Yamaki, Shin

[Freedom always has a price]

General Information Age: 23
Gender: Male
Height: 5ft 11in
Weight: 136 lbs
Physical Features:
  • Face/head: Shin is a fairly handsome young man, though he wouldn't stand out in a crowd of people. With his dark grey, almost black hair and his dull blue eyes, he strikes a rather dull figure. He rarely ever styles his hair, leaving it as a shaggy mess, with some of it drooping in front of his eyes. As a result of both climate and rarely spending time outside, Shin has almost unhealthily pale skin.
  • Body: Just like his facial features, Shin’s body doesn’t make him stand out very much… until you were to get a look underneath his clothing. With a rather slim build and a fairly decent amount of muscle, the main things that stand out are the deep scars on his back, a remnant of his early life as a slave.
  • Notable Features: Along with the deep scars on his back, Shin also has a circular scar on his shoulder from when he performed surgery on himself to remove the brand that was put on him as a slave.
Clothing/Accessories: Shin often wears concealing clothing, such as jackets and sweatpants. His usual outfit is a t-shirt underneath a warm jacket, a pair of sweatpants, and a pair of plain black boots.
Picture: Personality:
  • General: A result of living for so long as a slave, Shin is rather uncaring. He often doesn’t have any opinion about other people, and it’s only his medical training that compels him to help someone who is injured, and before that he wouldn’t have cared about other people’s pain in the slightest. As a result of his medical training, Shin slowly became more empathetic to other people, albeit mainly when the other person is injured. He values freedom above all else, though at the same time he understands the necessity of slaves in Water Country, though he doesn’t like it.

He is pretty quiet most of the time, preferring not to get involved in arguments and as a whole, he is actually pretty lazy outside of medical situations, spending his free time sleeping, which lead to his messed-up sleep schedule.
  • Hopes/Dreams: Shin doesn’t have very many dreams for the future, preferring to take things as they come, though he does want to learn how to use chakra.
  • Fears: Above all else, Shin is terrified of the possibility of his former owner sending shinobi after him to take him back, since he knows that he wouldn't have a chance in fighting them off.
  • Combat Mentality: Shin is a very efficient fighter, prefering to react to an opponent’s attacks and utilizing his knowledge of Anatomy to target the most vulnerable parts of a person’s body, often preferring weaponry to using his fists.

Learners of this discipline have learn the most effective manner to diagnose a patient, starting at the head, and assessing for head wounds, then moving down through the torso, both arms, the groin area, both legs, then the back. Those who learn this discipline will be able to account for any wounds that present with physical symptoms on a patient.

*[Medicinal Style • Pressure Points]
D-rank Taijutsu Discipline

*[Medicinal Style • Antidote]
C-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
In the case of injected venoms and poisons, the user is able to assess the site of injection, and properly cut off circulation, and roll veins, to force out the poison or venom. So long as they begin within the first post of injection, they can prevent the effects of the venom or poison.

*[Medicinal Style • Medic]
C-rank Taijutsu Discipline

*[Medicinal Style • Comfort]
B-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Through the use of acupuncture and their knowledge of pressure points, the user is able to quickly apply a series of pricks, leaving the needles in, that dulls pain in localized areas of the body, or even the entire body. This method only isolates pain receptors, not other receptors, allowing someone under the effects of this technique to continue to function. The pain dulling effects will last for up to 5 posts, at which points the needles will have to be removed then replaced.

*[Medicinal Style • Field Transfusion]
B-rank Taijutsu Maneuver
Assuming they have the approriate materials, the user is able to set up a field transfusion, taking blood from one person, and transfusing it into their patient, adding to their blood volume and potentially extending their life. A Field Tranfusion can extend the life of a patient by up to 3 posts.

