[Graded]Another Day in Fire Country

Post by Castiel » Thu Mar 31, 2011 1:49 am

The field was barren, except for the grass that covered the earth in every direction, and a single nine foot pole sticking out of the ground. This is where he would meet them, the place seemingly well out of the way for something as simple as a team meeting. He thought it a good choice, for that exact reason, there would be no distractions from other Shinobi or the daily hustle and bustle of the village. It was a nice day overall, the sun was high in the sky, there was only a light chill in the wind however the breeze was refreshing all the same. Sitting on top of the wooden beam in the field, Hiyato held a small book within his hands, eyes seemingly glued to the pages as if there was some sort of secret to be found.

It was not curious to see the Jounin, garbed in the traditional navy pants with his father’s ANBU jacket, reading in such a place. Shinobi were often seen doing many odd things, in many odd places; this was simply one more thing to add to the list. A sigh and a simple turn of the page, he was already bored with this waiting game, even though he was the one who had to show patience. His Byakugan which he activated quickly saw nothing for several meters in either direction, though he knew it would not be awhile anyways before they arrived. He had seen the files on both of his teammates, that’s what worried him.

An Inuzuka and a Senju this was going to be a handful from what he knew. The Senju, was a mentor and personal friend. One in which he was excited to finally work with as an equal. One who also has kept him in check from time to time, when Hiyato needed it most. The other however was going to be trouble and he knew it. He was a loud mouth and had a sort of God complex about him that the young Hyuuga didn't want to involve himself in. The nice part was he had many hours before he would meet them so he would take the time to read for a while and rest his thoughts.

"Hmm.."

Mutual unexpectedness was the best variety. It was as if there was some sort of critical mass for awkwardness, and with all parties involved contributing to the mundane strangeness, it was easily hit. That was the point where most people laughed, feeling a bit silly, or perhaps to cover the nervousness triggered by a bit of surprise absurdity.

Omaru Naoe was not most people; nor was he paying the scantest bit of attention to his surroundings as he ambled across that same barren field. In the grand scheme of contemplation points in Konoha, the emerald field was near the top. For Naoe the site's value stemmed almost wholey from nostalgia, memories of a time when he was so young he could hardly concieve of it. It was a wonderful place to find a bit of loneliness, something he often craved in those bygone days.

He had no team to meet; many referred to him, with varying degrees of irony, as a one-man team. There was truth to the appelation, surely, not only born of his kage bunshin tactics but his isolation. It was neither stigma from the community or the tendencies of a lone wolf that held Naoe seperate. It was as if he were simply out of phase with normalcy, ostensibly there but not there at once. Curiously enough, this place reminded him of his genin era when he had been part of a team.

Even curiouser, that team had included a Hyuuga.

Inspiration had driven Naoe away from the village proper this day. His gait was one of inexorable distraction, for as he walked, he jotted with a pen in a much dog-eared and abused notebook. It was open perhaps three quarters of the way, the spine resting in the open palm of Naoe's left hand while his right... well, wrote. He was not at the stage where he would actually attempt to wring a poem from his thoughts, merely a stage of intellectual incontinence where he continuously poured out as many words as he could think of that pertained, even tangentially, to the theme he wished to explore.

Today's theme was forgiveness. The words was carved a bit bolder and larger at the top of the page, and below it, in no particular order were: heart, bitter smile (salt?), cycles, crystals, spirals, regret, forget, remember. His pen continued to work, bleeding out his mind on the page.

Hiyato and his white eyes would likely notice Naoe's approach from the treeline long before the special jounin realized he was about to be an intruder. In fact, provided that the Hyuuga didn't say something or do something, the inexplicable young man would march right up to the pole, only then pulling his gaze away from pen and ink to realize the reality he was only partially part of. His garb was typical today: denim as sturdy as he, a gray sweater, soft and comfortable, the three-quarter sleeves of which revealed the tattoos that marked his arms. His most notable quality, though, was his eyes, but not for any kekkai genkai. His were encircled, surrounded, caged in by tribal markings like black clawmarks in a world without angles.

