D-ranked Taijutsu
As a simple course of mastering their weapon, the user is able to move effortlessly between attacking and defensive techniques, shoring up weak spots in between the two and saving energy.
(First round)

”Nghh…”

Get out of bed you bum. It’s past Noon and you haven’t done an ounce of training in the past three days.

”Go away.”

I will not. You’re about to become the leader of an entire village, Tousha. If your plan is to sleep in until noon every day and watch game shows until you get fat and sloppy then you’re sorely mistaken. Get. Up.

Tousha threw the covers from his body and twisted his body until his legs were hanging off the side of his bed. His spine cracked and popped as he rose to a sitting position. He sighed and stretched his arms over his head, which caused even more of his joints to crack loudly.

”You’re going to be the death of me Twilight. Old men shouldn’t be forced out of bed so soon. I’ll be dead by the end of the month at this rate.”

Twilight appeared in the shinobi’s room, taking on the appearance of a young woman clad in pitch white armor. You don’t know the meaning of the word old. After a century or two you can complain, but until then I don’t want to hear it.

Tousha got to his feet and reached his bathroom with three quick strides. He began his usual morning routine, which included brushing his teeth, using the toilet, combing his hair, and shaving. After this he did several push ups and sit ups, to keep his body loose and strong for the long day of training ahead. Lastly he threw on his clothes and grabbed his weapons.

Before he walked out of his room, something caught his eye. On the wall opposite to his bed hung a tattered looking sash. His father’s sash. Or should he say, his great-great grandfather’s sash that had been passed down through the Umezawa family for generations. The sight of it still made Tousha flinch, knowing that it was the last thing he had to remember his father by, besides the scars that riddled his body of course. Those would always be constant reminders of his childhood and the secrets his father had taught him throughout his youth.

Tousha tore the fabric from the wall and wrapped it around his waist. He wasn’t surprised to see that the sash fit perfectly around his belt. He nodded his head and strode out of the room.

A few minutes later Tousha found himself, as he always did before training, running his finger down a rather large scroll. He wanted to begin his training with some light exercise. So he had hefted the massive Taijutsu scroll from his shed and had been trying to find a suitable technique ever since. Finally when he found one that he liked he realized that it would be a very simple technique to learn, considering he already had years of experience with hand to hand combat.

That one seems easy enough. Twilight muttered, it’s voice suddenly becoming very deep. Before Tousha could even turn around, Twilight’s male form had unsheathed its sword and bolted headlong towards him.

”Piss!” Tousha blurted out, drawing his katana and jitte in a flash, barely managing to parry Twilight’s incoming overhand swing. Twilight’s sword dug into the earth and then ripped through it as the kami pressed forward with incredible strength. Dirt and steel rose to meet Tousha, who had been pushed back by the initial attack. With a burst of speed Tousha seemed to disappear from sight, appearing once more behind the kami with his katana raised and ready t stab forward.

Twilight twirled its blade around its body, meeting Tousha’s own blade just inches from the kami’s face. Sparks jumped to life around the two combatants as they continued their intricate dance. Their limbs began to blur with lethal speed as the fight escalated, it seemed that neither of the warriors could gain advantage over the other, that is, until Tousha managed to catch Twilight’s curved sword in the metal prong of his offhand weapon.

With a twist of his wrist, Tousha jerked the kami’s sword out of its hand, and brought the razor sharp edge of his katana to its neck.

Very impressive. Twilight said simply, backing away from Tousha and retrieving his sword. With a flurry the kami smoothly sheathed the weapon into the pitch white scabbard at his hip.

Tousha also spun his weapons expertly in his hands before sheathing them under his belt.

”Pretty good for a lazy bum, huh?” Tousha replied, a wry grin on his face.

Prerequisite- Taijutsu stat of 4 or higher. Straight swords, staffs, fans and chain weapons
By whirling his/her weapon in concentrated, circular patterns around their self, the user of this jutsu is able to deflect a wide range of physical attacks, covering anything from projectiles to lower level elemental jutsu (All D-rank and one C-rank).
(Round 2)

Yes, good for a lazy bum. Good for the Hokage? I beg to differ.

Tousha scoffed and started walking back towards the massive scroll still half unrolled on the ground. "I'd like to see a bum fend off an ancient kami wielding a particularly sharp weapon. If you found me one that could then I'll promote him to jounin status, no questions asked."

Twilight folded its arms and glared at Tousha as he continued searching for yet another taijutsu technique to master. Or at least a taijutsu technique to screw up too badly at.

"Here we go. I'm going to need to learn a few defensive taijutsu techniques if I want to fend off would-be assassins and whatnot. You think you could go get some kunai from the house and throw them at me?"

Twilight had already turned around and had even taken a few strides towards his cabin.

"I'll take that as a yes, then."

A few minutes later Twilight held several shuriken, senbon, and kunai alike in its hands. Tousha, who was beginning to regret this decision, was standing about twenty paces away, his hand gripped tight around the handle of his katana.

"Could you please keep your aim clear of the area below the belt? I would like to have some offspring some day so I'd appreciate it if you didn't "slip up"'

Twilight raised both hands into the air, ready to throw. No promises. The kami said flatly before hurling two kunai and a shuriken at Tousha.

Tousha had to stop himself from ducking out of the way, which was his first and natural instinct. "Why block when you can run?" is basically his motto, but he knew that there wouldn't always be an option. So, he held his ground and watched as the projectiles grew closer and closer.

With a few quick turns of the wrist Tousha spun the katana in his hands in front of his body. The katana's blade batted the two kunai away, sending them flying off into the air on either side of him, He then brought the katana around a second time, cleanly slicing into the shuriken, causing the projectile to stick to latch to his sword. With another flick of the wrist Tousha slashed the sword diagonally, sending the shuriken flying. It embedded itself into a tree about fifteen feet away.

"Again, if you'd be so kind." Tousha said with a serious face, raising the katana once more.

Oh, it would be my pleasure.

By the fifth volley Tousha could practically feel his reflexes sharpening like that of his katana's blade. He couldn't explain the reason for this, however. It felt like he had just woken up after ten years of non-stop training. But it wasn't just his reflexes, every one of his senses seemed to have enhanced over night. Tousha soon realized that if he actually concentrated hard enough the movements of objects slightly slowed through his eyes. His own movements, though, were getting progressively faster by the minute. Knocking the shuriken from the air with his katana seemed too easy, as if he had been trained for years in the art of hitting stuff out of the air with a sword.

This feeling, he couldn't describe it. It felt good, and empowering, but besides that he was at a loss for words. By the sixth volley he had finally found a word that closely fit to what he was feeling.

Unstoppable.

"This is too easy..." Tousha muttered after the seventh volley of projectiles. He wasn't even working up a sweat, even after nearly ten minutes of constant deflecting. He quickly sheathed his katana and performed a single hand seal. Five kage bunshin appeared in a large circle around Tousha, completely surrounding him from all sides. Including Twilight, he now had six enemies to worry about.

"Bring it on." he said through clenched teeth, prepairing his body and mind for the task ahead. And bring it they did.

Each bunsin and Twilight alike whipped out shuriken, sendbon, and kunai. In less than a moment Tousha heard the faint whistle of the projectiles flying through the air. He took one last breath before they all reached him.

It was as if he was a puppet being controlled by another person, high above him. As if his katana was alive and was simply carrying his arms along for the ride. His arms practically buzzed as the katana flashed bright silver while it looped and spun around his body. It seemed to be everywhere at once, yet nowhere at all. Like a vengeful ghost.

The kunai, shuriken, and senbon didn't stand a chance against Tousha's deadly accurate speed. Everything that almost seemed to reach him was flung into a different direction as if it had been scared off. Tousha felt himself grinning as the last projectile projectile flew at him head on. He brought his katana down onto the kunai with all of his might. The small weapon shattered under his strength, causing the remaining fragments to burst outwards in all directions.

Tousha stood there, his katana still gripped in both hands, motionless. He wasn't even breathing, let alone breathing hard because of exhaustion.

"What.... what's going on." he muttered to himself weakly, still not moving. "I feel so powerful. But why?"

Twilight only stared at Tousha through its helmet, the kami's eyes were hard and unreadable.

I believe... Twilight said without much confidence, that your spark has begun to awaken.

Tousha jerked his head up and glared at Twilight, his eyebrows furrowed, "What?" he spat through clenched teeth, "You said this wouldn't happen for decades!"

Twilight brought its hand to its chin and continued, No, it hasn't activated , Tousha. No, your power has only slightly increased. As if the spark inside of you is leaking out some of its power and enhancing your body with it. That's the only thing I can think of.

Tousha slowly began to gain control of his senses after a few moments and several deep breaths. He quickly sheathed the katana into the sheath at his side, turned, and sat himself in front of the large taijutsu scroll once more.

"Well, let's put this extra energy to good use then." He quickly began looking for yet another jutsu to train for.

