use sign on her chosen arena. Front and center, right out from the door of the academy, the perfect place for them both to showcase to a gathered crowd of genin. Fumiko, if she had any vices, it was her consistent need to show off her skill, and her arena choice was perfect for that. The sun was just peaking over the horizon, although the bright yellows and reds where dulled in the villages thick mist. Luck wasn't on their side, when it came to the rare beautiful days in kiri.
Slowly, shinobi filed into the academy, many from the day before attempting round two's and in some cases round three's. Yesterday's loser's eager to topple each of their own reigning champions from the previous day. They would pass by stepping out to the side away from Fumiko, she sat with a calm disinterested look as she waited for Kazushige, there was still time of course. But she guarded her arena like a hound if anyone dared to step near it. Most would come up and look at the reserve sign hung on the board nearby, then turn with disappointment they did not get the first arena available. Early bird gets the worm, idiots, she thought to herself, as several genin came and went with disappointed looks on their faces. Eventually, a young girl showed up, the same redhaired girl from the day before, she seemed shaken still from her bout with Kazushige the day before. She weakly placed a small placard onto the nearby board reserving the arena for the noon bracket, as she looked over and met eyes with Fumiko realizing she picked the same arena but at a later date from her oppressor of yesterday. A small sheepish eep left her voice before she squirmed and walked away from the icy girl.
"Ya'know, your partner really knows how to leave an impression. After she woke up yesterday, she demanded we get an arena today and train, but she is still pretty broken over that. Alot more pliable than yesterday thats for sure," said the familiar voice of Tenchu, as he sat down next to her on the bench his katana resting against his shoulder down to his lap. "Oh really, I didn't think it was all that impressive, aside from the evident weakness of your partner that is," she said sarcastically as she glanced a small glare in his direction. "In fact, I would say the wheel of fortune has turned in your favor, the weak girl will be a bridge more so than a stepping stone for your personal ascension," she said with nothing but bite in her voice. The boy looked over to the Icy girl, "Ya know that attitude of yours really pisses me off," he said, rubbing the back of his head. "Just make sure your both still standing afterwards, Kyouko and I have some scores to settle one day with you both," the young Fushinkou said before standing and stretching feeling the scar that served as a brand as his defeat by Fumiko in a not so distant past.
Fumiko paid little mind to the boys warning, they are all irritating me today, one gets a little snappy, now every dog thinks they can bark just as loud, she thought to herself. Her frustration was growing, as she thought on it, instead she folded her legs on the bench and began a small meditation. She needed to calm her mind, she didn't want her blades to dull just because of a few petty words. She let out some deep sighs, before closing her eyes awaiting Kazushige. It was getting closer to their designated time and she was beginning to well with excitement that threatened to burst, flowing out of her like a raging river. This would be fun for her, the chance to make the smile disappear from his face, she was quickly lost in thought as images of the angry fox flooded her mind.

Smells Like Team Spirit
A waft of breath escaped from Kazushige's mouth as he rounded a corner, making his way through the streets of the misty village on his course for the Academy building he had been at just yesterday morning. The chill of the morning air made his breath visible, but the cold didn't seem to bother Kazu much, except that his haori was pulled a little tighter over his shoulders and torso. The boy was almost skipping down the street, his tail flicking playfully behind him, swishing through the air as if cutting through it like a blade with even, horizontal slashes. Ahh, a beautiful day for a fight. That red haired girl from yesterday was such a let down, I feel sorry for the Fushinkou paired with her. But today, I get to see if my own partner will be what I desire... I sincerely hope she is. I don't know if I could handle such a letdown this early into my shinobi career, I might just snap her neck.
The thought crossed his mind with no real emphasis, it didn't stand out from anything else in the kids mind. Breaking his new partner's neck was as impactful as what he had for breakfast this morning. Kazu would hum a little tune to himself as the academy building came into view, the boy practically bursting with excitement. He knew that he wasn't going to be playing to his strength today, that his entire focus on ninjutsu would be shelved in the favor of a "fair" fight. In some ways he enjoyed that, the limitation made it feel more fair to him and he appreciated the challenge. Plus he was eager to see what his opponent would be capable of using all of her advantages against him, and the fact that he was concealing a bit more of his own abilities meant he'd have the advantage in the long run.
Finally arriving, he could see there was already a small crowd forming around the small training ground. The whole area was only 40 meters in diameter, fenced off earth with a few trees and some rocks to serve as obstacles and cover while two genin fought. The small stand to the north of the area was filling up with a few observers, including the Fushinkou from yesterday. And of course, his eyes fell on Fumiko sitting next to Tenchu, and with a giddy wave he skipped over to the two with a giggle. "Yay, we have a little crowd forming for us! How cute, they want to see what their peers are capable of. Good morning, Miss Fumiko." Kazu would give a small bow, his tail hanging low and still for a moment as he calmed himself briefly out of respect.
Around that time, the fiery red head Kyouko entered the area from another entrance, and upon seeing Kazushige, she paused. The events of yesterday had clearly left an impression on her, and as he rose from his bow and his eyes fell on her, he could practically feel her blood run cold. Her hand instinctively rose to her throat, touching a large bruise that had formed around her neck after yesterday's spat. "Hello, Kyouko. I'm happy to see you're alright after yesterday, the bruising around your neck will fade in a few days. In the meantime, when it throbs in pain, I hope it reminds you to maintain your composure and respect your peers." She opened her mouth to speak, but a second later thought better of it, instead crossing her arms over her chest and taking a seat on the bleachers next to Tenchu.
"Now then, Miss Fumiko... Shall we?" He'd extend a hand to the girl as if asking her to dance, bowing slightly out of respect as he awaited her response.

