The Expanse - Yaseyama [Mariya, Aki]

phpBB [video] The rolling and unforgiving mountains of Yaseyama where the last part of the northern continent yet unconquered by the imperial navy. The Great War brought the two neighboring nations under the lightning banner but the illusive mysteries of the dangerous mountain range have stopped any advancement- mainly due to the ridiculous cold that encompassed the country. With two thriving bastions on the continent now and the large port in the fishing wastes however resources and personnel shipment had become drastically easier. The locals of the continent who had joined the empire also proved to be incredible guides, their sage wisdom and navigators having easily made them a valuable resource.

The plan was simple- Yaseyama had been unconquered for ages, but it never had known the might of chakra wiedlers and it had never seen the modern technology and fuuinjutsu engineering they could offer.

Enter Mariya, the daughter of the Raikage. She was a brilliant young woman and a specialist in Fuuinjutsu- and with her came four other individuals arguably more gifted in Fuuinjutsu and a company of shinobi. Their goal was to lay the infrastructure from the west to the east that would allow the territory between to become a live-able passageway.

Yaseyama didn't have much but the stone, wood, and animals were a plenty for resources in the new continent.

Taking a deep breath as she looked over the cold, misty mountain tops Mariya groaned. There was a lot of work to do in this frozen expanse of a wasteland. And here she was with a bunch of Genin and Chuunin brats to do it while her Lord and his limbs laid defense in Wind Country.

Though the prospect of battle was exciting, still, building colonies into the mountains and safe passage through Yaseyama did pique Mariya's interest. With a deep breath, she whistled then yelled her orders to the workers.

"Lay the fuuinjutsu adjacent here- we should make sure to have 3 parralel lines that connect in as fail overs... redundancy is key here..." she said as she walked up the path, inspecting the work. "And for the stone shapers- try to keep the ground steady. We're looking to have a flat 1KM line across to make room for things..." she said as she turned to head towards a group of tents.

Three chuunin and a genin were sat around a fire there.

"Jinrai... Yukina was it? Where were we supposed to be by today in the plan?" Somewhere nearby was also young Akihiro. Mariya was fully aware just what these two young upstarts were truly capable of. There was no hiding the truth from her eyes.

She needed to think like a commander: to keep her mind balanced and thoughtful against the cold, against her duty to protect the two young ones of power, and more.

What in the seven layers of Hell was this?!? Over the past few years Akihiko had gotten stronger. He had mastered the Genma within him, placed high in a tournament, and performed rather well in the Chuunin Exams. However, this... this.. was just a punishment! No, it was a Banishment. Was grabbing the Raikage's underwear that bad that was sent to a frozen hell like this one? The pink haired boy was frustrated and angered. He was told that he was going to be shipped off to an exploration and conquering mission. Although, what didn't make sense was the lack of details. Based on where they were, it all made sense now.

When the ships arrived, Akihiko and the other lower ranked shinobi were sent to create a fire. In anger, Aki went into the Limbo Realm and seemingly disappeared from his other teammates. While within the limbo realm, the boy focused chakra on his feet in order to walk on the snow without leaving footsteps. The last thing he wanted to do was be found.

Luckily the group were given white snow gear. This entailed a white winter jacket, white snow pants, white boots, and even these white goggles. All in attempt to fight off the frigid cold elements. Aki liked the style, maybe he would adopt it in the village when he got back. After the other members created a fire, the boy simply waited. He thought he saw Mariya earlier, which was confirmed when he saw her walk up to the freshly sealed host. How did she get the invite? What was going on!

Frustration aside, when Mariya got close, Akihiko popped out of the limbo realm with his arms folded. He gazed upon the other Genin and then looked at Mariya with a disappointing look. He was familiar with Mariya, she beat the brakes off of him in a training session. One he wouldn't forget. "Aye Marry, what the hell are we doing here. At least let me help with the adult stuff. Building a fire is something we learn before entering the Ninja academy. When are we going to do the adult stuff huh??" With his goggles on, but no hood on, Akihiko's pink hair bobbed in the air as he spoke with all the emotion in his body.

Yukina, had seemingly become ill and shortly after their introductions had needed to return the medical camp. She'd be well guarded there; leaving the rest of their mission most likely to Mariya and Akihiko. She took a deep breath at the thought, taking in her position in the midst of the frozen wasteland.

Mariya Nakajima stood near the sealed host, her Sharingan swirling with curiosity and concern. The arrival of Akihiko didn't go unnoticed. His sudden appearance from the Limbo Realm drew a quirked eyebrow from Mariya, though she kept her focus steady. With a flicker of recognition in her gaze Mariya regarded Akihiko as he addressed her, his frustration palpable even through the biting cold. His disappointment echoed in the frozen air as he questioned their purpose in this desolate place.

Akihiko's voice had cut through the icy silence, his words tinged with impatience.

"Perhaps our Lord has sent us here to learn about willpower and patience, Aki." Mariya jokingly prodded, though without any change to her tone.

Mariya's crimson eyes softened with understanding, a faint smile tugging at the corners of her lips beneath the white goggles as she donned a nearby long coat and huddled around the fires for warmth.

"The roads ahead are going to require a lot of resources, and we're here to lay the ground work to get themand also grow out our empire into these new, mineral rich lands." Mariya replied calmly, her tone carrying a hint of reassurance. ""There's more to this mission than meets the eye. Trust in our superiors. They have their reasons for sending us here." she said with a slight laugh as she turned to Aki, putting her hand on his shoulder calmly.

With a glance towards the sealed host, Mariya's expression turned grave, her mind already calculating the risks and possibilities of their situation.

"I'm here to serve as leader of the Engineering Corps- but Hayate asked you here to be the voice of Kumogakure and the Military, for some reason Aki. We're to establish clear roads and ground works for a coast-to-coast colony. A grand city that runs in a straight line and serves as a hub to capture resources elsewhere and bring them back to the ports to the west." she said as she dug around in her pocket, obtained a scroll, and tossed it to Aki.

She shivered a bit, but tried to hold strong to her will in ignoring the cold and misery of the landscape about them.

As the flames flickered to life, casting a warm glow against the frosty backdrop, Mariya's gaze returned to Akihiko, her resolve unwavering. ""We'll face whatever challenges come our way together, Akihiko. As shinobi, that's our duty."


She took a deep breath.

The thing is though, apparently some pirates and unscrupulous traders who would prefer to keep this land and resource to themselves are here attacking or corps and colonies. Making trouble. Hanako and I dealt with a shinobi squatter even who pretended to be a spirit.” she paused.

In that regard your duty along with a team of other Chuunin, and even myself to some degree, is to protect our works as create a large hub in this location that will house one of the initial mining sites.” she paused.