[Graded]Another Day in Fire Country

Post by Castiel » Thu Mar 31, 2011 2:34 am

The silence he enjoyed was short lived when he was approached by a young man, though he knew he was coming long before he was here. Continuing to read as if he was not aware of his presence, he turned the page to the next B.I.N.G.O book entry, as if specifically looking for someone. He didn't know why, but he had a feeling that if he was still alive out there, he would have ended up in this thing. Though, his heart sunk when he realized he had not, which meant that he was biding his time. With a sigh, he closed the book slowly, looking down at the younger male with a passive gaze. “You’re not quite what I was expecting…” he said, going quiet after he spoke.

Scooting off the edge of the beam, he soared to the ground slowly, landing with a dull thud. Reaching back behind himself slowly, he would store the book he was reading away in his back pouch before returning his hand to his side. "I was wondering how long it would take someone other than who I intended to find this place, though it seems the others I am waiting for are a bit held up." he said, looking around. The day was already starting off so slow, he felt mildly bored by this. He took this little window of opportunity to examine him, the clothing he wore, and any weapon he might be carrying. JReally? Jeans, and a shirt. Quite casual and restricting for a ninja…he wondered how he could even move.

"Are you any good with that?" he asked, pointing to the pen and paper. After staring for awhile with no expression, he put on a smirk.

Those casual and restricting clothes served a purpose, of course. Naoe was not a creature of whim. Not looking like a shinobi was something Naoe needed to be capable of. If it weren't for the forehead protector (worn on his forehead, due to the same dearth of whimsy) proclaiming his allegiance, he could have been any wanderer with a notebook. The only evidence of weaponry on his person were a few holsters for senbon and kunai- hardly intimidating. De rigeur, really. Even the guaged ears served a purpose, playing into his innocuous disguise.

The words tugged his green eyes from the page. He had just finished inscribing ash in his list. His features, handsome nearly to an extreme, registered no surprise whatsoever to find the jounin where he'd hoped to sit. They registered nothing at all, in fact, remaining slack as Hiyato fell to land before him. He met the Hyuuga's milky gaze without even a flicker of emotion across his unresponsive face. His left arm, the one marked by three black rings, fell to his side, closing the notebook as a matter of course. His right lifted, sliding the pen behind the same ear.

His gaze wandered slightly, methodically, taking in the other man with as little effort as possible, dividing his body into quadrants and cataloguing each. When Hiyato asked his question, the staring contest ensued. It was not artifice on Naoe's part, rather, a simple condition of his being. The manifestations of emotion that other people couldn't hide were a baffling mystery to him, at least as far as performing them went.

But then the man smiled. Smiles Naoe understood. They were like the common currency of social exchange, along with eye-contact. An odd smile, a bit mechanical, twitched to life on his full lips.

"I doubt I could ever earn a living writing, but I am told I have some skill." Since he was working on poetry, Hiyato had to be referring to poetry. If he wasn't, well... eventually they'd get there. "We have not met." Fact. "I am Omaru Naoe." Fact. His voice was as empty as his features had been, lacking in the tonal qualities that carried so much information. Along with the flat introduction, he offered a formal-but-minimal bow at the waist. "If this is an inconvenient time for interaction due to your expected company, I can be on my way."

If he had picked up on any of the wonder, slight disdain, or alternate meanings that Hiyato might have employed, it didn't show; then again, other than an unimpressive smile, what did?

Even he could tell that the young man was not bothered by his gaze, the feeling of being picked apart by someone that you had never met would usually make someone uncomfortable. He laughed quietly, knowing the feeling all too well the first time he stood before the council and received his promotion from Chuunin. With time one learned to deal with it, as best as a person could, it was a Shinobi's duty to keep themselves cool and level headed under the pressure. And this man was able to do it quite well. He chuckled aloud at the mention of him not becoming succesful at writing. "Well, at least someone might think you can do it. Sometimes that is enough, a little deception never hurts though." he said, resting a hand on the pole. "At the very least it does not look like you are lazy. A goal is a good thing to have, hopefully you succeed in that, writing." he said, smiling at him.

