A trip to the library. (Solo)

Kotoya briskly entered the library, an air of importance and direction in his step. He needed to rent his mother a few medical manuals for an important upcoming surgery she was performing. His ass would be on the theoretical line if he did not get these manuals promptly; a few one-sided, angry rounds of punching bag would be administered. Kotoya trembled just thinking about it.

He quickly scanned the shelves for the manuals he needed, retrieving them and heading for the front desk. The librarian was about to head to the break room for lunch when she saw Kotoya. She subsequently groaned and sat back down. Kotoya noticed this, but pretended like everything was just fine during the checkout process. The librarian bid him farewell with faked sincerity before turning and grumbling something under her breath. He promptly took his leave.

Why is this trip to the library of any merit or worth? That's for you to figure out. But don't think too hard now. I don't want any of you stupider compatriots of mine to blow a gasket contemplating it.