Name: Hekireki Chiso ken-sensu [Thunderous sonic blade style]
Rank: N/A
Description : A style developed by Tousha Umezawa. Based on the speed, expertise, and accuracy only a high ranking shinobi can possess, this particular style’s specialty is using incredibly high speed sword slashes to dispatch your opponent. The stance itself begins with the user’s sword still unsheathed, the dominant hand holding the sword’s hilt, the other hand grasping the end of the sheathe, and the left foot placed slightly ahead of the right.

As he continued searching through the taijutsu scroll in front of him he realized very quickly that many of the techniques explained dealt with hand to hand combat. In fact, the two sword-based techniques he had learned were about all there was in that particular catagory. Well, the only ones that were worthwhile anyway. So, ever determined, Tousha returned to the small shed beside his house, hauling the massive scroll on his shoulder as he walked.

He sat the scroll down with a grunt, the large roll of parchment slammed into the ground noisily, causing the book racks throughout the shead to creak and tremble. He then began running his hands along the books that littered the walls of the shack, trying to find anything that could teach him more about swordsmanship. He hadn't even gotten to the second rack when he felt the spine of a particularly heavy book slap against his forehead.

He grunted in both surprise and pain as the book landed on the ground, the cover facing Tousha. He looked down and picked it up, swiped the dust from the cover, and read the title.

"The Art of the Hekireki Chiso ken-sensu style."

"Hmm.... anything with a name that long should be decent at least." Tousha reasoned as he opened the book's leather binding to the first page. A few kanji littered the page, spelling the author's name as well as the date. Tousha nearly dropped the book in surprise.

This book was nearly a hundred and fifty years old. Yet it's condition was better than that of several more new books he owned. Not a page seemed to be out of place. Tousha nodded, turned the page, and began reading the miniature kanji that lined each page. He soon began to understand what he had found, something older than his great grandfather even. And something, it seemed, just as powerful.

Tousha marched out of the shed, the book still opened in his hands. He continued reading as he walked past Twilight, who turned and looked at him in confusion.

I've seen that glint in your eyes before, Tousha. What have you found this time?

"Something that very well may save my life someday. Or at the very least, something interesting to try out." Tousha replied, looking from the book to his sword over and over again as if trying to solve some great mystery.

"It's a book about swordsmanship." he added, "A book that dates back about one hundred and thirty years ago, I believe." Tousha unsheathed his sword and swung it through the air for no apparent reason. "Some old samurai must have made sure to write down his secret art before he passed on, you know, protect his legacy and all that. Why it is in my shed I have no clue, but I don't see the point in findiing out why. It's here now. That's all that matters."

Twilight crossed its arms and spoke flatly, In case you hadn't noticed, you aren't a samurai. I've seen samurai, and you sir are not one of them.

Tousha sat the book gently on the ground and sheathed his katana at his side before spinning around and grinning at Twilight, "I'm well aware. But, that doesn't mean I can't make a few adjustments to some of these techniques."

Twilight sighed and muttered something Tousha didn't quite catch, but he thought that he heard the word "ignorant" and "rash" used more than once. So with that conversation over, Tousha went to work.

It appeared that the stance of the Hekireki style was simple enough. Tousha placed his right hand around the grip of his katana, his left on the very end of the sheath, and then slid his left foot across the ground until it was slightly ahead of his right. He held this position for a good thirty seconds, making slight adjustments to his body here and there until he found the perfect position. He repeated this process for the better part of half an hour before picking up the book once more.

Name: Raikou wake [Flash draw]
Rank: D-rank
Prerequisites: minimum of a 4 in speed
Description : One of the foundation techniques of the Hekireki Chiso ken-sensu style, and is required in order to truly master it. The user of this technique will first fall into the Hekireki’s initial stance, and then unsheathe their sword and slash forward in one smooth motion. If done correctly, this technique is nearly invisible to the human eye due to its speed.
"Huh." Tousha said in surprise as he turned the page once more, "There are even pictures. Whoever this dude was, if he could fight half as well as he could paint, I'd follow him to the pits of hell."

He wasn't exaggerating much, if at all. The pictures were vivid and incredibly useful. With these the process of mastering this sword style would be considerably easier.

"It says here that the first step to learning this style is to master the art of unsheathing your sword at an incredible speed. This way, you can dispatch opponents before they can react." Tousha set the book down once more and said, "Sounds like a plan."

With that Tousha shifted his weight, falling into the Hekireki's initial stance. Once comfortable and well balanced, Tousha whipped out his katana from the sheathe at his hip. His blade flashed in the bright sun, the silver metal glinting sunlight radiantly as it slashed through the air. But from what Tousha could tell, he had hardly drawn it fast enough for the requirements of the technique.

It said that his movements should be nearly invisible to the average human eye. Tousha knew he was quick with a blade, but he would need to become much quicker if he were to have any hopes of proceeding any further.

But this realization hardly put a damper on his mood, it had quite an opposite effect. It made him more determined and focused than ever, which is how he always felt after running across something he couldn't accomplish. So he pushed all thoughts of doubt out of his mind and breathed in deeply, fingering the grip of his katana as he focused all of his strength into his right arm.

"Gyaaa!" he grunted as the blade flew from it's sheathe, easily slashing through the air at nearly twice the speed as before. Unfortunately Tousha was too excited about his successful strike that he forgot to grip the katana's handle firmly. Which was sort of an important part of not getting yourself killed in battle.

To Tousha's dismay the katana sung as it was flung from his hands and high into the air. He watched hopelessly as the blade spun, glinted sunlight into Tousha's eyes painfully, and then splashed into the lake.

Twilight sighed and shook his head, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"I meant to do that... I call it the um... spinning... heavenly, erm, blade destroyer."

Just go retrieve your weapon.

Tousha already had his flack jacket and undershirt removed as he made his way towards the lake. "My technique needs perfecting though. The blade is supposed to fly a far greater distance than that."

Just shut up, you dolt.

Several minutes, a painful crawfish wound, and a retrieved katana later Tousha was back on his feet and ready for action.

"Alright." he said to himself, slipping his clothes back on near the lake's shore, "Let's try that again."

And try he did. For what seemed like hours the ninja repeated the same process over and over again. Sheathe, bend at the knees, unsheathe, slash, repeat. To his immense pleasure Tousha did not have to repeat his underwater adventure throughout the rest of his quest to master this technique.

Just under fourty five minutes of the mindless training later, Tousha felt confident in his ability to draw a sword. Now he just needed someone to test it on. With an innocent expression he turned to Twilight and said, "Hey, you know how I very, very rarely ask you for help?"

That's funny, because I seem to recall saving your life on several occasions, fighting kami and shinobi alike by your side, and having to wake your lazy arse up on a daily basis.

"I mean besides that."

Twilight sighed and stepped forward, realizing the argument was pointless. What do you require, your lordship? the kami muttered, the words practically dripping with resentment.

"I need you to stand in front of me and try to dodge my attack."

Twilight drew its blade and readied itself, the curved weapon held tightly in its armored hands. Tousha fell into the Hekireki's initial stance for what seemed to be the thousandth time.

"Alright, here I..." But Tousha never finished the statment. Without warning the Hokage drew his blade from its sheathe, fast as lightning is cast from the clouds above. Twilight found himself waiting for the blow to present itself, but all the kami saw was Tousha standing perfectly still at one point and the next, holding the katana parallel to the ground.

A small sliver of the kami's pitch white armor fell to the ground and clattered against Twilight's boot. The kami looked down at the fragment with an emotionless face.

I believe that you have mastered the art of drawing a blade so quickly your enemy is unaware of you doing so.

Tousha sheathed his blade and patted the kami on the shoulder, "Ya think?"

Name: Kushi no youchi [Spitting earth]
Rank: C-rank
Prerequisite: Strength of at least 4, control of at least 3, Taijutsu of at least 3
Description: One of the Hekireki stance’s most destructive techniques. First the user will raise their weapon high above their hands with either one or two hands gripped firmly around the weapon’s grip. He or she will then slam their weapon into the ground with all of their strength, kicking up shards of sharp rock, dust, and other forms of debris that will engulf and strike any nearby enemy standing in front of the user. This attack even has the power to knock opponents from their feet and can even be used to ward off incoming attacks (D-rank techniques and small projectile weapons). However, the method of performing this attack is not set in stone (play on words). Meaning that the user is not limited to the over-the-head method, it is simply the most basic and easy to learn.
"Alright! Now this is what I'm talking about." Tousha said, grinning from ear to ear. Twilight casually stepped behind Tousha and peered over his shoulder.

So the idea is to hit the ground really really hard. Very well thought out.

Tousha closed the book and frowned at the kami. "Hey, look on the bright side. At least the ground is a very hard thing to miss."

Twilight shrugged, seeing what little logic there was in Tousha's reasoning. It just sounds very crude and barbaric.

