17
Gender:
Male
Height:
5' 6''
Weight:
152lbs
Hair:
Black. Medium Length. Usually tidy everywhere except in the front portion above his forehead where he keeps it messy and spiked up.
Eyes:
A ghostly, pale blue.
Physical Features:
Kuodachi beefed up over the years from his constant training. Additionally, despite his originally stunted growth, he ended up growing a good bit. His skin is pale, as if it has not seen much sunlight. His oval face sports a fresh look and a strong jawline. His nose is fairly small and fitting of his face with no real tilt. He has a large forehead that is luckily almost always covered by his forehead protector. A scar under his right eye is the only real blemish on his face.
Clothing/Accessories:
In the past few years, Kuodachi grew to enjoy the more fancy dress the world had to offer. This includes a collared shirt with a t-shirt underneath. This layered look is accompanied with slacks and simple tabi for bottoms. Kuodachi tops the outfit off with a stylish jacket and finger-less gloves. He tends to wear a lot of blues, reds, and black. He wears glasses only when reading.
Personality
- General:
He generally has an optimistic point of view, outside of his plan making. He can see the good in a situation in order to better achieve such an outcome, which is as critical to a well made plan as being able to see the very worst. His social anxiety is entirely a thing of the past. He is very sure of himself, confident in his own skills and knowledge. He continues to love his village, and cherishes all the friendships he has and will continue to make throughout his journey as a Shinobi. Despite this being a clear outward personality, there is definitely a darkness that still lurks within him, something he cant seem to be rid of. Reaching Jounin, the rank his father had achieved, did not get rid of the darkness, as he hoped it would. - Hopes/Dreams:
As cliché as it sounds, he has recently accepted an ambition of being Hokage in the future. To have his name spread as as far as words can go, a way of ridding himself of his father's name desecration when Kuodachi was young. Master Genjutsu and be a true guardian of Konoha. - Fears:
Fearful of losing those close to him and being unable to do anything about it. Fearful of the many threats that lurk in regards to his home, Konoha and fire country as a whole. Fear of not being worthy of his title. - Combat Mentality:
Kuodachi has compensated for his complete lack of strength and speed by way of body control and stealth. He tends to put great effort into gathering information, planning, and avoiding direct confrontation when possible. When not possible, he uses his complete mastery over genjutsu to cripple his opponents to a level he is able to handle, physically. He is sought after as a partner in arms for his astonishing power to create openings and ability to ensure his partners never succumb to any genjutsu, at least not for long.

A Rough StartShow
Kuodachi was born to into a family as an only child. His mother's name was Saori and his father was known as Satoe. Satoe took up the blade at a young age to be a protector of the hidden leaf. He left his home, a neighboring village within leaf country, making the long trek to Konoha and never looking back. The eager young boy climbed the ranks rapidly, becoming an esteemed Shinobi in no time. He specialized in swordsmanship and assassination.
Saori was a young girl who lived in the leaf since her birth. Her father was a Shinobi who died in the line of duty when she was only a small child at the rank of chuunin. Her mother passed away in her teenage years, leaving the family flower shop to her tending. Saori was not unhappy, feeling both her parents lived fulfilling lives. They were older, waiting a long time before finally having Saori.
Eventually, Satoe found himself settling down, falling for a beautiful dark haired young woman, Saori. Most described the two as inseparable, and completely love stricken. It was a loving relationship to rival those from stories. After only a short time, Saori became pregnant with Kuodachi. Both soon to be parents were ecstatic about the prospect of adding a member to their familial unit.
Unfortunately, there was a trouble during the pregnancy. She was hospitalized, growing sicker by the moment. Saori passed as a result of the medical difficulties that arose due to the pregnancy. Satoe was, of course, at her bed side holding her hand until the final moments. The doctors managed to save Kuodachi who was born premature, a feeble infant. Yet, most saw it as a miracle he even survived. Satoe saw Kuodachi as the reason that his one and only love, Saori, was taken from him prematurely. It was the start of a very unloving father-son relationship, but Satoe still took him in and called him his son thinking that would be what Saori wanted.
To make matters worse, as a result of being born premature, Kuodachi grew up a small and feeble boy who was prone to sickness. This only fueled the hate his father already had for him. His father wanted a strong child to carry on his legacy as a Shinobi, and he saw no hope in Kuodachi to fulfill that desire. Yet, Kuodachi tried to change his mind from the very moment he came to understand this desire of his fathers. He started training early, trying to better and ready himself for the trials he would face in the academy. His father even tried giving some guidance in this process, though would usually do so in a strict, angry manner. His father was never satisfied. No matter how hard Kuodachi tried, his father was quick to shake his head, yell, and give up on his boy.
Kuodachi sought some sort of acknowledgment from his father. Anything. After getting accepted to the academy, his father was not satisfied. Still, Kuodachi worked hard in the academy to overcome his innate weaknesses. His father never acknowledged him, never had anything positive to say to the bitter end. To the day he died, he was adamant that Kuodachi would never graduate from the academy as the weakling he was. He would never be a Shinobi. Worse yet, Satoe, after the death of his beloved, changed as man. The circumstances of his death were questioned, even with talk of a village betrayal gone bad. This gave the family name a bad aura about it. Kuodachi would live in the shadow of his father's mistake for a long time to follow.