He then looked at the brace on his arm and day dreamed momentarily. “I am Hiyato of the Hyuuga clan, as you can most likely see.” The Hyuuga fiddled with his side pouch not really looking for anything. “You are not interrupting anything, the company I seek will not arrive for some time. So, sit Omaru Naoe and enjoy yourself." Hiyato pulled a scroll from his bag and activated it using his chakra. With a slightly audible “poof” sound, cooking supplies and many fresh ingredients appeared. Hiyato began preparing all the food as if he was about to make a masterpiece with food. “It’s actually lunch time for me, would you care to join me in the meal? And, don’t worry, I’m actually a great cook.” Cooking was something Hiyato actually took pride in as he was quite adept at it. “Anything you want in particular?”

There was a difference between not bothered by and not sure what to make of. Naoe would have remained unflinching through all but the most inexplicable behavior, as unmoving as the pillar that Hiyako had so recently vacated. Scrutiny could mean many things. It was easiest to suppose that the Hyuuga's meant was like his own: one part casual interest, one part professional courtesy, and finally, one part simple exercise meant to hone one's powers of perception. Perhaps it was more than that for Hiyako, perhaps less. The distinction was lost on Naoe.

His brow furrowed faintly at the mention of deception. A discourse unspooled immediately in his mind. There was no deception or even obfuscation involved. He was a writer, even if not professionally. That distinction wasn't lost on him at all, but it was immaterial. He didn't want to argue though, or risk an argument, and so he waited for the other man to voice something he could agree with.

"Indeed," he intoned, tipping his chin slightly. "I am not sure I know how to be lazy, or how to give up on a dream." A stillborn smile, really just a bittersweet vestigial curve to his lips followed.

He sat when the soft imperative was issued, simply folding his legs up beneath him on the grass. He let the notebook cover his lap, still closed, and rested his folded hands lightly atop it. "Who is it that you await?" A question that might have conveyed curiosity from anyone else came from Naoe much like a question regarding one's feelings about the weather. There was something almost artificial about it.

He watched, eyes shifting this way and that as the jounin unpacked and arranged the components of the meal-to-be. "I do not see why not," he responded, still watching. "And I am not overly particular about food." His features were suddenly overcast, thoughtful. "Actually, I do not care for spicy food." He gave that phrase a bit of emphasis, a bit of importance. It was a declaration rather than mere facts, a departure from the obsequiousness he tended to cleave to.

"Thank you," he added almost parenthetically, shaking his head. And then: "Where did you learn to cook?"

"That is good to hear." The Hyuuga smiled at the boy, in order to become a ninja one would have to have goals. As Yato was going through his materials and preparing the food the boy asked him who he was waiting for...he knew exactly who he was waiting for but somehow went off into a daze....

[Flashback]
Yato stepped through the front doors of the mansion, he held the strap of his katana with his right hand. He unwrapped the wrappings around his legs and undid his sandals, placing them on the tatami mat inside the door. He was wandering through the hallways of the second floor when he heard voices coming from nearby, ordinarily he wasn't the curious type but something had changed in his immediate personality. Upon closer inspection he learned that the noises were comming from the head of the clan, Shiraha's, room. He stepped up to the door and gently knocked on it, waiting for a response.
[Flashback End]

"Well, I have some other Jounins I am meeting here, we have all been assigned to the same team and today we are supposed to have a team meeting, though it looks like they won't be here today." He pulled out fresh beef killed only a few days before and stored for safe keeping. "Well, since you aren't too particular, I hope you like ramen." Yato smiled at the boy as he began to prepare the food. "As a boy, my mother would take me to Ichiraku's all the time. And we would always order the beef ramen...my favorite. Living with your mother and brother, having to...take care of the house. You learn a few tricks." Yato chuckled. After 15 minutes the food was done, and he pulled a bowl with chop sticks and handed it to Omaru and waited for his response. "There you go, beef ramen." He was sure he would like it, but at the same time who would know. After a short while he just had to ask, "why are you out here? Not many ninja come all the way out here. Trying to get some inspiration to write?"

It always got easier, during these isolated incidents. Inevitably his comfort, or adjustment, or whatever was responsible for opening him up reset, but for the duration...

Naoe nodded once more, as if the earlier chin-dip had provided enough momentum to make this one that much more pronounced. "I find that it is easy for the process of becoming a shinobi to eclipse all else that is important to us. I have been spending time among students of late, introducing them to protective strategy, and it seems that almost all of them are consumed with training or subjected to peer pressure to become so."

