[Solo Training] Become Lightning

After the appropriate hand seals Mariya will charge up to three items or herself with lightning at [Control] speed, lasting for up to 3 posts. The lightning coating gives effected items an additional penetrating power of [Control] strength and can make one's hand or a stick a deadly weapon.


Though Yaseyama had been a success, Mariya had felt deeply underpowered compared to Akihiko. There was not toxicity in this observation, just the fact that Akihiko had seemingly out grown her. It wasn’t in innate ability or physicality- there she had a deep edge. It was in jutsu.

Mariya had never really needed much jutsu, and had focused on fuuinjutsu engineering and non-combat applicable things to help feed the empire. But, in these increasingly complex bouts of battle she had come to realize she was greatly lacking in the ability to deal with complex jutsu or fight her way “out of the hole”.

She also had realized she lacked fire power. She was nearly as fast as her father but it did not mean much when she couldn’t actually take down her opponents. For this reason, she had borrowed Hayate’s scrolls and some village scrolls on raiton with the goal of learning some new techniques.

The pinnacle, and classic raiton technique, was the chidori. It essentially was just charging and wrapping things in a layer of raiton chakra at it’s basic elements. Kumogakure had long distilled this technique down to it’s basics, and made it something even a genin could learn in the form of the chidori charge technique.

Mariya channeled her raiton chakra. Not a bad start. She continued to form it. It was a little difficult, but she was quite used to forming nature chakra by this point. Finally, she was able to get her hand coated in lightning. This lightning was strong- she was able to put her hand through a wood block. Karate-chop through a sword. Not bad.

Doing this on items not connected actively to her body and tenketsu would be a little more difficult though. For that, she’d need to train more. Pulling a kunai into her hand, she would try to wrap the lightning from her hand onto the kunai- move it out. That was important.

At first her attempt failed. She took a deep breath. Okay.

Trying again she visualized the nature of her chakra stream and the lightning, and when she casted, she projected outwards this time. Lightning cackled around the kunai. She expiremented with this, making sure the kunai kept its electricity without her hand. When she mastered this, she’d chuck it for a wooden training post.

Her strength alone would never have been able to break this. But, with the lightning, it split the wood in half. Mariya had succesfully done this.

After the appropriate hand seals Mariya will charge her feet with [Control] strength raiton. For the next 3 posts, every time her feet hit the ground, a shower of lightning sparks senbon sized will shoot off at [Speed] strength in the immediate 7m radius around her.

Mariya stood at the edge of the training ground. She’d already mastered the chidori charge technique, and she was filled with a determination to continue her success and master something else. She had an idea that was original to herself- a little inspired by her father. He had a technique to create sparks from his feet. For him, with his kinesis, this gave him very quick fodder to kinesis and be lethal.

Mariya didn’t have that though, so instead she had come up with an idea of using sparks generated by her movements as a way to deter people that got “to close in her face”. It was a tastily delicious idea.
She began with the familiar rhythm of hand seals- a dance of fingers that culminated in a precise formation. As the final seal dispersed, a tingling sensation coursed through her legs, a prelude to the electrical charge that would soon follow.
With a deep breath, Mariya focused her chakra, molding it around her feet. The amount had to be just right. Too little, and the lightning would be weak, a mere flicker of existence. Too much, and she risked uncontrolled discharge, a dangerous gamble. Full out lightning from the feet in every direction was a bad idea.

When she was certain she had this down, Mariya leaped forward, her feet connecting with the earth with a resounding thud. As planned, a shower of lightning sparks erupted from her feet. They were small but quick and precise, as the electricity spattered all over the ground around her diffusing. Satisified with this, she set herself to do this via just channeling next.

Before long, the entire ground was a buzz with her electricity. She only needed to fine tune the range and try it at varying strengths… but that would be no problem. Running laps as she modulated her chakra control, the sparks range and strength continued. Her target was a D-Rank technique, so based on how fatigued she felt, she toned the technique down and tuned it until it was precise. Finally, she got it to an acceptable level strength and effect for a D-Rank. This technique was so simple but it would be very, very useful.

With great confidence that she had successfully completed the task and mastered her jutsu, she took a deep breath. This technique just needed a name.

