Not your average meet and greet
Yoshi sat himself down breathing in the morning air. "What a wonderful day to greet the new team" he thought smiling. He pulled out a scroll and read the names on it. "Hmmm Akimichi Kowai and Nakamura Kaito, interesting team so far I must say" Yoshi says to himself.
Then Yoshi stands up and pulls out a picnic basket and a large rug and lays them out on the ground in front of him. "Nothing like a good picnic to start the ball rolling" he thinks before sitting down yet again and awaiting his students arrival.

Mutters and grunts could be heard as the somewhat disgruntled genin walked towards the meeting site set by his new teacher. His fingers fumbled with the piece of paper as he read it over and over again, rolling his eyes with each glance but hiding his heart thumping under his shirt. Inhaling and exhaling were hard enough to keep in check, let alone walking in a straight line both of which were some of those little things people tried to hide when they're insanely nervous. No matter how much he denied it he was completely and utterly excited about taking these first steps into the shinobi world.
Somehow his eyes managed to gaze into the sky, his mouth attempting to hide a small smirk. Only a few steps later he shook his head and stared forward with his mechanical breathing to keep him on some sort of rhythm. His footwork managed to find that straight line he attempted to walk upon earlier, his hands sliding themselves into the comfort of his pants' pockets. Not too far into the distance did he see someone who vaguely resembled a shinobi, at least in Kaito's eyes. He simply shrugged, figuring the person he would soon be calling sensei was at least half-competent, and his comrades would at least be able to conjure chakra.
It took a little restraint from attempting genjutsu from the distance he was at, but he refrained, knowing that a jounin wouldn't fall for some stupid illusion a baby genin cast. Instead, he simply walked over to the designated picnic area and stood just shy of the rug. And there he stood, not saying a single word, only looking at the man. His eyes scanned the shinobi, as if a little screen would appear from nowhere and tell him some type of statistics. Kaito would leave it to others to start conversation, since he wasn't the type to start them.

Yoshi looks up at the boy staring at him and raises a hand in greeting. "You must be Kaito, come take a seat, it's great to meet you" Yoshi says enthusiastically while reaching his hand into the picnic basket. "We're waiting on another yet so eat this while you wait, it could be all you get" he adds holding out a slice of cake.

The strong stench of natto followed closely behind the young Akimichi has he began his way towards the meeting site of his newly assigned team. He was a fresh Genin, getting use to the ways of the ninja, he needed his teacher to show him the ropes and how things were done. He was a newbie all around, just knowing the basics of ninjitsu, genjutsu, with a little bit of an edge in Taijutsu, due to home based training.
The way there wasn't long, and he kept a steady pace, making sure he had enough natto and rice to last him the whole harrowing journey. Another scent soon passed in front of his nose, like a jungle cat, he had picked up the feint smell of a feast. He dropped his chopsticks and gulped down the last of his natto. With a burst of adrenaline, much like that of a mother with her child in danger; he picked up speed as he rushed towards the picnic area, chomping down like a crazed piranha.
As the scent of the food got greater, Kowai got faster and faster. While the end speed wasn't very fast, it was still a bit faster than someone of that frame would have been able to go. He was unstoppable, he wanted that picnic food, nay he needed it. His eyes spun as he entered a mindless rage. As he closed in, he body flickered as he rushed in an attempt to steal the slice of cake.
'Madness. Rage. None of that consumes me, this is nothing more than than the hunger for the taste and sensation associated with a picnic! My team can wait, there are more pressing matter as hand.'

Yoshi notices a flicker around his outstretched arm still wielding the cake. "So Kowai has showed up at last" he thinks quickly throwing the cake back on the rug and thrusting his other arm towards the boy's approximate location. "Nice of you to join us Kowai and in style too, I'm impressed but you know, manners are a very important thing" he says grinning.

