The room at the mission request building was nearly empty, save for a few straggling ninja who were waiting for their teammates to join them. Posters of wanted Missing Ninja line the walls and a younger looking woman sits behind the desk with a slightly fearful expression. Standing in front of her, seething with rage, is Arashi. Slamming his fist on the table, he growls, "What do you mean, I cant accept that mission? Those people are from the same group that killed my parents, aren't they!?" The woman just shakes her head. "I'm sorry sir, I don't know. Please, you're disrupting the peace." Arashi frowns and looks around at the others before stomping off to a corner to relax.

Seiken yawned. Man... what a day to be called in on a disturbance.

Supposedly, the young man that Seiken was being sent to "calm," as the message had so eloquently put it, had been there for nearly half an hour, trying to argue his applicability to pursuing a missing nin. They weren't expecting that the genin would become rash or unreasonable, but they were sending him for "safety's sake," yet another excerpt from the messenger hawk's scroll.

As Seiken strolled towards the Hokage's office, he couldn't help but wonder why they couldn't have just gotten a chuunin to take care of the whole shebang. Seriously. It's not like the kid had a freaking bazooka or anything. Still, a job was a job... and the jounin was gonna have fun doing it.

Opting not to use the regular entrance, he instead quietly scaled the wall outside of the offices main hall, where the posters were being displayed. As he silently slipped through the window, he spied the only person matching the description given to him on the scroll: a wiry young tyke who stood directly beneath him as he stood on the ceiling over twenty feet above.

He couldn't really see the kid's face. For now, he'd wait it out and see if the genin had another spazz moment.

Arashi felt a chill on his neck from somewhere, but couldn't place it. Looking around, he didn't see anything out of the ordinary. He sighs before walking up to the desk and looking at the woman behind it, noticing her jump a little as he walked up. "So, who DID take the mission?" He asks curtly, glaring around the room in case the one taking the mission he wanted was still nearby. The woman shivers a little. "S-sorry sir, but, I can't tell you that. Please, if you're not going to request a mission, please leave." Arashi glares at the lady, slightly pissed, but knows better than to harm her. "Fine, but trust me. I WILL find out who got the mission. And I will make sure I'm there." As he walks out, he kicks a nearby chair into the wall.

Seiken's goofy grin faded a bit; that malice in this boy's voice sounded awfully familiar...

He couldn't really do much about the dude intimidating the secretary, but considering that the Senju had a monopoly on all wooden furniture in the village, it seemed a shame to let a hand-crafted seat be so ruthlessly damaged. As the chair started flying towards the wall, the jounin dropped down and caught the chair by its back. "Now now, my dear boy... good chairs are hard to come by these days," the jounin humorously noted as he set the chair back down gently on its feet. "What's got your undies in a twist, bud?"

His goofiness took over. No need to be all serious and make the situation worse.

Arashi was in no mood for jokes and games. Glaring at the newcomer, he starts gathering his chakra in his feet in preparation to run. He knew the man was stronger than he was, but there was no way he was faster. "Well, old man," he growls, "I don't see how that's any of your business, now is it?"

Seiken mock winced. "Ouch," he sighed, rubbing the back of his head. "I know I have white hair and all, but man... Guess you wouldn't believe I'm only 25, would you?"

The jounin had gotten a good look at the boy's eyes. Only now did he realize what that burning drive was behind them: revenge. It reminded the jounin of someone else from long ago.

Maybe it was time to get serious.

With a small sigh, he shook his head, his demeanor becoming more serious. "Trust me, young one. It isn't worth what you'll have to give up."

Insert eerie silence here.

Arashi starts a bit, surprised by the mans words, then smiles grimly. "Really, well...that's too bad. Well, nice chatting with you. Peace!" He then tears towards the door, throwing the door open wide before tearing off down the road at top speed.

Seiken grinned. This just might turn out to be fun.