Fumiko broke away from her idle meditation she hadn't been in it long after Tenchu had left when Kazushige appeared in front of her. The crowd that had gathered was filled with murmurs and excitement to see the two genin's battle. "Good morning Kazushige," she said as the fox bowed before her with a jovial greeting. She untwisted her legs, dangling them back off the bench again, and looking up to the boy. While he greeted kyouko who still seemed traumatized by him. She stayed stoic as she watched the girl sit sheepishly next to Tenchu. Watch I'll show you how to stand your ground, she thought to herself, as if talking to Kyouko. She felt no guilt the girl was weak but she could be motivated to be better if Tenchu pushed her right.
"Now then, Miss Fumiko... Shall we?"
Kazushige extended a hand, as if at a ballroom gala asking a fair maiden to dance. Fumiko felt a subtle blush form across her face at the thought of the two in elegant dress attire, as he walked to her chair offered her a hand and they danced. The little girl deep within her was joyfully ready to play the part, but she fought it down. She gently clapped her hands to her face, regaining her composure extended a hand letting him lift her. Her head ran with a mixture of emotions, as the childlike fantasy tried to flutter to her head. She removed her hand from his calmly and stepped past him, "I suppose if you are prepared, I am as well," she said her cold tone now returning crushing her inner child as the dutiful cold Aisu replaced it standing across the arena from Kazushige.
Their gathered peers were silent afterwards, she could feel their eyes on her as she stood there head tilted downward in a serious gaze that watched each of Kazushige's moves. She drew one of her wakizashi, its blade gleaned even in the misty morning, and held it tightly while making a idle stance. I'll use one blade, no need in using both at least right away. I'll draw out the fight, and see how far are supposed differences are here, she thought to herself, going over her game plan. Excitement welled up into her chest, it had been awhile since she had a true spar with another genin. She waited for a nearby student to swing his arm. "Kazushige, lets make our dance a beautiful exhibition. I think it goes without saying, but give me your best," she said, looking at him with the icy glare. Preparing for any onslaught that the fox would bring in the next few minutes.

Kazushige's grin shifted ever so slightly as the girl took his hand and rose to her feet, allowing him to lead her over to the small training area. Once they were there, they'd split to stand on separate sides of the fenced in area, turning to look at each other and ready themselves for the bout. Fumiko drew her blade, allowing him to see the sword for what it truly was, the white hilt standing in stark contrast to the black blade concealed within it's sheath. The morning sun gleamed and twinkled off of it's sharpened edge, an edge that he might very well fall prey to today. At the least, it's sharpness told him that any cuts would be clean and easy to treat after the fact, especially considering Fumiko's preference for clean and precise strikes.
Kazu casually waited for the other genin to swing his arm, and while on the outside he seemed casual and nonplused, inside her was coiled like a snake ready to strike. The only outward sign of his preparedness was his tail, which was normally swishing playfully around and was instead poised and still, as if ready to lash out at a moment's notice. And as the boy finally swung his arm with a nod, backing off outside of the fenced in area to allow the two to fight, Kazushige decided instead that he would just... not. He wouldn't rush in, he wouldn't take to the offensive first. No, Kazu simply stood there, smiling at Fumiko, tilting his head ever so slightly as his ears twitched, seeking sensory information that could prove invaluable to him.
I'll give her the first move - I'm eager to see what she believes to be a strong opening to a bout, and it's just another way to keep my tactics close to the vest in the long term. Come on then, Aisu, show me what your clan is capable of.

