Inside the inner chambers of the Head Hunter Division, a pair of Shinobi who wore the traditional organization mask were on one knee as the reported to their higher chain of command. They were a pair of chuunin teammates that had just returned from a scouting mission in Tree country. During the last war Kiri had focused on only expanding to the nearby island chains to better secure its own foundation and defenses. Yet, now that desire to acquire more land and resources was building within the council and the great families. Of course, who better than the HHD to take the initial steps into a new land, their current sights set upon the Land of Trees. But as the duo in front of them reported the man's hidden facial expressions were still able to make out behind the half face mask, a rather ugly frown that even caused their supervisor to wrinkle his brow. With a flick of his sleeve the two men simply nodded and disappeared from sight as the older man set back in his chair and began to contemplate.

The two-man team had managed to only begin scouting the outer rim of the Land of Trees before they encountered the unseen guardian, of course they had some information on such a famous protector of the forest land, his name was Lord Hakusuri Reijinarudo. A man presumed in his early fifties and renowned for his special bow and archery skills. It would seem that upon them being discovered by a small patrol the pair had fought back but were forced to flee upon this Lord's arrival. One of them being injured as a warning from the old man not to dare trespass within his domain. "How arrogant...!" With a sharp exhale his eyes searched the desk, and a scroll and quill were retrieved as he began to write a coded message whose cipher was only known to those within the organization. It only took a couple minutes before the man had finished and rolled the scroll up, forming a few seals the man pressed his hand down onto the now closed scroll as a sealing fuuin used by the group was placed upon it in order to prevent others from opening it without destroying the contents.

He then moved from the enclosed room, taking a side door after leaving the office and proceeded to climb several flights of stairs before a door opened and the misty view of Kirigakure welcomed him as a rush of cool wet air quickly covered him. Atop the roof of the building, he walked through the mist and a set of large wire cages slowly came into view as he neared them. Each marked with a special character, for each active operator within the group as a means of quickly delivering important information or messages to the group members. After walking in front of the fourth cage he formed a single-handed seal causing the fuuin lock to release and the door to open revealing a meter tall falcon. It hopped out of the cage revealing a unique harness on its back that didn't impede its ability to fly. A pair of scrolls were inserted into the holder upon the bird of prey's back, one contained the message from the captain and the other was a map brought back from the scouting mission for Hatsu's use.

"Go." With a simple command the bird unfolded its majestic wings and with only two beats flashed upwards, moving through the skies of the village in search of its target...

The morning was early, the sun barely peeking over the horizon, casting long shadows through the dense mist that blanketed the Aisu clan compound in Kirigakure. The air was cool and damp, a typical morning in the Hidden Mist Village, where the fog often mirrored the mysteries and secrets of its shinobi. Hatsuyuki stood at the forefront, his sharp eyes scanning the group of academy students as they moved through their basic sword drills. His voice cut through the fog, offering corrections and encouragement, a steady presence guiding their every move. Amongst his students, the youngest caught his attention the most. She was a bright-eyed, petite young girl, her determination evident in every swing of her practice sword. If he was honest with himself, she looked exactly the way he had at that age, physically and in the way she trained. Her spirit and enthusiasm were a mirror image of his own when he first began his training. He couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia as he watched her, remembering his own early days under the watchful eyes of his mentors.

"Keep your stance firm," he called out, his tone both gentle and commanding. "Focus on your breathing, and let your movements flow like water." The girl nodded, her expression one of fierce concentration as she adjusted her stance. Hatsuyuki's heart swelled with a mixture of pride and protectiveness. He saw in her the potential for greatness, a spark that, with the right guidance, could grow into a blazing flame. As the drills continued, Hatsuyuki moved amongst the students, offering individual feedback and demonstrating techniques with precision and grace. The morning wore on, the mist gradually lifting to reveal the full expanse of the training grounds. Despite the physical exertion, there was a sense of calm and order, a testament to the discipline and dedication of the Aisu clan.

By the time the session ended, the sun had fully risen over the horizon, casting a warm glow over the compound. The students bowed respectfully to Hatsuyuki before dispersing, their chatter filling the air as they discussed the morning's training. The young girl lingered a moment longer, her eyes meeting Hatsuyuki's with a look of admiration and gratitude. "Thank you, Uncle," she said softly, her voice filled with sincerity. Hatsuyuki smiled, a rare and genuine expression. "You're welcome. Keep practicing, and remember, true strength comes from within. Oh, and tell your mom I said hi."

As she ran off to join her friends, Hatsuyuki watched her go, feeling a deep sense of fulfillment. However, his pensive thoughts were interrupted as a falcon swooped down on to his shoulder. Recognizing the bird, he immediately had it perch on his arm as he undid the harness on its back removing the scroll. Before the falcon took off, he fed it a small treat that he always kept on hand and watched as it disappeared into the mist before putting his attention back on the scroll. "A new mission huh? It's been a while since they've sent the falcon. Must be important. Well, no time like the present." Heading back into his house, he did a quick search of the building before locking himself in his library where he finally undid the seal.

After using the correct technique he was finally able to reveal the contents of the scroll

"Aisu, Hatsuyuki,

As a member of the containment branch, you are tasked with investigating a native elder of Tree country by the name of Hakusuri Reijinarudo, often referred to by the locals in the area as Lord Hux after his many decades spent protecting the borders of the nation. A man in his fifties with years of battle experience against samurai and shinobi alike. With our Mizukage expressing great interest in these lands and potential expansion of our forces there, two agents have already scouted out a route and some of the border lands but were discovered by this man and driven from the borders, one heavily injured in the process.

It is well known that the man wields some form of special bow but the information regarding the equipment in general is still a mystery. But his archer skills are rumored to rank him in the top three of all known archers in the great nations. Your tasking is as follows.

- Infiltrate the borders of Tree country to verify the map and information gathered by the first group.
- Seek out information from the locals regarding this 'Lord Hux'.
- Assess the current military power of the Tree country.
- If possible, dispose of Hakusuri Reijinarudo.