One of the benefits of Naoe's peculiarity was the fact that dazed reverie seldom even registered for him. Another might have questioned the way that Hiyato spaced out, became lost in a thought or memory. Naoe simply waited patiently, a more permanent variation of his luke-warm smile in place. "Ah, I see. I am not part of any team, but sometimes work with them on particularly delicate escort missions. Perhaps such will happen with your team." He plucked a single blade of grass from the ground with his right hand and began folding it.

"I never had occasion to cook. Unpacking rations is the ultimate expression of my culinary acumen." He grinned, almost sheepishly at that, pleased with his own malformed joke. He discarded the mashed cellulose and wiped his fingers on his pants before accepting the bowl. "Thank you." He settled the bowl on his notebook, using it as a makeshift table. Only once Yato had served himself did Naoe start in, exhibiting all the rigid dining decorum that was probably expected of him. He ate in measured, reasonable portions, always catching the same rough ratio of noodle, vegetable, and beef with his chopsticks and then chewing thoroughly before swallowing.

It was after one such swallow that he answered. "I do a great deal of running, and this spot is one I visit somewhat frequently." He let the chopsticks rest in the bowl as he spoke. "As you said, not many ninja come this way. It is an excellent place to gather and streamline one's thoughts." And provided that the Hyuuga seemed satisfied with that answer, he'd resume eating. "This is quite... tasty." He attempted a compliment, hesitating slightly not to decieve, but merely to find an appropriate adjective.

"Ah, I see. I am not part of any team, but sometimes work with them on particularly delicate escort missions. Perhaps such will happen with your team." "Perhaps you shall" Yato smiled at the thought, the guy seemed like a nice enough dude, who knew what kind of jutsu he knew. Learning new jutsu was always fascinating to Yato, even though most of his techniques revolved around his Gentle Fist style, he couldn't help but wonder what learning Genjutsu would be like. Yato looked off at the ground for a short moment remembering the first time he had seen a technique performed by a member of the Hyuuga clan.

~Flashback~
Yato walked into his father's room of the Hyuuga Mansion. He walked up to his mother who was standing in the room and said, "Mother, I would like to learn a Jyuuken technique." His mother looked back at him. She replied, "Watch closely." She stuck out her index finger and her middle finger, her fingers began to glow with chakra at the tips. She moved it across the wall. Her fingers had created a cut in the wall. It was small but still somewhat noticable. Hiyato stared in amazement. His mother then said "I only used a small amount of chakra so I wouldn't do too much harm to the wall. Now, I want you to learn this technique. This technique is called Hanichakra, also known as the chakra needle. Now, go to the training arena later and work on it. I will have targets set up for you there. Each will be marked in areas that you should strike and remember them. This technique will be needed later on for other techniques." Yato replied, "Yes mother. Thank you." He bowed and left.
~End of Flashback~

Yato lifted his left arm and looked at his fingers watching the chakra pulsate on them. Even he was now adept at the technique his mother showed him many years ago. Yato watched the boy eat, not watching in a sort of creepy manner, but more of an observant manner. Yato laughed inside his head as he watched Omaru carefully eat the food almost as if he wanted to impress the Hyuuga with some etiquette. Etiquette was something Yato didn't mind not seeing in friends. "Yes, not many ninja come through and I love that fact, however it's still nice seeing a friendly face from time to time." Hinting that he enjoyed the other ninja's company. Which was rare, but nevertheless one could never have too many friends. "Thank you very much, I appreciate it." Yato could tell he was sincere with his voice. There was one more thing tho, Yato couldn't help his curiosity he had to know the abilities of this ninja. He said he was escort and protection..."Would you be up for a friendly spar? If not, that is fine, I will understand."

"I look forward to the possibility," he affirmed, and then continued eating in silence while Yato once again relived the past. He studied the lifted hand curiously, before shaking his head.

Hinting with Naoe was usually a terrible idea. Subtlety wasn't a strong point of his, at least when it came to the spectrum of human sociality. "It is," he chimed in, his tone suggestive more of agreement than accepting or returning the off-hand compliment.

