[Mission] Paint Me Pretty
[Mission] Paint Me Pretty
Night was slowly curtaining the day as dusk set in over Konohagakure. It was a quiet, peaceful evening in the village; it was that time of the evening where people were settling in after a day's worth of activity.
However, one Chuunin had no such luck. He stood near the Konoha Memorial, his eyes shifting back and forth as he waited for something. The man, although tired, stood at attention, only looking away to check his watch.
"Hm, they should be arriving any time now, and then maybe I'll be able to get some rest," he murmured to himself, yawning afterward.
Forcing his tired eyes open, his gaze was drawn down the path that lead to the memorial.
"I really hope that's them," he sighed. The chuunin pulled out a piece of paper with a mission briefing written upon it, preparing himself to get this over with.

A stakeout? What a joke. Surely someone should of figured they could use his bloodline ability to create some new trees or something simple. Staying up all night just to catch some kid wasn't really something Minoru considered the real deal. It didn't matter though. With Haidou tagging along it would probably become a series of events in which the orange-haired Senju tries to prove his worth to his new mentor. Obviously failing to do so.
Whilst strolling down a street of Konoha near the Konoha Memorial Minoru double tapped his pouch and pockets to check his equipment. While it wasn't an accurate check or what have you the sounds were enough to reassure him he had brought enough. He had no idea how much shuriken it would take to bring down a kid defacing Konoha buildings. He had no idea whether he would actually have to hurt the kid or not.
Shortly thereafter the Genin reached the meeting location. On site was a Chuunin who seemed pretty much tired but alert at the same time. Minoru on the other hand only had slight bags under his eyes. Even if he didn't like staying up he had pushed himself through it multiple times if only to try and further his abilities in some wierd way. Stopping next to the Chuunin the Senju waved his arm half-heartedly while giving off a sort of sleepy smile. "Hey, I'm Minoru."

"Haidou."
The jounin walked just a few steps behind Minoru, glancing at the chuunin with an inscrutible expression. He dismissed the child mentally, gesturing towards the buildings with a sneer. "Get out of here. It's past your bed time. Past mine too, but that's one of the joys of being an adult; all the responsibility, none of the freedom" He shrugged, his second and third chins beginning to jiggle slightly when he did. "Alright, Minoru. You know the job, and you know what I expect from you. If I catch you sleeping on the job, you'll wake up with your hair on fire. If you get distracted, I'll paint this memorial myself; red sounds nice."
His hands smoothly folded into the ox sign, followed by the boar, and several others; his body plumped out, his stomach becoming nearly twice as large, and his arms and legs retreating inside his girth. Within moments, all that could be seen was a perfect circle, colored a light gray from Haidou's trenchcoat.
"Focus, kid."

~Baika no Jutsu (Multi-Size Technique)
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
Baika no Jutsu is a Taijutsu techinque used by the Akimichi clan. Using this technique the clan member can alter the size of their body. Highly skilled clan members can alter the size of their body to a large scale with little trouble. When the clan member changes the size of their body, it uses up body calories. Because of that the clan members will usually be seen eating high calorie diets.
~Nikudan Sensha (Human Bullet Tank)
C-Ranked Taijutsu
Nikudan Sensha is a Taijutsu techinque used by the Akimichi clan. After using the Baika no Jutsu technique to modify their body into a large sphere shape, the clan member draws their limbs into the main spherical body. Next they launch their body into the air and begin to spin at a high rate of speed. Launching himself at the target, the fast spinning prevents most incoming projectile attacks from landing, instead they bounce off with little effect. Any direct attack the opponent uses with their body would result in the crushing of their attackers bones.

"And I know my job, sir. I'm supposed to brief you before I leave and I'm going to do just that under my official orders." Although he tried to sound respectful, the chuunin was irked by Haidou's manner.
The man unfolded the paper with the mission briefing on it, looked at it, and promptly crumpled it up.
"You know what, you do what you're doing and now I'm going to go. Just make sure that you stay quiet and alert. Have fun," he said before marching off, not giving the two a second thought.
The dusk sky was darkening and several small stars were already beginning to twinkle. At least the weather looked like it would hold up for the pair as they waited for the vandal to appear. Nonetheless, there would be little to do but sit and keep a keen eye out for any suspicious movements within the memorial's vicinity.
[OoC: I figure a boring round of posts of you two just waiting will be in order before we get to anything good.]