Within moments, the other genin of his team decided to arrive with a quick step and a big appetite, racing towards the pastry that their sensei had stashed away faster than Kaito could see. A quick flash of resentment came upon his face before he let his unjustified anger go and simply looked at the both of them. One, a jounin with some absurd personality defunct where prim and proper were commonplace while the other raced towards food like a rumbling rhino. He couldn't tell anything deeper about either of them, but somehow they still managed to get on his nerves. Neither of them seemed to know anything about anything and in his eyes, neither were worthy of any of his attention.
A heavy sigh of disappointment fell from his lips, dropping his shoulders while his eyes made a full circle around their sockets. Overly exaggerated blinks were next on the list of required actions to show his disapproval, but it ended there as he simply glared at the duo whom he was forced to call team members. His fingers fondled the small amounts of lint within his pockets, attempting to amuse themselves as he tried to figure out what he should be doing. Mocking them this early in their relationship seemed too ill-mannered even for him. There was also the option of simply saying how moronic they were, but that too was far outside the realm he liked to think of as a comfort zone. So, he decided to continue with his current tactic, silence.
It wasn't until a half a second later that Kaito realized that the older idiot had mentioned something about Akimichi as part of the other's name that Kaito recognized from being around the village more than he was in his house. When his mother was still running her shop, sometimes an Akimichi or two would come inside and buy a lot, and were always very kind. The young boy then began contemplating on whether or not he should despise the other genin for reminding him of his past, or treating him with some sort of kindness because he could be easily alluded to a better time in Kaito's life. He gave a nonchalant shrug to himself, still having yet to say a word.

A crushing blow had hit Kowai; It was not a physical, it was mental. Failure, defeat, the absence of victory, call it what you will, Kowai was feeling the full effects. Everything slowed down in his mind to the point that the very air was visible. The cake was gone, and it was never coming back, how sad. The imaginary hunger which rattled his stomach only grew with the disappearance of the cake. Though this wasn't the end of it, while he was nowhere as quick as his Jounin master, he was so distracted by the split second realize that he was taken away that he didn't even realize that he he was the target for a light physical strike.
Things slowed down a bit in the young boy's mind. The strike brought him back into the real world. As dramatic as things seemed in his mind, not much time had passed, and it had appeared as if he was caught and stopped. He blinked, "My name?" He questioned, taking the time out to think over the situation. His name was known, this person was obviously as a skilled ninja, and the other fellow seemed to at least fit the part of a ninja, as quiet as he may have been. His eyed widened, he realized that this was in fact his team.
He quickly hopped back, fumbling a bit, only to save himself and get a steady footing. He crossed his arms and looked over to the side, a bit uncomfortable keeping eye contact with his sensei. While it wasn't necessarily embarrassment that plagued him, he just didn't want to start things off with an attempted theft. He sighed and whipped his head back to face his sensei, "Can I give my entrance another shot?" He questioned in a tone filled with a lighthearted nature.

Yoshi chuckles. "Your first entrance was impressive enough Kowai, sit your self down and just because you put that much effort in, you can have that slice of cake you wanted so much" he grinned, Yoshi couldn't help but like the Akimichi clan, they were good natured people, Kowai was no different; Yoshi then turns his attention upon Kaito, "those looks he's giving me and Kowai, looks of disapproval, I can see him being a hard one to get to know" he thinks carefully analysing Kaito. "You can help yourself to something too Kaito" he adds getting three plates out of the basket and handing them round.

Reflexively Kaito muttered, "Idiot," at the other genin's request at a second chance entrance. His eyes rolled again and ended up fixated on the plate that was handed to him, taking it only because of the manners instilled into him when he was young. Another sigh left his lips as he sat down on the little mat that had been set down for them. His plate was as clean as when he first got it and he planned on keeping it that way, slowly inching it away from his crossed legs. His head fell onto his fist, digging his elbow into his leg for some type of support. The day seemed long enough without having to deal with incompetency, and it would seem that this would become part of his daily routine.
In sheer boredom, Kaito stared into the sky, watching the lively clouds float on by as they impeded the sun's rays from reaching them too often. Warmth could be felt on his lightly tanned skin, a wonderful feeling when contrasted with the mental anguish he felt from having interacted with his team for a grand total of a minute. He tried to tune out the other two, listening for anything interesting, a bird calling out to a friend, some other small animals chattering in the forest, or even an unknown stream flowing nearby that he had yet to discover. Unfortunately, he couldn't hear anything even remotely interesting and had to focus his attention back on the two he had hoped so hard to ignore.

