It was late in the afternoon, a slight breeze blew across the forest, trees swaying into a beautiful synchronized dance. The mans long blonde hair grazed against his cheek, and over his glasses, forcing him to lift up his hand and wipe it out from in front of his pearly blue eyes. Behind him, 4 people walked along. They also seemed unphased and completely unaware of the world around them as they walked, their eyes trained perfectly on the tall man. He wasn't that big, around, but still somehow managed to have a intimidating look about him, as if he had something up his sleeve.

”I do believe we've found them,” Renji murmured quietly. He and his partner were maybe fifty yards distant, having stopped and took cover behind a large tree upon catching site of their quarry and his possie- under some sort of sway, no doubt, though how dangerous they actually were was yet to be seen.

His hands eased together, and soon he was able to sense the chakra signatures of the coming party. Smirking as a plan formed in his mind, he withdrew four of his pre-tagged kunai. Quickly and quietly, he darted about, jabbing a kunai into four tree trunks to create a rough square, about twenty feet by twenty feet, utilizing trees near the path, two trees on each side. He set the knives in such a way that they wouldn't be visible until the tree in question had been passed, but so that the force would travel toward the path.

”You should make it hard to see, once they're in range,” he whispered with a smirk as he ducked back to join Yaku. ”This is going to be fun. Our first real outing together. We should go for dinner afterward... I'm thinking tempura? We can decide afterward.” He focused, keeping tabs on them on their approach without actually having to lay eyes on them.

For the sake of reference, the tree they were behind was ~10 to the right of the path/trap.

This jutsu is an extension of [Beyond Senses]. With this jutsu initiated, a sensor can focus on individual chakra signatures to get a precise idea of where their opponents are at up to 25 yards. A general sense of the direction and number of chakra sources can be determined at about 50 yards. It should be noted that this jutsu requires intense concentration, often making the user shut their eyes so as to focus on the jutsu solely. Even with high levels of Chakra Control and Wit, this jutsu can be mentally taxing as it requires the user to sort through the individual chakra sources in the sensor’s range.

"Shut Up, Renjiro." Yaku ordered coldly. His lack of enthusiasm was very much apparent and he raised a single finger to his lips. "Underestimate them and you'll die."

Yaku only needed a single glimpse before utilizing his sensor abilities. If there was one thing that a Fushinkou could do, it was patience. He sat and hid in the shrouds of the trees as he counted their steps. The forest obscured any sight and the S-rank Missing nin was posed at ready.

As the five targets approached, his chakra tingled. When/IF they came within range of the tags, he would release the start of the trap. His notorious jutsu... the black mist. His arm extended into the air and his gray eyes became shrouded in the darkness. The environment took a new shade.

As the group continued forward, a black mist rolled in, and he immediately threw up a hand. The entire group stopped immediately, in perfect tandem, as if they had just been frozen. What was going on? His eyes moved to corner to corner, analyzing the situation, before holding up his hand again, with only 4 fingers showing. The group moved, making a square around him.

Doing a quick set of hand seals, he smiled, beginning to talk, "Mind telling me your name?", he called out. His voice seemed to ring.

A-rank Hypnotic Genjutsu
The user will do a series of hand seals, then call out a desire for information. Anyone that hears this call will give this information to him based on their wit stat. Typically, anyone with wit less than his will give out the information immediately (those with 3/4~1/1 his wit can urge themselves to resist if their genjutsu stat is also 3/4~1/1 his genjutsu stat). Those with a wit greater than his own can typically resist the genjutsu. This technique only lasts for the duration of the immediately following cycle, ending when the information is given or otherwise.

The genjutsu managed to catch Renjiro in it's sway; ”Yamanaka Renjiro” he replied virtually automatically, brow furrowing even as he did. There was no reason for him to answer. Tactically speaking, it was insanely foolhardy. They'd have his position, now, which meant he had to move, and to prevent it from happening again.

He dragged another bursting tagged kunai from his hip pouch and flung it toward the grouping of chakra signatures that he discerned as their quarries, aiming generally for the one in the center, the one who had asked the question. He was already moving and forming handseals. They'd hear a few foot steps and then nothing at all as his silence jutsu took effect, robbing the area around him of sound. The instant it was in place, he changed his direction in order to throw them off if they attempted to divine his location using the foot steps he'd allowed them to hear.

