[Mission] Like sheep to slaughter

Post by Kao » Wed Nov 17, 2010 8:55 pm

Just after midday, the village was eerily quiet and appeared to be deserted. The only signs of life were the thin columns of om store to store, quickly gathering supplies before locking themselves in their homes agasmoke snaking from the backs of houses and large mounds of dirt, piled high with multicolor flowers, with several dozen footprints leading away from the scenes. Near the center of the town, a few brave individuals went frin.

The villagers were terrified.

The village leader was not there to greet the hired shinobi. He had made it clear that the ninja was to get in, capture the murderer, and free the town from their paralyzing fear of being killed.

Houses lined the outskirts of the village. Several walls of the homes were smeared with blood that was hastily, though not completely, scrubbed clean. Lines of crimson were testament to the mysterious slaughter that had plagued the village for nearly three weeks.

It was only a matter of time before they found the next victim, lying in a pool of their own blood, brutally killed.

The sound of small worried voices annoyed Taisaku a little bit. But he understood where their fear was coming from. Their days as peaceful people in a peaceful place, for a long peaceful time had been thrown carelessly like glass, and as a result, shattered to pieces. With death running from within their community few by few. In his years as a Shinobi, Taisaku hadn’t before seen such an area filled with fear and question. It felt like he entered at the wrong time, with all these depressed faces.

This actually meant he arrived at the right time.

The mission request had been direct and understandable, to stop a murderous perpetrator. Only to be simplified even more as he saw the trails of blood and bodies. Whoever had done this cared little about the living. In a way, Taisaku could understand if they held some kind of mental disorder and/or saw some sad things in the past that changed them. It was sad to think how people could experience the worst happenings in this shinobi world. Then again, being a Sentinel for so long bestowed him the mental structure having more familiarity to the duty at hand, and could only look at a crime like this with high disapproval. The person, no matter how or when this person turned into a spiteful and careless beast, he had to stop them. Not only because it was his duty. But because he much rather see the good outweigh the bad anywhere.

Believe it.

Since there were trails of dead people marked throughout the area, Taisaku called in Vigourmerl. Told it to search on out for groups of dead bodies. And so it went soaring. As it searched, he looked around to see if he could detect another set of dead people. Although the bird might do better than he could ever, it didn’t hurt to try himself and possibly find something small. Better than doing nothing.

He saw one of the brave few, and asked "Give me the details. What does this person or people look like? How long ago was this slaughter in particular? Anything you have will be useful. rest assured."

Sotsuu [Mutual Understanding]
D-Rank Ninjutsu
This jutsu is used by the Sentinels to communicate with their bird partners. This works in the same fashion as basic telepathy, but the fact remains that telepathy with animals is little more than an understanding of how they’re feeling or what they’re seeing, which means that certain details are often lost in translation.

[Mission] Like sheep to slaughter

What the villagers didn’t know was that they were actually aiding their slaughter. Something humans have become too morally evolved to remember, but wild animals never forget, is that there are safety in numbers. If one is being hunted, one has better chances in a herd than they do by themselves. In a herd, they can hope the guy next to them gets killed. When they’re locked inside their own houses however, there’s no such luck.

And staying true to the metaphor, Z’s face looked like that of a hungry predator. He pulled out his magnetic sword, practically drooling as he did so. He couldn’t help but smile as the magnet revealed the small dagger hidden beneath the sleeping couples pillow, as If it would protect them.

The dagger dragged out from beneath the pillows, seeming alive as it fought against the weight of its owners head. Finally, it came free and flew onto Z’s sword, producing a loud metallic clang as it did so. Which is when shit hit the fan for the poor couple.

The dagger’s noise woke them up, which is what the hungry lion expected. With a sickening laugh, he leapt up onto their bed and stabbed the man in the head with the sword before pulling out the attached dagger and stabbing the woman in the heart. He laughed loudly as the couple gave their last dying yell.

Feeling satisfied, he pulled back his sword and put it back into its tiny sheath. His smile increased as he leapt out of a window and heard more screams from the houses around him. Although their exits weren’t as dramatic as Z’s jump-out-of-window-fall-with-torrent-of-glass, their weapons were equally coated in blood and their victims were equally dead.

The group stood in the center of the road, waiting to see if there would be any reaction. They were getting bored of going from house to house and were hoping a hero or something of the sort would show up.

