Kuraku, Hikari
"Beyond family and friends, food and shelter, there are no essentials."
General Information Age: 15
Gender: Male
Height: 5'4
Weight: 135lbs
Physical Appearance: Hikari has a mess of bronze-brown hair, ruffled in a permanent "I need a haircut" style. And yet it has a flow to it that almost makes it seem intentional - it's not. His eyes are large, and amber in colour. They nestle comfortably in his lightly tanned skin, yet still stand out amongst the rest of his face because of their colour. The tone seems painted onto his eyeballs. Stricken by the sunlight, they are particularly beautiful. His features are pointed yet smooth, namely his chin and nose. Generally, Hikari will be seen with dirt on his face or the odd bruise - those that know him have come to expect it.
Hikari is only young yet, so his body has not filled out entirely. However, his early years spent on his family's farm, as well as his time training as a Shinobi, have given him a lean physique. He is thin, but not a pound of his body is dead weight, it's all muscle. There is a burn mark located on his upper back, as well as a small scar on his right shoulder, however neither is anything major, nor are they noticeable unless Hikari's shirtless.
When training, fighting or embarking on a mission, Hikari wears his standard Shinobi uniform. This consists of a navy, long sleeved top with an insulated flak jacket worn over, fingerless gloves with metal backhand protectors, navy trousers, and sandals. When he's not on Shinobi business (or at least, doesn't expect to be on Shinobi business), he wears a much more casual attire. This includes a black, hooded, leather jacket over an orange t-shirt (he generally wears the jacket open, revealing the t-shirt). The outfit is complete with faded blue jeans and white shoes.
Hikari has a silver necklace with a golden pendant shaped like the sun at the end. This is invisible under his clothes, but is always on him. He wears his forehead protector at all times except for when he's asleep, in the traditional manner.
On all of Hikari's outfits, he dons pouches and satchels for holding his smaller weapons. He also has a quiver and case for his arrows and bow, which are hung over his shoulder and behind his back.
Personality: Hikari isn't an overly complicated person. He appreciates family and friends above all else in this world, and would easily sacrifice his life for the continuation of theirs. Being a Shinobi brings him great joy, as it fulfils him through a sense of duty. Duty to his country and its people, duty to those he cares about, and duty to his future self as a man. He is motivated by the thought of getting stronger, and being better able to defend himself and others. This makes him a bit competitive, but not obnoxiously so.
Hikari's sense of humour can at times be dark, with him finding something funny purely for the cynicism or ugliness of it. But despite all the dead baby jokes he can gleefully recite, he's light hearted and even sensitive. He's quick to talk about his emotions and feelings, but not nearly so quick to talk about his thoughts and observations - he's sensitive, not a fool who just throws his trust around. He has marks on his body from his time on the farm that will probably never leave him. However to Hikari, no scar is more painful than that of betrayal. He has never hated a person for nothing, but if places his trust and care into a person and they make him regret it, he will never forget it. The feeling this leaves in him can only be described as the most raw, unrelenting hatred imaginable, and those responsible are as good as dead to him.

Abilities and Concentrations Abilities: [0/3]
Ninjutsu Concentrations:
Raiton:Hikari has learned to use the Raiton affinity, allowing him access to raiton jutsu. Raiton jutsu are known for their ability to pierce, shock, and paralyze opponents.
Katon:This user has learned to use the katon affinity, allowing him access to katon jutsu. Katon jutsu are known for their ability to burn most anything, and ignite fires.
Sensor:Sensors are people that are able to sense chakra and locate it. This can be done in a number of ways, but most often in the form of some sort of environmental empathy with the elements. Masters of these techniques are usually built around support or subterfuge, but usually both. Because the source of a ninja's power is chakra, those that are able to detect it with any kind of accuracy are able to access tactical options that other ninja are incapable of.
Flawless Aim:This is a style of weaponry skills long favored by specialists in ranged weapons. Users of this style focus on their eyes and hands, trying as best they can to achieve perfect synergy between their ability to analyze information and their ability to act on it.