Tousha unsheathed his sword with a flourish, spinning the sword's razor sharp blade expertly through the air around him. "Whatever works, right?" With that thought in mind, Tousha raised the sword high above his hand and flooded his arms with chakra. With a roar he brought the weapon down onto the ground, striking the earth with all of his strength.

To Tousha's surprise his sword had little effect on the dirt beneath his vicious downward stroke. Sure he had cut cleanly through nearly a foot of solid earth, but as far as he could tell none of it had been flung from the ground in any direction at all.

"Dammit... this could be more complicated than I thought. Same old same old, I guess."

Whatever works, right? Twilight muttered mockingly.

Tousha ignored the kami's words. He was going to make it eat them by the end of the hour, this he was certain of.

"Hyaah!" the kage shouted, landing yet another blow that tore through the earth below him. Again and again he slashed, the merciless edge of his blade wreaking havoc on the innocent ground below him.

Within fifteen minutes his front lawn looked like some sort of farming vehicle had run rampant through his property. But Tousha didn't care. He wouldn't be caught dead giving in to some low rank jutsu just because he was having a wee bit of trouble.

"GOD FREAKING DAMMIT!!" he screamed in fury, bringing the katana down once more. The same result occured as the past hundred swings, to his dismay. "Why am I not getting this? This should be so simple..."

Have you considered releasing the built up chakra in your blade on impact? That would allow you to propel the rock fragments you break loose into any direction you wanted.

"I know!" Tousha exclaimed, raising a finger to the sky and spinning around to look at Twilight. "I'll just release my chakra on impact. that way I'll be able to control the rock fragments that are broken loose from the ground!" The shinobi spun back around on his heels and gripped the katana with both hands. "I am so smart sometimes it's scary."

It's scary all right... Twilight said, not trying in the least to hide the sarcasm behind its words.

"One more time then!" Tousha said, raising the katana high above his head for hopefully the last time. "Gyaaah!" he screamed as he brought the katana down once more. This time, instead of using the built up chakra in his arms and legs to slash through the earth, Tousha unleashed the energy. This caused the earth below the point of impact to crack and fracture, sending several dozen eyeball sized rocks to pop up from the ground.

"Ha!" Tousha yelled as he propelled the debris forward using what was left of the chakra used to break the dirt below him. As if hurled by a rather large armed pitcher at the prime of his career, the rocks flew forwards and smashed against the bark of a nearby tree. To Tousha's great pleasure, he watched as the rocks ripped first the bark from the tree, and then smashed the rest of it to splinters.

Tousha repeated the process three times over before he felt completely confident in his ability to smack the ground, break up the earth, and send the chunks of earth flying in whatever direction he pleased. Three more trees were irraticated by the time that Tousha decided to move on.

Name: Shizuku no Hekireki-Dageki [Falling thunder strike]
Rank: B-rank
Prerequisites: A minimum speed of 5, minimum strength of 5, Raiku Dageki
Description: The user will first fall into the Hekireki’s initial stance, and then burst forward with incredible speed. He or she will appear directly under their opponent less than a moment later, sword already half drawn. The user will then unsheathe their sword completely, attempting to ram the end of the handle into their opponent’s jaw. This will knock their opponent from their feet and will send them flying upwards. The user will then leap into the air, directly above their target, shift their body weight so they are falling head first, and then slash with their weapon, aiming directly for the target’s head/neck area.
Congratulations. Twilight said in an incredibly flat tone as the ruined tree toppled over loudly. You have successfully brought down a vicious elm tree.

”Damn straight I did!” Tousha replied with gusto, acting as if he hadn’t caught Twilight’s irony soaked statement. ”Let all of Konoha know that their fearless leader will be able to fight off any sap-ridden invasion without fail!”

Twilight sighed, knowing that he had been beaten in a contest of ignorance. A competition he wasn’t disappointed in losing at.

”Alright, let’s try something a little more tricky.” Tousha said, picking up the book once more and flipping through it. He just skimmed the pages, checking difficulty, requirements, and most of all the pictures, which were by far the most intricate directions of all. After a good solid four minutes Tousha finally found a rather interesting looking picture. This painting included a very fearsome warrior smashing his opponent into the air with the end of his katana, jumping into the air, and promptly decapitating his adversary with a bold and flashy falling slash.

”Flashy, bold… decapitation!” Tousha grinned from ear to ear and tapped the picture with his forefinger, ”Now they’re speaking my language!”

Since Tousha didn’t have any willing “test subjects” he was going to have to make due with what he had. And he only had Twilight, and his kage bunshins. He looked over at Twilight, who looked back with a glare that chilled the blood in his veins and almost brought about the need of an underpants change.

First off Tousha needed to get the basic idea down, which meant walking through the motions step by step. And there wasn't a better place to start than the beginning. He started off by falling into the initial stance of the Hekireki style by placing his left foot ahead of his right, bending at the knees, and gripping the handle of the katana at his side firmly. He easily recalled the first step to the in depth technique which was quickly drawing your blade and ramming the handle of said weapon into your opponent's jaw. This all seemed simple enough in theory, but when he began to think about it Tousha realized the amount of force he would need to hit someone so hard that it made them lift from the ground.

With this in mind Tousha tried to decide which would be the best way to unsheathe his sword; like normal or gripping the blade in a backwards manner. If he held it reverse style then he may be able to hit the target harder, which, in turn, would give him a better chance to knock them off their feet. To test his theory he made his way towards a large-ish boulder near the lake's shore. He inspected the rock by tapping it uselessly with his index finger. It was most definitely a rock.

Tousha placed himself about six strides from his newfound target and gripped the handle of the katana at his side firmly. In a flash of speed Tousha sprinted forward, drawing his sword with a reverse grip. He found, however, that it was very difficult to draw a blade that was on the left side of your hip with your right hand while holding it in reverse. He also quickly realized that this was not the best way to unsheathe your weapon because it throws off your balance like a one legged flamingo with an inner ear infection. The slippery dirt under his feet didn't help things either. All of these factors played a large roll in Tousha ultimately looking like a total dork.

Because his balance was suddenly thrown off and mostly because his right foot slipped out from under him, Tousha went down and he went down hard. With a yelp the great Hokage of the hidden leaf village lurched to his left side while he was drawing the blade at his hip. His right foot slipped out from under him, his knee buckled, and he fell face first onto the right side of his face. The blade in his hands, after nearly cutting his ear off, was hurled straight up into the air. Tousha's momentum carried him about three feet through the mud before he skidded to a stop about two strides from the lake's cool clear water, which he was grateful for because he didn't feel like taking a dip. In fact he felt like kicking himself in the butt several times for even thinking about drawing his sword in a reverse style. And THEN he remembered that the katana that had presently been in his hand was flipping through the air without him on the other end of it.

He spun around just in time to see his sword falling directly over him. With another yelp Tousha kicked and pushed off of the ground and rolled to his right, narrowly avoiding the blade as it stuck about ten inches into the muddy ground. Tousha lay on the ground, panting, the right side of his face and torso covered in mud, but he was still grinning for a reason he was unsure of himself considering he had almost just killed himself. For his next attempt Tousha drew his blade like he normally did, which allowed him to run normally, which allowed him to slam the guard of his sword into the rock just like he had planned. He only needed to attempt this three more times before switching his training strategy. Now he needed some live targets.

Tousha decided to beat himself up. Kind of. Forming a single hand seal Tousha created a single kage bunshin about eight strides away. It’s face turned from indifferent to aghast in about two milliseconds after realizing what Tousha had in store for it.”Wait, can’t we talk abo…” It was about that time when Tousha appeared below the clone, already unsheathing the katana at his hip. The end of the sword smashed into the clone’s jaw, causing its head to snap backwards with a sickening crunch. Unfortunately, instead of lifting off of the ground, the kage bunshin’s eyes rolled upwards, his mouth fell open, and he simply fell backwards like an exceptionally limp rag doll. The clone poofed away into a cloud of white smoke just as Tousha sheathed the sword’s razor sharp blade once more.

”Damn. Not nearly hard enough. Sure I have enough speed, but all of the speed in the world isn’t going to help me launch anyone into the air.”

No rest for the weary

”NOT AGAIN!!” The bunshin moaned in dismay, not even getting the opportunity to dodge Tousha’s incoming attack. The katana’s guard slammed into the clone’s jaw just as before, snapped its head back just as before, and yet again failed to lift it more than a couple inches from the ground.

”Crap…. Four clones and still nothing. Well, nothing but four dead clones. But that isn’t really helpful.” Tousha muttered to himself as he formed a single hand seal and created yet another kage bunshin.

”Wait, what did you just say?” it said, twisting its head around, wide eyes trying to figure out why he was there in the first place.

”Oh…. Nothing…. LOOK A DISTRACTION!” Tousha yelled, pointing past the bunshin’s shoulder. Unfortunately for the clone, he looked, which resulted in Tousha’s katana slamming into his chin.

This time, because the target wasn’t suspecting the blow, he was able to lob the bunshin a good five feet into the air.