Your time limit for this is no more than two months.

Signed,
X

Shortly after the scroll was fully read by the young man it would catch fire from a small seal on the back of the parchment, a flame would completely turn the paper within into ash leaving the man with only the second scroll that contained the mapped-out route the first group had taken and some information on the border lands of Tree country with a few small villages marked. The next step was for Hatsu to prepare to set off.

After reading the letter in its entirety and subsequently watching it turn to ash, Hatsuyuki sighed. Not out of sadness or dejection, but in relief. He had been longing for a good fight for a while now and knew that this mission would provide just that. Heading to what he had dubbed his "armory"—though, in reality, it was just a large armoire where he kept all of his battle gear and attire—he unlocked it and placed the map inside before locking it back. He then headed upstairs to his bathroom, meticulously cleaning every inch of himself so thoroughly that his skin was red and puffy by the time he finished. After getting out of the shower, Hatsuyuki donned a simple white kimono before heading to a room that appeared to be for worship. He wrote four letters, sealing each in its own envelope, and placed one in front of each of four portraits. Two of the portraits were of his birth parents, while the other two were of his parents' chosen life partners.

Kneeling in front of the four portraits, Hatsuyuki first lit a stick of incense for each of his four parents, placing one stick in front of each of them. He then turned and kowtowed to each of them respectfully three times. "Please forgive me should I not return from this mission. Should I die, I will use even my last breath to bring honor to the Clan and Village." His pre-battle ritual complete, Hatsuyuki headed back downstairs to his armory and donned his gear with the solemnity of a warrior preparing for what might be his last battle. This ritual, though performed each time he anticipated a significant fight, always carried the weight of finality. Once everything was in place, he left his home and the village. Following the route that his comrades had laid out for him, Hatsuyuki quickly made his way to the border of the Land of Trees, ready for the challenges that awaited him.

The young man's first step would be for him to travel across the various lakes and protective obstacles emplaced by the village as defensive measures in order for him to reach the actual lands of Water country, then he would need to travel to the northeast in order to reach one of the large port cities that were under the control of the Karagata family. After reaching that place he would find a large vessel with three set of masts awaiting his arrival, at the edge of the gangplank was a rather old looking man who wore the hat of a ship captain, in his hand was a small golden pocket watch and his wrinkled face seemed to be looking down at it, carefully checking the time. It was almost as though they were waiting for someone. Of course, Hatsu's supervisor had already done the time and space analysis, using another of the large hawks to deliver a message to the Karagata family liaison in the port city to prepare a ship to allow for the HHD member to traverse the rough seas that lay between Water country proper and the island state that lay to the northeast across many nautical miles of ocean. His map would lead him to this city and this exact port, once he made contact with the ship captain by the name of Juuko then the journey could truly begin.

Hatsuyuki felt zero trepidation as he made his journey through the Land of Water. His steps were purposeful, his mind focused on the mission ahead. The familiar sights and sounds of Kirigakure faded into the background as he traveled further from his home village, passing through misty forests and across winding streams. The air was cool and damp, a constant reminder of the hidden dangers and secrets that the Land of Water held. Upon arriving at the dock in one of the villages controlled by the Karagata family, Hatsuyuki quickly checked in with the liaison, a grizzled old sailor who greeted him with a curt nod. The boat awaited him, its sleek form cutting through the fog like a blade. Hatsuyuki boarded with practiced ease, his movements fluid and confident. Once on deck, he found a quiet corner and settled down, pulling out the map to verify his route once more. His eyes traced the lines and markings, committing every detail to memory.

As the ship set sail, the gentle rocking of the waves beneath him, Hatsuyuki began performing the standard maintenance on his gear. He meticulously sharpened his blades, checking for any imperfections along the edge. His fingers moved with precision, a testament to years of training and discipline. Next, he inspected his armor, ensuring that every strap was secure and every plate in place. The rhythmic motions of his work were almost meditative, each action grounding him further in the reality of his task. His thoughts drifted briefly to the letter that had ignited this journey. The words had burned away, but the resolve they inspired remained. This mission was not just another assignment; it was an opportunity to prove himself, to test his skills against worthy opponents. He relished the challenge, his heart steady and his mind clear. As the hours passed, Hatsuyuki remained focused, the horizon a distant line that slowly grew closer. The Land of Trees awaited him, its dense forests and hidden dangers a stark contrast to the misty waters of his homeland. He felt a sense of anticipation, a readiness that had been building within him.

A large cliff face that ran for several miles in either direction would come into view, leaving one with few options normally. But strangely, built into the side of this cliff face was a rather good-sized port city, different paths and walking paths mixed with ladders that helped for one to navigate the city. At the base of the cliff a large set of docks were build, enough to accommodate ten or fifteen large ships at a time while off to the southeastern side of the port was a smaller marina style port that held a dozen or so smaller fixing fishing boats that were a staple in the food and other daily needs of those who lived along the treacherous area.

"We will be making port in about ten minutes, good sir." Though the man in charge of the boat was several years, perhaps decades older than the young shinobi he still held a respectful tone and appearance when speaking with or addressing him. His current status and wealth were all thanks to the backing of the Karagata family. If word got back to them that him or his crew weren't cutting it then it wasn't unheard of for the cutthroat business for a ship and crew to be discarded or on even unluckier of circumstances there were ships that left port and never returned, many suspecting that the family had taken care of them off the coast somewhere. Thus, one would never give vitriol towards any shinobi or especially the powerful family of Kiri.

At the top of the great cliff side past the embedded village one could make out the canopy of large trees, thought the ones here closer to the coastline weren't as big as they were towards the central area, many were still over thirty or forty meters in height and three or four people to link arms to reach around their base of the trunks. Soon enough the ship arrived, and the crew tied off the ship before emplacing the ramp for the off-loading of passengers and other supplies that had been brought from Water country to the port town to sell and barter with. "We will be remaining here for about three days before heading to another port further north. We should be arriving back in this port in about another week after that. If your mission will take longer than that please let us know and we'll stay in port longer." The old, bearded man reached up to tip his hat towards the young man leaving him to his own agenda, showing no capricious in his farewell words.