Fumiko stood idly sword sitting pointed down in her left hand, after the boy swung his hand down to initiate the fight. One second, two seconds, three seconds passed, she idly bounced the back end of her blade off the back of the bottom of her shoes before she looked up. Her eyes filled with the cold glare when suddenly she dashed across the arena one arm up, to protect while the other, held her sword pointed forward as if ready to thrust upwards. As she dashed her body began to sway from side to side, dipping back and forth. The movements seemed as if she would sway downward with an upward motion to the left before twisting and repeating in the opposite pattern on her right. The intent to cause confusion before her first strike.
Her steps were quick but she wouldn't put the full impact of her swing into the fight not this early. She had to showcase her strengths a bit more, she would use a basic technique to start, and as she forced him to take action she would see how her partner danced.
As she reach Kazushige her blade poised, thrusted upwards, deliberately missing on the first strike as it passed upwards over Kazushige, she swapped grips with her right hand grabbing the hilt in a reverse grip pulling the blade downward, in a swift motion aimed at his right shoulder down, twisting her body around in a spin, as she twirled bringing the blade eye level preparing for Kazushige's move in their dance. She hoped that her partner wasn't born with two left feet or else this dance will quickly end. Her face however bore the mask of the disinterested Aisu, as her blade swayed gracefully in the air.

~[Sekisetsu - Swaying Winds]
D-Rank Taijutsu Stance
The most basic stance of Sekisetsu, the user of Swaying Winds sways side to side, and back and forth, mimicking the way a snow flurry moves and preventing obvious telegraphing of movements or strikes. Opponents will find it incredibly difficult to interpret or predict the user's next movements unless they have a visual perception technique of equal or higher rank.
~[Sekisetsu - Ambidexterous]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Through hours of rigorous training, the user has learned to not only wield a blade in either hand, but has also learned to dual wield two blades at once in any grip position, and can adapt learned manoeuvres, stances, and disciplines to function with either or both weapons.
~[Sekisetsu - Blade Shift]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Blade Shift is a maneuver learned after hours of training, and allows the user to switch from a standard sword grip to a downwards dagger grip, and back again, seamlessly with either hand or between hands, and even in the middle of strikes or full maneuevers. This core element of Sekisetsu converts a practitioner into a highly unpredictable and opportunistic opponent.

Kazushige stood motionless for a few moments, taking in the scent of the air around them, the stillness of the misty village morning. The onlookers were silent, it was so quiet you could almost hear your own heartbeat, or maybe he could even hear Fumiko's if he really tried. Then she made her move, beginning to rush towards him while swaying and shifting herself around. The movements were clearly meant to misdirect, to get the better of him by obfuscating her attacks, and were he another he may have been caught a little more off guard. But Fumiko might notice, as she grew closer to the boy, that Kazushige's fox like eyes weren't as kind and gentle as they usually appeared. While normally the fox's eyes were just as thin and sly looking as the creature he had fused with, thin lines across his face that made seeing his actual eyeballs rather difficult at times, for the first time she might catch a glimpse of the truth.
The boy's striking yellow eyes were following her every move, like a hungry predator waiting for prey to stroll into it's trap, grinning like a fiend at the prospect of a captured meal.
She came in for the first strike, a feint that he treated as a real strike by simply taking a step back, pivoting backwards as the blade passed his body. A trick. The thought passed his mind and an instant later was confirmed as the girl swapped her grip, coming back down for his clavicle. In response he'd circle his left hand up to swing against the side of the girl's blade while pivoting to the right, slapping the blade with the back of his hand to clear himself of the blade's path. He'd then use the momentum of that left swinging backhand to swing back in on Fumiko, stepping in closer to her range to deliver a swift elbow to the side of the head. He'd continue this motion, shoving back against her with his shoulder to put some distance between them while pivoting on his right foot in a 360 degree turn, lashing out with his tail as he did so to try and sweep her feet out from under her. His hand was reaching for his ninja pouch, ready to produce a kunai so that he might pounce on her with it if she landed on her back...
He could smell blood in the air already - He wanted to see her crimson leak from her stomach... She might have even noticed a look of sadistic glee in those gleaming yellow irides.

Jutsu UsedShow
*Kūgāpou • Soft Paws
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Soft Paws is a bare-handed deflection technique and is used against bladed weapons. At this level, the practitioner is able to read the angles of the attacks to place the flat of their hand against the flat of the blade and push it away without getting cut by the weapon. However, prolonged use of this technique will cause the practitioner to suffer bruises on their hands.
*Kūgāpou • Soft Elbow
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Requirement: *Kūgāpou • Soft Paws
After using Soft Paws to slap a blade away, the practitioner will continue moving forwards while jutting out their elbow. The momentum from the target's original attack that was slapped away, coupled with the sudden defenselessness of the target after having their attack deflected, makes for a powerful counter-attack. The elbow can be aimed anywhere on the torso and above, but is usually aimed at the target's face.
Soft Paws is at full 5 strength, and Soft Elbow is at 4. The Tail swipe is at 4 as well, but all are being done with as much speed as he can muster.

