[Mission] It's a bird, it's a plane!... nope, it's a bird

Post by Mortalvis » Sat Oct 09, 2010 8:42 am

It was early morning in Konoha. Sun, a breeze, some birds; it was a lovely day, but Lady Azaikai couldn't enjoy it alone without her precious pet. She sat on the floor of her home, makeup running down her fair face from hours of crying over her swan's disappearance. It was a creature she deemed beautiful enough to be in her presence at all times, and without it there, she felt like she had lost part of her elegance.

Outside of the house, a chuunin official stood alert, waiting for the hired help the village had issued to their situation. His eyes scanned up and down the street, hoping to catch sight of either the shinobi that was assigned to the mission or, if he was lucky, the swan that was missing.

"I didn't think we even allowed swans as pets..." he thought to himself as he waited.

A swan for a pet, eh? That would be sooo cool!

Shu walked over to the chuunin official with a doughtnut in her hand, stuffing her face. Sorry, I'm late I had to- She paused for a bit then continued, Would you like some? Waving the doughnut at the official's face.
Without waiting for an answer, she finished her doughnut with another bite, licking the chocolate off her fingers.

Anyways, what does this pretty swan look like and where should I start looking?

"Er... you must be Senju, Shunbo," the chuunin official assumed. He eyed the doughnut she munched on and shook his head slowly as he was offered some of it.

"Hold on." Disappearing into the house for a moment, the sound of a hysterical woman crying and something glass breaking was heard, and the official returned pale-faced.

"...Lady Azaikai is, um, glad you're here. Anyway, about that swan." He cleared his throat and wiped the nervous sweat from his brow. "Looks like any other swan. White bird, a beak, wings, legs... you know? This one's got a bow tied around his neck, though. Apparently comes to the name Beppin."

Pulling a picture out of his pocket, he handed it to Shu. It was a swan, alright, but this was a boy swan? Well, either way, it was a pretty animal that was unfortunate enough to have a gaudy blue bow tied around its slender neck.

"We've been getting news about some wildlife-related disturbances up by the academy, which could be Lady Azaikai's pet. Think ya can handle going up there and taking a look around? Get goin'."

A bow? Haha that is cute.

Shu snatched the picture from the official's hands. Beppin, eh?, she said with her eyebrow raised, Don't worry Lady Azaikai! I'll get your swan safe and sound!

Shu left the two and headed out, glaring at the picture in her hand. First place to check is by the academy so Shu headed off to in its direction, walking all casually.

Just then, a swan flew over the young Senju's head. It swooped down low, disturbing the genin's hair as it did so. With a loud squawking noise (or whatever it is you'd call the sound that swans make) it kept flying, meaning that the little ninja would have to make haste if it were to catch the beast.

Shu heard the squaking (or w/e) and looked up to see what it was. ...Is that Beppin? She looked closer to see if she could spot the bow on its neck. HEY BEPPIN, GET YOUR SWAN-ASS DOWN HERE! She shouted at it trying to get its attention and started preforming handseals just in case the swan looks down at her. If it did, the swan would feel its wings feel asleep. Shu was prepared that if the genjutsu was successful, she'd have to run over quickly and catch the falling bird. She wasn't exactly sure if genjutsus work on animals, today was a good chance to find out.

After performing the hand seals and making eye contact, the opponent feels their arms, and legs fall asleep. It feels as if the blood flow to these appendages has basically stopped, making their movements a tad sluggish and just all around uncomfortable. This jutsu doesn’t really hinder a person, but it makes everything the do feel off. For those who are atuned to the way their body feels during battle, it can be extremely distracting. But, the swan didn't turn around. He just kept flying. I mean, it was a swan, what reason did he have to turn around midflight and look down at some kid? "Sqwuak!"

The bird then landed on a building off in the distance, just out of view to clean its feathers.

...D-don't ignore me!

That didn't work out for Shu and just sort of irratated her. Calling out 'Beppin' didn't work at all and now it had flown over to a building futher ahead. But Shu wasn't going to let the bird get out of her sight. She saw where the bird was flying and that was exactly where she had to go and so, using the the great speed she was ever so blessed with, Shu ran after the bird as fast as she could. There was no way a bird would be faster than her.

She saw the bird ahead of her, on top of a building, and started climbing up the building from the side.

The noise of the child running up the wall startled Beppin greatly, and the bird flapped his wings to rise up into the air. It took off again, and began flying out over the building. "Sqwuak!"

Shu pushed herself faster by every step till she was at the top of the building only to see the swan flying away again. She continued on running over on the roof and jumping from rooftop to rooftop to remain close the bird, until it would land again.

If you flashbang the bird, it would most likely become disoriented and fall to the ground. Birds, even large ones, are very fragile. It would probably break at least a wing. Are you sure?"

Beppo landed on top of another roof, but the large bird was alert, and looking around. It would take something other than charging blindly to snag him.

Shu saw the bird land on her another roof and locked her eyes on it. She wasn't going to let it escape but she had to try something different this time.

She preformed some handseals and shunshin'd on top bird instead, grabbing on it tight incase it flew away. Don't you try anything now....Beppin!

Just for future reference, make sure you don't assume you succeed in your actions. You have to give the other RPer a chance to react. :p
Beppin, upon feeling the human's dirty hands on him, turned and began pecking at the child's face. He also flapped his wings relentlessly in an attempt to free his body from the child's grip. "Squack! Squack!"

Shu didn't like many things and being pecked wasn't one. It hurts. Not wanting anymore, Shu ran the way back as fast as she could. She held the bird tightly with both arms and held its beak with her left hand as the ran. She obviously wasn't as fast getting back with the extra weight, dealing with an annoying bird like that along the way but she sucked it up and did the job.