Looking at his watch, he counted. "I think a five second head-start should be fair," he muttered to himself humorously, looking at his watch. As the last second rolled by, Seiken broke into a regular sprint. As he approached the main street, busy as it was with people, his eyes were still on his target. Making a few seals. he started jumping atop one of the awnings.

For the sake of humor, Seiken dropped back down for a moment and snagged an onigiri that was being sold at a stand, smacking both enough and a tiny bit more than what the food was worth on the counter as he whizzed by, jumping back up onto the awnings as he bounced around like a monkey on steroids.

Within thirty seconds of passing the onigiri stand, Seiken had more than caught up to the genin. In a most comical fashion, Seiken let his legs do all of the work as he casually started popping small pieces of his snack into his mouth. "Wonderful day for a jog, ain't it?" he questioned nonchalantly, still munchin' on his goodies.
JutsuShow
*Fuuton • Fuu Suke-to [Wind Element • Wind Skating]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, the user is able to 'glide' on air as if they were skating on a rink of ice. This allows them to move faster (+1 speed) while traveling or fighting, but lowering their accuracy a great deal, effectively lowering their taijutsu by 1. This doesn't allow them to fly, but rather just travel over things with greater ease, such as water, land, and ice.

Glaring to the side, Arashi nods. "Sure is, old man," then slaps together a few handseals, focusing on the spot in front of him. As soon as he finishes his seals, he jumps, rocketing through the air, then darts to the right in the middle of his jump.

Jutsu UsedShow
*Fuuton • Kaze Chakushu no Jutsu [Wind Element • Wind Launch Technique]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
After completing the proper handseals, a small (but big enough for a human), circular, and tightly packed gust of wind forms right at the feet of the user. The moment it is leaped upon, it sends the user or whomever had jumped on it flying in the direction corresponding to the direction they had jumped on it in. It's quite spring-loaded and can send an average-sized person over fifteen meters. It disappears after one use. Be careful, though. This power-packed little wind-spring will send whatever is set on it flying away.

*Bai Chouyaku [Doubled Leap]
D-Ranked Ninjutsu
By channeling chakra into his feet and releasing it in a short burst in the middle of a jump, Arashi is able to, "jump again", increasing the range and height of their leaps. They can also use this to change direction in mid-air.

Seiken raised an eyebrow as he bounced off the walls in an alley whilst ascending to the top of the building. 'Impressive,' he thought as he crested the building and once again caught sight of his target whom was several stories below. As he jumped from building top to building top, he kept a watch out for any potential escape routes that the boy might think to take.

He also made a few seals and discreetly made a clone out of sight; this one hung back in the shadows, silently tailing the target from a safe distance.
JutsuShow
*Ninpou • Kage Bunshin no Jutsu [Ninja Arts • Shadow Clone Technique]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the needed handseals, the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to the user's stamina). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies, not illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed.

After running for a few minutes, Arashi sits to rest in a back alley, keeping an eye out. He wasn't used to his opponents being able to keep up with him, that was sure, This meant that the man was a worthy challenge, but just who WAS he, he wondered. Shrugging, he sits back and closes his eyes. If the man was looking for him, let him. Arashi would find some way to get out, he was sure.

Ah, if only the boy hadn't stopped moving, he might have gotten away.

Seiken (on the roof) and his clone (now silently slipping up behind the young genin) had cornered the unsuspecting Arashi. Neither of them moved for a small moment; then, in unison, they became a coordinated flourish of movement. The clone rushed forward and, after grabbing the boy by the scruff of the shirt, threw him straight up into Seiken's waiting grip. Still grabbing him by the back of his jacket, Seiken slowly slunk the genin down on the rooftop. "Alright, hot-top," Seiken chided as he knelt in front of the young man. "You bolting through the crowds of the village isn't gonna solve jack-squat. Why not move past your pride and tell me your story?"

Finally... time for some answers.

