Quote:Seiken scratched his head.Kage Bunshin no Jutsu [Shadow Clone Technique]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the needed hand seals, the user creates multiple (to a maximum equal to their stamina) clones of themselves. These clones have 1/Xth of the user's chakra, where X is the number of clones made plus the user. This means that the user also loses that much chakra to use the jutsu. The clones themselves have substance, so they are able to interact with the environment, unlike the standard Bunshin no Jutsu. The clones poof after one hit.
The last pitiful attempt to make a clone produced something you'd probably see in a Tim Burton film: the poor clone was missing one of its legs, its left arm was handing by a thin layer of skin, and it was missing half its teeth. He looked back at the scroll his sensei had given him. This was a ninjutsu, right? He was the ninjutsu specialist for his 3-man cell, wasn't he? He looked back up; regardless of how he tried to look at it, he just couldn't put his finger on what he was doing wrong...
He dispelled the clone, then sat and focused on his chakra flow. He knew from his examination of the scrolls and from previous knowledge on the technique that he had to give part of his chakra to the clone to make it self-sustaining. He channeled 1/10 of his total chakra reserves into his next attempt:
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"
The results were barely any better than the multiple attempts over the course of his hour-long venture before now. Multiple body parts either shoddily constructed or missing; all in all, a complete waste of chakra. Seiken gritted his teeth, then took a few deep breaths to calm himself. 'I can't let myself get angry; that will just worsen the results. Focus...' He popped a soldier pill into his mouth, then focused his chakra as he chewed. He figured that his chakra distribution was off, so he decided to try more. He siphoned off 1/8 of his chakra for his next attempt:
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"
Once again, the clone was pitiful. Seiken nearly threw in the towel when he realized something: this clone was considerably more stable in its construction. Still unusable, yes, but its limbs were still more firmly attached and its entire build was more solid. 'Finally! I think I'm starting to get somewhere.' He popped yet another soldier pill into his mouth and chewed. His next attempt would be a bit more taxing: 1/6 of his chakra would go into this clone. He focused his chakra:
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"
This clone showed some considerable improvement; it was even more stable than the last one. Just then, the clone's leg quivered, and it took a limp forward. Mobility! Finally, Seiken was making some progress. Still...
He checked his pulse. This was some rather tough training for a B-Rank technique, and if he wasn't careful, he could black out from over-expenditure of chakra. He popped two soldier pills into his mouth this time; he had to keep his chakra reserves high. He decided to make a big jump: 1/3 of his entire reserve would go into this next clone. He molded his chakra and made the seal:
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"
He took in a sharp breath and started coughing. The effects of such a large chakra loss wasn't quite what he was expecting, and it caught him off guard. He looked up after a few breaths, praying each second before. His eyes were greeted by a reasonably well made clone with the same physical characteristics as Seiken. Still something seemed off...
Seiken had the clone do some menial tasks and soon found the problem. The clone lacked the same amount of aptitude that Seiken had. This could only mean one thing: the clone needed even more chakra to maintain its stability. Seiken grunted as he popped four soldier pills into his mouth and chewed. He knew it'd probably be somewhat dangerous to commit too much more chakra to making a clone, but still... this technique had far too many tactical advantages to just give up on, and if he could get this technique down, he could effectively double or even triple his effectiveness in the field.
He rested for about ten minutes, then focused his chakra (for the umpteenth time today). He called the medic and asked him to be on standby; 1/2 of his total chakra reserves was going into this clone and if something bad happened because of it... he figured he could use the insurance.
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"
Seiken could feel each breath becoming harder to make as the chakra flew from his body. The jutsu finished at last and Seiken knee momentarily gave out from exhaustion. Still, through the fogginess, he realized that there were two pairs of hands helping him to his knees. 'Okay... either the medic has another two arms I know nothing about, or... Seiken looked up.
On his right, supporting his shoulder was a well-constructed shadow clone.
He couldn't help but smile, despite his fatigue. He finally had the basics down. Now for making multiples...
He took a breather for about 20 minutes and got back most of his chakra reserves. Now, he knew that the amount of chakra that one dedicated to the technique was relative to the number of clones one was making, so if one is making two clones, then it would be reasonable to assume the chakra is split equally among them... right?
Slowly, he focused his chakra once more. He was getting used to the symptoms of severe chakra loss, so he could train more steadily from this point on. For this next attempt, Seiken had to do a few calculations in his head. If one clone required one half of his chakra reserves and chakra usage was relative to clones made, then that would mean his next attempt will require about 2/3 of his chakra. 'Eek... Man, this is gonna hurt,' he mused woefully as he channeled the charka:
"Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"
The next wave of exhaustion was more intense… but he did it: two perfect shadow clones.
'Phew,' he sighed. 'I think that's enough for one day...'