Now Hatsu had a variety of options before him, but which would he choose to pursue. Would he seek out information from the locals or work on his own train of thought?

Hatsuyuki turned to the captain and gave a modest bow, his eyes having been fixed on the city as they approached. "Thank you for your services. I cannot determine the length of my stay at this time, but I will send word as requested if needed." Without further words, Hatsuyuki prepared to disembark the vessel. He adjusted the strap of his gear and ensured his belongings were secure before stepping off the ship. The transition from the gentle sway of the boat to the solid ground felt like stepping into another world.

The coastal village in the Land of Trees was bustling with activity. Merchants called out to potential customers, children darted through the streets in playful games, and the aroma of street food filled the air. Hatsuyuki merged seamlessly into the crowded streets, his presence barely causing a ripple among the villagers. He moved with the confidence of someone who had navigated many such places before, his eyes taking in every detail. The architecture of the village was markedly different from Kirigakure. Wooden buildings with thatched roofs lined the streets, and lush greenery peeked through every available space, a testament to the village's harmonious relationship with nature. The atmosphere was lively yet relaxed, a stark contrast to the often tense and mysterious ambiance of the Hidden Mist Village.

Hatsuyuki's sharp eyes scanned his surroundings, noting potential points of interest and danger alike. He made his way through the throngs of people, heading towards the village's central square. Here, a large market was in full swing, stalls overflowing with goods from across the country. He paused for a moment to take in the scene, appreciating the vibrant life of the village even as he remained focused on his mission. Navigating through the market, Hatsuyuki found a quiet alley where he could gather his thoughts. He pulled out the map once more, confirming his route and mentally preparing for the journey ahead. The Land of Trees was vast and unfamiliar, but his training and instincts would guide him. Recalling the letter and the details it contained, he felt a renewed sense of purpose. This mission was a chance to test his skills and honor his clan.

As he folded the map and tucked it away, Hatsuyuki took a deep breath, the scent of pine and earth mingling with the sea air. The journey was just beginning, and he was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead. With a calm demeanor, as though he belonged there, Hatsuyuki left the quiet alleyway and merged back into the crowd, deciding he would first see what information he could gather about the goings on in the Land Of Trees, primarily to see if news of the scouts that had previously been here had spread.

It wouldn't take long for the young shinobi to begin to find some answers to his thoughts, because shortly after leaving the alleyway a couple of young children cut out in front of him as they raced across the street. Firstly, the disturbance appeared to be just a simple game of tag as the duo that cut Hatsuyuki off were immediately followed by another group of two or three kids. All of them laughing as they raced along, seeming to barely notice the man as one of the boys of the group seemed to trip as he was trying to pass and accidently would bump into the man. Spinning around and falling to his backside the kid around eleven or twelve instantly started trying to apologize. "Sorry sir!" But before he could get any more words out the other kids came running over telling him to hurry up or he wouldn't be able to tag them. As quickly as it happened the kids were gone and the normal sounds of the market street returned, only something didn't feel right. If the shinobi were to check his map again he would find it oddly missing.

Hatsuyuki felt the moment his map was pilfered, a subtle shift in the air alerting him to the presence of another. His HHD training kept his senses sharp, honing his awareness of his immediate surroundings at all times. He glanced over his shoulder, catching sight of the group of children sprinting away, laughter echoing in their wake. The thrill of their playful heist piqued his curiosity. Why would they steal his map? With a fluid motion, he adjusted his stance and began to follow the children, keeping a safe distance that ensured he remained unnoticed. He moved like a shadow, slipping through the throngs of villagers and weaving around stalls overflowing with colorful goods. His heart raced, not from excitement but from the challenge of staying concealed in the bustling marketplace.

As he trailed behind, Hatsuyuki observed the children with keen interest. They darted through the crowd, weaving in and out of alleyways and market stalls, their laughter a melody of innocence that contrasted sharply with his own serious demeanor. Each twist and turn brought him deeper into the village's heart, the air thick with the scent of spices and the sounds of merchants haggling. He remained acutely aware of the map's importance, knowing that it contained vital information about his mission. Yet, he couldn't help but marvel at the children's agility and camaraderie. They were a reminder of the joy and freedom that often eluded him in his own path as a shinobi.

As he followed them deeper into the village, he began to formulate a plan. If he could track their movements without revealing his presence, perhaps he could retrieve the map without causing a scene. His training allowed him to analyze their route, anticipating their next moves while remaining a ghostly figure in the background. He maintained a steady pace, keeping his breath controlled and his mind focused. The children's playful banter faded into the background, overshadowed by the thrum of the marketplace. Hatsuyuki understood that this was more than a simple theft; it was a test of his skills and patience. Whatever their intent, he was determined to learn the truth behind their actions, even if it meant slipping further into the labyrinthine streets of the village.

It was several minutes later, when the children didn't feel like they were being followed that the boy and another slipped away from the group down another alleyway which led to a building on the far east side of the cliff-face ocean side town. Outside was a sturdy looking man in his mid-twenties that seemed to just be waiting there for something. His left hand came out of his pocket and tossed a small bag about six inches in length towards the kids as they ran by as they tossed him the map which he caught with the same hands. 'These kids are so useful, much cheaper than paying the normal lot to do something. ' The figure had long blonde hair that was tied into a low ponytail behind him as he turned to walk towards the 1st floor entrance of the two-story building behind him, not knowing or at least having the appearance of not knowing the boys from earlier had been tailed.