Z was already preparing for his fun, performing some hand seals as he stood.
SpoilerShow
No Hands
A-ranked Fuuinjutsu
By using this Jutsu once every 7 posts, the user can activate fuuinjutsu without using hand seals. This Jutsu in itself requires hand seals, however. Once the Jutsu is performed, pockets of chakra are sent throughout the users body and rest beneath or around every single tattoo. Once the user concentrates on which tattoo to activate, they can activate the seal without having to perform hand seals. This can be used in conjunction with other fuuinjutsu unsealing techniques, such as partial activation and ballistic summons. This jutsu allows Z to activate up to 5 seals per post.

A man, unfortunate enough to be hurrying by, nearly had a heart attack when a man fell from the window. He was petrified for several moments before he turned and ran away, a hand firmly clamped on his mouth to prevent himself from screaming.

Poor fellow. He was probably going to be killed unless someone happened to be nearby to save him.

Before Taisaku could even hear a word out of the old man, Vigourmerl heard the sound of screams bursting not so far away. It started to drift to the direction. While doing so, it alarmed Taisaku of what it now witnessed. It was a little far from where Taisaku was, but with the speed he could release, it wouldn't take long to reach there.

Still soaring in the air, the bird circled around and tried to scan all who was there. Naturally, it saw running people and a man falling from a window. The time it approached the area, it didn't notice the leaping man's followers. They all stood still together on a road though. As if they're waiting for something. But to the bird's knowledge, it couldn’t tell the feared from the fearless; just the man leaping so aggressively out of the window, making additional screams come out of people. This beast had been marked to be Taisaku's target.

For now, Vigourmerl was just there to be surveillance.

"Here I come," Taisaku said. From how it looked, it was as if he were talking to himself. He wasn't good with the telepathy technique just yet. It was something he learned not too long ago, probably the latest technique so far.

As he ran, hopping from tree to tree, he wondered how destructive this man was. If this man caused so much ruckus all by himself, he could be a troublesome character indeed. As if Taisaku would ever back from a terrible challenge. In fact, he taunted death by leaping faster towards his destination, fast enough to make his surroundings appear distorted and blurry in his eyes.

Z pointed at the man that was walking away while looking at J, giving a nod and making a hand motion that included jutting out his thumb and scraping it across his neck. Despite being abnormally stupid, J understood and pulled out his bow and arrow.

The man had absolutely no chance, the arrow flew with deadly accuracy, aiming straight for his head.

As this went on, the rest of the henchmen were beginning to walk away, ready to repeat the process of murder. As Z turned to leave, however, he suddenly felt something coming. It was a powerful presence, he could tell. A dangerous one, one that could cause agonizing pain if he didn’t do something about it.

So quickly, he ran over to Jay, grabbed him by the head, and pushed him down. He made it so Jays face was right beneath his ass when he released a monstrous fart. It was both absurdly loud and absurdly disgusting, even the hardened J couldn’t help but vomit automatically.

Z laughed maniacally as he gave a final little “toot” and let his henchman go, collapsing to the ground in a fit of laughter as J kept kneeled on the ground, vomiting. It actually looked like J was a victim instead of an accomplice.

Taisaku's body was zooming. From tree to tree until he could see the checkpoint himself. Right on time, he landed on both feet and noticed the actions of this small group of villians. The repeat of their tyranny made his face feel drained for a second. Only to reemerge, through a crack in the surface with irked fury. The golden shine in his eyes began to flicker under the sunlight. Like a real hawk.

The scene felt warm, filled with screams and despair. Not that it all made him think of it all as pretty. Obviously the expression in his eyes showed that he was not amused.

He started walking to one of them. The one he figured would be the leader. His hair was short but his body looked well built. He cared less about the clothes he chose to wear today. For today will be his very last. There was no time to act kind or merciful. These thugs were not on the level of being respected at all.

For Vigourmerl, he waited over a home. Not even twelve feet away from his friend. Soaring could mean danger or something. And like a vulture, it stared. Waiting to take appropriate measures on defending Taisaku. When the human spoke, the bird turned its head to them.

"I did not come here to ask you to leave or apprehend any of you. To put it simply:"
"I am here to kick some ass."

Z stopped laughing suddenly as a shadow was cast over his face, somebody standing above him. He wasn't even going to wait for the man to speak, but he was ecstatic when he heard what they said anyways. With that confidence, they had to have some skills to back it up.