[Mission] Paint Me Pretty
Simply nodding in response to his sensei's short statement Minoru crouched slightly. Haidou seemed to have figured out his own style of stealth, something which the orange-haired kid struggled to come up with at first. Hopping through the crouched position the Genin leapt straight up to the height of a medium-sized tree, allowing him to grasp hold of one of the thick branches. Swinging through the grapple into a simple flip the boy landed on top of it in a simple stood up position before lowering himself. Positioning himself behind one of the bushy leaf structures in a concealed manner he simply looked towards the multiple buildings which were fortunately positioned in front of him.
Collecting his hands together into positions of seals Minoru began to focus chakra throughout him. First bringing his hands into a bird seal position, through into a dog seal and finally the snake. Once finishing the combination a series of small wooden tendrils spun up around his body. Placed around him perfectly the tendrils then dropped inwards to cover his being, disguising his body as a simple upturned tree stump. Quite simply making his body unnoticeable.
Stood within a wooden log type thing disguising him Minoru continued to perform the classic stakeout. It was pretty boring to be honest. Waiting for some failure who took time out of their sleep to paint memorials seemed a waste of time. Even if he had brought something stupid along like those new dangos he saw in the store on the way would have spiced things up a bit. What a shame.

~Mokuton • Ki Henge no Jutsu - [Wood Release • Wood Transformation Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
By performing the hand seals, the user of this technique causes several waves of wood to grow out of them and then circle around them, coating them and then changing shape to match that of the target. This Henge can survive some impact save that of a Katon technique, but it lacks the ability to mimic cloth well, making pre-made disguises a needed aspect of the technique.

[Mission] Paint Me Pretty
Haidou had never been a patient type, and sitting here trying to see anything through his ample, augmented rolls of fat was even harder than it would've been. He could almost feel himself smirking at the young chuunin they'd run across, that had somehow been tricked into this job. Of course he'd had protocol to follow, like every other shinobi; Haidou, however, had learned a time ago that protocol was simply a guideline, one that people had been known to get around frequently, and even without punishment. Maybe after today, the kid they'd run across would realize that sometime Konoha didn't know what was best for the mission. Sometimes, no one but the man in the heat of the moment, trained to always keep his wits about him, could possibly know what was the right thing. And sometimes, the pencil pushers would hate them for doing what didn't seem logical, what didn't make sense, but in the end the job would be done, and much better than it would've if the shinobi had been 'logical'.
So lost was the Akimichi in his own mind, thinking of what the little shit they'd replaced was doing right now, and what he might've learned from this day, he almost lost track of time. It had easily been ten minutes since he'd trailed off, and he couldn't be sure if the child had snuck by while he was distracted. There were no sounds from Minoru, so he could be reasonably sure that they were fine; he'd never admit it, but he trusted Minoru a lot more than some of his fellow Jounin. The boy seemed quite intelligent, and he was always trying to work out new ways to solve problems. In a few years, there might be something for Haidou to really make use of. For now, he had to settle for a slightly green, very hopeful, and very rough Senju with a long ways to go.