Because of the mist, the kunai attack would be unseen. Knowing the speed it was traveling at (because he'd thrown it) and the distance to the target, rather than let the kunai strike, Renjiro would be activating the tag when the weapon was within one meter of the man, in order to catch him in a partial explosion. If they avoided it, he'd simply not activate it and possibly make use of it later.

He'd darted more or less to a position ten feet forward of his former one, all told, and used a hand to silently find a tree to take cover behind.

This technique assists in operations requiring the user to remain unnoticed. After pursuing the necessary handseals, the user distorts sound around himself, nullifying all noises completely in a 10' diameter around himself. The technique lasts for three posts, but may be continually refreshed provided that the user makes the handseals and expends the chakra.

A jutsu used with the purpose of activating seals and a range of devices and weapons, this technique begins with a single handseal. Once this has been performed, the user will focus a dollop of his/her chakra into what s/he is looking to activate in order to complete the task. Seals activated with this technique must be within 20 yards of the user's position.

Idiot...

Yaku cursed under his breath at his partners weakness. As soon as Renjiro's name slipped from his lips, Yaku became convinced of his opponents demise. That name was worth a small bounty and valuable to the organizations secrecy. He couldn't afford to let a single one of them escape. The S-ranks passive and complacent face winced only slightly as he shrugged off the effects of the Hypnosis. The chakra twisted and warped through the human body, but the Fushinkou was blessed with a superior build.

Only one name was spoken. Perfect.

Yaku would remain low and hide in the comfort of his concealment. He was a patient man and eyed his accomplice with mild interest. When their opponent was convinced that only one of them existed, he would make his move. Hopefully Renjiro wasn't as weak as he speculated.

Musou and Shinbou curled around both of his wrists. They were anxious.

When Renjiro called out a name, the man instinctively took two steps forward, and three steps diagonal. His 4 groupies followed suit, staying within perfect formation. "What do you know about Yamanaka?", he asked the one that made up the upper left corner of their square.

"Konoha clan. Uses a unique brand of mind-body transferring technique to take over the opponent's body. Relatively slow technique though. Requires target to remain in place once the mind is fire.", he announced. The man nodded, he opened his mouth as if he was about to speak, but a explosion set off. Knocking him backwards. He fell to his butt, but quickly stood back up to hold composure. The group had moved almost perfectly with him as he fell, making it even weirder.

Dusting himself off, he stared off into the dark mist. Running a hand through the air, he hummed, 'This isn't something a konoha ninja could produce. Mist jutsu are unique to Kirigakure...an ally immune to my jutsu?', he thought.

Well, if they were just going to stand still...

Advancing silently, he picked his way toward another tree, one roughly just shy of 20 feet to the right of the pack of chakra signatures. Placing his hands together, he quickly molded chakra, transferring one of his senbon needles onto his tongue. Chakra formed about it, and he spat, launching it quickly toward the group. Again, he aimed it at the center figure.

This time, the explosion that resulted from the super-charged senbon would be much larger, a little more than 16 feet in diameter, likely enough to catch all five of them.

There's no way that they can see in the mist. If they could, they'd already be attacking. How, then, are the moving in such precise formation? It wasn't just following; it was simultaneous. Some sort of mind link, perhaps?

He'd see how they reacted to this before planning his next move. Let Yaku sit out, if he wished.

B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Prereq: Hidden Needles, Torpedo Needles, one senbon
The user performed a string of handseals, tranferring a single senbon from his person into his mouth where it is charged with chakra. The user then fires it out, sending it in a straight line toward a target a maximum of 6 meters away at Speed 7. Upon impact or reaching max range, the charged needle explodes with the force of 5 exploding tags. Visible chakra wreaths the needle, making it easier to see and likely hinting at how it dangerous it is.

Hmm... I guess I can always speed it up a bit.

Yaku came down from his high perch and momentarily entered the battle. He did not see them or need to see them. He was a fair, but a close distance away. Nothing went unnoticed from his mastery over the tenketsu. Their intricate chakra systems were riddled with clues. Judging from their unilateral movement and the hypnosis jutsu that his opponent had unleashed, the middle target was plainly the culprit. From Renjiro's own mistake, the S-rank could only assume that the rest were bound by the same effects. Yaku knew exactly how to deal with these type.

Hopefully Renjiro will learn a thing or two...