Arashi glares at the man, growling slightly. "Give me good reason to, old man. How bout you let me go, THEN we'll talk. Not like I'm gonna bother running away again anyways. You've already proven that that little friend of yours down there can move pretty fast. One of you is annoying enough, two just makes me want to puke." Arashi then looks around and spits down in the alley, hoping he hits the clone.

Seiken mock winced as the clone dispelled moments before the spit wad would have hit him. "Ooch. You certainly know how to drive a hard bargain, sonny. Your haggling etiquette is immaculate, by the way," the jounin wryly noted before acquiescing to the genin's request, setting him down.

Even without the contact, Seiken could sense the waves of rage and killing intent emanating from the young boy like the waves hitting the shore. "So... what's your name, dude?" he asked, hoping to get some sort of explanation for this series of shenanigans.

Grunting, Arashi sits and leans back, doing his best to not look at the man. "You know it's best to introduce yourself first." He snaps. He stares at the sky for a few moments, letting some of his rage drift away with the clouds.

"...It's Maigo. Arashi Maigo."

Finally. The jounin was getting some results.

"Arashi... that's a strong name," he noted. "I suppose I should return the favor. The name's Yasashikaze Seiken."

The jounin found himself a comfy spot on top of the roof's parapet. "So... what's got you all twisted?" he asked. Seiken had already proven his superiority. This kid wasn't likely to be going anywhere any time soon.

Still staring up at the clouds, Arashi sighs. "Well, where to start...

"I was born in a small town out on the plains. They were normal people, or so I'm told. No ninja, no real warriors, just average farmers. A little while after I was born, the town was attacked. Raiding party, nothing special. However, there were a few ninja in the group. Konoha ninja were in the area that day, so a few of us escaped. My parents were slaughtered though. A couple of the nin decided to adopt me, probably out of pity, and raise me as their own. They learned what happened from the other survivors, and told me everything as I grew up.

"This went on for several years, then my new parents got a mission request. It seemed the same raiding party was attacking another area, and they had more ninja this time. I was left home alone with a neighbor to care for me while my parents finished the mission. A few days passed, and still no word. Finally, one of their teammates came back. He was half dead, and didn't last very long. He was able to tell what happened though. They were overwhelmed, both my parents were dead, again.

"Now I find that the same group is holed up not too far from here, and they wont give me the mission! I should be at least included in the scouting group. I just want the chance to take out the man who killed both sets of my parents."

By this time Arashi is standing at the edge of the roof, knife in hand, glaring out at the woods. He doesn't think of the man standing next to him, and only wants to find something to slash. Suddenly he snaps his head back. "I know!" he shouts. "Why don't you teach me? You're really good, right? Maybe if you give them the OK, they'll let me go with!" His eyes are wide, hope filling him as he thinks of the chance to take out his family's murderers.

Seiken's expression seemed to darken slightly as Arashi dispensed on his story.

The jounin was taking everything in about the young man as he divulged his past to him: the way he gripped his knife, the grating sound of his voice as it strained to contain his resentment from losing his parents, and the glow of hatred that seemed to constantly be smoldering behind his eyes. Seiken remembered that hatred well... and he remembered what it almost turned him into.

'This is bad... really bad,' Seiken reailzed as Arashi recounted his tales and proclaimed his desire for vengeance.

His sheer worry for what the boy might become had caused Seiken's gaze to harden. It had been quite some time since he had faced those feelings and vanquished them himself. He hadn't really been alone, either; Yuki had been there, leading him through despite how harshly he had treated her. The jounin had learned much about forgiveness and compassion since then... but was he truly qualified to quell the hatred of another?

The jounin sighed. There was only one way of finding out.

Leaning back up from the ledge he was leaning on, he broke his silence as he slipped his hands into his jean pockets. "Before I give you an answer, tell me this, Arashi: why do you think the administration wouldn't want you on this mission?" he asked pointedly. His manner was not harsh or insinuating; his demeanor seemed more to request Arashi's thoughts and obseravtions on the matter.