A petite blonde strolled lightly in the streets of Konoha, a scroll in her hand. The scroll was held tightly, as if some imaginary wind was going to pry it from her clutches. Wrapped in red dressings and even with the official Hokage Stamp on it, she read it over and over. Her petite hands fumbled with it as she unrolled it slowly, re-reading the contents of the message anyway. After months of applying, she had been assigned a team. She was with two other boys, as well as having a male Jounin sensei. That would certainly be interesting. "Akimichi, Kowai -- Nakamura, Kaito -- and the instructor being Mikihoto, Yoshi.." she read, the words echoing lightly back in her head. She felt somewhat nervous about this. This would be her team until they graduated - if they graduated - as Chunnin. She would have to suck it up and get along with them, since attempting to be a loner on a four-man cell would certainly not be beneficial. Wrapping the scroll up carefully once more, she tucked it into her pouch, before continuing to walk - this time with her head up slightly higher, her posture more firm. "Hokage-sama said that Yoshi - no, no.. - Yoshi-sensei, would probably choose a park-esque area to meet and greet the team.." Kira took this as a sly hint and walked around, until she saw a faint grouping of people in the back. She stood on the tips of her toes - curse being so short - attempting to leer and see who was there closer. She saw.. a picnic table, she believed, and heard the voice of men. "That must be them." she thought. The kunoichi walked up to them, pacing slightly, until she was near them.
The wind whistled slightly, blowing her blonde hair around like crisp leaves. She turned to Yoshi and bowed slightly, giving a slight curt of her head. "I-I assume.. you are Yoshi-sensei.. right?" she spoke quietly, her small voice escaping her thin lips. She examined the rest of her teammates. One boy was certainly... larger than most shinobi. Kira thought on, until it hit her. Hadn't she read about being overweight common with certain shinobi? As a matter of fact.. ah, he must be the Akimichi. Slightly timidly, Kira sat down, her legs folded behind her slightly. Her small, delicate hands laid resting on her pale legs, quietly and intently waiting on what would happen next. She mentally rolled her eyes at being so nervous. Had it been this long that she had gone without talking to a group of people? Pathetic, she deemed. A few mental slaps and her heart rate decreased, her breathing becoming less rapid until it had reached the epitome of normality. Cerulean eyes glanced around to meet her fellow Genin. The chubby boy - whom she deemed be the Akimichi - had an unusual taste of style. His hair was spiked in a mullet, neon green, surely attracting attention to himself. She nodded in his direction, but Kira did no more. The other boy, who she assumed was Kaito, had more natural-seeming honey-toned brown hair, spiked up lightly. After a period of time with silence, she murmured, "I'm.. Kira. Ikeda, Kira.. to be more formal.", loud enough so that her soft voice could carry in the wind.

Yoshi turns to face the girl who had just arrived and smiles at her, "ahoy there Kira, you must be the last member of our team, I am indeed Yoshi, nice to meet you" he places a plate in front of Kira and waves his hand at the picnic basket indicating for her to help herself to some food. "Now we are all here and we don't appear to be very talkative, how about we do a little exercise to ease the tension? All you have to do is tell everyone a little bit about yourself" he says calmly smiling at his students. "I shall start to ease the nerves, I am Mikihoto Yoshi, I'm a Jounin who enjoys the crisp morning breeze and picnics, I don't really dislike anything in particular." he states reaching for sandwich and putting it on his plate. "I'm also not bothered about formalities within the team, I deem us all equal but if you feel comfortable calling me Yoshi-sensei then by all means do so" he adds taking a large bite out of the sandwich. "So who wants to go next?" he asks.