”That’s the key.” Tousha thought to himself as he jumped over his target, completely unsheathing his sword from the sheathe at his side. He brought the weapon down on the clone’s neck, completely severing its head from its body. Tousha and the clone hit the ground simultaneously, or better yet, both parts of the clone. It poofed away just as the others had.

Tousha sheathed his sword and stretched his tired arms. He’d been training all day and he could already feel the stiffness of his muscles. But he couldn’t give up. Well, not until he learned this jutsu. Then he could give up. Just a little though.

”Alright, so I’ve got the technique down. I have the speed, the strength, and the looks to successfully accomplish the attack. I just need to time my strike more accurately. Catch my enemy off guard. That’s when I’ll do the most damage.”

With that realization in mind Tousha continued his onslaught of attacks on the unsuspecting clones that appeared in front of him. Each time he slammed the katana’s hilt into the chin of his adversary he was rewarded by the clone’s feet lifting off of the air, screaming in surprise and pain, and then falling to the ground a few strides away. Tousha forwent the second phase of the technique, feeling very confident in his ability to jump in the air and slash downward at a knocked silly target whilst falling.

Even though Tousha’s right armed burned from the constant effort of knocking his opponent off his feet with sheer force alone the Hokage continued repeating the same process over and over. Make a clone, distract clone, hit clone, let clone fall to the ground, sheathe sword, and repeat. Tousha’s movements became almost mechanical as the day dragged on. He had turned the thinking process part of his brain off thirty minutes ago, thinking would simply get in the way of the task at hand.

He had to keep reminding himself that he was learning these techniques in the hopes of ending the lives of several opponents as quickly as possible. Love it or hate it, you couldn’t do much else with a sword, especially with a sword wielded by a user of the Hekireki fighting style.

”Gwaaah!” the clone shrieked as he was tossed into the air like a rag doll. Tousha pushed off of the ground and disappeared from sight, reappearing just above the airborne clone. The Hokage drew his blade in the blink of an eye and decapitated the clone’s head from its shoulders. The clone didn’t even hit the ground before bursting into a cloud of white smoke.

Tousha flipped once through the air, fell through the smoke, and landed in a crouched position, his sword held parallel to the ground.

You are so lame… Twilight muttered, sensing that Tousha was trying his best to look smooth.

Name: Kireme dageki [Shattering strike]
Rank: C-rank
Prerequisites: A minimum strength stat of 6, minimum taijutsu stat of 4
description: A very straight forward technique designed to break through defenses and break weapons. The user will first flood their weapon and arms with chakra, increasing the resilience and overall strength of the user’s swing. He or she will then slash forward with all of their strength. This technique has been known to shatter through higher ranked defenses (B-rank) and can even break weapons made of steel.
Tousha collapsed onto the ground after Twilight’s snarky comment. His chest heaved up and down as he gulped in oxygen as quickly as possible. After a few moments Tousha managed to catch his breath, or at least catch enough of it to breathe a little more normally. Shakily, but surely, Tousha sheathed the katana at his side and managed to get to his feet.

Each step seemed like an ordeal for the weary shinobi as he made his way towards the very welcoming embrace of a shadow cast by a nearby tree. After reaching the sanctuary Tousha tipped over, landed bodily onto his back, and sighed deeply.

”I haven’t trained my Taijutsu skills like this in quite a while.” he said to no one in particular with a crooked grin on his face. ”I forgot how much more draining it is. Well, for me anyway. But I guess practice makes perfect.”

Twilight responded by rather rudely tossing the ancient book that had previously been lounging on the ground into his face. The book opened to a random page as it slapped against his forehead, causing Tousha to sit up quickly and glare angrily towards Twilight’s general direction.

”You son of a bitch! Can’t you see I’m resting here?” the Hokage said angrily, grabbing a hold of the book, half tempted to hurl it back at the kami out of spite.

They say that there is no rest for the weary. Get up Tousha, your work isn’t done yet.

With a grunt Tousha got to his feet, hefting the ancient book in his hands and already flipping through the worn pages. ”I don’t think I’ve ever been completely done with anything, Twilight. And I fear I never shall.”

After a few minutes of searching Tousha found a relatively simple jutsu to attempt. Considering what he had just put himself through, this should be a walk in the park. But looks could be deceiving, and parks could actually be ambush-infested pits of hell on earth.

The idea seemed simple enough, in fact, it was a lot like the Spitting Earth technique he had learned only a few hours ago. Minus the spitting and the earth, which Tousha wasn’t really complaining about anyway. The description explained that it was a very useful attack for breaking through defenses. That was all fine and dandy, but Tousha also realized several different situations it could be useful for. Not much appealed to Tousha Umezawa more than a technique that had several possibilities.

”So I just grip the handle like this… no…. like this… wait, no. Dammit. Here we go.” Tousha muttered to himself, trying to copy how the samurai’s painted hands were clasping the handle of his katana. Once he felt comfortable holding the weapon he drew his arms back behind his body, concentrating small but explosive amounts of chakra into each of his limbs.

With a mighty roar Tousha swung his weapon forward. With nothing in front of the blade but air to stop the path of the swing the attack seemed highly useless. But, having seen countless sword strikes in battle, Tousha knew how destructive that swing would have been if some unfortunate soul had been standing in his path. But when one lacked unfortunate souls, one made due with trees and bunshins, in which case the Hokage was in large supply of either.

Since he had spent a good majority of his time creating clone after clone after clone, Tousha decided on a good, solid looking tree as an opponent. He gripped the handle of his katana firmly, feeling the fibers under his fingers twisting and straining under his strength. The tree, which obviously had nerves of steel, simply sat there, motionless, almost mocking Tousha and his attempts at destroying it.

Tousha really needed to stop thinking of trees as his mortal enemies, it couldn’t be good for his health. Or his sanity for that matter.

With an entirely unnecessary war cry Tousha brought his weapon down on his opponent. His chakra induced swing tore through the tree’s outer bark and inner core like a warm knife through butter. It took less than a split second for the blade to pass through the rather large-ish tree. Tousha was even surprised by his own strength for a moment or two until he remembered how much he had progressed in such a short amount of time.

With an ear shattering crack the tree toppled over, slammed into another, much smaller tree (which broke under the weight and force of the first tree like a tooth pick), and then crashed to the ground.

Not being satisfied after using his new found technique on a defenseless tree, Tousha created two kage bunshin to practice on. He informed them of his intentions, which caused them both to sigh and draw their blades. Tousha drew his weapon as well and fell into the initial stance of the Hekireki style.

The two kage bunshins slowly circled the Hokage, keeping a safe distance from the edge of his blade and swaying their weapons from side to side defensively. Tousha tried to find an opening in their defenses but failed, but then again, he was technically fighting two kage level bunshin. If they made such a simple error as leaving their body exposed Tousha would question not only their skills but his own as well.

After several moments of silent shuffling and dramatic glaring Tousha made his move. With incredible speed Tousha drew the blade at his side, causing his entire right arm to seemingly disappear to the naked human eye. Tousha's blade clashed brutally against the nearest bunshin's own katana, causing a shower of sparks to leap into the air. The impact caused both combatants to recoil slightly, but it was the real Tousha who recovered the most quickly. The Hokage spun around on his heels, spreading his legs wide as he did, and drew the jitte wedged between his belt with his off hand. He plunged the sharp tip of the defensive weapon into the bunshin's exposed right side. The clone's face went slack just before Tousha spun it around in front of himself just as the second clone's katana sliced vertically down through the air towards Tousha.

The second bunshin's blade hacked into its already doomed comrade, splitting its head open and lodging the blade deep into its chest. The injured clone disappeared into a cloud of white smoke just as Tousha brought his weapon above his head, already charged with chakra. The Hokage roared as he brought the weapon down through the white haze that was his kage bunshin, aiming the lethal blow directly at the remaining clone's right shoulder.

The kage bunshin raised his weapon in an attempt to block the incoming blow, but it was clearly not prepared for the strength of Tousha's swing. The chakra augmented katana impacted against the clone's blade, an ear shattering clashing noise rang throughout the forest around them as the two weapons met. The bunshin's katana trembled under the force of Tousha's blade as if it was shivering from the cold. And, unfortunately for the remaining clone, the pressure was simply too much for the katana to handle. It shattered under Tousha's strike like glass shattering against concrete. The bunshin had just enough time to yelp in surprise as Tousha's katana sliced cleanly through its body, entering at the right shoulder and exiting just above the left side of the clone's pelvis. The two halves of the clone fell to the ground lifelessly and disappeared into a cloud of white smoke.