Maybe, just maybe, Seiken could do this.

Arashi started, almost dropping his knife, then thinks for a moment. "Well, I suppose cause I would die. My head would likely be sent back as a warning, or maybe just a joke. They'd likely throw my body in the river, or worse. But that's not right for those guys to do. They shouldn't stop me just because of the risk. It's my decision, not theirs." Arashi finishes, looking slightly less angry and just a little bit peeved, obviously not caring that he just blatantly stated that he expected to die.

Seiken shook his head. "While that's certainly true, that's only one of several possible outcomes," the jounin pointed out. "Think, Arashi: what happens to the people who go on the mission with you? And don't say that won't happen; no genin makes it five feet outside of the village gates without at least a chuunin escort. What happens if and, more to the point, when you lose your cool? Sure you die, but there's more to it, Arashi. There's always more. Your death could compromise the mission. It could lead to your escorts dying. And, most importantly, they could escape. Not only would your vengeance not be fulfilled, but they'd simply cause others to suffer. Besides, your vengeance won't do much good when you're dead, young one."

He put his hands to his sides. "And consider this: you may have dominion over your own life, and you may feel that you have the right to determine the futures of the men in that raiding party... but what right do you have to condemn your own fellow shinobi to death with your hasty actions? How is that justice?" he asked pointedly.

If there was one thing Seiken knew how to do, it was how to ask the hard questions, the ones that made people rethink their own course. It did not matter that he spoke to a young boy; Arashi would receive nothing different from him.

Arashi sits, thinking. "I know, but...wait. You said no GENIN gets out of the gates without an escort...what about Chuunin? Or Jonin? If I become one of them..." His mind starts racing as he thinks of the possibilities, then he rethinks the jonin's words. "I guess you're right."

He stands, pulling a small stone out of his pocket. Looking at it, his face suddenly flashes with anger, and he chucks the stone as far as he can, shouting "FUCK ALL!" as he does. He then stands there, breathing heavily.

The jounin shakes his head. 'He still doesn't get it,' she thinks as he reaches into his pack, pulling out a small plastic tube. Within the water lay a black orb, a glass bead filled with ink.

"There is something more you're missing, Arashi," he stated as he set the vial on the ground in front of him. "What's more, it's not something I can tell you. You must realize what it is for yourself. Now... take a look at the container here. This little tube, this small vial, represents you. Break the bead and see what happens."

Hopefully, this would get Seiken's point across.

Arashi looks at the tube, then at the bead. He squats next to it, confused. "Uh...how?" he asks, then pokes the tube, not sure how to break the bead without crushing the tube. "If I break the vial, which you say represents me, just to break the bead...then what does that prove? That I have to break myself? Or if there's some trick to it, then what is it? I'm not seeing the point."

Seiken nearly facepalmed at his confusion. Did he really have to walk him through it? "Arashi, just bend the tube. The sides will constrict and shatter the bead," he coached the genin, still waiting for him to see what would happen.

Yeesh.

Arashi picks up the tube. "Oh, I get it. Well, here goes" and bends it, chuckling as the bead shatters.

(OOC: This isn't the end of the social. If you get confused as to what lesson Seiken wanted Arashi to learn, hit me up on Chatango.)

With a tiny crack, the bead cracked and split into many pieces... and the black ink quickly spread through the vial until it's contents were pitch black.

"Your task is to answer these questions," Seiken called back over his shoulder as he headed towards the edge of the roof. "What did that bead and that ink represent? And what is it that I'm trying to teach you with that vial?"

Seiken turned towards Arashi, his back facing the streets below. "When you can answer that question... then, and only then, will I teach you my technique."

With a short hop back, Seiken flicked a small slip of paper on the roof before dropping down into the streets below. Arashi would see his snow white hair moving through the crowds.

The note was a reference number to a scroll in the Hokage's archives... and signed permission by the jounin to access his personal information.

