The shadow of the day

It was just at the end of the day, and the sun was setting as it was close to twilight. Kira was walking through town and finally came to a clearing after walking down a long road. He came to a tree in the middle of the clearing he looked up at the sky. Soon he began to think about everything his team, missions, his family and friends. As he did he became a little depressed and started to have a sad look on his face, but he still was looking up at the sky. Kira's favorite time of the day was twilight he loved how the world was consumed by darkness, and then given light for the day.

Sin, in a desperate attempt to get away from the girls her brothers had brought home for her to 'make friends' with, was strolling down a long road with her hands behind her head and her eyes angled skyward. It had been a fairly uneventful day, the kind that Sin usually tried to spice up with her pranks. But today... after meeting her new sensei and teammate, and pulling her first prank of her genin career, she felt almost... peaceful. Well, except for those bugs she threw at the girls, but they deserved that for even trying to come within 10 feet of the Hokkaido. Something caught the corner of her eye and she turned, spotting a tree in the middle of the clearing with a figure under it. Hm. Interesting... unless it was another girl. She flashed a grin and redirected herself, heading toward the figure instead of continuing down that road.

Kira was still looking up at the sky when he heard something coming down the road. Soon they would be where he was, he did not know if they were passing by or if the person would talk to him. Thinking on what the proper thing would be he pondered if he stopped them that may be rude to intrude there way, if they were just passing by. Though if they stopped to talk to him and he was not standing to great them that may be rude as well. So he stayed sitting at the tree and put a smile on his face trying to look friendly. Even though he was very depressed at the moment but he would not show this to anyone that he did not know yet. So he watched the person soon he could tell was a girl coming up the road.

"Nice night, neh?" she asked once she was close enough to identify the figure as a boy. Without waiting for an answer, she plopped down on the ground near him and directed her eyes toward the sky again. She considered pulling a prank for old time's sake, but she wasn't really in the mood for the usual childish games she usually loved. Hm... maybe Minoru's lack of reaction from before really got to her... not that she'd ever admit it when he was around. Or Kai-sensei, for that matter. A frown tugged at her mouth, but she glanced at her companion and smiled again, though maybe a little forcefully. "So whatcha doin' out here? Too dark for cloud watching, in my opinion."

He seen the girl come up to him and sit next to him, speaking to him kindly. "Yes it is a nice night, and I'm not here to watch the clouds I'm here to watch the sunset and the stars. I come to this spot when I'm thinking about things. Oh how rude of me my name is Kira Asuka, and may I ask what are you doing out here?" He said with a smile looking at the girl wile he was talking trying not to be to rude. Though once he was done talking he looked back up to the sky seeing that it was almost dark.

"I'm Sin Hokkaido. My brothers brought home some girls for me to hang out with, so I had to get out of there before they tried doing girl stuff." She shrugged and leaned back into the grass, using her hands for a pillow as she also stared up at the sky. "So whatcha thinkin' about? Or am I being too nosy?" She turned her head to look over at this Kira Asuka guy. He didn't seem too bad... at least he wasn't jumpy, which meant he probably had never heard of her pranks. Oh well.

Kira looked at her as she spoke to him, trying to keep focus on her to be polite. As she was done he looked back up into the sky closing his eye's going back in to his deep thought. Then he opened his eye's wondering how he should answer her question, but honesty is always the best policy. "I'm thinking of my mother, and how I miss her so much. Though I'm also worried that I may end up like her on my next mission with my team. Though if that was to happen then that is my fate but it still does not mean that I'm sad. So I can tell that your not like normal girls, most I know love to spend time with other girls." Kira said looking towards the ground closing his eyes for a minute and opening them again.

"Girls are weak and useless. All they care about is their nails, their hair... the boys on their team..." She rolled her eyes. "I'm glad it's just me and Minoru on my team for the time being, that way we won't be distracted by some idiot kunoichi's crush on him or Kai-sensei. But anyway, about your mom... reminds me of my dad, except I'm gonna go out and find him one day because there's no way that he's dead." She sat up and thumped her chest proudly. "We are Hokkaido. We are men. Well.... maybe not all of us..." She laughed and scratched the back of her neck before leaning back again. "Anyway... so you're worried about team missions, neh? Disappearing, or dying, or something?"

Kira looked down to the ground and thought of his mother deeply after Sin mentioned her. She was talking about bring her back but little did she know that his mother was dead. "I wish I could bring her back but she is dead, she died on a mission a few years ago. Though she was very close to me and I don't want to have her same fate. What happened to your father if you don't mind me asking? As he asked his question Kira turned his head towards Sin looking into her eyes.

"Oh, you know, the usual." She shrugged, sitting up. "He went on a mission after I started at the academy, and I haven't seen him since. But he's alive out there, I know it. So once my team goes out on missions and Kai-sensei trains us enough, I'm gonna get Minoru and we're gonna go and find him." She grinned brightly, purposely avoiding the subject of his mother after she heard the word 'dead'. She didn't do well with death. It was a real conversation killer.

Kira nodded slightly then looked back up to the sky as it was dark now, and the stars were out in the nights sky. Thinking that it would it have been better if his mother was not found, and he had the hope of her being alive. Then he realized that it was for the best for him to know now so he would not be worried everyday. "Your right I'm sure you will find him one day and you will be a family again." Kira said with a smile trying to hold back his own depression, but he was starting to fail miserably, and almost started to cry.

She noted the expression on his face and frowned just a little. "Hey, Kira, brighten up, neh? Depression isn't healthy." She raised a brow and reached toward him hesitantly, poking his arm lightly. "There's other people that care about you, ya know? If you're always sad about your mom, then those other people will think they're not important." She pulled back and adjusted the goggles on her head. "I'd rather be in your position, knowing for a fact if he's alive or dead."

He started to think but still was depressed on the whole matter at hand. For he had been depressed for a long time, and this was just who he is. For it will be a long time before he gets over it and nothing to him could change it now, but he put a smile on his face looking much more happier. "Your right Sin there is nothing to be depressed about I'm sure things will also be fine with your family one day." Kira said looking up at the nights sky, not knowing what to think at this moment in time.

She laughed. "Maybe, maybe not. It's the hope that counts, after all." She sat back, staring up at the sky, her grin widening. "Man, I miss watching the stars every night. My dad and uncle used to bring me and my brothers out here when we were really little, but after he went off on his mission, my uncle was never in the mood for it." She glanced over at him, tilting her head slightly to the side. "Is that why you come to watch the stars? Because it reminds you of your mom?"

Kira stood up and walked in front of her, looking down at Sin. "Na i just come here to think some things out and watch the sunset, it help calm me down. Though I hope to see you again but I have to go now its getting late." He said as he took of going back down the road to go home. Though once he was out of sight of her he soon lost his smile and did not know how to feel about what she said.