Lightning… Spark? Foot Spark? … Sparking Steps? That was definetly it.

After the appropriate hand seals Mariya will make contact with a metal object that an opponent is touching, and will release [Control] strength lightning into it. Since metal is being used as a conductor, the delivery is instantaneous.

Musashi was a powerful samurai from Water Country; but Mariya was no push over. As she wiped the sweat from her brow and her eyes widened revealing her Sharingan, she took stock of the situation. Musashi was fast- and quite strong. He was specialized in Iaido, and until now, had created a great deal of difficulty for Mariya. Her large jutsu were near impossible to get off without getting sliced to peaces by the fast paced samurai… she needed something quicker. Faster. Taking a deep breath she looked at him.

With her gauntlets and a little bit of wind armor she’d be able to tank one of his slices for her. With her speed and the sharingan, she was also sure she’d be able to defensively grab onto his blade. This meant that it was time to try a jutsu she had been working on. She’d practiced it a few times in the training grounds but this would be the first time she used it. She centered herself as she began to contemplate.
To start with she began to muster up her chakra, then began to push it what could best be described as a needle point, converting it to lightning. She’d mold it into her hand- but this jutsu didn’t have a lot of molding. It was more about the raw burst of chakra. She took a deep breath, and when Musashi came for her, she rolled to the side, then when he went for a follow-up attack she threw her palm out and wished for the best. Who needed fingers anyways?

She’d quickly find success, and her palm would survive, though cut and injured, as she grabbed the sword and flowed her lightning chakra into it. As a metal object and conductor, the delivery of her shock was instantaneous and moments later Musashi went limp. Her technique had succeeded in shocking his arms and body and inducing paralysis. As he stood still his eyes were awash with panic.

Mariya, carefully, posed as she raised her hand into the air and formed her chakra in a splendid storm of wind. With a gale blade properly formed, she whipped it as his head as it fell to the ground with a soft thud.

Samurai were simply no match for a shinobi of her calibre, she thougtht, as she took a deep breath. This battle was far from over though- she would be needed at the next battlefield.

After the appropriate hand seals Mariya will charge her hand with lightning than physically throw it, the lightning forming into a 15m sized hound made of Raiton on impact. The hound remains connected to her hand via a thin cord of lightning that can travel up to 30m away and allows her to operate the hound at [Control] strength and [Control] speed. At a maximum the jutsu can be controlled for up to 4 posts.


Oh but her quandaries were not over. No sir no sir. As her squad lept out of the trenches thanks to her quick work of the enemy “artillery”, their own men also lept out of their trenches. Everyone quickly broke out into a melee as Mariya dropped low, narrowly avoiding a fuma shuriken that flew over head. Reaching her arm down low as she gripped her wrist with her other hand she began to channel lightning around her arm, in the mind to do lightning cutter. Her opponent was moving fast however, and she decided to change it up and try her new technique this time. It was built on the ability to form lightning cuter as a range technique, and though it was not nearly as powerful as the original, it was strong enough to generally take out opponents.


It was a willing decision to sacrifice power for the mobility and range it gave her versus lightning cutter, which required her to gap close. As her hands sealed rapidly, locking in the techniques she needed, she locked her eyes onto her opponent as a cord of lightning formed a 15m sized hound made of Raiton 20 meters before, impacting the ground like a lightning bolt. A “chord” almost like a leash lead out from it to her hand.

Moving her hand the hound suddenly sprung to life as it lurched forward, her enemy having to jump back from it. Snickering, he thought he would out range her. Mariya bit her tongue then verbally lashed out.

”It follows!” she yelled as she dashed forward at full speed, the hound moving forward and around with her. It could only go 30 meters away from her, but she too could move in stride with it. Her hand swung furiously about in the air as the hound leaped, pounced and moved about trying to land it’s blow, the opponent evading until finally he had to retreat back into the trench.

Mariya’s wrist turned, instantly sending the hound into another unsuspecting enemy soldier as it exploded in an electrical blast pounding him and leaving him paralyzed.

She shook her hand a little, a little tingly from working with live voltage for so long.

Her comrade winked at her, sasuga Mariya-taichou! he said, before stabbing his opponent in the stomach. They were about to over take the trench and end this stupid skirmish.