Jutsu Ninjutsu:
C-Rank Ninjutsu
The user performs a series of hand seals, focusing Raiton into their hand. Three Shuriken-like disks of electricity are formed, and can be thrown as normal. On contact these Shuriken deal some minor piercing damage, followed by a numbness of the damaged area (just 2 inches around the pierced area). With a Strength of 7, these Shuriken can go straight through any material except steel and stronger.
*[Raiton • Clone]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After the user does the needed hand seals, a clone, lacking substance and the ability to interact with its environment, will form. These clones are destroyed after coming into contact with any physical object. As these clones have no free will, they are unable to do more than mimic the user's movements. However, unlike normal clones, these are filled with Raiton chakra. Whenever they disperse, they create a small blast of Raiton chakra in 1 meter in each direction causing slight shocks and numbness. The clone has the following stats:
- Taijutsu: 1
- Stamina: 1
- Strength: 1
- Speed: 1
D-Rank Ninjutsu
The user performs a series of handseals, before placing a small collection of electricity on the ground. When stepped on, this electricity shoots up the leg, causing it to spasm and twitch just enough to distract someone for a few moments. Once placed, the 'mine' lasts for 2 proceeding posts
*[Katon • Mythical Fire Phoenix Technique]
C-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the needed hand seals, the user draws in a deep breath before emitting it in the form of a series of small fireballs, about the size of a basketball at a speed of 6. The ninja can also hurl a projectile, which is covered in these same flames. To the opponent, the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. Even if the flames are put out, the projectiles still converge on the target. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai. The flames can travel up to thirty feet before dissipating. If the flames hit flesh, they will cause minor second-degree burns.
[Katon • Fire Bolt Technique]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand seals, the user draws their bow and arrow. Katon Chakra is infused into the arrow head, and slowly burns from there down to the rest of the bolt. This means the user has but a few seconds to release the arrow before it goes to waste and possibly damages the bow. Once fired however, the shot will not only do the piercing damage of a normal arrow, but now will also inflict burning damage to the area it hit. The burn itself is nothing major, so it is the combination of it with the arrow itself that can make this technique quite painful.
*[Katon • Bomb Creation Technique]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
After forming the needed hand seals and forcing katon chakra into an object that the user is touching, the user will throw the item at a target. On contact, the object lets out a powerful blast of flames in a 3 foot diameter around it that can cause first degree burns and expands with roughly the force of an exploding tag. The user can hold the explosion in the object for a single post but this technique must be released before the post is over or it will fizzle out and waste the chakra. This does not damage the object at the center of the explosion.
[Ninjutsu • Partner Tracking]
D-Rank Sensory Ninjutsu
After performing the correct hand signs, the user places their hand on a person. Imbuing the person with a small amount of their Chakra, the user will be able to distinguish the target from other Chakra sources, as it will contain some of their own Chakra signatures. This lasts as many posts as the user has Control, up to 7.
[Ninjutsu • Chakra Sonar]
D-Rank Sensory Ninjutsu
The user performs a series of hand signs before planting their hand down on the ground. They suddenly become aware of the locations of all Chakra signatures within a 30 feet circumference. This Jutsu can only be maintained by having the hand palm down on the ground, and at the cost of D-Rank Chakra each post proceeding post. Note: The user will not magically know who the detected Chakra belongs to unless they are already familiar with the individual and have sensed their Chakra previously.
History
I - The Kuraku Family The Kuraku family has existed for centuries, and has been consistent for all those years. They have always lived in the Fire Country, often moving around from region to region to farm on new land and hunt in thriving animal habitats. A tale passed down from generation to generation, is that the legendary Kuraku, Jin (at least, legendary among the Kurakus and hunting enthusiasts) came to the Fire Country many, many years ago. He sought a new life there after an attempt on his old life was made. There, in the Fire Country, he found love and settled down. He crafted the Kuraku Family Bow from fine wood, and engraved designs into it that he said brought honour to its user's arrows.