Fumiko felt her sword get batted away as Kazushige lined up a counter using his elbow, poised to hit the back of her head. Impressive, I hoped he would see the trick, I didn't expect the redirect followed by the counter. she thought to herself, a smirk formed on her face. She rolled with the boys punch lurching forward taking the point of the elbow to the back of her head enough to leave a small bump in a few minutes. In the short time she had to think however the boys tail swished around as he spun back to her his tail sweeping underneath her. She pushed off the ground into a tumble jumping over the tail, and rolling onto her feet as she lurched inward.
As she rose from her now crouched position she brought her blade up with her left hand poised outwards in an upward thrust fast but with little force stepping forward towards the Kazu. While doing so she drew her stowed blade in a reversed grip style as she passed kazu, aiming the tip of the pommel into his abdomen with all her force. We will see how he does with this, she thought to herself. She used the trick a trainer would use on her as a child, the bruises she had as a kid from this leaving her unable to stomach food for a day. She ended her maneuver in a small tumble with both blades poised one still in the reverse grip style she had before.

As he returned to a standing position, seeing this his tail had missed it's mark, Kazushige righted himself again as he regained his defensive posture, waiting for the girl to once more come at him. He had noticed her shift ever so slightly as his elbow came at her, and felt it glance off of the back of her head as opposed to a solid connection with her temple. A technique he was also familiar with... Did she know Kugapou too? Or was that just a lucky movement? He had little time to think about that, as Fumiko rushed right back in, stabbing up at him with her dagger in the left hand. Once more he aimed to backstep slightly and use the back of his left hand to toss her strike aside, so that he could come at her with another swift elbow. Did she not learn from the first attempt? How silly of-
The boy was already showing a bit of overconfidence, and it was quickly biting him in the ass. As he batted the weapon away and looked at the girl, he realized her other hand was drawing her other gleaming blade from it's sheath. And he was nowhere near fast enough to defend against that strike too, having not seen it coming until it was on the way. The most he could do was shift a little to the left, so that instead of nailing him directly in the sternum, he'd position her point of impact somewhere over the right side of his chest. He'd probably wind up with a cracked lower rib, maybe even two, but it wasn't going to shatter his sternum at least.
It was, however, going to hurt like hell. The boy winced in pain as he reeled back from the blow, his teeth gritting as he tried to right himself, but his smile still didn't fade. It was odd, the boy was clearly displaying pain, but it wasn't through a grimace or frown like one would expect... Even in pain, he seemed so happy. It was almost like this was when the boy's smile felt the most forced, the most artificial - How could he still be happy with the searing pain of a broken rib? Once he had centered himself again, and noticed she was in a held position, he looked down at his chest, where the pommel had just struck him.
"Heh... That could've killed me if it had been your blade. Limiting ourselves to only Taijutsu is definitely working more in your favor than it is in mine." The boy shifted his neck a little bit, as if working out some stiffness or getting it to pop. His breath was a bit more labored now for sure, but he was still standing - It'd take more than a single solid strike to put him down. "Buuut a deal is a deal. And I'm not a cheater." The boy let out a small sigh, as if resigning himself to his fate, before quickly snapping his hand down to his ninja pouch. A moment later, the boy would produce a small gray canister with a pin going through a handle. With a quick yank, the boy would pull the pin and toss the device at Fumiko's feet, covering the area within five meters of her in a thick gray smoke.
The good news was, as he rushed into the smoke, he'd be close enough to feel her presence. The soft little furs lining his ears were waiting for even the slightest sound, practically vibrating as he hoped to catch a hint of her movement in the smoke. A cough, a shift of the feet, anything. His hand had also reached for a Kunai from the bag after the smoke had filled the air, and he was ready to lunge head first at the girl the second he heard anything...

Smoke billowed out all around Fumiko, while not heavily obscuring her vision she did find it significantly harder to see. She could hear the patter of his footsteps as he approached. Kazushige was fast, a bit to fast for her to outpace, and without seeing him prep his moves it left her feeling to reactionary. She finally being obscured let her mask slip, revealing a joyous smile, how fun, I suppose its up to my hearing in this instance, she thought to herself. She wished she could use sensory techniques, but this would prove to be interesting. She awaited him, the obscured vision would aide her in misdirecting kazu, even if he had some secret to see her she would use this against him.
The patter of the footsteps focused her attention to his general direction, followed by the glint of light, he drew a kunai, how fun. She waited, he must have had a plan to find her in this smoke, and it would be a good test of her skills. She relaxed her body and focused on the sounds and the glint as his hand moved holding the kunai. As long as she didn't get cut, it would prove to be a great display. She knew he was reeling from the pommel strike it definitely made a nice response to his elbow prior. She smirked, as soon as he comes in, she would strike his Kunai, shift his weight then unleash a barrage on the boy, one he didn't expect. She took one step backwards it was lazy and lack luster but one to prep the footwork to dive in forward if needed, or tumble backwards if better.
"I suppose that it was good it was just the pommel, Kazushige," she said goading the fox to strike at her. The moment he did, her plan would set in motion. Sometimes the best course of action is nothing at all. Her smile was growing, she was having fun, he had exceeded her expectations.