After the appropriate hand seals Mariya will make contact with an individual releasing a shock into their nervous system. This shock will disrupt their nervous system causing them to lose precise control of their muscles and inhibiting the use of [Acrobatics], [Deft Hands], [Rigid Structure] technique or things that require body control for 5 posts.

What a quandary… what a quandary indeed. Mariya took a deep breath. Her opponent seemed to have a doujutsu just like here’s and it was limiting her potential to wreak havoc. She took a deep breath. She’d have to shut it down if she was going to be able to smoke them out and provide cover for her squadron… but that wouldn’t necessarily be a straight forward thing. She took a deep breath and considered her options.

Perhaps electricity could be of use here. After parsing the thought, she remembered the nervous system worked on electricity… and the eyes were also on the nervous system with optic nerves. She smiled. Ah, a congruity.

If she could manage to discharge electricity finely into someones body and order it to flow to the head, maybe she could disrupt their nerves. In truth, she had been playing with the concept for a very long time, so she had practiced a little. She’d just never actually tried using it in the real. With a deep breath she began to methodically mold the chakra around her hand, carefully, as she had done many times. This wouldn’t work- and instead she remembered to move the charge within her hand and boy.

When she felt she had gotten electricity to a needle point and the right voltage, she’d optimize it’s frequency until she had a level of certainly it would work. With this task complete, she just needed to close the gap on her opponent and land a blow to their body. Or at least metal or something conductive.

Let’s do this.

Leaping from the trenches she ran onto the battle ground straight for the opponent. Sliding at him he threw a counter punch. Mariya took it in her chest, her armored flak jacket helping her all the same, and then slammed her hand into him.

Contact!

The electricity flowed into his body, but surprisingly rather than blind him, he stumbled about. A moment of panic took over her. This was supposed to blind him- what the hell? He swung in the air but his fist was funky. His co-ordination was off. Something was wrong with his nervous system. Mariya’s eyes glimmered. That was not her intended jutsu or genius, but she was more than happy to accept that outcome. Clearing her through she threw a punch for the guys face- his reactions to off to do much about it as it decked him and sent him on the ground.

Quandary solved.

After the appropriate hand seals Mariya will charge her entire arm with a penetrative [Control] strength lightning; up to a total of 5 layers following multi-projectile mechanics. While utilizing lightning cutter, if the user reaches speeds of at least 35 arcs of diffusing electricity stream off of their body into a 30m radius around them. Layers last 5 posts or until used.


This is the story of how Mariya learned one of her best techniques Lightning Cutter. It was similar to the chidori charge, but the technique pushed it to a whole new level developing enough striking power to split lightning itself in half, earning it’s moniker. It all started in west kumogakure, where she was born and raised, in the training grounds is where she spent most of her days.

She was chilling out. She was maxing, relaxing and being cool. Just shooting shuriken at a dummy outside the school… when a couple of ninja who were up to no good started making trouble in her neighborhood. She got in one little fight, and used all of her might.

Lightning surrounded her hand, but she didn’t stop there. She kept doing it. More and more. She molded more lightning chakra at a sharp percision with a higher voltage then ever before, and she did it multiple times folding it like a katana. Rage momentarily over took her as the thugs started bugging.

She cleared her throat.

One of the thugs shot a bolt of lightning for her, and Mariya, took off with incredible speed as her “chidori” arced all over in every direction. The diffusing electricity was enough to knock out the thugs in the area of effect, but incredibly, her lightning collided with the other lightning and split it. The multiple layers she had had given her contingency and the ability to strike multiple times in rapid succession. This was the birth of her lightning cutter. Finished, and looking back to the knocked out thugs, she patted herself out. This was expert jutsu making that was for sure.

The thugs would never wind up making much of themselves.

Mariya? Well, she went onto be one of the elite ninja of the village, serving in the war where she would use this technique like thousands more times meaning she super fucking perfected it okay? And when the war was done, she’d get awarded jounin rank.

Along with one of her war buddies she’d go on to buy a boat and help Lt. Dan find joy in life again. Ultimately, she’d help found Bubba Gump shrimp. It was a truly beautiful story, believe it. Fucking believe it. And it was all real.