Hatsuyuki, surreptitious in his movements, followed the children, ensuring that the one holding the map remained within his range of perception at all times. He moved with the precision and grace honed through years of rigorous training, slipping through the crowded streets like a whisper. While not one to self-aggrandize, he knew that mere children stood little chance of evading his keen tracking abilities. His pursuit took him over rooftops, where he leaped silently from one to the next, his footsteps light as feathers. He navigated through back alleyways, his form blending seamlessly with the shadows. Even in the bustling crowds, he moved like a ghost, unnoticed and undeterred. Each step was calculated, each movement deliberate, testing the limits of his stealth. Part of his HHD training was to never underestimate any target, regardless of their apparent simplicity. There could be any number of unseen watchers, ready to intervene in a situation like this. Hatsuyuki remained vigilant, his senses attuned to the slightest changes in his surroundings. He scanned the area continuously, his mind running through potential scenarios and escape routes.

As he watched the children from his concealed vantage points, he couldn't help but admire their spirited evasion, though he knew it was no match for his expertise. Their journey took them through narrow alleys and busy marketplaces, their laughter a stark contrast to his silent determination. He observed their camaraderie, a fleeting reminder of a simpler time in his own life. Eventually, the children reached a secluded spot where a blonde-haired man awaited them. Hatsuyuki's eyes narrowed as he took in the man's appearance and demeanor. The children handed over the map, and Hatsuyuki felt a surge of curiosity and anticipation. This man exuded an air of confidence and authority that suggested he knew more than he let on. Hatsuyuki's palms itched with a sense of purpose. "Now he looks like someone who can tell me what I need to know. Or, at the very least, point me towards who can," he thought, his resolve firming. He remained hidden, observing the exchange closely. Patience and caution were paramount; a single misstep could compromise his mission. As the man tucked the map away and headed into the building, Hatsuyuki prepared to follow. His instincts told him that this encounter would lead him closer to understanding the theft and, ultimately, to fulfilling his mission. The pursuit was far from over, and Hatsuyuki was ready to see it through to the end, his dedication unwavering and his skills razor-sharp.

After crossing through the large door and the building turned into a long hallway with a few rooms on either side, after walking about fifteen meters there would be another door now at the end that opened up into a larger room about twenty meters by twenty meters. It had a number of tables and looked like some type of workshop or factory area but only a few other people were lingering around inside. Off to the left after entering the larger room was a series of stairs that led up to the second story, the blonde man gave a casual wave to the other men who just gave a polite nod of their head acknowledging him before going back about what ever work, they were doing.

On the second floor was another hallway that split off in a T-shape and the new hallway made a complete square around the second floor, looping all the way around as a handful of rooms were on the exterior of the building with windows that looked out in all directions of the building. A few other young and old men a like seemed to be roaming these hallways like security guards or something of the sort. Making a right and then another immediate right the figure walked through a set of double doors into an interior room directly in the center of the second floor that only had two entrances, one other one on the direct other side of the large conference room. Inside a few men around the age of twenty to twenty-five set around the table with smiles.

"Seems that shinobi who showed up was holding onto this." Carrying a certain air about him the blonde man spoke as he entered garnering the attention from the others before he walked up to the table without setting down, placing the rolled-up map down onto the table with a bit of force.

Stepping out of the shadows of a nearby building, Hatsuyuki moved with a deliberate and measured pace towards the door the man had entered. He made no real attempt to conceal himself this time, though neither did he announce his presence. His movements were fluid and confident, a stark contrast to the bustling energy of the village outside. Upon reaching the door, he gently pushed it open and slipped inside, shutting it behind him with a controlled and almost inaudible click. The interior of the building was dimly lit, shadows casting long fingers across the floor and walls. Hatsuyuki stood still for a moment, allowing his eyes to adjust to the darkness. He spread out his perception, heightening his senses to their fullest extent. The sound of his own breathing faded into the background as he focused intently on the noises within the building. Every creak of the wooden floorboards, every distant murmur, and the faint rustling of fabric reached his ears. He strained to distinguish between the various sounds, seeking out the one that would lead him to his target.

The building was eerily silent save for the occasional muffled voice or the distant drip of water. Hatsuyuki's keen senses picked up on the subtle shifts in the air, the faintest of movements. His training had taught him to listen beyond the obvious, to sense the presence of others through the vibrations in the air and the minute disturbances they caused. He moved deeper into the building with cat-like grace, each step carefully placed to avoid any noise. The corridors were narrow and winding, adding to the sense of disorientation. Hatsuyuki's mind remained sharp, his focus unbroken as he navigated the maze-like structure. As he ventured further, the sounds became clearer. He could make out hushed conversations, the shuffling of feet, and the occasional scrape of furniture. His target was close; he could feel it. The air was thick with anticipation, and Hatsuyuki's heartbeat steadily in his chest, a rhythmic reminder of his purpose.

He paused at an intersection of hallways, listening intently. A distinct voice caught his attention, one that matched the tone of the blonde-haired man. Hatsuyuki zeroed in on the source, following the sound with unwavering determination. Each step brought him closer to his quarry, the thrill of the hunt coursing through his veins. Finally, he reached a doorway where the voice was clearest. Hatsuyuki took a deep breath, steeling himself for the encounter ahead. He knew that the answers he sought were just beyond this threshold. With a final, silent step, he positioned himself outside the door, ready to confront the man and retrieve the map. Standing stock still, Hatsuyuki listened once more, ensuring he had the element of surprise. The time had come to act, and he was prepared to face whatever awaited him on the other side. His mission depended on it, and he would see it through to the end.

Inside the room, there were five men in total, but the blonde-haired man was the only one speaking at the moment while the others of the group were simply listening. "This is a rather detailed map of the southern borders of our country, including a bit of the interior that was in the hands of the Kiri shinobi." The others simply raised an somewhat surprised look. Though they weren't currently at odds with the nation of Water that seemed to be more concerned about their own borders, it wasn't uncommon for them to venture through here on missions. "This may not seem concerning, but the word disseminated down from the Lord was that the previous ones who had created this map were scouting for more than just some mission. It seems that the Mist shinobi are eyeing our land!" The last words caused the group to seem startled, it had been some time since the war were the shinobi nations moved to conquer other lands and extend their own boundaries. Each had some hushed words to their nearby member before they were cut off by the blonde man again as he smacked his palm down on the table.