Kowai smiled, "With a bang, huh? It was a mistake, but I did it." He muttered as he rubbed his chin. Having been offered cake and a seat, he wasn't able to deny. He came over with a bit of a stride, after having sat down with the rest of his team for the picnic, Kowai had drifted into another world as he munched on the cake he was given, having said "Thank you." In between bites. He had entered his own world once again, he had forgotten why he was there, for now he was enjoying his cake and enjoying the setting. The sweet and succulent flavors consumed him, he didn't care about the negative vibes coming off of Kaito. He had his cake and he was happy.
From the get go it was a bit obvious that Kaito and Kowai both contrasted each other quite a bit. While Kowai hadn't even noticed that the boy was there, it must have been obvious to those who weren't drifting off in a cake related orgasm. It was only when a third member came into view that Kowai decided to stop slowly indulging. If there was one thing that Kowai liked a little less than food, it was the opposite sex, and the sound of girl's voice was enough to brake his concentration and end his cake orgasm.
As Kowai was about to go on and introduce himself back to the new one, the Jounin who Kowai had already forgotten had begun to speak. A meeting exercise? It sounded silly, but Kowai was afraid that if he didn't answer he wouldn't be able to finish up his cake. He swallowed to prevent himself from speaking with a full mouth, "I am Kowai of the prestigious Akimichi clan. As common with my uh... clansmen, I am a fan of the culinary arts." He replied, showing his natural attempts at adding a little pizazz to every day speech.

"Nakamura Kaito," he responded clearly, moving his fist from his face to further the clarification. His glazed eyes halfheartedly scanned the newest addition to the team, a timid Kunoichi who seemed to have troubles speaking without stuttering. Nevertheless, he would take the shy girl over the eternally hungry Akimichi or the far too informal Jounin. One couldn't really tell what any of them were truly capable of, so Kaito tried to keep his mind open enough to not label them worthless immediately, and decided to continue with what he had been requested to do. "I like rivers, streams, ponds, lakes and most varieties of noodles. I dislike Taijutsu, Katon and as of right now, all of you," he stated in near monotone, directing his words to no one in particular and without actually looking at anyone.
He pre-screened what he was going to say in his head several times before he said it, wondering what information he should reveal about himself, what to withhold and whether or not it was worth it to speak at all. It wasn't until he felt a slight tug in his stomach that he said what he did before heading towards some type of noodle dish that wasn't too far out of his reach. Using his chop sticks, he took a sparse amount that was enough to satisfy the small amount of hunger he felt, and began eating it while awaiting this little pow-wow to end. If it were up to him, they'd get to know each other by some sort of training, because anything less than that was a waste of time. His eyes were set on a goal and the faster he achieved this goal, the faster he could actually enjoy his life.

She glanced down slightly as Yoshi-sensei handed her a plate, offering her food. She placed the plate down, politely shaking her head. Kira was very far from hungry; anxious about her new team, she found she had no appetite. She watched intently as her instructor discussed some "exercise" they were going to do. Apparently, he enjoyed morning breezes and didn't dislike anything in particular. Well, that was interesting. Her blue-eyed gazed turn to the Akimichi, who seemed to be devouring cake with no intent in stopping. The fact that the clan's hidden abilities relied on their weight and caloric intake was a phenomenal feat indeed, but it was surely unorthodox. She watched him swallow - more like gulp down - his cake, before speaking after Yoshi-sensei spoke. Kira was correct - he was the Akimichi. "Culinary Arts? My ass.." she thought bitterly. They were a fan of eating themselves into obesity and cardiac arrest. She paid little attention to him however, her gaze turning to Nakamura-san, who spoke before she could. His voice was clear, but his tone was slightly.. cynical. At least that meant Kira could stop trying to be a cute little girl. She wasn't brash or a rude brat, but she certainly wasn't always so shy and timid. She just preferred her solitude. Kaito spoke; apparently he enjoyed noodles and nature. He hated Katon though. "That would be difficult to work with him then.." thought the blonde, her gaze becoming slightly sharper as the boy spoke. As he spoke his last part of sentence - "and as of right now, all of you," - she grew annoyed. Right, whatever.
Seeing as it was her turn, she slid her hands down her legs slightly, flicking stray strands of blonde hair out of her sight. "Ikeda, Kira. I like books, my solitude, and silence. I dislike morons, people with no skill, and overall unintelligent people," said the girl, her tone bland and lacking any hint of emotion. That certainly was her true personality - no point in hovering behind a pleasant facade to keep everyone happy. They needed to learn how to get along with each other anyway. As a team, teamwork was well.. a basic. It was essential - without it, they would fail. She wasn't sure about them, but the heroine knew for a fact that she would not fail the Chunnin Examinations. Turning her neck slightly, she began to access her team, her mind going into over drive as she made mental notes. "Akimichi-san.. he's probably adapt at Taijutsu, since the Akimichi use their size for physical brutality. He's kinda goofy, so he's probably a show-all-power type of combatant. Nakamura-san is more relaxed and calm, but hates Taijutsu - as do I. At least Akimichi-san keeps us rounded in Taijutsu. Back to Nakamura-san though.. I'm going to assume he's a Genjutsu user, and even if he isn't, he probably knows at least a bit of Ninjutsu.." she thought rapidly, glancing lightly at each member. "If he likes rivers, streams, ponds and things like lakes, maybe he's a Suiton user? Might be a reason why he hates Katon. Anyway.. I'm more of a user specializing in Iijutsu - but that's for defensive strategies and helping. For offense, I'm a mid - far away fighter with my Katon techniques." added Kira mentally. She certainly was good at accessing situations - thankfully, she would be the brains of the group.