Name: Hekireki Dageki: Mittsu-no shintou [Thunderous Strike: Three point impact]
Rank: B-rank
Prerequisites: minimum speed of 6, minimum control of 5, minimum taijutsu of 6
Description: First the user will fall into the initial stance of the Hekireki style, placing his or her left foot slightly ahead, bending at the knees, and gripping the handle of their weapon firmly. Then, using the weight of their sword to propel them forward at an incredible speed, the user of this technique will draw their weapon as they are approaching their target. He or she will then strike three separate areas of the opponent's body (this is not limited to three specific areas, so the user may attempt to strike at any three points each time they use this technique. This is taught to prevent the target reading the user's movements). The three strikes are performed with such speed that they all land at the same time, making this technique both deadly and incredibly hard to predict/block.
Feeling confident in his ability to swing his sword really, really hard Tousha once again opened the ancient leather bound book for guidance. It didn't take him long to find the next technique he wanted to try out. The technique itself seemed very dangerous in itself, not only to everyone in the general vicinity but to himself as well. But, if he could pull it off, he would ruin his targets day for sure. This idea alone was so appealing to Tousha that he decided to learn the jutsu before taking a quick lunch break.

The attack required precision control, speed, and technique. The idea of striking three points simultaneously was ludicrous, but, unless the old samurai bastard just made up this tech to screw with someone's mind, it was possible to pull off. Tousha studied both the detailed descriptions and the intricate paintings that depicted a man running forward, drawing his blade, and stabbing with such speed that three separate blades impaled his target all at once. Ok, so maybe the picture wasn't that useful but the craftsmanship was still awesome.

Tousha decided to conserve his chakra and carry over a few wooden combat dummies from his training grounds behind the house. This way he could re use his target several times instead of killing a bunshin and then being forced to create another. The thought of asking Twilight to help had crossed his mind, but he quickly and violently pushed the thought away. He couldn't imagine the kami's rage if he had asked it to fill in the roll of a lowly training dummy, it was bad enough to ask it to be his training partner.

The Hokage set one of the training dummies about fifteen feet from his starting point, a good distance to build up speed for his attack. To start with Tousha walked through the steps he would take just before unsheathing his katana. These first few steps would either make or break this technique and he knew it, because without the proper amount of speed there would be no way to effectively swing his sword fast enough to strike three separate points on the targets body. So he continued this process for about five minutes, carefully placing his feet in the right position to gain the most amount of speed in the shortest time.

"Alright..." Tousha said as he fell into the initial stance of the Hekireki style, "Here goes nothing."

Tousha used the weight of his sword to push his momentum forward and simultaneously pushed off of the ground with his left foot, which was slightly ahead of his right.

"one... two... three..." Tousha counted off his steps as he continued running forward. Just after the fifth step he would draw his blade and hold it so that it was trailing behind him as he ran. Now the training dummy was only about eight feet away, room for roughly three more steps. At this rate he knew he wasn't traveling nearly fast enough to pull off the jutsu, but he could attempt to get two strikes in. Practice made perfect after all.

With a grunt the Hokage bent low to the ground as he came within striking distance. His arm whipped from side to side, stabbing forward with blurred speed at the training dummy's right and left side of its torso. The katana's point easily sank into the sparring dummy's outer exterior at both points of impact. And, from what Tousha could see, they hit at nearly the exact same time.

He knew that if this had been a real fight even his cheap imitation of the real technique would have screwed the target up pretty bad. It was at this moment that he realized what he was really dealing with, and how lucky he had been running across this book. With this style he could go toe to toe with even the most bad ass Taijutsu user.

He inspected the two puncture holes he had dealt to the sparring dummy with his previous attack. From what he could tell each would be wound was about four inches deep, more than deep enough for a fatal blow, considering he's seen people die from far less. Even if he hadn't been able to land all three blows on his first attempt, he had managed t mortally wound his target, which was usually seen as a plus.

After taking several steps away from the dummy Tousha fell into the initial Hekireki stance once more by sheathing his sword, placing his right hand firmly on the sword's handle, and sliding his left foot ahead of his right. He knew what had gone wrong last time, his footing had been slightly off which caused him to lose the smallest amount of momentum. But with a technique like this everything had to be flawless or he would most definitely fail.

His breath was short and shallow as he ran through the process in his head over and over again. His mind was entirely concentrated on the task at hand, if a rampaging elephant were to smash through the tree line and rip his humble home apart he wouldn't have notied. Nothing mattered but his legs, the sword at his side, and his target.

Without warning Tousha burst forward towards the sparring dummy, grunting with effort as he kicked off of the ground. "One... two...three..." he counted his steps just as before, knowing that his footwork made all the difference. This time he felt a rush of excitement because he knew that he had completed his first few strides flawlessly. This meant that, if he kept up the good work, he would have more than enough speed to perform the attack successfully.

As he neared the dummy Tousha whipped out his sword and shifted the weapon so that it wouldn't hinder his momentum or speed. Then, once he reached striking range, he lashed forward with lightning speed.

The sword bit deep into the dummy's torso, left shoulder, and right thigh simultaneously. Well, almost simultaneously, Tousha could tell he had struck his third blow a little too late, causing a slight pause between stabs. He grimmaced in frustration, knowing he had failed yet again. But, on the upside, he had hit the target three times, which was better than only hitting twice.

His first attempt had been by far the worst considering he had only struck the target two times instead of three. His second attempt had been far better. He had landed the necessary three blows but had timed his last attack badly, which caused a pause between his second and third blow. But even a little pause can get a man killed, especially if he hesitated for even a moment against someone strong enough to turn his mistakes back against him.

So, feeling confident that he could pull the jutsu off during his third attempt, Tousha fell back into the Hekireki stance and began taking deep breaths. Just like before Tousha ran through the strides he would be taking just before unsheathing his sword over and over in his head. His father used to say that combat wasn't won because of strength or speed or cunning, but through strategy. That a shinobi's mind was his sharpest and most useful weapon, if one learned how to handle it roperly that is. As a young man Tousha hadn't grasped the wisdom behind his father's words, but as a battle seasoned veteran, Tousha had began to think of these words as his own motto.

After taking one last breath Tousha burst forward, shifing his own weight and the weight of the sword at his hip to build momentum. His first three steps propelled him forward across the ground, narrowing the gap between the sparring dummy and himself in practically no time at all. It was just after the fifth step that Tousha unsheathed his blade, holding the weapon behind himself which prevented him from slowing down.

Once he was within striking range Tousha lashed forward with even more speed than his second attempt. The tip of the katana's razor sharp blade embedded itself into the tough outer exterior of the training dummy's hide. Not only did each strike land, but they landed simultaneously just as the jutsu described they should. Even Tousha, for a moment of two, could distinctly see three sword blades impaling the dummy's body.

He grinned with satisfaction as he tugged the katana from the would be dead target, sheathed the weapon with a flourish, and made his way towards the house in search of lunch.

Name: Dokuro heki [Skull splitter]
Rank: B-rank
Prerequisites: minimum strength of 4, minimum speed of 5, minimum Taijutsu of 5.
Description: The user of this technique will first dash towards his or her opponent, attempting to get within striking range. After doing so he or she will then use any method necessary to stun the target (bashing them with the handle of his or her katana, punching or kicking the target, or simply running into them). Once the target is stunned the user will then jump and flip over their opponent while slashing with his or her weapon(s), aiming either for the head or neck area which, if done correctly, usually delivers a fatal blow. This technique, used successfully or unsuccessfully, will end by the user landing in a crouched position behind the target, giving them the opportunity to strike once more if need be.
After a well deserved lunch, which consisted of several peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, his favorite potato chips, a fresh apple, and some hot tea, Tousha was ready to further his knowledge in the Hekireki style once more. He had saved time by looking through the book while he ate and watched "Who wants to be a Zenionaire?" He had discovered a few interesting thing, including the discovery that the Hekireki style was actually the hybrid of two seperate styles.

The first aspect of the Hekireki style is the "sonic blade." These were the types of attack he was learning at the moment. These techniques were designed to quickly finish unsespecting opponents with quick and lethal sword strokes. The second aspect, however, was entirely different. This aspect was named the "thunderous blade." This style also used lightning fast sword slashes, but for an entirely different purpose.

Instead of directly slashing at the target with their weapons the users of these techniques use chakra to release small but intense explosions. These explosions would then split the air apart around the blade, creating a temporary vacuum. But the real beauty was that the air that was displaced by the attack would be forcefully returned to the area, causing anyone or anything around it to be drawn to that specific area.

Several lightbulbs flicked on as Tousha began reading more and more about this aspect of the Hekireki style, ideas about how he could improve certain techniques or even create his own. The possabilities seemed endless. Not to mention the sheer usefulness of the techniques alone, the idea of learning them almost made Tousha's mouth water. But, as much as he wanted to dive into this new aspect of the Hekireki style, he decided to stay on course and learn a few more "sonic blade" techniques. So he picked a very interesting looking one that was sort of similar to the thunderous blade drop technique. Only this one was a tad more... flashy. And Tousha appreciated a nifty looking technique.

The Hokage stepped out of his humble home and stretched his already sore shoulders and biceps. Practicing your swordsmanship all day will do that to you, but at least it was a good kind of pain. The pain that lets you know you're getting stronger even though you feel like hell for now. Tousha thought about it for a second and came to the conclusion that they should have named it something other than "good pain." But he pushed the thought out of his mind, he had crap to do.