He spoke while remaining on the ground, putting his magnet sword into its sheath and pulling out his dream eater one instead. "A fight 'eh? Mk. Jashin could always do with some more bodies." Abruptly, he arched back his legs and quickly launched himself into the air in an impressive display of taijutsu. The instant he landed, he swung the sword around and aimed it for the mans shoulder. At the angle it was going at now, it wouldn't really be a a major wound, just a nice cut to the shoulder. What might have been a major wound, however, would be the arrow that was clutched in Jay's hand.

As Z and the man spoke, Jay stood and grabbed an arrow, using it as a weapon and darting forward. He was coming from behind the newcomer, aiming to stab him in the back. At the same time, the other henchmen turned as well and began walking towards Z, not sure whether this target would be an issue or not.

He made communication with his bird. He asked who all were there standing. It told him all who were left in the area. One happened to be behind him. While Z talked, that's when he said: Warn me if anyone tries to attack. I find interruptions even more annoying...

The battle had already begun little after than. Taisaku could smell the bloodshed coming. He didn't feel any better from the annoying sentence this beast uttered. When the words 'more bodies' came out, the Sentinel in him kicked in.

That's when the assailant, Z, swung the sword around and struck for Taisaku's shoulder. He had to take measures to avoid the well done procedure. With amazing Taijutsu himself, he made a dip and turnaround; he twirled to his left with as much accuracy his golden eyes could determine, and avoided the slash coming his way, while allow himself to turn around when his bird telepathically warned him about an attack coming from behind. Turned his head to dodge it.

He wanted to thank Vigourmerl for tell him in their telepathic communicator of the assailant from behind him. But knew the moment meant he had to go with the flow with it all and go for a counterattack against the latest strike.

Using his Chakra Release, he summoned Junbei...

With no time to spare after doding the arrow, and all the adrenaline, he struck jay to the chest with his 4 yard sword. Then made the sword vanish. It was so fast, Jay might not have had the chance to see it all coming. Taisaku didn't find it fun or lucky, for this was a living person he had to strike down furiously.

"I can't stand intrusions..."

He said hoping to turn around and defend from Z on time.

OOC: Jay didn't shoot an arrow, he gripped it like a kunai and tried to stab you with it. So he's like, right behind you trying to attack. I don't mind going with the flow and not having you edit, but it wouldn't make much sense with the whole speed jutsu thing.

Oh, ok. I was confused at first. Thinking "how'd he get behind me far enough to shoot an arrow if Z farted on his face not long ago?" Now I see. And edited accordingly.

It'll be my 10 speed against Jay's 2 though...

The second Z’s attack was dodged, he could see what would happen next. By the speed at which the man dodged and the flow with which he was moving, he would most definitely end up striking Jay. So armed with this knowledge and the tiny sliver of time he had with the man switching from dodging to attacking, Z performed a hand seal and body flickered.

He reappeared right beside Jay was standing. He cared little for Jays health, really, he was just interested in getting a good attack in. So he gave Jay a push while stabbing forward as the man lunged forward with his sword. Jay barely dodged the slash, it managed to get him in the left side as he fell to the side. Z was hoping the man’s propelling forward to attack would make dodging his sword more difficult.

If the sword wasn’t dodged, it would penetrate somewhere around the man’s shoulder. It certainly wouldn’t be a fatal wound, but it would most likely hurt quite a bit.

The intensity in this fight just grew to newer heights. Just as he figured, this ninja was powerful. The way he reappeared beside of his ally Jay, only to push him aside and swing his very own weapon had made Taisaku want to give him credit. He did, in fact, save his ally's life. But this also provided the information to him that Jay was slow, and maybe a close friend. Detatchement was necessary. Taisaku had to break this apparent leader's spirit as much as he could do. It didn't require a Sentinel to know: a broken mind loses.

It has been at least two years since he had to take action so soon. he felt reenergized going for a swift follow-up. With still some action left in him, and vision totally clear, he took the obligation to do the same what Z had done. And reappear from one spot to another [1/2].

This relocation happened to be 70 degrees from Jay's back. Because of the speed displayed between Z and Taisaku, Jay shouldn't be able to react after being pushed away just less than a second ago. The motion drawn between him from Z was a sucess, with the sword of Z cutting only the air it sang. While he stood so closely to Jay, he took measures before the man could even fall to the ground officially, and went for a 'shank' summoning Junbei again, bursting out several thrusts to his torso, face, pelvis, and neck. This technique he just did hardly has ever seen the light of usage. And to be honest, he didn't know why. Though this moment had reminded him of the Chuunin exams...

