Trait Poll!

Post by sazhuy » Wed Dec 15, 2010 11:21 am

Well me and a whole bunch of other people are annoyed at this new trait system. Not all of them are against it all together but there is some degree that it just royally pisses them off. It is way to limiting in my opinion and I think it should be fixed, so I decided on making a poll so.

I am not sure what all the ideas are out there and if you have any more options or want to add some opinions here please do so. This is just trying to find what the general consistence of the site thinks of the trait system. For if there is to many members that hate it down to their core being and they leave from it well the site will die so doing this hopefully we can find a way and stop that from happening.

This is a stupid poll -_- People will just vote for what benefits them and some will vote without knowing the actual system.

I feel that a different system or a better working trait system is required if we really are to try and limit the number of stuff people have, so I voted for the 4th option.

I don't think the trait system in the current state works but I also think increasing the number of traits is a tiny little band aid that doesn't really do anything for the wound, another thing is that it's clear some sort of system probably needs to be put in to stop chars like Orius' twins but the way this one is it's not the right system IMO.

For the people that are voting "no" please explain why. It doesn't do any good for stuff like this.

Well I know im new and my opinion is probably the lesser of the greater majority but i have fully read the new rules and its just too limiting in my opinion. I mean Orius (zangy) should know full well what me and Yaku have been working on. Its the earth grudge fear technique and with the new trait rule i can already tell you that its going to take up all 5 slots. This just creates this huge limiting factor to my character and it may not even be worth doing. If my character already starts with 5 slots i feel like there is this huge bearing down of "what can i really do with my character now"? I mean we have spent a week or so working on this and now with this new rule it makes a character like mine super lame to create because after that there isnt much i feel i can do.

On top of that characters that are being grand fathered in are now out of the range of most new players to ever even hope of beating. A rule like this is just to late in the game to be adding. The last thing i want to see is peoples character they have spent a year plus on have to get toned down, or even worse thrown out. I mean i know that the main point of this was to limit people in clans but after thinking about it most ninja in naruto are from clans anyways, its rare to see some one not from a clan. Outside of that there could be great characters that arent in clans like myself (or hope to be once my character is made).

But thats the point of RPing to make a character you like with cool customizations. So is it really up to the higher ups (admins or mods) to try to drag people away from what they really want to do? If people like being in clans then great! if they dont then even better. Thats all im saying i know im new but from a new players perspective after reading all the rules and doing some research on the past rules and reading up on most of the clans and comparing the slot requirements and stuff, its a broken system thats only gonna achieve upsetting people and pushing people down from the bright future they picture their character being.

Thanks for reading ^^

See but the trait system isn't in place to take away 'cool customisations', but to put a limit to the amount of cool customisations that people can have. I mean, under the current system, there's nothing stopping someone from hogging five really good gimmicks to one character, plus having a clan on top, simply because the clan will give a boost. Maybe the total amount of traits available could stand to change, and the grandfathering could be (and I think it is being) looked into, but on the whole, this system can only improve the RP.

I pretty much said what Saigo said on my first reply to this stuff.

If Ayame say she is trying to learn from the new system with ellipses in her introduction thread, it's important to take that to thought. If Saigo is saying it is broken, it is important to take that into thought. If I said this saying how it affects the new and will kill the RP overtime, and new people are actually feeling the same and saying the same things I am saying, you should just tear it down.

I said I would stop talking about it. But I kind of care about your site you guys lol. If I seen this before, I am trying to do my best to explain that stuff like this have the same ending results. Ask Darkfire, another new person from Engi (that started the Naruto stat system).

It's a good system you have here. I can only say this again, and again, and again. It makes total sense, but you just need to understand the psychological effect than the logical; "not everything that can make the RP better is best for the RP". There are a lot of people who will outright give up because there's limits in the site. Didn't a kid say he didn't like the system in chat (MrAnon)? I told you before he even joined today, new people will here and there say things in chat (read my first reply to your tpic), and you should listen. This is only a day of this stuff, and what I said in that first post is quickly showing. I thought it wouldn't come in a year. This is also why I am replying again, the new people's reply came a little quick and frightening.

Because they are the fresh eyes to a system we, and even better, the new eyes that seen the post-Trait development and the pre-trait development, as older members, can understand it and will really agree to it if we work it together. But still it has a limit nonetheless at the end of the day. If there's new people in the act this fast, it's best we just say "It's a good idea, but the limits might affect our longevity"

It's accomplishing to build something grand, but hard to tear it down because it looks so magnificent.

I don't say "I've seen this years and years" for craps and giggles. Before I said "don't go too far" after the pyramids in June, and this was nearly two to three weeks after I joined. I knew this kind of thing all too well, and it didn't end prettily after just a year in other websites.

With this brand new Trait ordeal, you're closing in on yourself. Again (lol) it makes sense, members will try to comply and agree, but there's times when you need to put good ideas in the wastebasket.

[Now I'm done. I'm just here to warn. Not trying to hurt your intelligence. But this is something I really do know about and has been the fall of some pretty epic websites.]