Arashi picks up the vial and paper, then runs to the Hokage's office. When he arrives, quickly reads through everything he can find on the old man. His history, what he's known for, even his rank. Determined to know what this man wanted, he keeps reading until he finds something familiar: A dark past. After reading about what this man almost did, Arashi walks home. Sitting at the table, he stares at the vial for a while. Frustrated at what he's been shown, he gets up and starts pacing. The hours turn to days, and soon three weeks have passed. Looking at the vial, Arashi knows in his heart that the man is right. That, of course, isn't going to help matters. Picking the vial up, he shoves it in his pocket and runs out of his front door.

Running across the different rooftops, Ara finally sees his target: A calm looking white haired man with a young face. When the man opens his eyes, Arashi knows he's found the right man. Those yellow eyes were unmistakable. Grinning, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out the vial, then rears back and throws it as hard as he can at the back of the man's head.

Seiken had been having a slow morning, but it was finally starting to pick up. He was just about ready to meet up with a friend, one he hadn't seen for quite some time. Hopefully, they'd have some time to sit down, share some good tea and have a few laughs before Seiken had to go on his next mission.

The sound of footsteps from a nearby rooftop and a small object whistling through the air caught the jounin's attention. With a quick back step, Seiken extended his hand and caught the object. He blinked for a second after he realized what it was. 'This vial...' he realized, his eyes slowly following the path over which the small tube had flown. 'Then that means...'

His eyes finally set on Arashi and he allowed himself a wry grin. His eyes certainly looked much different than from before. "So... you finally figured it out, eh?" he called, ignoring the few odd looks that were shot their way.

Arashi smiled back, yelling, "Yeah, now c'mon old man. You promised to train me, didn't you?" then jumped off the back end of the building, running across the rooftops as fast as he could.

Seiken had been doing training of his own. That young man's speed had impressed him and he decided to pay homage to it by increasing his own dexterity. He now easily kept stride with the genin as they both danced across the rooftops. "That might be true... but words are cheap, Arashi," he countered, flying through the air and across the sides of buildings. "If you want my technique, you've gotta show me that you've learned."

With that he halted and simply gazed over to the Hokage's office, the same young secretary walking into the main lobby. If Arashi didn't know what he had to do by now, the training would mostly likely be dreadfully long.

Following his gaze, Arashi sighs. "If I have to, Ji-Ji." Grunting, he jumps off the building and walks into the office, quickly catching up to the woman. He taps her shoulder and steps back as she jumps in surprise and spins around.

"O-oh, it's you again. Um...sorry, but I still cant let you take that mission,"
she says quickly, backing away.

Arashi nods, then bows. "It's fine. I wanted to...apologize for what I did then. See, I've been thinking, and I know it's not your fault. You're just following orders." He then stands back up straight and smiles. "I hope you can forgive me."

Seiken's smile grew warm and almost fatherly as he watched Arashi swallow his pride and apologize to the young secretary he had frightened when they had first met. For being so young, he had come a long way in just a few weeks.

Oh, if only Seiken had been the same. Even when Yuki had helped him to see the truth, he had still had been so unsure. Actions were made and words were said, things that Seiken regretted and knew couldn't be undone. There would be those who wouldn't forgive him for his heartlessness during that period in his life... and he'd have no choice but to accept their hatred in full.

Still, he could at least focus on the positives in the situation. As Arashi presumably returned to Seiken, the jounin simply nodded. "You have done well, Arashi..." Seiken complimented, turning to head back towards the streets below. "Come meet me tomorrow at 0800 over in the training fields... where we will begin your training, as I have promised."

With that, the jounin's speeding form headed towards the other side of the village, a satisfied grin on his face as he went about his duties as a shinobi.

Smiling, Arashi looked at where the man's white hair disappeared.

Don't worry, old man. I'll do you proud.
he said before running off back towards his house.
