Fuzen, Saki
General Information Age: 16

Gender: Female

Height: 4'11''

Weight: 105 lbs.

Physical Features: Saki is a petite young woman with a youthful face, only marred by an ever-present glare in her deep green eyes. Her black hair is kept long and neat; tied into a long, single ponytail in the back with a red ribbon. Her bangs are often swept back out of her face, but always seems to cover her left eye despite her best efforts. Her body is slight but toned; especially in the upper torso region, which shows just the slightest amount of muscle definition.

Clothing/Accessories: Saki tends to dress in simple fashions native to her home country. The garb she is most commonly seen in is one many might find on a female samurai- a simple white kimono blouse tucked into dark grey hakama pants, with a similarly colored obi tied around her waist that also holds her katana and wakizashi. On her feet she wears simple white socks and wooden sandals. All of her clothing is kept neat, but loose enough to not get in the way of combat.

Personality: As a person, Saki is quiet, confident and reserved. She is rarely seen losing her temper, and never raises her voice in anger. She tries her best to emulate the other samurai, seeing them as the paragons of virtue and the image all should aspire for. She is also a follower of the bushido code; a code that one who meets her might feel she sticks a little too closely to. In her attempts to emulate her idols and their skill with a blade, she falters almost completely when it comes to the social aspect of being a samurai; her behavior wooden and distant, despite her desire to socialize.

Conversations seem to always come back to weapons, skills or the ancient history of the samurai of the tea country, topics which she could broach for hours and still not be tired of. This wooden, distant nature belies a girl really just trying to live up to the expectations of all the samurai she had read or heard about in stories, and fears being unable to live up to their mighty expectations. Her passion and skill with a blade have also hampered her social life, as she was never a genius with the sword and oftentimes trained for hours or days while the others were making connections with their friends.

In private, she enjoys tea ceremonies and calligraphy; though she is rather poor at doing both. Saki also tends to enjoy meditating, especially around areas where water exists like ponds or lakes as she always felt a connection to that particular element.

Combat Mentality: A firm believer in justice, Saki tries to push her abilities in her chosen kenjutsu style to it’s absolute limit. She tries to end battles quickly; going for the fast, debilitating strikes that her style is known for. She is actually a bit of a pacifist otherwise and will rarely strike the killing blows on anyone; even if it is necessary. Time will tell if she keeps this view.

*[Iaido • Ancestral Focus]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
The hallmark of Iaido is its practitioners abilities to launch an attack even when their swords are sheathed. This Discipline represents the practitioner's capacity to consistently execute a sword draw and slash all in one movement by gripping the edge of the scabbard and pulling the scabbard slightly forward before drawing the sword. This Discipline enables the practitioner to immediately draw their sword and attack at the start of combat.

*[Iaido • Weapon Mastery]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Since Iaido is a style that prioritizes speed over brute strength, wise usage of the blade is paramount to the practitioner's success in the style. This Discipline represents the practitioner's knowledge of their weapon's strengths and weaknesses in combat, allowing them to use the weapon more efficiently both inside and outside of its use in Iaido techniques and avoid unnecessarily presenting their weapon's blind spots to the opponent.

*[Iaido • Ambidexterity]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
After practicing for a long amount of time with the concept of using both of their hands with equal skill, the user has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows them to utilize both hands equally and as effectively without any penalty. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.

**[Iaido • One with the Sheath]
D-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): 8 Speed, 8 Instinct.
The practitioner has learned how to more quickly and efficiently sheath his blades. The practitioner can now seamlessly transition from drawing their blade to slash to sheathing their blade, allowing the practitioner to sheath their sword in half the time, up to a maximum speed equal to their Speed score, for the more rapid execution of Iaido techniques.

*[Iaido • Last Breath]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
The most iconic (and most basic) strike of Iaido, the practitioner quickly draws and cuts with their blade in a wide arc in one fluid motion. This simultaneous draw and attack straight from the scabbard makes Iaido well-suited for an initial surprise attack and for taking advantage of openings presented by the opponent.

*[Iaido • Mantra]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A simple yet potent defense, especially against other weapons users, the practitioner partially draws the sword from its scabbard and blocks incoming attacks with the back of their blade. This technique is ineffective against opponents with higher Strength than the practitioner's Strength.