Haidou was more than correct when his thoughts wandered onto the fact that Konoha didn't always know what was best for the mission. Their mission was a prime example. A Senju and an Akimichi posted on a stake-out, waiting for what was likely a mischievous, maladjusted child. The talent was no doubt more suited for a mission with a little more... pizazz. Yet, there they were, making themselves scarce as night took hold overhead.
Although it was tiresome, the duo's wait was not in vain. Something was about to go down at the memorial that night.
Across the vacant grounds around the memorial, footsteps could be heard approaching. The footsteps had a particular quirkiness to them. They were light footsteps, and had a pattern to the way they paraded down the path to the monument. The most distinguishing feature to the presence's footsteps was the sound. Clack, clack, clack... high heels?
The shadow of a slender figure grew larger as it came closer to the monument. Its body was cloaked in a long, black cloth that seemed to bulge at the front, as though something was concealed beneath it. If this was the culprit, they weren't being very inconspicuous about what they planned to do.
The figure approached the monument and stood in front of it for a moment before crouching down. It set down the items that were hidden under the cloak; two paint cans and several paintbrushes of various sizes were deposited in front of the memorial.
Whoever it was, they didn't seem suspicious of anything in their immediate surroundings. The person stood up, the hood of the cloak concealing his or her face.
"You will be grand," it began, "and I will see to it that you will recognized as a masterpiece." The voice was feminine and crazed, but it was also muffled by the cloak, which made it difficult to discern the gender for certain.
Again, the figure crouched down, but this time its intention was to open the paint cans. After doing so, it took a brush and dipped it into one of the buckets.
"Blue will make you beautiful," it said, watching the paint drip off of the brush and back into the bucket. Taking a second paintbrush into its other hand, displaying rather obvious ambidexterity, it dipped it into the other bucket of paint.
"And red will make you radiant!" the figure cackled. It didn't approach the monument with the brushes yet; it remained crouched, taking deep, heaving breaths of the paint smell.

[Mission] Paint Me Pretty
For the most part Minoru's stance within this little wooden log creation was a slouch. Waiting around definitely wasn't his style and it was quite literally hurting his back to do so. On the other hand as the loud clicks of heels rung out into the area, slightly hollowed within his wooden log cover, Minoru almost immediately jumped up into alert. Peeking through the small circular hole he made whilst creating the log the orange-haired lad simply watched. It seemed that this was the person, evident by their paint cans and brushes.
However he couldn't just go straight at her or him, it could of been a skinny guy dressed as a woman... Anyway, the target hadn't began to paint yet despite the clear intention to do so. Tapping his hand gently against the inside of the wood log the strips of Mokuton powered wood making up its shape began to drop and unfold quietly. Moving his hands back straight into the fierce tiger hand seal the boy's eyes didn't shift from the target. Remaining in his crouched position Minoru continued to fluently shift his hands through the tiger seal into the dog seal before gracefully slipping them into a snake hand seal.
Once finishing the hand seal sequence the young Senju began to focus chakra into the top half of his right shoulder and hip. Suddenly two beams of jagged wood emerged, collecting at a certain point almost in a manner reminiscent of mud. Continuing to combine and fold into each other the wood gradually began to take on the shape of a man. A shape perfectly identical to Minoru's. Once releasing the sneaky snake seal his hands were comfortable settled in the wood took on the exact appearance as Minoru, even shading his rather unique orange hair to the dot. It was, quite obviously to any of those who could see, a clone. However he made sure no-one could see by tactically positioning himself behind the bushy tips of the tree.
Knelt completely still Minoru's clone suddenly boosted himself off the log. Like a classic ninja only a single leaf and a quiet blur of wind was the only trace of his movement as he neared the ground. Landing on the tip of his toes the beating sound of the clone's feet was dulled out, allowing him to freely move behind a small set-up market stand near the monument.
The plan was to wait for the target to begin defacing the monument and then move in. The best attack option was most likely the technique Minoru had developed which sends a flurry of wooden splinters at the target. While the splinters weren’t particularly damaging the gentle sting and annoyance of wood being stuck in skin would be enough to slow down the criminal of an artist. This would, hopefully, give the real Minoru enough time to restrain the target. It was a pretty straight forward plan. The Senju never was particularly good at plans unless he was under pressure.
However he felt he had a need to stop this person before they began to wreck the monument. If he remembered correctly too the actual assignment was to stop them from defacing the monuments again. Nodding over towards his clone the wooden copy suddenly sprung onto its feet and began to pace itself towards the painter as quietly as possible whilst still maintaining a decent speed. While running the clone positioned his hands through a series of seals. Moving fluently through three before throwing his hands open and forwards.
Skidding to a halt the clone stood with his open palms facing the criminal, who was by then most likely aware of his presence. All of a sudden his whole arms transformed back into their original wooden material beginning to split into multiple thin parts. All of a sudden the wood jumped from its position, as though the push of his arms directed the jump, in the form of long thin splinters. Eventually reducing the clone's arms to nothingness after the barrage of spikes. There was no doubt in Minoru's mind that at least a handful of few dozen projectiles would hit. If they didn't though it would leave Minoru in a rather unfavourable situation.

