[Mission] Paranoia

"Oh my..." A sharp dressed and elegant man paced about back and forth, alone. something seemed to be biting at his mind, as he bite on his finger nails. He looked around every so often, like a crazy man, or a paranoid one. He seemed to be rather impatient, getting sweaty only from pacing about, rather, from the worry. He was told to wait there for the genin that were to protect him. He wasn't sure what to think of genin protecting him, but the higher ranked nin were being used to hunt down the people after him. It shouldn't be too hard, all they have to do is survive the day, right?

Kuro burst through the door. "Hey, are you the old man I'm here to protect?" Kuro was eager to start and had forgotten he was being paired up with a partner. "Where are we off to?"

Conserve your energy. Don't draw attention.
Yōsei repeated the advice she had received from her brother.
If I run over, he might think I'm attacking him. But walking seems so slow it's painful.
Always used to running, Yōsei accidentally exaggerated her sluggish pace. Onlookers might have thought she were playing a game, or that she wasn't quite right in the head.
At least I have time to look him over without seeming rude...He's dressed well, but biting his nails is kind of gross. I guess he's worried...and highly sweaty...The situation must be pretty dangerous.
It was about two minutes after the man first entered Yōsei's sights that she reached him. By that time, the other genin had arrived.
Did he really just call this guy old?
Yōsei sighed, suddenly feeling rather unenthused about her mission.
It seems like it's going to be a long day...
"I'm also here to protect you. My name is Yōsei."

Kuro noticed a smaller girl approaching them. He stopped to think who she was until he fully remembered his mission. "You're late." Kuro smiled at her. "My name is Kuro."

"O-Old man?" The man's worries seemed to go as he was in shock, surprised by the young man. However, he refrained from saying anything once Yosei appeared on the scene.

"Ah!" He was much more relieved now. The two genin that were to accompany him had arrived. "I'm glad to see the two of you here. Please address me as Toguro-sama. My first order of business is to head to my office and check up on things. We can take a shortcut by taking the alley at the left, but it's such a confined space..." He gazed out ahead, slightly towards the left, as if trying to tell them that one of them should go take a look to make sure it's clear.

Kuro looked the old man. His head was titled to an alley. Kuro wanted this to be over so he could train for more important missions. He ran towards the alley and looked inside. There was no one there. Kuro, while doing this, realized that he was hurrying this for the wrong reasons. His mission was to protect the old man and he should be on the look out for enemies. He looked into the alley again. There was no one there. He looked up. No one. He turned his head back looking at Yōsei and Toguro Ossan. "The coast is clear."

Let me get this straight, Yōsei thought, after hearing the man speak. He claims to have been threatened, but decides to return to his office, where his enemies might be expecting him. Not only that, but he wants to take a small alley to get there.
Yōsei was careful to keep her exasperation hidden, not wanting to disrespect the man. That would certainly have made him less likely to cooperate and his cooperation would be key to the success of this mission.
"Toguro-sama, are you sure you want to go to your office? Those ruffians could be waiting for you there..."
No matter what he decides, I suppose I'll have to do what's necessary to protect him.

"I need to pick something up of value that is there," The man replied to Yosei's question, "I can't let them get it. I'm certain the two of you will be able to help me go in and out quickly so we can be on our way."

However, before they could go, a trash can that was in the alley suddenly fell over with a thud as some ruffling was heard coming from the direction of the shady alley. Was it indeed alright to pass through there?

"Stand back." Kuro said immediately after hearing a noise from the alley. He reached for his sword on his lower back in case it was an enemy. He did not look back at the man and the other Genin and put his concentration in front of him. Kuro stared directly into the alley and waited for whatever made that noise.