Yoshi looks at each of his students and stands up. "Ok now we know a little bit more about each other, lets see what abilities you have, I want you each, in turn to show me your best Jutsu, it can be any Jutsu you know, it's important we each know each other abilities in order to successfully work together as a team" he says glancing at Kaito in particular.

For the time being, there wasn't any food for Kowai to enter different worlds with. So he was sitting there in the real world, prepared to listen. First up after him was Kaito, this boy didn't beat around the bush, he outright and bluntly stated his feelings; which Kowai couldn't help but respect. He took in what the boy said, he wasn't one to analyze someone so in depth, so he stayed on the fact that he just didn't like him. He glanced to the ground for a moment, not wanting to keep eye contact with the fellow, 'Blahahahahahaha... Saw that one coming, I tried to steal his cake, I wouldn't like him if he tried to steal my cake.' He joked in his mind, trying to lighten things up a bit. Feeling at peace he relaxed a bit, 'Taijutsu, eh? Wow, this is some bad luck, this dude is going to hate me by the end of the day, well even more so than now.'
Next was Kira, she lacked the bit of that that attitude that Kaito hadl though there was something about her dull tone that was just threatening. She was also rather blunt in her explanation, after several minutes of deductive thought he came to a realization; she is the smart one. Trough the latter half of her speech, Kowai wasn't paying attention to her; so much as he was just trying to think of what his role was. He stared blankly into the air, taking a quick glance at Kira, and then another one at Kaito, 'The other two here at least seem smarter than me... Aw crap, I was in the bottom of this class, wasn't I?' Echoed through the young boy's mind as he realized he was the dumb muscle.
With that done there was only thing that could have come out of Kowai's mouth, "Whoa, you guys are all cold." He he replied to both Genin's introductions, not saying much else afterward. Things were a bit uncomfortable, the only thing that prevented it from nerve wrecking was the smell of food, so very close. Just when he thought it was over, the Jounin jumped in with something more. He looked to see that the Jounin had glanced at Kaito first, "...Do you really think it's a good idea to have a dude with all kinds of negative emotions against us show us what possibly really deadly technique he is best at?" He asked Yoishi, trying not to keep eye contact with Kaito.

Yoshi looks at Kowai, "you will not be using them on each other for the reasons you just stated, but if you do require anything then I brought a few things along you can use, getting you guys hurt by letting you practice Jutsu on each other on the first day won't go down well" Yoshi says holding his hand out. "Jutsus can be very powerful things, they can seriously harm and in some circumstances kill, you have to utilise them correctly" he adds starting to focus Chakra in his hand, in which a spiraling sphere of Chakra begins to form and spin.
"Take this for example, this Jutsu is the Rasengan, unlike the Jutsus you guys are capable of pulling off this is pure Chakra in a physical form" he continues "let me show you the power a high ranked Jutsu like this has" he says stepping back and staring at a nearby tree. He runs towards the tree at a quick pace and slams his palm into it, the Rasengan bores its way through the trunk and tree collapses due to it being unable to hold itself up. Yoshi turns to face his team and smiles, "so who wants to go first?".