*[Iaido • Last Rites]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A defensive technique particularly useful when an opponent is close to the practitioner or is clinching them in a grapple, the practitioner grabs the hilt of their sword with a reverse grip and rams the butt or pommel of the hilt into the opponent's body, pushing the opponent back a number of meters equal to the difference between their Strength scores. Conversely, against opponents with higher Strength than their own, the practitioner can use this technique to push themselves back a number of meters equal to their own Strength score. The speed and simplicity of the attack can push opponents away and give the practitioner the needed space to set up additional attacks.

*[Iaido • Clouding Eyes]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 8 Speed.
A simple technique meant to cripple the target's vision, the practitioner draws the sword from its scabbard and aims a quick slash at the eyes. This technique can be done in any single direction to either target one or both of the opponent's eyes.

*[Iaido • Fading Touch]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 8 Speed.
An extension of the disabling effects of Clouding Eyes, the practitioner draws the sword from the scabbard and slashes at the opponent's arms or elbows. Landing this technique can sever the muscles and tendons connecting in their arm, rendering the opponent's arm useless. This penalty lasts until the opponent is able to receive medical attention.

*[Iaido • Deathly Weight]
D-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite(s): 8 Speed.
An extension of the disabling effects of Clouding Eyes, the practitioner draws the sword from its scabbard and slashes at the back of the opponent's leg, severing the muscles and tendons responsible for walking and supporting their weight., rendering the opponent unable to walk on the targeted leg. This penalty lasts until the opponent is able to receive medical attention.

*[Iaido • Shinigami Draw]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Losing the use of one's hand or arm in a fight can be a death sentence, but Iaido has found a simple, elegant response to this desperate situation. Using their free hand, the practitioner momentarily braces the edge of their sword against the inside of the scabbard before drawing. While it does not confer the instant acceleration benefit of its parent technique, this Discipline does allow the practitioner to use Iaido techniques at their normal speed even with only one hand.

*[Iaido • One with the Sword]
C-Rank Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite(s): *[Iaido • One with the Sheath].
The practitioner has learned how to more quickly and efficiently sheath his blades even without the use of both hands. The practitioner can now sheath the blade just as quickly with one hand as could be done with two hands, and so long as the scabbard remains on their person, the practitioner will always have an exact knowledge of the position of their scabbard.

*[Iaido • Shinigami’s Might]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
A technique used to capitalize on the superior speed of Iaido, the practitioner momentarily braces the edge of their sword against the inside of the scabbard, holding the edge of the scabbard firmly with their other hand. The practitioner then drives that force forward, which results in a quick slash of the blade that immediately accelerates to the practitioner's top Speed. Though powerful, this move is not without risk, as sheathing the blade may take longer than normal after using it due to the commitment this technique requires.

*[Iaido • Death’s Passage]
C-Rank Taijutsu Maneuver
This technique is particularly useful against opponents with a strong defense or some sort of natural armor. The practitioner draws their sword from its scabbard and slashes the opponent, which is followed by an immediate second slash in the exact opposite direction before the blade is immediately sheathed. The practitioner can choose to target the same spot to make a deeper cut or to target a different area instead. They may also choose to attack a second target with this technique instead.

History
Historical AccountsShow
Saki was never the greatest. Born into a family of samurai as a single child, she had to work hard for any advantage given to her, she was never gifted by any meaning of the term. Her mother was the strict one of the family; a capable samurai of her own right, that woman pushed her daughter as far as she could go, and then pushed a little further. It was rough, but she couldn’t say she regretted it. While she was rarely not training, she managed to get away enough to read or listen to stories about legendary samurai, and how there were plenty who had even beat the powerful shinobi on their own.

Those stories drove her and gave her both the energy and the strength to forge on. When it finally came time to enroll into a dojo to teach the art, she had blown through the skill test to join and took her place among the best and brightest. While she was the best of those who managed to get through the tests, her constant training at a young age managing to pay off, she was still only ever average when it came to the experienced or talented members.

It didn’t matter to her; it only fueled the fire within. Her desire to be the brightest star among the samurai meant she trained for hours on days, often repeating a single move an endless number of times until she had finally perfected it; which was often something she had to do.

Eventually, she had graduated from the dojo, even learning some intermediate skills taught above what one would normally leave with at her level. From there, she’s mostly been wandering, practicing her skill where she can and doing her best to uphold everything she’s known the samurai to be...

I don’t believe you’re allowed to have concentrations that the character can’t utilize yet such as Sensor and Hearing. But it doesn’t cost anything to add concentrations later.

Minor Country characters don't get access to Ninjutsu or Genjutsu concentrations until they train the Basic Jutsu. I suggest if you'd like to keep them on there to place [s] tags around them