Kazushige slowly circled around in the smoke cloud, spinning his kunai on his index finger as he awaited a telltale sign of his opponent's position. And as soon as she took a step backwards, the sound hit his ears, and he knew where she was. She began to speak, and an instant later the boy's Kunai was in the air, having been thrown at her torso. He'd reach into his pouch for another Kunai as he lunged forward, the blade in an underhanded grip, as he aimed to jam the blade into her belly. Of course, the entire approach was made off of pure instinct and a general understanding of the shinobi arts - The boy was by no means an expert in hand to hand combat. If the girl was worth her salt, she'd probably have a response to this crude attack.
Otherwise, she'd find herself with two blades in her torso - Not a fun predicament for anyone to be in.

Through the roiling smoke Fumiko heard Kazu's footsteps, he was circling her and when she took a step back, like she had hoped it sparked his attention. The smoke billowed in front of her and the gleaming kunai shot out aimed at her chest. She batted it away, with her left sword sending it impacting deep into the ground nearby. The footsteps quickened as Kazu lunged through the smoke, his silhouette and gleaming kunai poised at her belly. She swung around and brought up her right hand holding her wakizashi still in a reverse grip manner, she aiming her blade directly at the kunai that threatened her. She checked the blade, hitting it hard dodging to the side, attempting to send Kazu reeling. If that succeeded, she would follow up with a combo from sekisetsu, slashing in four strikes all within quick succession.
The technique would leave her tired, but the barrage would serve as a lesson. She wanted to hold back as much as she could, keep Kazu from seeing some aces up her sleeves. But the perfectionist in her, the battle to stride for the quick end. That's what this attempt was, she expected to finish it all as quickly and cleanly as she could. Their dance would be perfect and elegant, she had decided, in that moment Kazushige was worthy to see one of her best techniques. The fox was scary, and she would further his armory against her with this exposure. For her, this was to create a true rival, she gave him the information he needed to defeat her, to prepare for her. It would force her to become better shinobi as a whole.

The Fox's eyes gleamed with killer intent as his blade drew nearer to Fumiko's stomach, he couldn't wait to see her blood leak from her belly like an animal, stuck for slaughter. And yet, as he felt like maybe he had gotten the better of her, the sudden rising motion of her right hand batted his weapon away, and the force caused him to rush past her... He had overstepped. The girl's added force had thrown him off balance, and he didn't have a lot of time to right himself in the moment - He was fast, but not that fast. He only just managed to get back on two feet and turn to face her again, just as she was rushing in with what looked to be a brutal combo. He could avoid maybe a few of the slashes if he pushed himself back, but he had no doubt that whatever was coming... he wouldn't avoid it all.
He was definitely going to feel the bite of her blade before she felt his. Some part of him was a little saddened by this... but in the end, this would serve him far better. After all, this was a fine display of her swordsmanship and her ability to improvise against an unknown opponent. He had to wonder - Was this the extent of her current training? Was this her current plateau? And if so, could she continue to push past it? This would work on him today, but would it work the next time they fought? Who knew for sure...
What he knew was that he was practically overflowing with anticipation... he was ready to bleed.

Kazushige, fell into her setup, and she smirked it's over now, let's begin... she echoed in her mind. As she stepped over dodging to the side of kazu, she twisted around bringing both blades down parallel to each other vertically over his torso. She then twisted again bringing both blades back up to Kazu's waist, swinging them across in a similarly parallel fashion horizontally. Then, as quickly as those passed she followed into a tumble, bringing both blades upward diagonally while reversing her grip on her right blade, adding to the confusion in her strikes. She then followed another ornate twist, dancing like a shrine maiden in a light flurry of snow brought her blades around her reversed grip right blade pulled horizontal, and her left blade swung over the top in a perpendicular fashion as she pulled in in a wide arc over her head. Her flurry ended with her facing downward crouched on one knee facing away from Kazushige. She gave him the full strength of the northern winds graceful, cold, and elegant.
She let out a loud sigh, as she started to breath heavy. Her strikes were done quickly and with great strength, but with each blow she tilted the blades slightly in attempt that if any did land it would result in a shallow cut, to what degree that helped she was unsure. She gave the boy everything she could in that moment, showed one of her greatest strengths, it was her form of acknowledgement. She stood slowly, before she let both wakizashi lax at either side, she looked over to where Kazu was, some part of her hoped he still stood standing there, ready for more. But she had hardly the stamina to repeat such a combo. "I hope I've lived up to you're expectations... Kazushige-san,", she didn't know what would stand there when she turned around. Kazu on the ground a bloody mess, him standing there in a smirk, or a perfectly timed kunai ready to meet her. The sly fox was an enigma, and she finally acknowledge her rival.