*[Medicinal Style • Anatomy]

Much of this knowledge extends into the biology of non-human species as well, though with less precision. This discipline, combined with enough accuracy, can turn even the simplest of attacks into a fatal blow.
Yoshin Kenjutsu:
Yoshin Kenjutsu is a style of sword techniques that originate from Waterfall Country. The style's method of attack is considerably different from normal sword techniques, as each one is actually focused more on intelligent strikes to the body at critical places. Nerves, muscles, organs, even joints, are all targets of Yoshin Style. Because of this, practioners typically use short blades such as wakizashi or kodachi, though katana users are not unheard of. The typical stance of the style is to hold your sword at chest level to make the typical jabbing motions of the style more accessible.

*[Yoshin • Ambidexterity]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Discipline
Prerequisite: 5 Instinct
After practicing for a long amount of time with the concept of using both of their hands with equal skill, the user has developed a level of ambidexterity that allows them to utilize their preferred weaponry without any sort of issue. This extends to other methods of combat or simple everyday life as well.

*[Yoshin • Side Step]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 5 Instinct
After stepping up beside the target or sidestepping an attack from the target, the user utilizes a quick striking method, drawing a very firm slash across the side, ribcage or arm of the target. The user slashes with the intent to both injure and startle the opponent, hoping to catch them off guard and disrupt the flow of their attacks. Unlike many other Yoshin techs that focus on shallow cuts that flare up in pain, this particular technique is meant to dig as deep as possible, many times slashing into bones to cause as much long term damage as possible.

*[Yoshin • Flinch]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 5 Instinct
With a quick feint, the user quickly draws their sword up in an arc, aiming at a foe's eyes usually with intent to slash across their face and injure their eyes. The nature of the technique's movements make it easily read, prompting the target to avoid or dodge.

*[Yoshin • Paper Slash]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 5 Instinct
In this technique, the user switches from the typical critical blows to a more specialized 'swirl' pattern of slashing, which while much less effective in terms of damage, is useful in distraction. Wounds inflicted are patterned to flare up with pain when those muscle areas tighten, causing moves the opponent's make to recoil slightly on their bodies, the wounded areas acting as a detrimental pain in their actions.

*[Yoshin • Finger Snap]
D-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 5 Instinct
Using a quick striking method, the user of this technique quickly draws a very firm slash towards the hands of the target aimed towards the fingers or palm. The user slashed with the intent to injure the gripping portions of the opponent's hand to knock weapons free with the slash, though the attack itself is shallow. Typically the technique is only useful as a quick disarm method and unsuitable for long term disarming.

*[Yoshin • Tension Cutter]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Instinct
Focusing on a group of muscles along the opponent's torso, the user of this technique delivers a series of slashes while in movement. This produces a series of evenly spaced lines across the target's mid-section and sides. These cuts are not extremely damaging to the body, but the muscles targeted in that area aid in back and limb movement. Unable to fully draw power from their back or limbs, the target's Strength will reduce by 3 until proper medical attention is reached.

*[Yoshin • Forearm Disarm]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Instinct
The user will attempt to disarm a weapon in their opponent's hands by attacking the opponent's forearm with their blade. Whether by slashing or by stabbing, the damage this causes to the muscles and tendons in the forearm is usually enough to cause an opponent to drop whatever they are holding should the attack connect, while simultaneously lowering the target's strength by 3 due to the damage the muscles have sustained. This debuff lasts until the target receives medical attention to treat the wound.

*[Yoshin • Achilles Bane]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Instinct
Ducking low and hooking their blade around the back of an opponent's ankle, the user draws a critical slice against the ankle's tendon, instantly shooting jolts of pain up the user's body. The pain causes even the slightest step to send shocks of pain through the nerve. Targets afflicted by this technique will lose 3 Speed until proper medical attention is reached.

*[Yoshin • Trip Up]
C-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 15 Instinct
Dropping down to one knee in front of a foe, the user performs a pair of quick slashes across the foe's shins. The user aims for a long nerve across the front of the shin to obstruct their movements. Striking the nerve can be detrimental to the opponent as the nerve is hard to 'miss', considering its size and the relative thin skin against the shin makes even grazes effective. Opponents struck by the effects of this technique suffer a spark of pain that drops the target's speed by 3, making it effective for retreating from a foe. This debuff lasts until the target receives medical attention to treat the wounds.