If we wait for whatever's in the alley to come out, we'll be here all day, Yōsei thought, growing impatient as the seconds passed. I guess it's up to me then...
"Kuro, keep an eye on Toguro-sama. I'll check things out up ahead."
That said, Yōsei headed for the alley with a kunai in hand. Her senses were alert as she combed the area, carefully searching for an enemy or traps. Despite her impatience, Yōsei's pace was slower than normal, ensuring that she wouldn't miss an important clue in her search. Also, just in case the enemy wasn't looking her way, Yōsei attempted to be as silent as possible.
Now who...or what...could have made that noise earlier? Come out, come out, wherever you are...

Kuro let go of his sword when he looked back at Yōsei walking towards him. She was being impatient and wanted to handle the alley herself.Kuro was a bit grumpy. He felt he was being bossed around by the other Genin but he did not say anything as doing would result to an argument and leave Toguro-sama even more nervous. He walked back to Toguro-sama as Yōsei walked to his position. Kuro also noticed that despite her impatience, she was walking slowly and with kunai in hand, she was ready for anything. Kuro was a bit relived that his teammate was handling things carefully.

He approached Tugoro-sama. "This'll take just a minute, Ossan."

As the two ninja swapped, the noise was heard again as a trash can fell over. The racket made Toguro jump and take a step back as he begun to look around nervously. He tried to settle down a bit once Kuro was next to him and told him that it would only be a minute. As Yosei entered the alley quietly, she would find that there were no traps laid about. In fact, as quiet as she was, it was even more quiet in the alley itself. So silent it had to make one wonder if there was even anyone there at all. In truth, there wasn't. The source behind the noise and the falling trash can was nothing more than a cat, which also happened to jump out suddenly in front of Yosei.

Kuro turned his head back again and saw a cat running out of the alley. Yosei walking behind it, also came out of the alley. He looked at her face and could tell from her expression that the alley was empty after all. Turning back towards Toguro-sama, he grabbed his arm. "Lets go Ossan. We can go get that thing you wanted now. The alley is safe so don't worry."

Yōsei almost launched her kunai at the cat when it first jumped out, but held back at the last second.
You're lucky, furball...
Having seen no traps or enemies, she walked back out of the alley to let the others know. Before she could speak, it seemed as though Kuro had read her thoughts in her expression.
"He's right, Toguro-sama. One of us will stay in front and the other behind you, just in case."
That said, Yōsei took the lead, not wanting to be stuck at someone else's pace. She was sure to keep a wary eye out for surprises as she walked.

With the scare past them and the alley checked and cleared, it was indeed safe for them to go through. Of course, it didn't mean they could slack as the office building came into view once they came out on the other side. The area was as quiet as the alley had been and the office seemed to be abandoned.

"The office is closed today," Toguro explained, "My office is in the second floor. I need to get my papers, which is part of why they are after me. We must retrieve them quickly, please escort me upstairs." He asked as he stood by the entrance to the building. It was up to one of them to enter first and check things out.

Kuro kept his guard up even as they approached the office. He did not want to ask Toguro-sama about the papers and how they were related to the people after him because it would make him nervous and Kuro did not want that again. Kuro was standing in the back while Yosei was standing in front. He leaned his head over to trying tell her to check things out. "I'll stay here and protect him. Just call us if its clear." He told Yosei.

Yōsei surveyed the building from the outside and considered her options. She then turned to Toguro-sama.
"What if we went straight up to your office out here and entered through the window?" Yōsei asked. "I could check it out first; this way we would know if anyone was waiting inside."
Besides, the longer we stay here, the more likely we are to run into his enemies.

"The window?" The man looked up as he thought. It would surely be different and possibly unexpected. "If you can get us up there, then go ahead. Let's do this before we are spotted." The man took a few glances around nervously, making sure no one was around, not like he had any talent to actually spot any ninja.

Kuro nodded in agreement. Their might be someone waiting inside so he waited for Yosei who was check the window for enemies. He saw Togoru-sama panicking. "Lets go Ossan. It'll be fine." he told Toguro-sama giving a gentle pat on his back to try and calm him down.