The idea of this new technique was very simple. Catch your opponent off guard and stun them, flip over them, and cut their head off. Cake, as far as jutsu went. Now the only question was who or what he should use as a practice companion. Twilight was once again removed from the picture immediately, kage bunshins would drain his chakra, so that left trees, rocks, and sparring dummies.

"Sparring dummy it is." Tousha muttered, making his way over to where he had been training only half an hour ago. The dummy he had practiced the three point strike on still stood near a large oak tree, the battle scars still clearly visible against the dummy's wooden exterior. This dummy would serve nicely for two reasons. The first was that it was human-esque. The second, because it had a head. Two prime ingredients for learning how to decapitate people.

Placing himself about eight strides away, Tousha began to run through his strategy in his head. He would first body flicker directly beside his opponent, using the added momentum from his burst of speed to unsheathe his sword and slam the end of his handle into the target's ribs. He would then leap off of the ground, flip, and bring the blade horizontally across the dummy's neck. Like he had said before, simple. With this plan in mind Tousha took off at a full sprint. After a moment Tousha would then disappear from sight entirely, but would reappear once more beside the training dummy.

He then drew his sword with lightning speed, ramming the hilt of the blade into where the target's ribs would be. Tousha knew better than anyone just how painful and distracting a good shot to the ribs could be, especially if one or two of them happened to break under the force of the blow. There's nothing like breaking a rib because you can't put a cast on one nor can you move your body without feeling a jab of pain sear through your torso. Good times.

The katana's hilt left an oval like mark on the wood encasing the sparring dummy. After landing this blow Tousha lept into the air, completely unsheathing his blade as he did. The katana's blade nicked the top of his target's head, but failed utterly to decapitate it. The Hokage landed smoothly on the ground behind the dummy, bent at the knee, spun his katana around, and stabbed under and past his own arm. He felt the katana's razor sharp edge bite into and then through the dummy's thick exterior.

With a twist of the wrist Tousha removed the blade from the dummy, spun it right side up once more, and then sheathed it at his side. He inspected his work through narrowed eyes, silently ridiculing himself for missing the target's neck. The scratch he had dealt to the dummy's head was mediocre at best, considering it was no more than an eigth of an inch deep. That would have definitely drawn blood, but it would have left the target's skull and brain in tact for sure. Luckily for him, and very unlickily for the dummy, the stab he had delivered between where the target's shoulder blades would be was more than eight inches deep. That would have ruined someone's day for sure.

"Either way, I killed him." Tousha said optomistically before moving eight strides away, preparing for his next attempt.

Tousha grunted as the hilt of his katana slammed into the training dummy's gut, which would probably cause an actual opponent to lurch forward reflexively. Tousha imagined the target's head just above his and brought his elbow up into the imagionary chin just above him. After doing so he jumped into the air in front of the target, flipped, and slashed diagonally while spinning.

The katana's razor sharp edge bit deep into the dummy's head, carving a large crescent shapred chunk from its head in the process. Better, but it still had a head, which was bad news. He landed behind his target just as before, but instead of stabbing behind himself he whipped around and brought his blade down onto the dummy's right shoulder. The katana sliced through nearly twelve inches of wood before coming to a stop.

Placing his foot on the dummy's back Tousha yanked the blade from its body, nearly falling down on his ass in the process. He really needed to work on his balance. After mocking himself Tousha inspected the dummy's wounds once more. He picked up the crescent shaped slice of wood from the ground and rotated it around in his hand.

It seemed to be nearly three inches wide, meaning his sword would have definitely slashed through the target's skull. Well, he had to take into account how much more tough a human's skull was compared to wood. So, if he had to guess, he would say that his attack would have left an inch deep gash in the opponent's head. More than enough to give Tousha the advantage for even a moment in battle.

But as much as Tousha was progressing, he could not ignore the fact that the dummy's head was still attached to its body. Even f it was slightly lighter and more funny looking than before. His problem was that he was having a tough time aiming his primary attack whilst flipping through the air. This was by far the most difficult portion of the technique. On the up side, if he figured out how to do it he would be able to completely perform the technique. Not one to be easily discouraged Tousha took a few strides and turned on his heels, already forming his attack strategy.

Just like before Tousha disappeared and then reappeared beside the dummy, this time chopping forward with his arm instead of drawing his katana. His forearm slammed into where his opponent's neck would be, which would surely make anyone gag and take a step backwards. That would be when Tousha would make his move. He gracefully jumped and flipped through the air in front of the dummy, using the momentum of his flip and his own strength to draw the katana from its sheath with lightning speed.

This time the steel blade bit deep into the dummy's neck and then, as Tousha spun up and over the dummy, cleanly cut through. Tousha found it highly unecissary to strike at the dummy any more, seeing as its head was now rolling towards the oak tree it was standing next to. The Hokage tapped his blade against the dummy's now vacant neck and grinned.

"Hey, you should keep a cool head in battle. There's no need to get hot headed with me, it's not my fault I'm a better fighter than you. Although I could see why you'd be angry, seeing how you can't get ahead in life anymore." The crickets living throughout the nearby forest chose this time to begin churping, making Tousha's pun filled dialogue seem all the worse.

"Tough crowd." he said with a shrug.

Description: This technique is said to be one of the Hekireki style’s most lethal and powerful techniques, only those who are highly experienced in the style itself are capable of performing it. successfully. The user will first create a kage bunshin while charging forward towards their target, allowing them to hide behind his or her own clone. The user will then have his or her kage bunshin lunge forward and attempt to slash or stab at the target. This attack is simply a distraction, as the kage bunshin sent ahead will immediately stab itself after the initial strike. This will limit surround the target in a cloud of white smoke, created after the kage bunshin is destroyed. This is when the user will make his or her move, only a split second after the initial attack. He or she will then lunge forward through the white smoke, aiming for the target’s torso or midsection area. If timed and executed correctly, this technique is incredibly lethal and has a very small chance of being dodged.
Tousha was getting tired in two ways. First off, his body was beginning to ache again due to the hours of training he had put himself through. He was also tired of learning low ranked techniques. Sure, they had their uses, but he knew better than anyone that a truly powerful high ranked technique could easily tilt the favor in any direction. And Tousha enjoyed tilting anything into his favor at any time.

Not only did he enjoy learning high ranked techniques, Tousha knew that he was ready to take his training in the Hekireki style to the next level. He had also discovered another section in the ancient book while flipping through it while he took another short break. This section had a very intimidating warning scribed onto the first page.

It included that these pages were not meant for the eyes of novice swordsmen, and that the techniques found throughout the section could be fatal if performed incorrectly. After taking a few moments to consider his options Tousha flipped the page, feeling confident that he was not a novice swordsman. After all, he had managed to learn several of the Hekireki style’s techniques simply by following a few pieces of artwork. He hadn’t even been given the luxury of a master of the stance to be taught by.

The first technique he found had his attention at “impossible to perform unless accompanied by a comrade.” The picture depicted two men charging forward, one of them hidden by the first. The first man would lunge forward with his weapon, either land a hit or be blocked, and would then politely move aside. That was when the second man would strike. Tousha realized that the first attack was merely a distraction used to leave the opponent exposed, the second strike was the primary attack. With the target left vulnerable after the first attack the second man would then slash with his weapon, attempting to land a blow.

Gears began churning in Tousha’s mind, accompanied by a sly grin and twinkling eyes. He had stumbled upon something truly great, and he intended to make it even more so. His “comrade” (or so to speak) would be replaced by a kage bunshin, which he could send forward and hide behind. The kage bunshin would strike and then destroy itself in the process, which would do two things. It could allow the clone to land a blow and it would shroud the target in the white smoke created after it was destroyed. The perfect distraction.

After the clone disappeared Tousha would strike through the haze, hopefully impaling the target before he even knew what hit him. A fine plan, and an even more fine jutsu. Tousha closed the book knowing that he had all the information he needed. Maybe it wasn’t the exact way of performing the jutsu, but Tousha wasn’t exactly a samurai.

”Hello, old friend.” Tousha said cheerfully, smacking the sparring dummy in the shoulder. Its head was still lying on the ground near the tall oak tree it was standing near. The Hokage wondered if that would be a problem but then realized that the point of this new technique wasn’t decapitation. So shorty would do just fine.

First and foremost Tousha needed to think of how he was going to pull this off. The timing of when he would create the clone, how he would create it while still holding his weapon, how much time he should wait between attacks, etc. All questions that caused Tousha’s eyebrows to furrow because none of them had simple answers. It also made him realize that there were so many ways he could screw up. If he created the kage bunshin too soon he wouldn’t be able to hide behind it effectively, if he attacked the target too soon the clone wouldn’t have enough time to destroy itself, and most importantly, where would each strike be aimed?