It was undoubtedly true that Academy life for Kuodachi was a rough one. He was the smallest one around, and that made him appear weak. What's more, Kuodachi was practically inept at Ninjutsu. This caused him to be the target of a large amount of various forms of abuse from peers. He was picked by the larger students to spar with for an “easy win”. He was the first target of bullies and last picked for team exercises. However, instead of trying to change what he was, he turned to other areas he could excel at. He was well above average in intellect. This aided in his ability to create strategies to work around his weaknesses. Additionally, he was small and quite quick and had a precise hand in combat. He lacked brute force, but was able to place select precise shots to damage opponents while avoiding damage himself. Further yet, and perhaps most importantly, was Kuodachi's prodigy level skills in Genjutsu. Genjutsu came naturally for him, and was potent for counteracting his weakness in close quarters combat.
At first, he did not make a single friend given his poor, uptight, and secretive personality along with his sickly appearance, people scarcely associated with him at all. However, he started to make a name for himself as the “hard-working weakling”. He tried so very hard to get a single smile and nod of approval from his father. Unfortunately, his father died in the line of duty before seeing him graduate. His father's passing actually aided him in making a single friend in the academy. Her name was Keiko. She was a girl in his class with long red hair and vibrant green eyes. She was also an orphan, though she never knew her parents. She was the one friend Kuodachi made and it was only through a common suffering. Keiko, despite Kuodachi's outward roughness, saw some good in the boy. She was always super nice to him, hoping to rub off on him. However, Kuodachi, being the pessimistic boy he was, found it difficult to believe that Keiko was truly as sweet as she seemed. Yet, he quickly grew close to Keiko, even telling her his deepest secrets and talking about his troubles. Keiko was loving and caring, trying so very hard to break the walls Kuodachi had build around himself over the years.
Additionally, Kuodachi found even more caring that came from Keiko's grandmother, who really liked Kuodachi. She would have him over for dinner, knowing that the crone of a keeper he had, Fujinawa, didn't even feed him all the time. It was truly the closest thing to a maternal relationship Kuodachi ever experienced.
Miss Fujinawa, the keeper he was sent to live with after his father passed, turned out to be a very uncaring person. She had a temper, often striking Kuodachi who would simply grit his teeth. She demanded silence within the home and perfect cleanliness. She didn't care to get to know him or aid him in his endeavors, as many parents would. Kuodachi was more of a nuisance than anything else, almost like the crone never asked for the responsibility. Though, Kuodachi didn't really know whether she did or not.
It was at graduation when he decided he would carry around one of his father's katana. He walked across the stage to receive his headband wearing the katana. He never really had any intention of utlizing the blade, as it was his father's style, not his own. The main purpose was for a reminder as to how grim the world truly is. It was meant to aid him in staying true to his goal: To get stronger in his own way.

A Journey To RememberShow
After graduating from the academy, Kuodachi felt alone in the world. His father was not there to have been proven wrong. The graduation felt lack luster, in a sense. The world around him suddenly seemed daunting and unbeatable. As those around him were placed on teams, Kuodachi sat alone waiting. Feelings of inadequacy set in as he began to speculate that he was simply to poor to place. His lack of friendships and mediocre skill would ultimately beat even the most skilled superior when attempting to place him with two other Genin and a leader. The pool of candidates dwindled with each eavesdrop of hearing “I am with so and so!”
Then came a chance encounter with a young boy whom he quite literally, fell into the arms of. Saburo. They ended up having a genuine conversation while playing a game of Shogi. Kuodachi actually enjoyed the time before it was rudely interrupted by his keeper. “Maybe we will get placed on a team together!” words passed between the two. Little did he know, only a little while later, he received a letter informing him of where he would meet his new teammates. Saburo would be one of the members along with another by the name of Rauji. Their sensei, Mio, took great pride in the team she had been assigned. Together, they formed Team 49.
Suddenly, the empty void that was Kuodachi's life was filled with a team. They trained constantly, finally having other people to train alongside! They spent unbelievable amounts of time together taking missions and learning every step of the way. Kuodachi found himself placed in a leadership role among the three members, a true boost to his esteem. Ultimately, being assigned to a team may have been the best thing that could happen to him. He found acceptance and happiness, and, perhaps most importantly, friends. Over time, the emotional walls that Kuodachi spend so long building began to crumble as he opened up to his team. This aided in him making even more friends. He ended up befriending a Hyuuga, Aina, who taught him a great deal about the world, as well as Konoha's clans. He met a hyper young genin, Ken'ichi, in the market, who would become one of his good friends, teaching him to have a better outlook on life. Each relationship he formed knocked down another brick in the walls.