--------- Techniques Used ---------

*Tsuki Senjutsu [Thrust Tactics]
C-ranked Taijutsu
Prerequisite - Taijutsu stat of 4 or higher. Bladed weapons, staffs (usually longer weapons, but users with a high taijutsu stat may use almost anything)
After carefully analyzing their opponent’s movements and defense, the user then moves into close quarters, making swift and purposeful stabs at any weak point that presents itself. This applies to weak points in armor, an opening in a taijutsu, or the short period of time used while performing hand seals.

Z turned immediately as his target disappeared. He had no way of knowing where he’d reappear, of course, but when somebody body flickered, it was almost always to appear behind him. Z’s angle was a little off, but he was close enough.

Jay had no time to dodge. All he could do was reach his hands out reflexively. Like his leader, pain didn’t bother Jay too much, he felt it a lot more than Z, but it wasn’t enough to put him into shock. So after the second stab into his torso, Jay attempted to grip the man’s hand to stop him from pulling away. Even with the man’s speed, Jays arms were already in position and the man was directly in front of him. It wouldn’t be much, but it would definitely cause the man to at least pause to have his arm released.

With no care in the world for Jay, Z lunged his sword forward once more, this time aiming for a more fatal wound. He aimed straight for the man’s heart.

By now, the rest of his henchmen were appearing and creating a circle around the fight. When the enemy appeared in front of J, N threw a kunai at his head from behind, Y threw one at his ribs from the left and C threw one from his right. Leaving unscathed from this one would be difficult.

Vigourmerl looked into the scene for a while. It didn't get into the fray until Taisaku had trouble. The bird saw the group circling around Taisaku, and learned that conflict was going to set afoot. The way it stared into the whole scene made it seem as though it finally had something to do. It didn't feel bored. It had no human qualities or the quantity in its mind's storage. All it knew was to combat and befriend Taisaku. Since friendship was important to it, combat was beginning to become inevitable.

It warned Taisaku of this while the man had been stabbing Jay. Amazingly, Jay took only two impalements, catching a well skilled Taijutsu by half some odd reason. Still, two hits was enough to put him out of the fight. With two good wounds to the torso, unless he carried the amount of Stamina Taisaku or Itazuki he would not have any capability to continue. Those strikes were skillfully aimed on the torso. May not have been the heart, but things that were near to its importance. He twisted the blade by the time Jay was on the floor for reassurance of his decommission.

Speaking of heart; not even a second when Jay made the fall, coming from Taisaku's side was the carefully charging Z. He didn't need Vigourmerl's telepathy to tell him that he was surrounded either. But the bird knew very well to warn him at any case should someone attack.

Taisaku figured it was time to end this... With his Junbei away from his hands and grappled by Jay, it would look like he faced the attacker like a mad man. With one handseal, he leaped a little back and stumbled over. Z was a little close, so leaping had to be done, and with him stumbling on its landing. Taisaku could reassure he had everything under control now... well almost. Vigourmerl immediately warned him of more assails. These were thrown Kunai. Three of them. Although they were a lot slower than him, the actions he had done took a toll of his time. When Vigourmerl told him one was aiming for his head, he could only duck as his hands relieved themselves from the handseal from the Genjutsu against Z. Then another flying pair where aiming for his ribs were at. Since he went ducking, the two oncoming actually impaled both shoulders instead of his ribs.

Darn it... Vigourmerl. It is time.

With that, the bird went for a leap. It wasted no time, and was as joltingly fast as its owner when it appeared. It kept itself behind the battle still. It had no reasons to. The raven performed a technique called Chain Reaction. With it, all opposing listeners to its screech will be hit with a Genjutsu built out of chains straight from the ground. The chains would be heavy enough to hold down everyone. N, Y, C, Z, and J included.

________Techniques Used________

Taisaku
Stumble
D-Rank Genjutsu
The user will stumble after a handseal. Seeing that activates the Genjutsu. This fake and slight stumble trigger makes the opponent actually stumble a big one, but doesn't really make them fall. This is good to use if the user were going for a Taijutsu attack with a Gen/Tai combination. This is useless to use if the user isn't close enough to perform any Tai.

Vigourmerl
Chain Reaction
B-Ranked Genjutsu
The user will have his Raven begin preparing and creating its trigger by having to touch the surface and screech. Those listening will begin to see the ground summon chains made of stone, latching to their wrist and ankles; with a weight pretty much unable for the arms and legs to move. They feel like the real deal, able to hold them down. Those with a Strength above 5 be set free, or else be held for four posts.