Yaku performed a series of seals and channeled the chakra from his left hand to circulate Musou's Genjutsu. The white eel perked and twisted its body upward. Its head poked out of the sleeve as the human and beast entwined themselves together in the genjutsu.

When the wind was quiet and the world was silent, a loud whistle interrupted the air. Yaku had initiated his jutsu. The rain gently fell and the mist covered its footprints.

The targets would be forced to kai out or find themselves asleep. It would also deconstruct the genjutsu and free them from their bind. Either way, Yaku was going to poke holes through the mans control. The process would be costly and detrimental towards their opponent. This was the perfect opportunity to attack.

Yaku raised an eyebrow just in time to notice his partners technique.

Mizu Shouja no Jutsu [Water of Nirvana Technique]
A-ranked Genjutsu
Mizu Shouja no Jutsu is a Genjutsu technique that allows the caster to place a large body of people into an unconscious state. The jutsu starts when Musou jabs its fangs into Yaku. This will follow with an illusion of heavy rain falling down, and, if the opponent is good enough in genjutsu, they will be able to realize this jutsu and use Kai. Yaku is ineffective by this jutsu.

As the rain began, the man threw his arms into the air. One of the followers did a quick series of hand seals, and spun, sending a whirl wind from his body. The follower that had been talking earlier was knocked to the ground, be almost immediately stood back up. The weaponry flying at them was knocked back, and the mist receeded away from them by a bit. However, the rain continued to fall, and the drowsy feeling began to over-take him.

"It's a genjutsu.", he did the kai hand seal and released himself, before doing a short string, and pointing a finger at each person, as if he was shooting them.

"Why don't you attack straight-forward? Can't you see we're a physically weak group of people?", he asked.

The user will do a short series of hand seals, then spin in a circle. From their bodies, a sphere of wind will release. The sphere is weak, knocking over anyone will less than 3 strength. It's primary use it knocking back visionary blocks & projectiles, acting as an surround defense. It can only push as far as 7 meters, however.

Being as hypnotism techniques are genjutsu, this is a sort of half-kai, that gets rid of only the newest layer of genjutsu, allowing any other genjutsu to remain. The user simply does hand seals, the points at the person he's kai-ing with a finger, releasing them from the technique

We'll see about that, now, won't we? Renji shifted out from behind his tree, still unseen and unheard, and began forming hand seals for one of his clan's hijutsu.

He projected the molded chakra toward one of the four flankers (let's say the closest one? Sure). The earlier trick, the one that had caused him to call out his name, that was genjutsu. Odds were that the technique responsible for this hive mind effect was similar in nature. Time to put it to the test against real mind control.

Provided that the chakra hit, the shinobi in question would become “deranged”, attacking his allies for a while. Renji would just sit back and observe while the chaos unfolded, getting a measure of their fighting strength beyond what the man had likely lied.

Once that was done, he'd slip back behind the tree and begin somewhat clumsily extracting a tagged kunai from his pouch while maintaining the final hand seal of his technique.

~Shinranshin no Jutsu [Mind Derangement Technique]
B-Ranked Ninjutsu
Shinranshin no Jutsu was developed by the Yamanaka to aid in fighting multiple opponents. The Yamanaka member forms the needed handseals and then sends chakra at an opponent. If the chakra hits the opponent, then the Yamanaka member is able to 'derange' the opponent into attacking their own allies. The deranged individual is fully conscious of their actions, but is unable to stop their body from carrying out the attacks. All attacks made under the influence of this technique will be taijutsu in nature. Unlike ~Shintenshin no Jutsu [Mind Body Change Technique], the Yamanaka member is able to retain consciousness allowing them to defend themselves. Because the last handseal must be maintained to keep the jutsu active, the Yamanaka member is unable to perform any jutsu requiring handseals. Lasts for 2 posts.

[Yaku Fushinkou]

Yaku frowned and glanced past his fading mist back at the Yamanaka. His accomplice was in the process of completing a jutsu and Yaku rose to full height. It seemed that the Genjutsu had failed and Yaku danced with the idea of resorting to taijutsu. The blade was much more efficient. Unreasoning, quick, and no tricks. Yaku gripped the handle, monitored the chakra source close to him and smiled lightly. The middle figure was the most dangerous and he kept a close eye on the mans chakra.