"The lord only wounded the two from before, sending back a message to the ninja but it seems that haven't quite gotten the message. Or maybe they just think us easy prey...." As he was speaking two sets of footsteps were coming down the long hall towards the area that Hatsu had positioned himself, they would stumble upon the man in the next ten to fifteen seconds.

Hearing two distinct sets of footsteps drawing nearer, Hatsuyuki's senses sharpened, his body reacting with the precision of years of training. Without a sound, he withdrew four senbon needles from the pouch on his right hip. His movements were fluid, his right hand a blur as it grasped the slender, deadly implements. Simultaneously, his left hand tightened around the hilt of his katana, the familiar weight a comfort as he prepared for the imminent confrontation. With practiced ease, he began to channel his chakra into the needles, controlling the flow with meticulous care. The chakra wrapped around each senbon like a second skin, manifesting as a thin, shimmering layer of frost that coated the metal. The temperature in the immediate vicinity seemed to drop slightly, the air tinged with a chill that was almost imperceptible. The frost clung to the needles, making them gleam with a cold, lethal light in the dim hallway.

Hatsuyuki's mind was calm, his breathing even as he calculated his next move. He could tell from the cadence of the footsteps that his opponents were disciplined, their approach steady and unhurried. Whoever they were, they moved with the confidence of experience, yet Hatsuyuki knew that overconfidence could be a fatal flaw. He had the advantage of surprise, and he intended to exploit it fully. He quickly assessed his surroundings, noting the narrowness of the corridor and the shadows cast by the flickering light of a distant lantern. Without hesitation, he ducked around the nearest corner, positioning himself just out of the approaching enemies' direct line of sight. The corner provided him with the cover he needed, and he pressed his back against the cool, rough surface of the wall.

His senses extended outward, tracking the progress of the two figures as they drew closer. Every step they took, every rustle of their clothing, fed into his awareness. He could almost see them in his mind's eye, the distance between them shrinking with each passing second. His grip on the senbon needles tightened, the cold metal biting into his skin as he prepared to strike. The moment of confrontation was near. Hatsuyuki's muscles coiled like a spring, ready to unleash swift and decisive action. His breathing slowed, each breath measured and controlled, his body poised for the precise moment to strike. The thin layer of frost on the senbon was a testament to his control, a subtle yet deadly enhancement that could turn a mere scratch into something far more dangerous. As the footsteps grew louder, echoing through the corridor, Hatsuyuki remained still, his presence masked by the shadows. He was a predator lying in wait, every sense attuned to his prey. The seconds stretched out, each one a small eternity as he readied himself to act, knowing that when the moment came, he would move with the lethal efficiency of a trained assassin.

As the duo that approached entered ear shot for the young assassin to hear their voices, he could tell that they weren't quiet in congruity with one another as they seemed to be bickering back and forth about something but in a slightly hushed manner. Nearing closer to the man pair both stopped in their tracks as they were each hit with a quandary, though they weren't experts by any means they did have a knack for staying alive and both of them had halted when a slight chill entered the air. "Do you feel that?" The first of the two tall, slender figures that were close in appearance, perhaps even brothers judging by their close age, as well. "Something isn't right..." Both were motionless, glancing around them due to the sudden uneasy feeling but found nothing out of the ordinary which almost made them more cautious, the man on the left (closest to Hatsu's hiding spot) shook his head and started to move first leaving the other still standing there for a moment before he to would shake off the feeling and continue.

Listening intently to the approach of his two targets, Hatsuyuki steadied himself, drawing in a deep, controlled breath. Every muscle in his body was primed for action, his mind calculating the precise timing required to execute his attack. His heartbeat slowed as he rounded the corner, his senses heightened to their peak. Each heartbeat was a metronome, counting down the moments until he would strike. With the two figures now in his line of sight, Hatsuyuki's movements were swift and deliberate. He spotted the target furthest from him and, with a fluid motion, flicked his wrist to release the four senbon needles from his right hand. The needles sliced through the air with deadly accuracy, each one a silent harbinger of the explosive frost chakra that would soon detonate upon impact.

In the same breath, his left hand moved with equal precision, drawing his katana in a reverse grip. The cold steel gleamed faintly in the dim light, its edge as sharp as a whisper. Hatsuyuki knew that timing was everything. He could already anticipate the outcome—three heartbeats. That was all the time he had to neutralize the closest target before the explosions from the senbon alerted those in the nearby room. Three heartbeats, he reminded himself, his mind working at a blistering pace. Even if I kill the one in front of me silently, the explosions from the senbon will alert those in the room. I have to end this before they can respond. With that thought, Hatsuyuki launched himself forward, closing the distance between him and the nearer target with lightning speed. His feet barely touched the ground as he surged toward his opponent, his katana raised and ready. He aimed for the hollow just above the collarbone, a precise strike designed to sever vital arteries and nerves with a single, lethal thrust.

The tip of his blade sought out the vulnerable spot as he brought it down with unerring accuracy. The weight of his body, combined with the sharpness of his blade, would ensure a swift and quiet kill—if everything went according to plan. In this brief window, his focus was absolute, his mind and body working in perfect harmony to execute the attack. As he moved, the world around him seemed to slow. The air was thick with tension, every sound amplified, every detail crystal clear. He could hear the rustle of clothing, the quiet exhale of his target, and the faintest shift in the air as the senbon closed in on their mark. The outcome hung in the balance, and Hatsuyuki knew that success hinged on his ability to maintain his composure and execute his plan with flawless precision.

Because the pair had shook off their initial instincts the sudden ambush and the lethal precision that Hatsu executed it with allowed for him to swiftly take down both of the men, but he was right in suspecting that as the sound of the body hitting the deck and the explosive frost chakra from the senbon combined the group inside the meeting room area were all alerted.