The young fox was utterly overwhelmed by the onslaught of strikes the girl loosed in such quick succession. The first two slashes he was able to avoid with a swift backstep, but the second set dug into his flesh with a harsh bite, passing clean through the flesh on his chest, though not so deep as to cause life threatening damage. He was swift enough to maneuver so that what strikes did land, didn't land on anything of extreme import - But she was still cleaving through skin and muscle. It was still bloody, it would still win her the fight, and it would still cause the boy some serious pain. By the end of the flurry, he was without answer, and as she ended in her crouched position, the boy simply fell back on his butt.
All of this exchange had been obscured from the onlookers sitting in the bleachers - After all, it all took place in the confines of a smoke bomb. As the canister emptied and the onlookers spoke in hushed breaths, clearly hearing but not seeing, they'd all gasp in surprise as Fumiko crouched panting and Kazushige held a bleeding wound on his chest. His breath was labored, and while the boy was capable of moving and treating his wounds, he was clearly out of steam in terms of their fight. "Haha.... Haa.... No no, Miss Fumiko. You exceeded my expectations, I'm beyond impressed." As the boy spoke, his right hand was already glowing with a light green power, and a moment later he traced his finger back and forth along the cut he had been holding. Where he tapped his fingers, a small line of chakra would form, and as it zig zagged down the length of his cut it would slowly pull the wound closed, staunching the flow of blood from a stream to a trickle.
He'd proceed to continue this process along the rest of his wounds, stitching them all closed in a slow, meticulous process. "I'm very pleased, I don't remember the last time I had to treat this many of my own wounds. You're putting my medical practice to work, that's for sure, haha!" The process of stitching would take some time, but it seemed the genin who had stayed to watch the fight were now mostly going back to their own pursuits. However, the whispers amongst them of the girl defeating the young fox in combat, after what they had seen from him just the other day, made it evident that they saw Fumiko's strength today. Not only was she skilled enough to best the boy, she was resolute enough to do so in spite of his predatory aura. She stood in the face of fear and did not blink...
"Haha, serves you right, pissant!" Kyouko was utterly delighted to piggyback off of Fumiko's win, and rub metaphorical salt in Kazushige's wounds.
"Aha, oh the peanut gallery... So quick to chime in when it isn't their own necks on the line, eh Miss Fumiko?" His head tilted over to the red headed girl in the stands, his unwavering smile and fox-like eyes sending a brief chill down the girl's spine. Even injured like this, he seemed unphased - The girl didn't doubt that he could probably still overpower her now, even weakened as he was. "But yes, revel in my defeat. Remind yourself that no enemy is invincible. Keep at it, maybe you can put me on my butt one day too, haha!" Kyouko shuddered in response to the boy's unnerving joy... how was he still so happy, bleeding on the ground in defeat at the hands of his rival? How could he still be so wise, and so... scary? Even while wounded, the boy had the uncanny ability to make everyone around him on edge...

Users of this technique can also choose to sterilize certain parts of their upper body or the wounds of another person instead. Once they are sanitized, they remain this way until coming in contact with more bacteria.
*[Iijutsu • Chakra Stitching]
C-Ranked Ninjutsu
The user performs a short set of hand seals and then will gently place their index finger at the base of the patient's wound. Once this is done, the user will lift their finger and touch it to the other side of the wound, causing a visible 'stitch' of chakra to appear and hold the wound together with [Control] Strength. This is repeated until the wound has been pulled together. Actions performed with more [Strength] or [Speed] than the [Control] used to create the stitch will destroy it.