*[Yoshin • Nerve Destruction]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 25 Instinct
By performing a series of well calculated and precisely aimed stabs or cuts at an opponent's body, the user aims to pierce or slash their blade into any nerve clusters they can properly target. Common targets for this technique are the front of the shoulders, underneath the armpits, the solar plexus, the forearms and the thighs. Striking any one of these areas can effectively result in incapacitation, temporary paralysis or total body shock by sending waves of intense pain through the nerves in the area. Generally speaking, a target with high pain tolerance can resist many of the effects this technique causes.

*[Yoshin • Joint Strike]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 25 Instinct
Quickly moving in close to a foe, the user lunges at a weak point of a foe's joints, such as under the shoulders through the armpit, into the elbow from the crook inside the arms, or behind the knees, etc, and slams the tip of their sword through it in an attempt to obliterate the functioning tendons and cartilage of the joint with any bones it can. This technique is severely debilitating, requiring an Iijutsu user to repair the damage, in some cases rendering the limb below the joint inoperable if a clean hit is delivered.

*[Yoshin • Mind Breaking]
B-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 25 Instinct
Unlike most of the Yoshin style, the user performs this technique with either a bare hand or the hilt of their sword. Users quickly smash their hand or object into the temple of the foe before retreating out of striking range. The placement of this blow sends a concussion throughout the entirety of the brain, causing dizziness and reduced focus. The target's Taijutsu drops by 4 and their instinct drops by 5 for 4 posts as the opponent tries to reorient themselves.

*[Yoshin • No Escape]
A-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 30 Instinct, 30 Taijutsu
The user will dash in towards their opponent before making incredibly precise slashes and stabs, all of which are aimed for key points in the opponents body, specifically targetting any major artery that they can reasonably reach. The slashes made are incredibly precise so as not to cause much bleeding by themselves, but should an opponent affected by this technique undergo too much strenuous muscle movement (exerting more than 15 strength or Speed) Blood will rush from their wounds, causing them to lose 3 points of stamina for that post of movement. This stamina will continue to drop every time the opponent moves too much, and the effect lasts until the target has received medical attention for their wounds.

*[Yoshin • Incapacitation]
A-Ranked Taijutsu Maneuver
Prerequisite: 30 Taijutsu, 30 Instinct
Having achieved immeasurable accuracy through the constant practice of Yoshin, the user of this technique will fly into a flurry of strikes, all of which are aimed for key tendons and muscle clusters of the body. Specifically, the user will aim for large clusters of muscles or tendons located within the arms or legs, or even an area such as the spine in order to render the affected area and areas associated with them immobile. This means that a blow to the arm or leg would render that limb immobile, and a blow to the spine would render anything below the area of contact immobile. This paralyzation lasts until the damaged can be healed through Iijutsu or some other means of regeneration.

History
SpoilerShow
Yamaki Shin's early life was anything but pleasant. Sold into slavery shortly after birth, he ended up in the ownership of a very wealthy family, and grew up not knowing who his parents were or the circumstances of his sale, and while for the first few years of his life he wanted to find them more than anything, over the years he just... stopped caring. Forced into brutal and intense labor from a young age, within a few years Shin's intellect was noticed by his owner, and he was taken into the main household and put through some medical training.

By the time he had entered his early teens, Shin had managed to gain the trust of his owner, which he took advantage of to escape, using his privileges as his master's personal doctor to poison the entire household by grinding up several medicinal herbs and sneaking them into the dinner that night, using the distraction to flee, eventually ending up in a small village on the outskirts of Water Country. It was here when he was taken in by the village's doctor, an ex-shinobi who had retired to live the rest of his life saving lives rather than ending them. Learning everything he could, Shin eventually left the village to travel, eager to explore as much as he could.

After years of traveling and gaining some small reputation among the minor villages as a fairly skilled doctor, Shin eventually settled down in a small, unnamed port town, being around the age of 20 or so at this point. However, Shin quickly learned that peace does not last forever, as the town was raided and destroyed by a group of bandits, led by a rather weak missing nin(albeit more than strong enough to overwhelm Shin), leading to him continuing his life of traveling.