*Rasengan [Spiral Sphere]
A-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisite: Konoha-nin
The technique is unlike other jutsu in that it does not require any handseals, it just relied on the ninja's ability to mold chakra. The ninja concentrates a contained, fast, rotating sphere of chakra in the palm of their hand which can cause much destructive impact. Thus the technique was pure shape manipulation of chakra, unlike most elemental techniques which are shape and nature manipulation.

The girl was blunt, which was a likable feature although he felt somewhat copied. He gave her a quick glance, seeing that she seemed to be analyzing them all, which didn't matter because soon their sensei asked them to perform their strongest technique. He narrowed his eyes until they were barely slits for a mere second at Yoshi-sensei, retracted his glare and began thinking about what he should do. The Akimichi was right to think that pain was what they could feel with Kaito's techniques, but his torture was mental, not physical. Somehow genjutsu seemed inappropriate, though it was a very strong thought as the Akimichi used his cowering words to debate their sensei's request.
Drawing his eyes away from leering at Kowai, Yoshi-sensei began performing some technique. The ball of energy was perfectly spherical, much like his own Water Vortex but on a more compact and damaging scale. Having seen the aftermath of the jutsu, the young genin gained a small bit of respect for his teacher. A quick smile flashed from his face and disappeared before anyone could catch it, then he turned his attention to his teammates. He figured that there wasn't going to be any sort of volunteering going on, except maybe for on the Kunoichi's part. He'd just sit and wait, not saving himself for last, but wanting to know what his comrades were made of before he showed them what he could do.

Blue eyes widened slightly, arched eyebrows raised high. Yoshi-sensei wanted them to show off using their jutsu? She was slightly curious to see how things would turn out. Who would be the most impressive? It certainly was beneficial though. To know the team's strengths and weaknesses would help better prepare them for tasks like missions and even examinations. The kunoichi glanced around slightly, wondering who would stand up and offer to perform first. However, no one dared to do so. They were all too curious in what their teammates would perform, and had no intention in being first. Using an index finger to twirl her golden locks around it, she couldn't help but to give a small snort at Akimichi-san's comment. Cold? Beyond that, honestly. She was tempted to speak - chide him and jeer - but resisted it. Being immature right now wouldn't benefit her at all. Besides, she was getting quite old to be taunting others, even if they were so moronic that they deserved it. Kira's eyebrows raised once more as Kowai spoke once more, who was glancing at Yoshi-sensei. Her eyes were glinting with interest. So Kowai didn't particularly get along with Kaito? Or was he afraid of him? While Kira could tell that Kaito would probably be a dangerous fighter, she wasn't afraid that he was going to murder them or something bizarre and unorthodox such as that. "'Negative.. emotions?' Wow." she thought, pressing a small finger to the bottom of her lip, thinking slightly. At least Kowai understood something about Kaito. Getting him to understand other things... well, things will go one step at a time.
She slammed back to reality when she heard Yoshi-sensei's voice once more, talking to Kowai. Well of course they weren't going to perform jutsu on each other like barbaric imbeciles. That would just leave them all dead and/or injured. Her eyes widened as she saw him extending his palm, chakra slowly swirling in it. She watched in bliss, seeing the blue-colored chakra form into.. almost a ball. Yoshi-sensei spoke and she listened intently. "Rasengan? I've never heard of it... must be a very high-ranking move, especially with chakra like that. It's tough to even hold chakra like that, especially when it's moving like that.." thought Kira, still examining. He stepped back to a tree, before running quickly. As he comes closer to the trunk, the palm with the Rasengan in it thrashes into forcefully, the spiraling chakra making a large revolving dent in the trunk, before knocking it to the ground completely. Casually, Yoshi turned to them and asked who wanted to go first. Unable to hold her immense curiosity, she spoke up. "That move must take a lot of chakra control, sensei. Chakra that free could kill someone easily." she said, her tone still seeming blank, but with an added hint of surprise. Kira turned to look at the others, wondering who would get up and perform first. To her dismay, both males sat perfectly still.
"Fine, I guess the kunoichi is first." she spoke bluntly, her tone cool. Small hands dusted herself off, before she lifted herself up. "I prefer Ninjutsu, so I guess I'll be performing a Katon move." she spoke quietly, uttering them with no hesitation. Arching her back, she jumped backwards, doing a backwards flip a few times until she was a good yard or so away. Facing large, thick trees, she mentally thought of a jutsu to use. Deciding, she stood still. Quickly and agilely, her hands performed a series of handseals as she spoke, "Katon: Endan!". Immediately bringing her hand to her mouth - not close enough to burn, she felt the Katon chakra rise into her chest, before spewing like burning water from her mouth. A thick jet erupted, spraying about four or five feet over the trees, easily charring them and burning them to ash. As she deemed the damage done, she removed her hand, the stream of fire coming to a quick halt. Kira then turned herself to her teammates, moving closer once more. "That's a small taste of my offensive abilities. I do know a bit of Iijutsu, however.."
A small smirk appearing on her faint lips, she reached her hand in the back of her pouch, before revealing a obsidian kunai. Twirling the handle around her finger slightly, she took it, slightly grazing her palm. A thin cut appeared and she picked up a bit of dirt from the ground, sliding bits of it in the cut. "Ah, the power of Iijutsu. Shoudoku no Jutsu." she spoke calmly, performing the required handseals. Quickly, steam arose from the wound and she showed it to her team. The dirt seemed to be gone, evaporating almost. "If you aren't sterilized properly, you'll kill your injured person. Eventually, someone created a jutsu for it -- too many people were dying on the battle field all due to non-sterile areas, which isn't unorthodox for a battlefield.." spoke the kunoichi, her tone being quite cynical and sarcastic. She sat herself back done before casually speaking, "Next.", her head tilting to each of the boys.