Fumiko turned to see the young fox not preparing another strike, but sitting on the ground the green aura of iijutsu wrapping around his hand as he swirled his fingers. A iijutsu user, this boy is a medic!? the shocking revelation screamed across her mind. Their peers who had gathered were silently muttering amongst themselves. The smoke screen was perfect she was able to take down Kazushige and it left everyone unaware of how she did it. Good show kazushige, she thought to herself as she began to close the distance.
She took her blades, and whipped them to the side, as the blood that was lining them splattered to the side. She slide each blade back into each of their respective scabbards being sure to slowly wiped the blade on a small piece of cloth that lined its edge. Tckt, I still have a ways to go, if i managed to spread this much gore," she said as she slowly regained her breath. A perceptive eye could see she was shaking subtly, a clear indication that her body was approaching her limits. The red haired Kyouko, in a sense of false bravado had shouted in an attempt to belittle the young fox. But he gracefully brushed it to the side. Truly elegant in defeat, she said, Fumiko was impressed, Kazushige accomplished a lot with this dance of theirs and even more kept his head level. In truth she was envious of the boy he was maybe even better than her at holding his composure. She shot a glance at Kyouko, "Indeed Kazushige-san, perhaps her lesson yesterday was not enough. Kyouko, may I suggest before you attempt to talk ill of my rival, take a moment to remember that bad mouthing him is a direct insult to me. If you desire to throw a dagger at me remember we can always bring it to the arena instead of the realm of metaphors," she said her eyes cold, showing that of someone who would not tolerate such games.
The red haired girl, as if suddenly realizing the weight of her actions, shook her head apologizing to Fumiko. Clearly the girl didn't have an understanding of the precision of the young boys abilities. Fumiko may be a precise and deadly swordsman, but Kazu was precise with much more strength than what he was allowed to use in their spar. She was outclassed in terms of chakra, and techniques, that much was clear even if he was a medic. Fumiko stopped in front of the young boy holding out a hand to help him up. "Soo... A medic? with that level of skill as well. You'll make a great rival," she said, her voice lacked all the emotion of a proud victor. Instead, behind her mask was now something new, she had stood up to a fox, out ran him. Proved she was worthy and a threat, but so had he, she danced to his strings here. Kazu showed the levels of a genius to stand ground against her, in a spar in her own specialty. It sent shivers up her spine, as well as a new goal. That damn smile, she would have to wipe it off his face one day.
After Kazushige had stood Fumiko looked at him, the previous metaphor of their "dance" filled her head. Her inner child began to feel butterfly's for a moment before the words slipped from her mouth, "...It was a nice dance". The words held hints of emotion, she had fun, and it was embarrassing to admit it. As quickly as it had shown it faded, replaced by her cold mask.

The Fox's eyes shifted to the left and right as the girl flung his blood off of her blades, clearly disappointed that she had to draw blood at all. He wasn't sure what kind of world she lived in, where something as basic as slicing open her rival was something to chide herself over, as if it wasn't clean enough. "Far be it from me to judge you, Miss Fumiko, but I would suggest you get much more comfortable with the prospect of evisceration and exsanguination. You can hardly expect every conflict to end without some form of gore, be it dismemberment, disembowelment, decapitation..." The boy trailed off into his own thoughts, musing for a moment over the nigh endless amount of ways to leave a living person as a corpse... It caused his smile to twitch ever so slightly before he returned to the topic at hand. "Ahh, anyway. I'm hardly in a position to lecture you today - Take pride in your victory, don't let me bring you down, Miss Fumiko."
He let Fumiko step up against Kyouko in his stead, and was quite pleased to see that even though she had proven victorious over him, she was still quick to make clear that she was out of line for insulting Kazu. He was Fumiko's rival, and slander towards him was slander towards her in his eyes, because he was just as much her ally and partner as he was her opposition. "Hehe, well said Miss Fumiko." He had nothing more to add to Kyouko, and it seemed that both her and Tenchu were going to make their way to their own sparring matches now to improve themselves. She wasn't worth wasting any more of his words on, that would require him to acknowledge that she was worthy of his attention. He was mildly curious, however, to see how she would develop moving forward...
The boy's hand was once more engulfed in a light green aura of chakra as he placed his hand on a particularly agitated wound in his left side, letting the chakra seep into his muscles and nerves to numb the pain a bit. He could stomach pain of course, but it was past the point of being fun and exciting - Now it was a nuisance. Fumiko would comment on his medical capabilities though, and he nodded in response, willing to share the secret with her now. "Eheh, yeahhh... The truth is, I'm far better with chakra than I am in hand to hand. I've got a pretty good understanding of the human body and it's functions, and an excellent grasp over various elemental styles to boot. I'll let you find out more about those as we get to know each other, I'm certain you'll witness it all first hand eventually. But for the purposes of support, it's definitely good that you know I'm a capable medic. In fact, I'd say I take to that better than almost anything else."
The boy's hand lost it's chakra, having numbed his pain with relative ease, as his gaze shifted over towards Fumiko. For a moment, his face too seemed to shift in a moment of genuine emotion... His smile was still there, but it seemed less fake for once. It was a bit softer, less exaggerated, even his eyes were a bit softer. "And don't worry. In this regard at least, you can trust that I wouldn't harm you if I were treating you as a patient. I have honor in that, at least. If I am treating you, you will be safe, Miss Fumiko." He had an honor for his craft, and was not the type to bring harm to someone that had need of his support. Kazu wanted to make sure that Fumiko understood that, at least in this moment, he wasn't being manipulative - This was genuine care towards a patient, a moment of morality for the boy.
"Yes... It was a great dance. I can't wait for our next one, I think we'll have a long and fruitful rivalry, Miss Fumiko."