[OoC: Yaksha and I decided to skip his turn this round.]
Oblivious to the happenings around her, the figure remained indulged in her preparations. It wasn't until the clone had emerged and begun its assault that the artist realized that there was danger afoot.
A pained yelp sounded from the figure, its cloak falling back with a jerk of its head. Despite the apparent insanity, the artist was a pretty, black-haired, fair-skinned woman. Her brown eyes were wide as she stared down at the splinters poking out of her arms and several that had pierced her torso and abdomen. Pain sharply throbbed in every place the splinters had embedded themselves into, but the woman was much too frantic to give up her cause yet.
She moved toward the monument, paint brush in hand, and held it dangerously close. Tears welled in her bloodshot eyes and her body shook as the pain and insanity gripped her further.
"I bet you're here to keep my masterpiece from being complete," she hissed, unsure of who she was talking to. "Make one more move, and I'll do it." The paint brush, still wet with blue paint, shook in her hand as her eyes darted across the memorial's grounds. It looked as though negotiating or trickery would be in order if Minoru wanted to keep the woman from defacing the monument.

[Mission] Paint Me Pretty
Thankfully the cloaked figure seemed unaware of what was going on around them. Even the fluent and rather quick movements of the clone went unnoticed. However he was trying to go unheard after all. What was even more positive was the fact that his attack hit. Splinters covering a decent area of both arms could be considered pretty serious situation usually depending on the following actions. By continuing to move the shrapnel-sized pieces of wood would only wriggle under the skin deeper and creates more risks such as infection.
However there was something that surprised Minoru enough for his eyes to go into an usual stance. They slanted slightly inwards and gave him a sort of confused yet focused look thanks to the beady shape of them. Weird eyes. Senju inheritance probably. It was the fact that the woman was rather beautiful that surprised him. It would have been much easier to beat up some baldy no-good teenager who had been getting kicks out of rebellious actions. Unfortunately it was a woman who seemed to be focused on finishing this piece of 'art' and she was in Minoru's will. The monument too. What a pain.
Then, something that he expected less than her beauty happened, she pushed him into a situation of options. Haidou always taught Minoru that there was going to be some sort of sacrifice in these situations. Within this one there seemed to be two potential options: Deceitfully take her out with the use of another clone, which would pretty much exhaust Minoru's chakra. Or go along with her and convince her that the wounds created by the splinters would shortly become infected beyond repair, which wasn't completely true but believable. The potential sacrifices? The monument could easily be decimated and the woman could slip away with some luck. It was a tricky situation.
It didn't take long for Minoru to decide though. Rather than going for one of the two obvious plans another tactic slipped into his mind. For now, he would negotiation his way through this mess. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have another trick up his sleeve. Something that would push the woman's current state of insanity straight into the depths of a mental breakdown. "Alright, I'm going to come out. Don't do anything stupid, please."
Hopping from his position within the tree Minoru fully revealed himself before the artist. Despite it being quite late and him having no sleep his face was happily youthful whilst his figure of tamed standard shinobi muscles didn't show thanks to his clothing. And, even after spending a good couple of minutes within wild life, his attire seemed to be completely spotless and presentable in a fashionable teenage style. The tricks of a Senju most likely.
Holding his hands in front of him in a cupped up position in preparation for use just encase Minoru smiled lightly. It’s a well known thing that most Senju inherently have quite strong negotiation skills under pressure, something which ran way back to the clan's founder who used the same skill to bring rivals together to form Konoha. "Relax. It's alright. I'm not going to hurt you anymore you just need to take it slow and put the paintbrush away so we can talk this through. Okay?"
Her face contorted as the pain continued to throb throughout her body, but her will outweighed her suffering. The woman listened as she heard her assailant speak out; when he appeared, her wide eyes scrutinized his every contour.
"A child? Do you not like beauty? Art? Life!? This is my life; art, beautiful art. You want to prevent such abstract artistry from being complete? What a fool you are!" She remained frantic, but her face clenched every now and again due to the pain. The option of convincing her about the splinters didn't look to far-fetched given her reactions. Still, the woman remained unmoved by Minoru's words, and gripped her paintbrush a little tighter.
"You've already bombarded my beautiful body with your sick splinters and then expect me to drop my paintbrush; what more harm could you possibly do to me?" she shrieked at the boy. Tears were rolling down her fair cheeks as she grew closer to lapsing into complete insanity. Despite the fact that she remained firmly rooted in her place, her shaking was growing worse and it was clear that she didn't have the strength to keep it up much longer.