"Our guest was much faster that I would have anticipated." The blond-haired man from before shook his head as the others were already panicking, not all of them were the fighter type you might saw, and a couple had already used the exit on the other side of the room to rapidly fleet the meeting place. A seal on the man's arm was activated and a pair of large simitars were brought to the world in a cloud of chakra smoke. Each thick, curved blade was about a meter in length and probably weighted over twenty-five pounds each.

"Little shinobi! Come here if you want your stuff back! " A provoking yell left the mouth of the slender man whose arms bulges holding the large, heavy weapons facing the exit that Hatsu had been previous standing in front of. What would Hatsu choose to do?

Lord of the trees

Hatsuyuki remained motionless for a heartbeat, his senses heightened by the sudden stillness that followed his initial attack. The sounds from within the room had shifted—no longer the murmur of casual conversation but the frantic shuffling of feet and muffled voices, tinged with panic. The tension in the air was palpable, confirming that the group inside had been alerted to his presence. His eyes narrowed as he processed the situation. The man’s voice reached him clearly, taunting and arrogant, but Hatsuyuki did not allow the words to rattle him. He had been in similar situations before, and he knew better than to rush in blindly. The man’s challenge was meant to draw him out, to make him act on emotion rather than strategy. But Hatsuyuki had no intention of giving his opponent that satisfaction.

His grip on his katana remained firm, his mind calculating the next move with cold precision. The mocking tone of the man had given away his position, and the mention of retrieving his "stuff" told Hatsuyuki that the map was still close. But charging in headlong would be foolish, especially when he had the advantage of surprise and the ability to move undetected. Instead, he remained where he was, considering his options. The man's challenge was likely a ploy to lure him into an open confrontation, but Hatsuyuki was not so easily baited. He was a shinobi trained in the arts of stealth and precision, and he would use those skills to his advantage. He let his breathing steady, his heartbeat slowing as he calmed himself. Patience was a virtue, one that Hatsuyuki had cultivated through years of rigorous training. He would not act until the moment was right, until his enemies had made their move and revealed more of their hand.

Carefully, he repositioned himself into another corner of the hall, one where he could see the door without being directly in its line of sight. This vantage point allowed him to observe without exposing himself, ensuring he remained hidden from view. He kept his senses sharp, listening for any changes in the environment, any hints that might give away the number of people left or their positions. The man had issued a challenge, but Hatsuyuki would decide how and when to respond. For now, he would observe, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

The silence stretched, broken only by the faintest sounds of movement from within the room. Hatsuyuki's patience held firm. He knew that the best way to defeat an opponent was to make them uneasy, to force them into making mistakes. The longer he remained out of sight, the more unsettled the group would become, and that was when he would take advantage. For now, Hatsuyuki remained in the shadows, a silent predator stalking his prey, waiting for the precise moment to strike.

"Hm, what patience you have!" The seemed to be a thread of excitement hidden within the words of the young man, the pair of simitars gleamed with a certain almost golden light, if one was able to see them closely what appeared to be almost vain-like structures could be seen running through the wide flat sides of each blade. These were rarer old relics from a forgotten time and in the hands of the toned man they were able to demonstrate true power. He couldn't help but glance over at the once scrambling to leave, they had been rather tough before they knew a real threat had arrived and was potentially vying for their lives right now. With a flick of one of the blades, the one in the left hand, it slashed outwards flying out of his hand and instantly struck in such a precise manner that it pended two of the escaping men directly to the wall as the blade pierced each of their hearts.

"How disrespectful to our lord, such cowardice, one would have thought you were also shinobi..." The saber wielder's words were directed at the now dead people and all those, including Hatsu, who were in range to hear. Few knew that this figure was the left hand of the great Lord of the Trees and would not tolerate those with no spine. Disposing of them he made a simple gestor with his hand and the blade moved on its own accord flying back into his grasp almost instantly. "Do you not want to know more about the great lord, little shinobi?" Again, he provoked the concealed foe, not rushing out to greet him the same as the figure didn't want to be the first to enter the room against him. A short standoff, you might say.

Lord of the trees

Hatsuyuki remained still in his corner, his form hidden from sight, but his mind raced through the sounds he’d heard from within the room. The heavy thud of bodies against the wall, followed by the unmistakable gurgle of their last breath, told him more than enough. This man wasn't one to tolerate weakness, even from his own. The sharp clang of a blade returning to its wielder hinted at some technique or tool beyond the ordinary, but without visual confirmation, Hatsuyuki couldn't be certain. The words that followed, laced with condescension and challenge, drifted into the hallway where he stood. "Hm, what patience you have!" The man's voice echoed in the silence, a taunt meant to rattle him, but Hatsuyuki did not rise to the bait. He was in no rush. The enemy had revealed some of his cards, and that was enough for now. He could almost feel the man's impatience growing from the stillness, but Hatsuyuki remained grounded. Every breath was calculated, every thought directed at finding the best way to strike without compromising himself. This was no ordinary swordsman he was dealing with. The precision of the blade strikes, the authority in his voice, and the casual dismissal of his own subordinates marked this as someone dangerous—likely someone high in the hierarchy of this Lord of the Trees.

But Hatsuyuki would not be baited into a confrontation on the man’s terms. He wasn't some reckless fool chasing glory or validation. His goal was to complete his mission, and while taking this man down might be part of that, it wasn’t worth losing his advantage. He adjusted his grip on his katana, muscles tensed and ready. He didn't need to see into the room to feel the weight of the situation. His instincts, honed through years of training and countless battles, told him that this opponent was waiting for him to make the first move. Hatsuyuki would not give him that satisfaction. The challenge was issued once again, the man’s voice dripping with mockery. "Do you not want to know more about the great lord, little shinobi?" It was a ploy to draw him out, an attempt to control the pace of the battle. Hatsuyuki, however, remained exactly where he was. This was not a fight that required bravado, only patience. He could feel the tension mounting, the weight of the moment pressing down on him. But Hatsuyuki wasn’t moved by it. He had been trained to be the hunter in these situations, not the prey. With his senses fully attuned, he listened closely for any shift in the environment—waiting for the man to make the first misstep. Hatsuyuki did, however, begin condensing a large amount of Hyouton chakra into a ball in his abdomen, preparing to unleash one of his finishers, should he need to.