It took the good part of a half hour to get all of these questions figured out. First he would body flicker forward, creating the kage bunshin while still in mid run which would give himself enough time to hide behind the kage bunshin. This would make the target believe that he had simply body flickered forward in the attempt to get closer to him.

After doing this he would make his clone lunge forward and then stab itself, regardless of the outcome. Tousha would need to experiment a little to figure out just how long it took a clone to disperse into a cloud of white smoke, but he’d cross that bridge once he got there. Then, after the white haze clouded the target’s view, Tousha would lunge forward himself with lightning speed and hopefully run the target through with his katana.

Now he was ready for the first attempt. He had a game plan, a target, and a sword, what else could he ask for? A chocolate sundae would be nice, but this was no time for dessert. Taking a few deep breaths, Tousha mentally prepared himself for the task at hand. Then, without warning, he kicked off of the ground and disappeared from sight.

It was always hard to describe the feeling one experiences while body flickering. If Tousha had ever been given the opportunity to watch the into to Star Trek , he would say it was a lot like that. Body flickering was, in essence, running really really really fast in a short time through a short distance. Tousha was very familiar with this technique and even used it often. He, however, had never attempted to perform another jutsu simultaneously. The Hokage would soon learn that this was a case where it was easier said than done.

He completed the single hand seal needed for the kage bunshin technique, but the truly ticky part was maintaining not your speed, but the clone’s while running. To his dismay the bunshin appeared behind him on the ground standing perfectly still. This was a problem because he was supposed to be hiding behind it, and he was clearly in front of it. The frustrated kage came to a skidding stop far short of his target, released his jutsu, and went back to his starting place.

Three attempts later Tousha began to grasp the concept of creating a kage bunshin whilst body flickering. It was a very complicated procedure, considering if you screwed it up you could very well end up smacking into yourself at like a gazillion miles an hour. The key was throwing the chakra needed to form the clone forward ahead of yourself just before the bunshin was created. This would cause the bunshin to move at the same rate as himself, After understanding and being able to pull this off, hiding behind the clone was a simple matter and one that Tousha succeeded on his first attempt.

So next came the initial strike, the key to distracting the target from Tousha’s actual attack. Without hesitation Tousha burst forward once more, created a kage bunshin, and then completely hid behind it. The kage bunshin struck the wooden dummy by lunging forward and impaling it through the left shoulder. At the same time the clone stabbed itself in the gut with the jitte wedged between its belt. Sure enough, a split second after the clone’s attack, the dummy became shrouded in a veil of white smoke.

All of this would take place in less than half a second, giving tousha plenty of time to make his move. With another burst of speed Tousha sprinted forward, sunk low to the ground, and stabbed directly through the cloud of white smoke. He felt the katana’s blade tear through the dummy and smiled with satisfaction.

He had managed to pull off the technique from start to finish in less than two seconds. He nearly giggled at the idea of trying to avoid such an attack, or better yet, the idea of trying to see through it. He remembered his father’s voice loud and clear in his ears. “Deception is a shinobi’s most loyal ally.” He began to wonder if his father had ever been wrong. So far, as much as Tousha could remember, he had not been.

Just to be sure Tousha completed the same process two more times, each time he tried he seemed to succeed with more and more ease. The technique itself was quite simple to master once you figured out how to work out all the kinks. After fourty five minutes Tousha sheathed his sword, satisfied with his progress.

You're not getting off that easy. Tousha heard Twilight mutter this just in time to draw his sword and block the kami's lunge. The two blades met just in front of Tousha's face and showered sparks into the air around the two combatants. But instead of parrying the blow Tousha held his ground and pushed back against Twilight's curved weapon, feeling confident in his own strength. The two struggled against each other for nearly fifteen seconds before Twilight spun to Tousha's right side, swung the blade in a wide arc, and brought it down on Tousha's shoulder.

"What's your problem?!" Tousha screamed as he jumped backwards out of the way of Twilight's attack. He came to a skidding stop, his blade held in front of himself defensively. Twilight didn't respond, well, at least not in the way that Tousha wished. Instead of explaining why it had started attacking him, Twilight bellowed with rage and sprinted forward, clearly in no mood to continue their conversation.

The two continued exchanging blows for several moments before Tousha came to his senses. "You just learned a two hundred year old fighting style for just this kind of occasion." he told himself as he ducked under yet another jab. As twilight brought its blade back up in an attempt to overhead slam Tousha, the Hokage burst forward with tremendous speed and slashed at Twilight's right side.

He felt the katana's blade slice cleanly through the kami's white armor, which resulted in Twilight grunting in pain as Tousha continued forward and past his opponent. The kami whipped around to see Twilight holding the katana horizontally in a crouched position. It ran its hand along the wound on its hip and raised it to its face. A black liquid coated Twilight's fingers, but it was quickly evaporating into a black fog into the air.

It's been a while since someone's made me bleed. You should either feel very proud or very frightened. Tousha scoffed and stood to his full height. "Yeah, I'm shaking in my...sandals.... That comeback is far less effective when you aren't earing boots." Twilight simply stood there, glaring at Tousha as if he had wronged him in some way. You aren't funny.

Of all the things Twilight could have said, this comment as by far the most angering. "You take that back you soulless suit of armor." (imagine an extreme close up on Twilight's eyes and dramatic, bass heavy metal music) And I hate game shows. They're. So. Dumb. (Now a close up on Tousha's face) The Hokage's eyebrows furrowed and a scowl spread across his face. "That's it whitey. You want a piece of me? Well I'm going to give you the whole plate! AND I DIDN'T EVEN WASH IT!!"

Tousha disappeared from sight, only to appear a mere three strides from Twilight. The kami swiped forward, attempting to hack the Kage's head off in one fell swoop. Tousha was too fast for the kami, however, and managed to dip down below the whistling blade. He stabbed forward with the katana in his hands, but only met air as Twilight faded right and brought its elbow directly onto Tousha's head.

His face slacked as Twilight's blow connected, but it was Twilight who grunted in confusion as the kage disappeared into a cloud of white smoke that shrouded it and fogged its view. It was at this time when the real Tousha appeared through the smoke and slammed the dull side of his katana into Twilight's helm. The kami's head snapped to the right and several shards of white armor fell to the ground at Tousha's feet.

"How's that for dumb you big jerk?!" Tousha screamed, already getting red in the face. But he found himself screaming at nothing but the lake in front of him. Twilight had clearly already teleported away, probably out of shame. Or to make tousha feel like an idiot for screaming at someone who wasn't there. Either way Tousha guessed it worked.

You think that's enough to put me down? Twilight muttered, appearing behind Tousha through a veil of black cloaks. Tousha whipped around and slashed forward, aiming for Twilight's shoulder. The kami easily blocked and parried the attack, causing Tousha to lurch backwards on his heels. The wind was torn from his lungs as Twilight's armored foot slammed into his exposed gut. The kage's eyes went wide and he gasped just before being launched into the air and into the lake just a few feet behind himself.

So that's all huh? That's all the great lord of the village hidden in the leaves can offer? It's pathetic. Twilight hissed through Tousha's mind. He was still trying to get over that brutal kick to the gut, but the words still stung against Tousha's pride. That hurt far worse than his sudden lack of oxygen ever could. These words also gave Tousha the drive to get up and kick Twilight's ass.

The Hokage swam to the surface of the pond, focused his chakra throughout the bottoms of his feet, and stood atop the lake's surface, katana in hand. He sprinted forward across the lake, creating a twin set of waves to kick up under his feet that trailed behind him as he ran. The water under his feet was flung high into the air as he body flickered forward, creating a clone in front of himself as he did. But, instead of following behind the clone, Tousha fell silently into the pond water below.

The kage bunshin reached the lake's shore and raised its katana high into the air. Twilight also dashed forward, ready to block and counter the clone's attack. But at the last moment it darted to the left and swiped across Twilight's chest. Twilight still managed to block the blow, but the kami failed to cause the bunshin any harm. The kage bunshin struck once more with a brutal overhead slam. Twilight parried this blow and managed to punch forward, hitting the clone square in the chest.

Unfortunately for Twilight, it was unaware that this Tousha had been a clone. Once more the kami was surrounded by a thick white smoke that impaired its vision dramatically. The real Tousha had already managed to jump into a nearby tree and had watched this unfold without being seen. He kicked off of the tree branch and soared into the air, katana still sheathed at his side. Twilight was still twisting its head from side to side trying to locate him, meaning it hadn't noticed him yet.

With a soft thud Tousha landed on the ground just beside the kami, who spun around and raised its curved weapon high into the air. But it was too late, Tousha's katana stabbed deep into the spirit's thigh. The kami gasped in surprise and dropped its blade, a sure sign of surrender. But Tousha wasn't in a forgiving mood. He spun on his heel and slammed the back of his hand into Twilight's jaw while simultaneously ripping the katana's blade from the kami's body.