Finishing the repast, he set his bowl down nearby, head tilting to the left slightly at the request for a spar. "I will decline, if only because I spent quite a bit of time sparring Hyuuga in the past. A member of my genin squad was one of your clan, and..." How to express it? At the onset, Kayaku had been vicious, a bully or worse. Only Naoe's absurd stamina had allowed him to go toe-to-toe with Jyuuken, and even then, he'd often wound up at a loss. But describing it as such did dishonor to the comradeship that had eventually evolved out of the one-sided rivalry, and might even offend this new acquaintence. "Suffice to say, you would likely have little difficult dispatching me. My style relies on an inordinate amount of chakra expenditure, and is not geared toward one versus one combat anyway."

He watched Yato carefully in the wake of declining. Even with his professed understanding, Naoe was well aware that such decisions tended to indicate cowardice, even a lack of masculinity, rather than the logic that had dictated his decision.

Yato was surprised he had experience with a Hyuuga, but at the same time it was a complete legit reason to not want to fight another one. Especially since the one he spoke of was a genin. The Hyuuga themselves are the strongest clan in the world, so he expected some sort of hesitation. However, Yato didn't think any less of the man especially after he explained his style of fighting, one indeed not geared around fighting one on one. Perhaps one day though he will see it in action. For now however, he would have to be satisfied with hearing his style. "Fair enough, perhaps one day we shall fight side by side in battle." Yato looked into the sky and examined it, it would be getting dark soon, if it wasn't for his Byakugan he might even have trouble getting back home, but for now he wouldn't worry himself with the thought. Yato locked his items back into his scroll and fastened them into his scroll bag. "Well then, what shall we do now Omaru?"

Well, they'd both been genin at the time... but the reasoning certainly still stood.

Naoe remained seated; Yato seemed to have clean up well in hand, and he wasn't sure whether or not standing was appropriate at this juncture. He wasn't worried about the time, or the darkness. He knew the route back to the village almost intimately, having run it hundreds of time since his adolescence.

"Ah." An interjection, since he really had no idea what they should do. Naoe was out of his depths when it came to hanging out. It simply wasn't something he did. He'd only begun his forays into interaction a scant few weeks before and considered himself quite elementary still. His expression relaxed into contemplation, and then alit (dimly) with realization.

"I can show you my techniques, if you wish. If we do end up working together, it would be useful for you to know my capabilities. They work better demonstratively than in a simple spar. If not... well, I do not know what we shall do. I am amenable to many activities, though." He managed to re-conjure his thin smile before standing and stretching out a bit. The man's body was deceptive; at a glance, he was a pretty boy and little more. That aestheticly pleasing form was far hardier than it looked, though, and packed with more chakra than many jounin wielded to accomodate his aforementioned exorbidant style.

OOC: Sorry about the short post lol. Not much to say.

Yato smiled at Omaru's proposal. Again that feeling of curiosity swallowed him, he had to know what this guy could do. So the young Hyuuga nodded and motioned for Omaru to begin. Yato sat down a bit of ways away, and sat with his legs crossed. He pumped a small amount of chakra into his eyes so he could watch with his Byakugan. This would be most interesting and Yato, was pretty excited to get a demonstration of this ninja's abilities. "Alright, show me what you can do Omaru!"

He nodded, looking thoughtful. What to show first? Other shinobi did tend to prove interested in the techniques and combinations thereof that he'd developed during his asceticism.

Striding forward, he stopped in front of the Hyuuga and freed his bottle of ink from the scroll-bag at his side. "The demonstration requires that I apply an advanced protective fuuinjutsu somewhere on your form. I assure you that you will not be harmed or otherwise weakened- quite the opposite, in fact." Just a hint of a smirk, there. Only once Yato had agreed did he bite his index finger until blood welled out, and then dip it in the ink. Carefully he worked the Hogosha seal out onto the flesh of his new friend's forehead. It would probably tickle a bit.

If Yato was paying attention, he would then note the following handseals building up quite a bit of chakra- roughly 30 percent of Naoe's comparatively vast stores. Every mote of it flowed into the ink-and-blood mixture, infusing the powerful seal with the energy it needed to perform its namesake. The liquid dryed immediately, gaining relative permanence, and now leaned back to inspect his work. This demonstration would end in the infirmary if he screwed it up, after all.