"Yes, gore is a part of this but i would prefer to leave less, a sign of weakness I suppose," Fumiko said in reply to Kazushige. It had been ingrained in her head from a young age by both her instructors and her family, the strikes should be quick and precise leaving little trace of blood on her own blade. Had she used her hyouton that would have been avoided. Her strikes bit and ripped instead of finely slicing, a weakness that had been beat into her since she was a child. Tonight she would train harder, till her hands calloused more.
She helped up Kazushige, and looked him over, many of the wounds having been healed by his iijutsu. "I appreciate the reassurance, as a medic and a rival I will heavily rely on you in the days to come," she said in a dry cold tone. She felt excitement rise, this was better than expected a medic who could hold his own, she expected whoever she had she would drag their weight over the course of their genin rivalry. Instead, she was gifted the intelligent, sly Kazushige, they would work well together regardless of the disdain she felt developing for the boy.
She turned and walked towards the Arena edge, gracefully stepping over the boundary out to where the remainder of their peers sat. There was fear and awe in their eyes. The displays of team 69 were sure to reverberate across the school for the next few days, and perhaps it was enough to make the yapping mutts remember their places. She wouldn't be able to deal with anymore Kyouko's or Tenchu's peanut gallery comments being said to her. Kazu and her as well were a cut above them, and with this rivalry they would further separate themselves from their peers.

Kazushige gave the girl a small nod of affirmation as she accepted his vow as a medic, letting out a small giggle as he followed behind the girl and stepped outside of the arena. The other students murmured and whispered, a few even gave a small cheer or applause for their displays of skill, but none could deny they were outshined by the two genin of team 69. "Oh, I wouldn't call it a sign of weakness, Miss Fumiko. Merely an unrealistic expectation. At the end of the day, our career choice is simply not a pretty one. That's all there is to it, you know?" It was a simple fact that Kazushige had come to realize a long time ago - Practice as one might, there were just too many variables in place to ensure that every outcome would be the absolute perfect one. Something would always go wrong, and something would always need to be figured out on the fly. It was the nature of the trade, nothing more, and the sooner that Fumiko dropped her perfectionistic standards just a touch, the sooner she would grow as a shinobi.
"Ahh, but I've had enough of the shinobi way of life for now. I'd rather wash the bitter taste of defeat out of my mouth with some good food. You saw fit to deny my hospitality the other day, but how do you feel about being rewarded for a hard fought victory with lunch? My treat, your choice of locale this time." The boy tilted his head to the girl as he made his inquiry, even holding out a hand to the girl as if he would take it in her own, so that she might lead him to wherever they were going. The fact that he was offering to hold her hand in much the way a romantic partner might wasn't lost on the boy, but he was interested to see if she would take the hand at all, or how the offer might affect her.
Aisu, Fumiko... You've shown me a lot about yourself today. I can only wonder what you'll think of our relationship as I show you more about myself... Will you come to hate me? Will you truly be the push that I need to become all that I'm meant to be? Or will you fail in the end, and find yourself at my feet as a pretty corpse? I can't wait to see which one you become.

"Perhaps it is unrealistic, but that pursuit forever be my growth, you will play a large part in that Kazushige-san," Fumiko said as they walked out of the training grounds. Perfection was like breathing to Fumiko, the way she walked, how she talked, the emotions she allowed to show. All that was Fumiko had been master crafted by her family. In truth she was nothing but another tool to her Aisu parents, a child born to exceed their expectations. She lived up to the nature of the prodigal child but she wasn't without faults. She would cut each of those faults away until there was not a blemish left to be seen on her.
Kazushige and her had differing views, she knew not what the Tsukino were, but what was obvious to her was that they didn't have to meet the high cut out standards that she was constantly given. Fumiko was made to be ruthless, if she were to do what the Aisu wanted she wouldn't have pulled her punches. Their spar would be to the death, like it was when she was a child. She was made to kill, she was fine with that for the most part, but still there was the child she kept locked up in her head begging to be free. Kazushige extended a hand to her, Does he want me to hold his hand? she thought to herself, she felt her cheeks warm a bit probably turning a light shade of pink. She looked at his hand then to his smile, "I'm sorry Kazushige-san, but I must refrain. we wouldn't want the whole of Kiri to see a display such as this. Regardless of how innocent it may be," she said in a monotonal voice. In truth she wished to hold his hand, live the cute little story book romance, it wasn't that she like Kazu or felt any bit of romantic feelings, a far off dream that one day her prince would come and pull her mask off. Till then she would be the cold calculated Aisu she was meant to be.
No, Kazushige wasn't that prince, he may very well never be. He was an obstacle, a rival, and for the first time since entering the academy, he was one of the few she would acknowledge as a peer. The sly fox was scary, manipulative in a way, and she refused to dance to his tune. She was excited to see what they're rivalry would bring. "Of course, regardless of us holding hands," she said her tone quieting, "I'll allow a reward for my small victory," she let out a small quiet laugh it was clear it wasn't used much. She turned her head and walked forward ahead of him, hiding her small embarrassment. A nice lunch with an equal something she rarely was able to indulge in.