While probably just a legend, there is evidence that suggests Jin may have travelled from the Lightning Country to the one of Fire. This could mean the family owes its true origin to Lightning Country, which would actually explain the affinity for Raiton found in the very few Kuraku children that actually become Shinobi.
They are a family of tradition and values. Farming and hunting are said to be in their blood, as they exist (and have always existed) almost exclusively outside of city walls - with a few exceptions, but we'll get to that soon.
II - Childhood Hikari was born the second son of Sakura and Hiro Kuraku. Hikari's older brother Teng quickly became the baby's best friend. The two were inseparable, constantly seen playing in the farmlands or playing tricks on their father. Teng would read to Hikari at night, and during the day, would teach him how to live off the land. However from a young age, Hikari found himself more interested in the Konoha Shinobi they would occasionally see out on business, than in crops and meat preparation. Even though he must have barely been able to understand, he would light up when he heard tales and saw pictures of the Konoha Shinobi.
One day, Hiro's brother Hei came. Hei was a stern man, and a respected Shinobi. He was the second son to his and Hiro's father, and so as was Kuraku tradition, he had been sent to train at the academy while Hiro lived the farm life. Kurakus generally only had one child, but now, two generations in a row had bred two. Hiro knew instantly why Hei was visiting, and he hated it. He'd seen Hei become a very different person because of the Academy. He didn't want his son to move away.
While this was happening, Teng noticed Hikari's fascination with Shinobi, and felt that Hei was right - not only were Shinobi important for the Fire Country, but it was Kuraku tradition and tradition is important. And so he began to push him (as much as a young child can be pushed anyway). He would make him get up early to run around, lift small logs, meditate (which proved difficult for a toddler, as you can imagine) - all the things he assumed Shinobi did. Sakura and Hiro did not immediately approve. They wanted him to live out a simple life in the country, but eventually Teng and Hei convinced them that it was right, and that he would enjoy it. One son could provide for his country by hunting and farming, while the other served as a Shinobi, protecting the Country that has housed their family for so long. Plus, Hei would be there to keep him safe. They finally agreed to let him go train in Konoha, where he could live at his Hei's house.
III - Konohagakure The day Hikari left the Kuraku farmstead was an unforgettable one. Teng and Hikari's grandmother had been ill for months, and it only seemed to get worse. She had Sakura bring Hikari into her the morning he was due to leave. She told him she was proud of him, and that even though his parents may have thought it was wrong, he would help the Kuraku legacy live on. She told him she loved him, and even though he was so young, the sound of them words stuck in his mind, and to this day he remembers them.
Hikari and his brother Teng sat outside for ages. Teng speculated on how quickly he would become a Jonin, how many bad guys he'd kill in his life time, and above all, when he would be returning home for visits. Teng shed tears as they sat atop the fence that they once played 'last man standing' on. Hikari, not fully understanding his brother's sadness, but being able to sense it, cried too.
Hiro gifted Hikari with the heirloom bow of the Kuraku family. He believed Hikari would need it most, as he would be hunting far more than just wild animals. A small feast was prepared around lunch time, and the Shinobi and future Shinobi departed soon after. Hei took Hikari by the hand and walked him through the woods to Konoha. The journey was long, but Hikari slept for most of it, unaware of (or rather, too young to understand) the world he was about to enter.
Just a day after arriving in Konoha, Hei received a letter explaining that Hikari's and Teng's grandmother (his and Hiro's mother) had passed away. She died in her sleep mere hours after Hikari had been taken to pursue his new life. Nobody thought the conversation he'd had with her that morning would be their goodbyes, but in a way it was appropriate. He took her spirit with him through the necklace and pendant she'd given him, and would forever have something to clutch dearly, as he embarked on a new set of adventures in Konoha. Even if he was too young to remember her face, he would always have a token of her memory.
IV - Genin Life Having made it through the Konoha Shinobi Academy with relative ease, Hikari awaits the future and what it holds. He looks forward to a host of new faces and possibilities as he continues his training as a Genin.