Kowai was a bit amzed by what he saw, the chakra was just spinning in his hands, pure control, with nothing silly like hand seals or dances getting in the way. He looked in awe as the simple ball of chakra showed off it’s destructive power; the poor tree would never be able to return home to their family of bushes.
The first up was the girl. Kowai shook his head at the chared remains of the trees, the poor rooted bastards didn’t even see the hellish firestorm coming their way. Her skill in Ninjutsu was impressive for a fresh Genin, and with it Kowai felt a little bit smaller, being the dumb muscle and all. Though the thing that captured his attention the most was her use of medical ninjitsu. It was something that Kowai wasn’t really that familiar with, only knowing a few Doton techniques and the size modification abilities of his clan.
“Next!”
There was a brief silence afterward. Kowai took a loud gulp as he stood up hesitantly, he shoot a small glance at Kaito before he bagan his way over to a tree that wasn't charred, or damaged to the point that it would collapse from a sneeze. He took a deep breath, "I specialize in Taijutsu, it's what I train myself in, so I don't have anything too spectacular to show you all." He explained in the middle of a stretching exercise; all the bending and twisting looking like a silly dance rather than an actual exercise.
Having completed that, he inhaled deeply, closed his eyes. There was one thing he made sure he was to get clear,"This is what I can do as Kowai, not what I can do as an Akimichi." He stated, thinking there was no point in showing the standard jutsu of his clan. Like many Taijutsu specialist, he took on his a certain stance; once he had calmed down a bit he slid into his stance. He stood with his back straight, and his knees far apart and bent, putting him in a bit of a squat, in this squat he opened both of his hands. Kowai opened his eyes and let out his breath as he settled into the stance, as he did so he made two quick open palm strikes to the tree, each making a noticeable and audible thump.
Kowai didn't turn his attention back to the others while in this stance, "Mountain Style; I am a mountain, very few earthly forces can bring me down in all of my glory." He muttered under his breath as he took a strong step backwards with his right foot. With his foot firmly planted on the ground, he bent his right elbow and made his arm parallel to his leg; having done with technique several times in the past, he was able to do it in what appeared to be one quick and fluid motion. Just as soon as he set himself up, he lunged himself forward with a strong step of the foot he set back, as he closed in on the tree he thrust out his arm and slammed his palm into the tree, sending out a noise that just meant business, "Mountain Style! Flowing Stream!" He shouted along side the ruffling of the leaves.
Having just completed his example, he looked back over the team, “Yeah, that turned out better than I thought it would.” He muttered as he loosened his fighting stance to enter a more natural standing position.