[Mission] Paint Me Pretty
Minoru waited for the woman to face him before slowly moving his hands through seals. For the most part it would of been fairly difficult for someone who knew hand seals well to figure out what he was doing but to an insane and teary eyed woman Minoru guessed it would be much harder. Even if she did have some advanced knowledge of hand seals she seemed too shaken up to even bother to take notice of his hands.
Continuing to comfort the woman the young Senju fluently yet slowly pressed through his seals whilst talking. Gradually moving into the first seal of the sequence Minoru stopped to talk to the woman: "I understand but you have to level with me here." Halting to move his hands slowly into yet another seal the Genin continued to speak. "Please don't cry I just..." Suddenly slipping his hands straight into the final position a sudden rush of chakra streamed throughout Minoru. However it settled after using the technique, which seemed to have no effect at first.
As time went on though the smell of rotting flesh and decaying bodies become more apparent. Eventually the smell rose to levels so strong it would be hard not to vomit or let out a cough or two. Upon further investigation it could be discovered that the woman was the source of the smell which bizarrely no other people around could tell. The genjutsu was pretty much perfect for this situation as it would place her under much more mental stress than average. Something she was already rather burdened by. Although Minoru did feel sort of bad for doing it his same old personality was something that would constantly push him to further his career. Besides, she'd be better in some sort of hospital home right?
"Sorry, but life is the only art I paint."

It was starting to look bad for Minoru. The woman was gradually drifting closer to the monument with the paintbrush, as though she was holding it hostage. The young Senju's words were wasted on her, and it looked as if negotiating wasn't going to work. Stressed and close to breaking, the artist glared at the boy with utmost loathing.
"You don't understand--none of you awful shinobi understand. You just do what you're tol-" The woman was cut short as the smell hit her. At first she gagged and let go of the paintbrush to hold her hands over her nose and mouth. Her gagging continued, but instead of vomiting, the woman collapsed to the ground. The smell had been too much for her already unstable being to handle, and she promptly fainted as a result.
The paintbrush left a rather noticeable blue splotch on the ground where it lay, but not a drop had gotten on the memorial, which meant success for the genin. The woman would be easy to apprehend now that she was unconscious, and with the monument saved before the break of day, Minoru would surely be applauded.

[Mission] Paint Me Pretty
As the woman fell Minoru rushed over caringly towards her. Trying to catch her before she fell the Senju missed, his movement slowed slightly by exerting his chakra for the duration of the mission. Skidding to a halt next to her as she hit the ground the Genin crouched down onto one knee, making sure she was okay with a quick glance at her face. It was only then did he notice the terrible look of insanity yet some sort of innocence on her face. What a waste.
Turning back to look for Haidou Minoru let out a light-hearted smile. The events that had just passed were pretty heavy and emotional. The orange-haired kid was looking for his sensei to come and ruin the sense of emotions in the air, something which could easily be expected of him.
Eventually Minoru stood up from his kneel and run the length of his right arm's sleeve across the bottom of his nose. Forcing in the swelling of emotion, allowing him to speak. "Job done."

Haidou hadn't been able to see the fine details from within his rounded form, but he saw enough to know that Minoru had finished the job with startling ease and stealth. The target was nearly untouched, certainly not hurt, and Minoru hadn't let so much as a drop of paint hit the monument. His body began to deflate as his arms and legs extended outward again, until he was standing just above the genin and the mad woman that had made all of this happen. He reached into a pocket, pulling out a cigar, and chomping down on it savagely. His voice was slightly muffled as he spoke, but the faint squeeze he gave the Senju's shoulder said it all.
"You've got a lot of promise, Minoru. Now if you can just learn to deal with a shinobi instead of a civilian."