Next he withdrew four exploding tags from the pouch at his hip, holding one and casting the other three to flutter in the air above them. As they slowly swooped toward the ground he formed the unique handseal four the Kage Bunshin. The Byaakugan would reveal the three clones that appeared as the separate balls of chakra they were, identical to Naoe for all intents and purposes. Each clone snatched a tag from the air, and then spread out to form a square around the Hyuuga with Naoe as one of the points. In unison, the four palmed the exploding tags into the grass, completing the Barrier Method Battle Array. Aside from the sealing, the whole process had taken very little time to enact a jutsu that usually required four shinobi.

"Typically, I use that technique on the fly... creating a barrier for an enemy in pursuit to cross in the course of a chase. It is usually very effective. The Hogosha seal is a seal of my own devising. Though inefficient, in terms of chakra-usage, it offers very powerful protection, as you will see..."

Naoe and the Naoe-clones leapt backward, landing neatly well out of range of the explosion that would follow.

"...as soon as you cross out of that square." For someone who was effectively asking a not-quite-stranger to put his life in his hands (or at the very least, risk serious injury), Naoe was quite composed and dispassionate. He sounded like a teacher giving an elementary lecture. Of course, neither had anything to worry about. He had invested the Hogosha gracing Yato with more than enough chakra to negate the explosive force of his barrier.

The saddest part: Naoe didn't even realize the showmanship he was exhibiting. By his reckoning, it was simply the easiest way for him to show the Hyuuga what he wanted to see.

[Jutsu used:]
HogoshaShow
†Fuuin- Hogosha [Sealing - Guardian Seal]
Rank: A
Type: Defensive
Prerequisites: Control 8, Stamina 8
This powerful seal was created by Naoe. The seal is created in the usual manner, then invested with chakra (up to half the user's maximum- the amount must be stated at the time of the seal's creation). The user cannot create the seal on himself, and the seal is not active if the individual bearing it takes any offensive action within 1 post of an attack to be protected against. The seal can be placed anywhere on the body, but the protection offered is all encompassing. An individual can place only one Hogosha seal at any given time.

An aura of chakra will flare briefly around the target's body to shield them from incoming elemental, ninjutsu, and taijutsu attacks. This protection is inefficient, though; the seal uses 1.5 times the chakra of the incoming attack to negate or diminish it. Treat Taijutsu attacks as if they were Ninjutsu attacks of equivalent rank for the purpose of determining how much chakra is required to protect against them. Particularly chakra intensive attacks (usually S Rank) are affected normally by this technique, but will often still result in at least partial damage to the target at the expense of all the chakra invested in the seal.
Kage BunshinShow
*Kage Bunshin no Jutsu [Shadow Clone Technique]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
After forming the needed handseals, the user proceeds to create a number of clones of themselves (maximum is equal to the user's stamina). Unlike the Clone Technique, these clones are actual copies, not illusions. The user's chakra is evenly distributed among every clone, giving each clone an equal fraction of the user's overall power. The clones are capable of performing jutsu on their own and can even bleed, but will usually disperse after one or two solid blows. The clones will be created in roughly the same condition as the original and any experience the clones gain during their existence is transferred to the user once they are dispersed.

Intrigued, Yato watched every little movement and bit of Omaru's demonstration. It was quite intense, he displayed his usage of Shadow clones and even some Fuuinjutsu. Yato always wanted to learn Fuuinjutsu when it came to some secondary styles but instead took the path of a medic, and was taught the ways of iJutsu. He's never really had to use it during combat, only when he was in Med School, and interning at the hospital with his mother. His Byakugan really helps when it comes using iJutsu and he's happy he decided to take it up.

Then suddenly an explosion rattled around him, but for some reason he didn't feel anything. No burning sensation, no death, nothing. It surprised him but he kept his calm, if it came down to it he would of been able to avoid it regardless with his Katien. The Hyuuga jumped back a few feet, "Quite impressive. You can be dangerous if underestimated. Is there anything else?"