"It appears I have no choice!" The man's voice was filled with Sanctimonious tones, as though everything he was doing was for 'the best' of his own people despite the actions a few moments ago where he didn't bat an eye at cutting down the two cowardice men who had pledged their service to the great lord. If they didn't have the guts to even stand by and watch him fight, then they were worse than dogs in his own eyes. "Normally I truly eschew such acts of violence." His deep voice echoed out into the hallway but from the previous acts it would be hard for one to believe anything that the man was saying.

He was recalling the most recent war fronts of Iwa attacking Suna and could only assume that it was a matter of time before either Iwa or Kiri began to move into their lands, it just so happened that Kiri was the first to make a move on their great land. The man's eyes contained a sharp gaze to them, and he exhaled slowly, then he sheathed on of the blades and took the other blade into both hands. Drawing it off to the left side a layer of qi began to form that was white in color across the wide blade, then with a powerful horizonal slash an arching blade of qi fifteen meters long was launched as it easily cut through the wooden interior of the door and walls as the man planned to end his opponent from a distance since he couldn't draw him into close combat.

Hatsuyuki's instincts kicked in the moment he heard the man’s blade tear through the wooden walls and door, the sound sharp and precise as it sliced through with deadly force. He didn’t need to see the attack to know it was coming; the faint hum of energy building up had given the swordsman’s intent away moments before. Without hesitation, Hatsuyuki shifted his position, stepping away from the wall just as the qi-infused blade cleaved through the air where he had been standing. He could feel the pressure of the attack as it ripped through the hallway behind him. With no time to waste, Hatsuyuki drew upon the chakra he had been gathering in his abdomen, releasing it in a sudden surge. The air around him immediately dropped several degrees as icy chakra burst from his body in all directions. The explosion of power was palpable, and in the blink of an eye, a massive dome of ice materialized, expanding outwards with tremendous speed. The walls of the dome were thick, cold, and solid, standing fifteen feet high and enclosing an area sixty meters in diameter. The man's deadly qi attack was met by the unyielding ice as the dome formed, halting its path and absorbing the force.

But Hatsuyuki was not finished. As the dome completed its formation, the temperature within plummeted even further, and a fierce snowstorm began to swirl within the icy walls. Winds roared in a counterclockwise vortex, howling through the enclosed space, whipping up snow and ice with increasing intensity. The air became biting, frigid to the point of freezing breath and slowing movements. The storm, powered by his chakra, whirled with a force equal to Hatsuyuki's control over his Hyouton. The battlefield had shifted entirely in his favor. The man, once confident and calculating, now found himself surrounded by the frigid might of Hatsuyuki’s jutsu. The snowstorm churned, thickening the air and making it difficult to see or move efficiently. Though Hatsuyuki remained calm, he was fully aware of the stakes. This dome was not just a barrier—it was a trap. Inside its freezing walls, he held the advantage, and now it was time to press it. For the next short while, the snowstorm would rage, making each second count.

"This is?" His sword intent that had been shaped with his qi easily tore through the wooden walls on the interior of the building and hallway, shooting out through the stone side of the building as it left the sight of both men due to the enclosed space of the building, affecting the structural integrity of the building as a whole as those in the upper deck of the building could feel the floor tremble beneath their very feet.

The man's large saber was still held in front of him, gripped by both hands as he felt the cold rush of wintery air rapidly spreading out from the initiation of Hatsu's ninjutsu technique. This would be the first true test of him fighting against a shinobi and he had expected a water or mist user from the Kiri shinobi village, but this was something that caught him by complete surprise. The surging winter vortex spread out as it was able to tear apart the weakened wall as it quickly enveloped the man's position. He couldn't help but shiver as he focused his body and shifted his feet, each of them sliding against the wooden floorboards as he fought against the rotating winter storm with his own personal might.

'I can't let this continue...' Though he was affected, his own personal strength and endurance was enough to keep him from being completely decimated by the frigid attack, yet not the same could be said for his comrades which were quickly fallen victim to the rapid drop in temperature and particulates of chakra enhanced icy that struck their bodies. 'Saber Intent: 1st Move - War Saber Slash!' Battling against the winter storm the sword was taken hold of by its hilt with just the right hand as he lifted it high into the sky as bright red qi flowed around his body pushing back the icy and wind as it was draw up around the sword as well.

Boom! A surge of pure saber qi erupted at the tip of the blade forming a massive thirty-meter-long saber blade that was three meters wide and one meter thick above the head of the fierce samurai. It's sudden appearance and size destroying the roof above him and the raised arm chopped down and the massive blade followed cutting down from above slicing against the created down with [35] strength. If not stopped it would continue to fall until it smashed into the very foundation of the building, most likely cutting it completely in two which would lead to the complete destruction of it soon after.

"Crazy bastard!" Hatsuyuki cursed under his breath as the massive saber blade cleaved through the icy dome with raw, terrifying power. He barely managed to sidestep the attack, his body moving with fluid grace as the blade descended, shattering the dome's structural integrity. The roar of the storm was momentarily drowned out by the thunderous crack of the massive blade meeting ice, wood, and stone, splitting the dome clean in half. The force sent shockwaves through the building, causing the walls to tremble and the floor beneath his feet to shudder ominously. Frowning, Hatsuyuki regained his footing, his eyes narrowing at the sight of the man wielding such a massive saber. The red qi that surrounded the blade radiated a destructive aura, and the sheer size and power behind the attack were unlike anything he had anticipated. Even as the remains of his dome crumbled around him, ice and snow swirling in chaotic fragments, he couldn’t help but feel a surge of annoyance. The man’s strength was undeniable—his sheer willpower enough to push back the freezing vortex Hatsuyuki had summoned.