Kaito barely lifted an eyebrow as both of his teammates completed their respective techniques. His eyes weren't in their normally glazed state, but his hidden smile wasn't exactly hiding what he truly felt all that well. The girl, Kira if Kaito remembered correctly, seemed to be very proficient in Katon, which was a high contrast to his specialty, Suiton. No matter how much he despised those techniques, the differences in how their abilities worked would be a great asset, especially with the larger one, Kowai and his taijutsu techniques. The young genin had to laugh a little bit inside, getting teamed up with two other shinobi who used techniques that completely and utterly reminded him of his father. What luck.
Slowly rising from his sitting position, Kaito said, "I guess that it's my turn then. As some of you probably gathered," referencing Yoshi-sensei and Kira, "I specialize in Suiton. But aside from that, Genjutsu is my game as well." His words were somewhat connotative of a condescending tone, but the faint wavering of his voice betrayed his somewhat cocky persona. He began stretching his arms and fingers while looking around for a source of water in order to utilize the full strength of his jutsu. Scanning the region thoroughly with his sepia eyes, Kaito had trouble finding anything that even resembled a puddle anywhere near them. Yet another soft sigh left his mouth as he began walking slowly towards a grassy opening.
As Kaito stopped, he turned his body so that he was facing those on the picnic rug once more and began his short string of seals. As they finished, he muttered the name of the jutsu before expelling a copious amount of water from inside of him onto the ground, creating his own lake, or at least what seemed like a lake. The fresh water flew out of his mouth and began spreading out to cover a modest amount of space, cut just short of the three watching him and extending the opposite direction just as far. The water stayed above the surface of the ground, resting beneath Kaito's own feet. Feeling somewhat accomplished, Kaito explained, "This is 'False Lake Surface', a jutsu I use when there isn't a source of water around me. Now I'll show you 'Water Vortex'."
Performing another set of intricate hand seals, Kaito focused his chakra into his hands, drawing the water from around him into his own spherical jutsu. The 'lake' seemed to be clearing up and retracting into the spiraling vortex that laid in front of Kaito's own palms. Rushing water simply whirled and twirled until a perfect sphere rested about a foot off the ground, as Kaito began to further explain his technique. "This jutsu is used to trap foes, and for those who are in here too long, pass out." He decided to keep it short and to the point as he released the second jutsu, only to allow the water to fall back onto the ground and revert back to the false lake surface he had created before.
Attempting to inconspicuously strut back with a smile, Kaito sat back down where originally had and waited for further instructions.

† Nisei Komen [False Lake Surface]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
By performing the few needed hand seals, they will expel water from their gullet that covers about ten square meters. The water is imbued with chakra so that it doesn’t get absorbed naturally by dirt, sand or any other organic materials so it lies atop the surface of the ground. This gives the illusion that the user has created a small lake to fight upon. No chakra is required to walk upon the water, but for those who attempt to walk upon the water will slip and slide.
* Mizu no Tatsumaki [Water Vortex]
C-ranked Ninjutsu
Prerequisites: Must be fighting on top of water.
Mizu no Tatsumaki is a Ninjutsu technique that utilizes water to create a spinning water vortex around the ninja. The water acts both as a barrier and attack mechanism. No one is able to stand within or above the vortex aside from the user. Anyone caught in the vortex who fails to escape after two posts will be knocked unconscious.

Not your average meet and greet
"Excellent work, all of you, this has to be one of the most interesting teams I've seen yet, Kira you have the Katon affinity and Iijutsu, making you a pretty well balanced individual, Kaito, your Genjutsu and Suiton affinity makes you pretty good at water combat which Kira would not be so good at with her Katon Jutsus and your Genjutsu can keep people distracted and off-guard for Kowai to use his Taijutsu" Yoshi says looking at each of the young Genin in turn and smiling, he had the feeling these three had great potential providing they could work together. "You three have great potential, even more if you work as a team, I have a very good feeling you will all go far and on that note you can all go home now, if anyone wants to take the food home with them" he winks at Kowai, "then go ahead, it's a shame to waste it, consider it a gift from me" he concludes picking up his rucksack.
