~Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu [Shadow Neck Bind Technique]
[B-rank Ninjutsu]
Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu is a Ninjutsu technique developed by the Nara clan. To perform the technique the clan member will first bind their target using the Kage Mane no Jutsu technique. Once the target can no longer move, they form the needed hand seal to initiate this technique. The clan member uses their shadow to form a hand which will creep up their opponents body to their neck. Once the hand reaches the neck, it will constrict in such a manner so as to strangle the opponent. However, the clan member will need to be careful. If their target has a lot of chakra, they can turn back the shadow hand and prevent it from binding their neck.

[Training] Katsumi and Kagami's training
Sunlight lanced through the open window, and the fresh smell of evergreen complimented the warmth splendidly. Katsumi glanced outside from her position at her study desk and sighed with an expression of simple pleasure.
"Kagami."
"Yes, dear?"
"This textbook has begun to bore me. It's such a pretty day. Why don't we head to that clearing near the feeding area and train?"
"That sounds nice. I'm ready when you are."
Katsumi smiled at her strange companion and pushed her seat back from the desk, standing straight and stretching her arms high over her head, yawning as her muscles and bones relieved themselves of the cramped quarters of Katsumi's study area. Katsumi opened a drawer and retrieved her holster, item pouch, and headband, and equipped herself properly.
Presently, the pair left the small room and walked across the Nara Can's grounds, enjoying a brisk walk in the pleseant summer air. The clearing was within sight now, and Katsumi looked at Kagami, that shadowy part of herself that had been her constant companion for so long.
"I...I'm feeling ambitious today. My cousin, he's a Jounin, I met him at a family social recently and he told me about a technique called Kage Kubi Shibari. It's an offensive technique utilizing my shadow. I think it would be great to have it in my arsenal. I read a bit about it and I think I understand the gist of it. Essentially, you make a hand, or claw, from shadow, and it creeps up an opponent and strangles them." Katsumi said quietly, interested in Kagami's opinion.
Kagami was silent for a moment, a thoughtful expression upon her smooth, dark features, and then spoke.
"That sounds so...violent. A powerful technique, to be sure...of course I will help you with your training. But I am a bit concerned that you won't use this...it's not you."
Katsumi chuckled for a moment. "I'm a Nara. And a Leaf Shinobi. I'll use it if I have to. But I understand where you're coming from. Please don't worry about me. This will be my best technique, most likely, so I'll make good use of it. Here we are!"
They stood now in a clearing about 50m wide. The girl and her shadow spent a moment cleaning some of the leaves, twigs, and such off of ground to give them space to work before moving to the center of the clearing and facing eachother, about 10m apart.
Katsumi brought her hands together, making a single seal, and felt chakra rush through the shadow that her body cast upon the ground. She could felel the once-immobile shade below her become liquid and loose in nature, and with a bit of conscious effort, she molded chakra at the edge of her shadow, pushing an 'arm' out a bit.
"Okay, Kagami. I've already mastered Kage Mane, so what I need to do now is work on A) forming my shadow into an appendage that an grip and strangle, B) controlling that hand as it leaves the ground and creeps up their body and C) actually having the hand squeeze. These things are mostly foreign to me, so we may be here for a while. Ready?"
Her counterpart nodded with determination. "Ready."
"Kage Mane no Jutsu!"
The shadow she'd been holding shot out across the ground and latched onto Kagami's shadow.
"Alright. Now, Kage Nui is similar to the first step, so I'll use that and try to warp the tendril into a claw..."
Katsumi relaxed her strained body and used a minor Kage Nui, causing one tendril of shadow to dart up from the ground. She breathed in and out steadily as she thought about the way she used her mind and chakra to modify the original shadow. With that basis of reference, she caused about two "fingers" to split from the tendril, but doing so drained Katsumi and her shadow snapped back across the ground.
"Ah...I was pretty close to making a hand. But I'm not used to molding the chakra in that way. I'll have to practice it so that I don't waste stamina merely trying. Alright, lets go again."
This time, since Katsumi had experienced the feeling of successfully causing two fingers to split out from the arm tendril, it was less of a struggle to get that far. Still, she had to balance her chakra carefully to augment her shadow in such a specific and delicate way, so her Jutsu again failed at 5 fingers. Katsumi was disappointed, but determined, and she only paused to briefly wipe a bead of sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand before bringing her hands together and initiating Kage Mane once more.
Kagami nodded at her er from a few meters away, encouraging Katsumi without distracting her with words.