"We will see about that..." Yaku's cold voice answered back. It was a single warning for what to come and the S-rank Missing nin entered the field. It took only a single second and his body appeared. He would run straight across the road with his sword held out, aiming to cleave the closest opponent to himself in half. A glint of the blade flashed and he would be gone. His sword would arc, accidently cutting through a tree before retracting and safely coming to a stop near Renjiro.

Ech... a few more notches to the left would have been better

Behind him in the middle of the road, a single note was left near the middle figure. Shinbou had dropped it in his dash (if successful) and as Yaku came to a stop, his hands closed together to form the seal. The explosive tag detonated.

Michi Uchitoru [Road Kill]
C-Rank Taijutsu
Utilizing his weapon adjacent to his movement, he will flip it sideways so that its reach is at its best. Utilizing his speed quickly, he will attack an enemy head on. As his body reaches 80 miles an hour, his body will force his unmoving weapon into the opponent. With his body strength and fast speed, he can shatter most obstacles with his weapon and tear them apart like the force of a freight train or industrial engine.

The group continued to move in perfect synchronization as the leader listened for a response. Unfortunately, none were provided. However, an attack was made, and the man composing of the Northern corner was over-taken by a jutsu. He was small in frame, and had a bow on his back, which he immediately pulled out to be loaded.

The man in the center cocked a brow, and lifted a hand towards the man, "Sleep.", to which the man immediately fell to the ground, asleep. The man to the sound spoke, "Attac-", but was cut off by Yaku speeding through the arena. He was cut in half and the hypnotist looked wide-eyed. He did a series of hand seals, and spoke, "Good bye", before, he, and his remaining two comrades faded into nothing.

The larger man, standing to the west, did a series of hand seals when prompted by a hand wave of the now "invisible" leader. The trio dropped into the ground, and would reappear 15 meters to the east, silently sneaking off in an attempt to escape.

Renjiro caught a bit of a break, it would seem. His stolen puppet was put to rest, but the enemy had made a fairly grave error in utilizing invisibility and an underground escape method against a pair of sensors.

Tracking the chakra signatures, Renji began moving on a parallel course (outpacing them, probably, since underground transit tended to be slower than the unfettered version). When they stopped to come up, he flung a kunai to bury itself in the ground more or less where they were appearing, then began a series of hand seals that would have been familiar had anyone seen them the first time around.

He spat another chakra empowered needle, aiming it at the ground in their very midst as they emerged from the earth. When it struck, an explosive sphere more than fifteen feet across would blossom, and almost simultaneously, he activated his tagged kunai as well for good measure.

[Yaku Fushinkou]

Yaku was much slower. His cloak was unmoving and he made no move to follow his accomplice. He was patient and the situation was inconsequential. As much as he denied it, he had faith in Renjiro.

The black cloak glided gracefully onto the road in spite of the situation. The chase was trivial to him and he stood quietly before the malformed body. It was cleaved in two and the last moments of the mans life slowly escaped his eyes. These seconds were precious to him and Yaku lived every second of it.

A pity...

Next to the corpse was an ironic picture. A sleeping man. His face was calm and peaceful. A stark contrast to the death of his former comrade. It was a disturbing sight, but Yaku took amusement in this. The body was in good condition. It was healthy and alive. Renjiro would be pleased.

"Sleep well." Yaku murmured to himself as Shinbou slowly crept out of the sleeve of his cloak. Its narrowed slits were concentrated on the corpse and its tongue flicked in hunger. Yaku could only shake his head and frown. His index finger gently redirected its attention to the whole and living one.

"Don't let it move." He ordered bluntly as it completely unraveled itself from his body. Its tail kicked at the air angrily, but it knew better to question Yaku's commands. The Sages edict was law. The missing nin turned on his heels and began to leave. "You can feast on the dead after I'm back," he called on second thought to its delight.

With a final look, he left and gracefully departed towards the direction of Renjiro.

As the trio of men rose from the ground, they found themselves to be impaled in the head by kunai, that'd certainly be an unfortunate way to die. No sound left their mouths as they surfaced the ground, then fell flat on their back. Before Renjiro or Yaku would be able to respond, however, a fuuin on the leaders chest began to glow, and his body rapidly turned to dust, flying into the sky and disappearing. His 4 followers bodies would be there for Renjiro to take, but his was now untouchable.

They had succeeded with relative ease.