Still, the samurai's reckless attack had destabilized the building, causing cracks to form in the walls and ceiling as debris began to rain down. The structure groaned under the strain, the force of the blade's impact threatening to bring the entire place down around them. Hatsuyuki could feel the vibrations beneath his feet, the floorboards creaking as dust and plaster began to fall from above. 'He's going to tear the whole place apart,' Hatsuyuki thought grimly, his mind racing. His control over the battlefield had been momentarily shattered, but he wasn’t out of options yet. With a sharp inhale, Hatsuyuki refocused his chakra, his hand gripping the hilt of his katana tightly. The icy winds from his earlier technique still lingered in the air, swirling around the room like a ghostly presence. As the snowstorm remnants began to die down, he used the cold air to his advantage, quickly channeling it through his blade. Frost began to creep along the edge of his katana, the temperature around him dropping once more as he prepared for his next move.

He couldn’t afford to let the samurai continue his reckless onslaught unchecked. If the building collapsed, it would be near impossible to fight effectively in the debris. The man’s raw strength was impressive, but Hatsuyuki knew that brute force alone wouldn’t be enough to finish him. As the last of the ice dome crumbled away, Hatsuyuki took a quick step to the side, repositioning himself once more. He stayed low, blending into the swirling mist and snow that still clung to the air. His breath came out in steady, controlled exhales as he locked eyes on his opponent. The man might have had strength, but Hatsuyuki still had speed and finesse on his side. In the back of his mind, he noted the unconscious bodies of the man’s comrades, already succumbing to the frigid cold from his earlier attack. But that was of little concern now. His primary focus was the samurai who, despite the brutal conditions, was still standing strong, his qi-infused saber ready for another attack. Hatsuyuki tightened his grip on his katana, his expression hardening. "If you're so eager to die, I'll oblige," he muttered to himself as he began to channel his chakra once more, preparing to retaliate before the man could unleash another devastating strike.

Hatsuyuki’s breath steadied as the storm of cold energy whirled around him, the remnants of his shattered dome still lingering in the air. He had no time for frustration, only action. The enemy's overwhelming strength demanded precision, not brute force, and this was where Hatsuyuki excelled. With a sharp stomp on the ground, a pulse of icy chakra spread outwards from him, infiltrating the floorboards within a 10-meter radius. The chakra, now filling the area, primed the ground with the potential for devastating spikes of ice. Quiet, invisible, the trap lay beneath the surface, ready to erupt on command. In the same breath, Hatsuyuki's hand tightened around his katana. Frost formed along the blade’s edge as his chakra surged through it, the air around the weapon growing colder. With one fluid motion, he swung the katana, releasing a shimmering crescent of ice, the Glacial Slash. The projectile tore through the air, swift and silent, a deadly arc of cold energy poised to strike with the full force of his control.

His eyes remained locked on the path ahead, his mind sharp as he performed a quick seal. The moment the hand seal was complete, Hatsuyuki whispered, "Kai," triggering the frozen chakra beneath the floor. In an instant, sharp, crystalline spikes burst from the ground, shooting upwards with incredible speed and strength. The icy spikes erupted in a wide circle around him, filling the space with jagged ice that mirrored the frigid chaos of the ongoing snowstorm. Hatsuyuki stood firm, his cold gaze unwavering as both his Glacial Slash and Glacial Spikes raced toward their target areas. His chakra pulsed steadily, a calm storm amidst the chaos he had unleashed.

The sturdy man was willing to bring down the entire structure if needed in order to take down this ninja who skipped into the great land of Trees, his lord and master needed not to even raise a finger to deal with such low trash as a shinobi. His saber was still in a lower position after the swing, his breathing slightly heavy from exerting the burst of saber qi from his body as he could only look through the large swath of destruction caused by the massive saber intent that sliced the building into two distinct halves. Wind, snow, and bits of ice floated in the air as the wind still swirled around from a mixture of the ninja's original technique and the force created by Juko and his prior attack.

Muscles bulged in the right arm as he drew the thick, heavy saber blade back up into an aggressive looking stance, still just holding the large saber with a singer hand at the moment. The chakra seemed to swirl back around the blade like some sort of evil blood essence as it was a true manifestation of the level of saber intent wielded by the blonde-haired man. "Seems you are quicker than I thought..." He didn't advance quite yet as the two parts of the building were trembling and starting to fall apart and ultimately into one another. 'He's ready to fight seems like...' A smile came over the warrior's face, his battle spirit burning brightly as he awaited his opponent's move from the other side of the destroyed wall as the building continue to tremble and fall apart beneath their very feet, he cared not about those around him as they were all just expendable in the man's true thoughts, his only desire was to fight and see the strength of this foreigner.

"Come and let me see the strength of a shinobi, my friend!" An antagonizing yell erupted from the broad shoulder man as he poked at his new foe, finally Hatsu seemed to respond as the blade of ice slashed through the falling debris as it was paper. "Break!" Juko didn't faulter or shriek back, advancing with long strikes as the blade covered in saber qi slashed out to greet the blade as both collided in a near tie, with the crimson saber coming only slightly on top. But to his surprise his opponent hand prepared a bit of a trap card for him, long spike of ice shot up from the ground as the man leaped upwards and drew the blade in a reverse slash towards the nearest spikes of ice. A ripple of power was created as the dark red qi slammed into the solid ice.

Because the large man didn't have any true footing as he had left the ground to evade the spikes beneath him, his own blow was enough when combined with the force of the blow from the ice to launch him backwards over ten metes. But the man used this to his advantage as he twisted in midair and with his free left hand punched directly into the already damaged wall as his body burst through the exterior wall and into the sunlight of the outside world. The destabilized and damaged structure soon to collapse in upon itself as the man dropped to the ground outside with a heavy thud causing the ground to splint under his feet. Drip, drip. An almost faint dripping sound could be head as there were small cuts across the calf and outside of one thigh, the area around each cut a darker color caused by the superficial frost bite. He had actually lost that exchange with the man, but it only exited him...the warrior couldn't wait to continue this fight!