Katsumi's shadow streaked across the ground into Kagami's, and Katsumi immediately brought a tendril from the ground, already forming fingers on its way up into the air. The hand was fat and wide, with thick, blunt fingers, Katsumi noted from afar; maybe her chakra control was a bit clumsy, causing the hand to look oafish. Its travel up Kagami's leg was smooth, though, so Katsumi kept it up, winding her shadow around and around Kagami, constricting her slightly. She wonered briefly if Kagami could breathe, but another nod of encouragement from her friend eliminated any doubt. Suddenly, there was a tug of resistance, and Katsumi realized that her shadow couldn't move any further now; the sun had moved behind the clouds and decreased the range of her shadow.
Katsumi stepped forward to bridge the gap and give some slack to her shadow but her high level of concentration was broken in that moment and Katsumi felt her shadow winding back down Kagami's body. With a grunt of effort Katsumi attempted to regain control but the previous strain of her technique as well as the stress of having to catch her tightly coiled shadow had drained her. Katsumi gave in and allowed her shadow to return, and sank to her knees, exerted. Kagami was at her side immediately.
"Are you okay, deari?"
"Of course. Just tired. Lets take a break."
The two sat on the warm ground and relaxed. Though Kagami said nothing, Katsumi knew that she was tired, too, from standing in the sun and being mauled by a shadow.
"We'll be done soon, I think. I understand exactly what I need to be doing, so it's not too difficult for me to progress. I'm just limited by my stamina, but with practice I'll be able to use this Jutsu in a few hours."
"I believe in you. Lets get started!" Kagami was enthusiastic now and it was infectious. Katsumi stood and they squared off once more, about ten meters apart.
For some time, they trained in silence. Rather than jumping right back into the Jutsu, Katsumi did a few stretches and excersizes to relax her body and make it easier to mold chakra for extended periods of time. She also spent some time simply holding her shadow out at length for as long as she could. A few breaks were taken to wait for the sun to offer a more advantageous light, but presently Katsumi felt that she had the energy to complete her new technique.
"Alright, lets do this," Katsumi said, and Kagami nodded in return.
Katsumi brougth her hands together in a single seal and molded chakra at her feet, causing a length of shadow to detach and dart across the ground like a black snake, lunging and locking to Kagami's shadow. Katsumi's chakra and eyes summoned an arm of shadow from the ground, five clawed fingers at the end, which snaked slowly up Kagami's thigh, side shoulders, and neck. Katsumi had finally reached a new milestone!
A new challenge made itself apparent: causing the shadow fingers to constrict. Katsumi was used to having her shadow move in straight lines, but having a shadow move in two dimensions and fold over on itself like the separate joints of a finger? That was something new altogether. A few minutes later, Katsumi's shadow snapped back on itself, Katsumi groaned in frustration.
"Grr...this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do, Kagami! How am I supposed to make my shadow act in a way it never has before? I don't have any basis of comparison to help me succeed."
"Don't give up, Katsumi. It's hot right now and that makes people easily stressed. What are you trying to make your shadow do?"
"I'm trying to make the fingers close around your neck, but all that happens is they grow longer..."
"Well, study your hands, then. If you want your shadow to behave like a hand, figure out how your hand behaves."
A light sparkled in Katsumi's eyes. "That's a great idea, Kagami!" Katsumi looked down at her hands, studying her knuckle and joints, curling her fingers, studying her hands and letting herself open up and become aware of what her body was telling her. She turned her hand palm up and bent her frs towards her, and that's when it occured to her.
"I see...It's just like Kage Nui, really, when I cause a tendril of shadow to rise into the air. The only difference is that I'm controlling five fingers at once, and instead of merely stopping when the tendril is upright, I need to continue stretching until the fingers close."
Kagami clapped her hands in sincere pride, and then firmly put her hands to her sides to be the guinea pig once more.
Katsumi grinned and brought her hands together and had her shadow streak across the ground, separate into an arm and five digits, creep up Kagami's body to wait at her neck, and then Katsumi found a calm center within her mind and imagined five tendrils of Kage Nui rising up from the ground, and then imagined those tendrils curling like fingers. Though she hadn't done it before, she found it easy to mold her chakra in that specific way once she had some feeling to compare it to. She felt, then, a connection with her shadow chakra, as the fingers grazed Kagami's throat. Sweat trickled down her brow but her milestone brought energy to her spirit and she felt renewed. She flexed the fingers back and forth, opening and closing around Kagami's throat. She then lowered the hand, raised it back up, back and forth, curling the dark fingers while the arm moved.
"We did it, Kagami!"Speaking took her concentration from her Jutsu and her shadow joined the pool of shade below her. Kagami chuckled. "I just stood there! It was all you!" Now it was Katsumi's turn to laugh. "But you gave me the push I needed to solve the final difficulty." Kagami smiled sweetly, and though she was not human, her eyes were filled with human emotions. "You would have solved it eventually. Now, lets not argue dear. Lets see if you can do it again!"
Katsumi laughed gleefully, nodded, and brought her hands together once more.