((Othfx... I don't see Tamer's character saying it's clear, just so you know. In fact, she hasn't even climbed up yet -_- ))

Once the young, female nin climbed up, she would find that the office itself was pretty dark. The lights were out, the place was closed after all. It didn't seem like there was anyone around, everything was quiet.

Kuro looked up at the window where Yōsei was standing. As Kuro was waiting for a response from her if it was clear, he started to notice that things were really quiet where they were. It seemed as if no one else was around except for them was around.

"Can we go in now?" Toguro asked as he was beginning to feel uncomfortable outside. He took out a key from one of his pockets and held it up, "I can open all the doors, so that won't be a problem."

Kuro and Toguro-sama both walked inside with Kuro behind Toguro-sama. "We're here for some papers right?" he asked.
"Grab them and lets go" Kuro felt that if they stayed in there too long the people after Tugoro-sama would come and so was in a hurry to get out.

The inside of the building was quiet, the hallways dark as the lights were out. Toguro was a bit nervous and he couldn't explain to himself why the hell the genin was standing behind him? Regardless, he needed his head when asked about the papers and then pointed to a door on the right, second to last in the hall.

"That's my office," He said as he stopped a few feet away from the door. He was afraid to move on anymore, feeling a bad vibe. It was probably best that Kuro took a look to make sure everything was weird, though he should be really careful. One didn't know if there was someone inside or if they would even make it past the door itself as something peculiar could hardly be seen around the knob. Perhaps if they shined some light and looked closely, they could see what it was.

As Kuro and Tugoro-sama came in, the old man pointed out the door to his office. He looked afraid to go inside himself so Kuro decided to check it out first himself. Leaving the window curtain slightly open to get some light, Kuro reached for the doorknob of the office.

As the genin reached for the door, the object that was hardly visible now became clear as to what it was. It was a wire that had been wrapped around the door knob. Where did it lead? It lead to an explosive tag that was right above the door. The trap was triggered as the tag ignited. Kuro would only have a few seconds to make sure he and the old man were alright as the tag would soon set off.

Kuro hadn't a second to waste. He turned back and grabbed the old man with his left hand and burst through the window as quickly he could with his right hand. He had Tugoro-sama's face covered with his left palm to avoid any window shards.

Kuro and Tugoro-sama were out of the building but at the moment, they were floating in air. Kuro started channeling chakra to his feet and jumped in mid-air heading towards the ground. He held his chakra concentrated on his feet to ensure a safe landing.

By channeling chakra into her feet and releasing it in a short burst in the middle of a jump, Kuro is able to, "jump again", increasing the range and height of their leaps. They can also use this to change direction in mid-air.

The genin's quick thinking allowed for the two to escape the blast unharmed. However, they were both outside the building once more.

"Thank you," Toguro uttered, shaken from the event. "I... I suppose there is no need to go back there now. My office has probably been leveled by the blast. Well, at least this way no one gets the papers." The man sighed out as he brushed himself off. "You know what, just take me home and we'll call it a day. My house isn't too far away from here, just two blocks up from around the corner there." The man pointed eastwards as the corner was in full view. The escort was almost over.

Kuro sighed. Tuguro-sama seemed like it was over and didn't seem as scared or afraid anymore now that those papers were gone. Making sure first that the old man unharmed and could walk, he let go of him slowly to the ground.

Kuro let Tugoro-sama lead in front again so he could protect his back and avoid any attacks from front as well. They both walked closely next to each other until they reached the old man's house.

Upon reaching the old man's house, they spotted a figure standing outside. It was another ninja, a chunin judging from the vest. He approached the two.

"Toguro-sama, the men whom were after you have been caught," The news came as big relief to the man and should be to the genin as well. It meant his job was over. The man turned to face the boy whom had protected him and saved him.

"Thank you very much for the help you've provided and for saving my life. You can go knowing that you've done an excellent job."