The chakra invested in the Hoshoga seal would pour out when the explosion triggered, surrounding Yato in an aura of bright blue visible even to those without the benefit of Byaakugan. That protective sheath swallowed up the force and heat of the combined explosions; if the jounin hadn't jumped, he wouldn't even have been buffeted by the blast. The seal itself faded away to almost nothing, looking almost like an outline of ash against his forehead.

He nodded slowly in response to Yato, and then nodded lightly to his doppelgangers. Having leaped backwards, the four of them now described a square about ten meter to each side around the Hyuuga. Acting in unison again, the Naoe's performed a the complex gestures associated with yet another advanced sealing technique that required multiple users.

The space between each corner defined by Naoe or one of his clones was suddenly filled with potent violent flames. The walls of all-but-impenetrable fire flickered slightly just like any other flame might, a bit like sheets hung to dry rustling in the wind.

All five of them were inside the barrier. At this point, Naoe started to seem taxed... not exhausted by any stretch, but depleted, needing to concentrate more. The muscles behind his cheeks flared before he spoke. "Normally I would create a secondary barrier to prevent anyone within from attacking me or the kage bunshin, but there is little point in expending even more chakra."

With trademark pops, the clones vanished, and the barrier with them. Naoe smiled thinly, running a hand through his silky hair, watching the Hyuuga and finding himself wishing, however fleetingly, that it was a different Hyuuga who he had just shown his techniques- his former squadmate. It passed almost instantly though, and he went right on regarding Yato.

Shishi EnjinShow
*Shishi Enjin [Four Violet Flames Battle Formation]
B-Ranked Fuuinjutsu
Shishi Enjin is a Fuuinjutsu field creation technique utilized by four ninja. After surrounding their target, the four barrier specialists will create a rectangular box made of violet flames. Once created, no ninja will be able to penetrate the barrier without being harmed by the walls of flame. The only way to destroy the barrier is by disrupting the field from the inside. To protect themselves while they are in the box, the four ninja will create another wall near them to completely enclose their body. This allows their opponent and another ally to fight, while they can remain unharmed.

The Hyuuga smiled but cringed at the same time. After all this demonstration the Hyuuga wanted to show off his own techniques. But all of them were geared towards seriously harming your enemy. So, the thought quickly faded.
He let the moments pass and thought of other things; letting his muscles twitch in anticipation for some kind of entertainment. However the wanted entertainment did not come. Yato wasn't sure where to go from here. Should he take his leave or should they find something else to do? Hours had passed and it seemed his new team was definitely not coming. Perhaps, they could return to the village and do something. Yato wasn't sure. So, he thought he would just ask. It was a good night, why waste it? "Hey, Omaru I'm thinking of heading back to Konohagakure, you wanna come? Or are you going to stay out here for a bit longer?"

If only Naoe were entertaining. He could be, unwittingly, but only due to his peculiarities. Watching him organize socks, for example, or attempt to explain one of his passions if pressed; that would be far more amusing than anything he might suggest to get up to in the village proper.

He gave the possibilities due consideration. Ultimately, he still felt enough drive to create that he preferred not to distract himself further.

"I believe I will remain here a while. I would very much like to finish sifting through concepts for this poem." Oh yeah. Smiling. His lips had flat-lined during that stretch of silent thoughtfulness, so he curved them once more, softly. "It was pleasing to meet you though, Hyuuga Hiyato. I look forward to future interaction, as well as the prospect of working with you." A hug certainly seemed out of the question. Bow? Handshake? Nothing? He stood there awkwardly, poised in indecision over what sort of physical action was most appropriate for sealing the incipient social contract.

Finally, he settled on a thumbs-up, delivered by right hand so many seconds after it should have that it seemed even more out of place than it inherently was.

Hiyato smiled and laughed the kid was a bit awkward. It was almost like he never really hung out with people. "I look foward to working with you as well." The Hyuuga returned the thumbs up and started to walk away towards the village. Today didn't turn out to be a waste after all. Although he didn't get to meet his team, he did make a new friends. And that definitely has to count for something. By the time Yato would get home it would most likely be very late, he wondered how late Ichiraku stayed open. He would get some miso pork ramen. Yeah, tonight would be a good food night.