Before long, with constant training and hard work, both Kuodachi and Saburo were recommended for the Chuunin exams. Their first was interrupted by an attack on the village. Kuodachi and Saburo ended up saving a great many academy students from fires that were spread in the academy, including Saburo's own sister. He was an older Jounin of great wisdom who took Kuodachi under his wing. Shortly after the rebuilding process, Saburo and he took the exam again and, they passed after an intense fight against a Hyuuga Chuunin. This moment signaled Kuodachi being one of the first in his class to make the step from Genin to Chuunin, putting every ill conceived comment about his lack of capability to rest.
Now, a new phase in his life was about to take place as he moved from Genin to Chuunin. What events would this new part of his life bring? Only time could tell, but Kuodachi was more excited than ever to keep living the life he had and enjoy every moment.

New freedomShow
After a achieving the rank of Chuunin, a new phase of his life began. It was one most noted by the new freedom acquired with the rank. He took missions that allowed him to leave the village as often as he possibly could, enjoying the outside world, he previously had such little contact with, very thoroughly.
Additionally, he joined Mamorinuku, an organization dedicated to further protection of the village he cares about so much. With his promotion to Chuunin being only a short while after the attack on the village, it seemed very reasonable to desire to help out more than was previously possible in the villages defenses. He joined into the Katameru, one that resides over strengthening the inner and outer defenses. He met quite a few new people through the organization and genuinely feels he made a good decision in joining.
Finally, he was signed on to assist a jounin in leading a team of Genin. The village saw great leadership potential in him, the reason for wanting to ensure those skills get honed to their full potential. Being placed under Awai, Cros, he learned a great deal about leading a team including both the positives and negatives of having such a position. Now, with his rank up, he will be up for leading the team solo, or at least, with a lessened degree of supervision.
On his way to this promotion, his relationship with Saburo, his teammate, suffered. It was mostly as a result of the failure on his part to take action in order to save Sab's sister from her wounds. Additionally, with the Chuunin promotion, both became burdened by their new responsibilities, only adding to the distance in the relationship. Regardless, he still considers Saburo to be one of his greatest friends, and, should the need arise, he would not hesitate to lean on the shoulders of his best friend, or go great distances to help Saburo. In light of the same events that led to this relationship suffering, however, Kuodachi is only just starting to kindle a relationship with a male elder, Hayashi. The Jounin that saved Saburo's sister in Kuodachi's moment of hesitation. Finally, the relationship with Keiko, his beloved childhood friend, has taken a turn for one with more close romance. She moved in with him and they accepted being a “couple.”
Now, with the new promotion, his capabilities and obligations have further grown. This in turn, has opened up a new phase in his life as he sets out with his new title of Special Jounin to explore and progress even further. The fabled title of Jounin, the title his father once reached, is now within sight. Of course, the trek will be lengthy and arduous, but Kuodachi's resolve and love for life is great.

Branching OutShow
It did not take long for Kuodachi to get settled into his new title of special Jounin. The missions were plentiful, and they kept him very busy. He still honed his skills, kept up with the bonds he'd made over the years, and even embraced the new romantic relationship with his best friend, and lover, Keiko. His bond with Saburo was rekindled, at least as far as it could be. Aina remained one of his best friends, whom he could always rely on. The team he'd overseen as his own group of genin made their paths in the right direction, ready to carve their way to Chuunin. The many other bonds he'd made over the years continued to be the main portion of his life that he cherished more than anything else.
Beyond this, he found himself being assigned more trouble Shinobi. It seemed the village believed Kuodachi to be capable of fixing the troubles, turning potential defectors into something more. It was a responsibility Kuodachi took with great care. Some might say that he himself was one of these in his early Shinobi years. He could often relate, and perhaps that was the reason for his effectiveness.
Additionally, he found himself in the company of a legendary Bannin, whom with the recommendation of Aina (Unbeknownst to Kuodachi until much later down the line), chose Kuodachi to be his assistant. It was a position that held a degree of prestige, one that Kuodachi found a great deal of of pride in. More than just his assistant, Kuodachi began looking to Yoru as a friend in what seemed like a very short amount of time. Yoru was legendary Bannin, sure, but more than that, he was a person. He came from slavery, and sought to end just such an atrocity. Kuodachi found himself desiring nothing more than to help Yoru accomplish such a goal. It was not entirely his own, but it quickly became one he felt strongly for regardless.
It was not long following the appointment as Yoru's assistant that Kuodachi received a strange letter bidding him to the residence of a councilwoman. After a strange experience, he was informed of his promotion to Jounin. Just like that, he had attained what once felt nearly unreachable. The rank his father once carried. Surely, somewhere, his father was actually proud. Maybe even regretted what he'd done. But, it was a possibility that Kuodachi still questioned.
With the new rank of Jounin, Yoru immediately set out to give him a warm welcome to the rank with a mission to bring them one step closer as friends and to ridding the world of slavery. What else lies on his path with the new rank, only time would tell. One thing was for certain... Years ago, as a student in the academy, no one could have predicted he'd have ended up where he was today.