Twilight sprawled across the ground, face in the dirt. Tousha sheathed his weapon and made his way towards the house, very tired of training all of a sudden.

Raiton - Chidori Tekidan [ Lightning element - Thousand birds grenade]
Rank: B-rank
Prerequisites: Chidori
Description: Chidori Tekidan is a technique developed by the Hokage, Tousha Umezawa, from the original Chidori technique. Tousha can perform this jutsu in one of two ways, the first involves him performing the basic Chidori technique, charging the raiton chakra with a small but intense dose of explosive energy, and then throwing it at his opponent. On contact or at Tousha’s command this ball of energy will burst violently outwards, causing anyone within the vicinity (5 feet in all directions) to be painfully electrocuted. The second method of this technique forgoes the entire first step and merely allows Tousha to cause this explosion instantly anywhere within a fifteen foot radius around himself. This second method requires a slightly larger amount of chakra but is considerably harder to dodge.
After his encounter with Twilight, Tousha was in no mood for any more Taijutsu training. In fact, at this point, he didn't really want to see another sword for the next thirty six hours. With this in mind he promptly shut his katana and jitte in his room's closet, took a quick shower, and went to bed. The kage was asleep before he even hit the bed.

The next morning he felt, to say the least, like hell. his legs hurt from all the sprinting he had done, his arms hurt from the swinging, and his neck hurt because he had slept on it wrong. Overall it was the eighth worst morning of his life. Maybe the ninth. Regardless, the Hokage didn't feel much like training, so he fell back to sleep and began snoring loudly. It was two hours later when Tousha found himself dropping into the cold, less than refreshing water of the lake.

"Gaah!" he shrieked as the cold water covered his body quite unpleasantly. He floundered around underwater for a few moments before rising to the surface, pissed off and confused at life. "What the hell??" He screamed as his head broke the surface. He quickly wiped his eyes and twisted his head around, trying to find the person responsible for this. It had to have been Twilight, who else had the weird voodoo powers to lift people a good fifty yards away from their bed without noticing? But, to his surprise, he found no one anywhere in sight.

"But... huh?" he muttered, twisting his body around and looking in the other direction. He would have scratched his head if he wasn't using both of his arms to stay afloat. With a grunt Tousha focused his chakra through the water around him and pulled himself to the lake's surface. He stood there, half naked, in the middle of the body of water, trying desperately to figure out what was going on. But before he could the landscape changed dramatically, the Hokage found himself in the middle of a battlefield.

Before he could even begin to understand what was going on something hit him and hit him hard. He sprawled across the ground and instinctively rolled, reaching for the katana at his side. Unfortunately the only thing he gripped was the lining of his underpants, his weapon was nowhere to be found. So, having nothing better to do, Tousha teleported through the nearest shadow he could find.

He wound up on a tree branch high above the battlefield. The strange thing about this whole fight was that all of the combatants were all clones of himself. Each one was using some sort of raiton technique. He noticed several using chidori, but from what he could tell, a majority of them were using techniques he had never seen before. One clone encased himself with lightning and sent two others flying backwards. One created dozens of lightning birds and used them to swarm around anyone near him. And one, to Tousha's amazement, shot a bolt of lightning into the air.

Dark clouds formed around the forest, excluding a small hole of still blue sky above the Tousha that had shot the raiton chakra into the air. Soon enough, these storm clouds began producing rain. But this wasn't typical rain, this rain was made of chidori fragments. He watched as this rain cut the other clones to pieces before they even had a chance to evade. But how could they? It was literally as hard as avoiding the rain. Then there was a loud crash, and Tousha's eyes snapped open.

You were having an unpleasant dream. twilight said, a pot and spoon in his hands. Wait, where are you going? Tousha was already up on his feet and making a beeline for the closet. He opened the door with a twist of the wrist, rummaged through the contents of the small space for a moment, and shut the door once more, weapons in hand. "I've got work to do." was all he said before slipping on his clothes on and walking out the door.

His dream had put so many ideas in his head that he couldn't have possibly kept lying in bed. But the question was which one should he try first. He decided to keep it simple and train the least difficult idea he had. Or at least what he thought to be the least difficult.

In his dream he had seen one of his clones perform the basic chidori technique, but then actually throw the energy in his hand at an opponent. This ball of energy then exploded, electrocuting anyone near the cloud of static electricity. He witnessed another perform the same basic technique, except he forwent the first step and simply created an explosion of electricity instantly. Both ideas were incredibly appealing to Tousha, but he figured that forming the energy in his hands first would be far more simple than just creating an explosion out of nothing.

But first, he needed to figure out how to throw the damn thing. Chidori is a very complicated because, if you screw up, you could end up electrocuting yourself. This became a very real threat if Tousha was trying to actually throw the energy that would be created in the palm of his hand. He needed to be extremely careful or he could end up taking an unexpected trip to the emergency ward.

First Tousha grabbed his right wrist with his left hand to stabilize his arm, this would make creating the ball of lightning far easier. With a little effort Tousha focused some raiton energy into his hand, and soon enough his fingers began crackling with white and blue lightning. The energy began chirping loudly as if a thousand birds surrounded it. Tousha remembered the first time he had completed this technique and grinned at the thought, knowing how proud he had been of himself. Now that accomplishment seemed so meager compared to his recent rise to Hokage.

So he sat there, a chirping ball of raiton chakra crackling in the palm of his hand, trying to figure out a way to throw it without causing injury to himself or letting it dissipate. He knew that if his chakra flow was cut off from the ball then it would become harmless and would eventually disappear from sight, and Tousha didn't feel like wasting his chakra every time he failed. Eventually that kind of chakra usage would get to him and force him to take a rest, if not cause him to pass out. So he was going to get it right on the first try. Or at least the second.

With a grimace, Tousha flooded the ball of lightning in his hand with a small but intense amount of chakra in the hopes that the energy could feed off of it long enough to allow the raiton chakra to detonate. With no second thoughts Tousha brought his arm back and hurled the Chidori through the air with all his might.

To his surprise the ball of lightning arced gracefully through the air. But to his dismay, it exploded far sooner than he had expected. Shielding his face with his hands, Tousha quickly backed away from the now dangerous cloud of static electricity that filled the air. Luckily for him he had reacted fast enough and escaped the painful blast. Unfortunately for him, he had to waste yet another dose of chakra on yet another ball of lightning.

And waste the chakra he did, within moments of his first attempt Tousha was already going for it again. Halfway through forming the ball of lightning in his hands he had a thought, however. A large majority of the chakra in a basic Chidori attack is dedicated to making it razor sharp, not making it able to electrocute people. With this thought in mind Tousha focused a considerably less amount of chakra into the lightning arcing through his fingertips. He found that he reached the same general effect, except this raiton energy would be incapable of slicing through anything. This suited him, however, considering he was trying to make things go boom.

He still needed the additional burst of normal chakra though, because without it the lightning would simply dissipate and become harmless. The chakra in the center of the "grenade", if you will, acted as a sort of fuse. Once that chakra ran out, the lightning would burst outwards in all directions because there would be nothing holding it together. Tousha also realized this is exactly how he would cause these kinds of explosions to occur throughout the air around him.

If he were to merely focus raiton energy into a certain point it would act much like the ball of lightning in his palm. It would gather for a moment and then burst outwards because there would be nothing keeping it together. A combustion of sorts. It made Tousha very happy to realize this because one, he wouldn't have to use as much chakra as the normal chidori, and two, if he did screw up that meant less electricity running through his body.

With one last breath Tousha added in the small but intense dose of chakra to the lightning ball. The lightning fluctuated for a moment, but then stabilized once more as it began feeding off of the chakra at its center. It was at this moments that Tousha hurled the lightning ball a good fifteen feet away, which was by no means as far as he could have thrown it. He just didn't see the point in trying to.

The lightning sphere arced through the air, blue and white bolts of raiton chakra chirping loudly around it as it flew. Tousha watched as the lightning absorbed the last of the chakra inside the sphere and then burst outwards, creating a lethal cloud of static electricity. Tousha knew better than anyone that if someone were to touch even a single bolt of that lightning, their day would be officially ruined.

Raiton - Chidori Mure [Lightning element - Thousand birds flock]
Rank: B-rank
Prerequisites: Chidori
Description: Chidori Mure is a technique developed by the Hokage, Tousha Umezawa, from the original Chidori technique. Instead of merely the electrical force through his body, Tousha will gather the energy in the palm of his hand and will then spread the raiton chakra throughout the area around him (much like Chidori Nagashi). The arcs of lightning will rapidly take the form of two dozen swallow sized birds, each of which has about an eighth of the destructive power of the original Chidori technique. Tousha will direct these birds towards his target and attempt to swarm him or her completely. Any contact with these birds will cause numbness, painful electrocution, and even impale wounds.
Tousha took a quick break so he could replenish his chakra. He still had plenty left, but he still had a lot of work to do so he didn't want to wear himself out too quickly. As he sat on his favorite boulder overlooking the pond's cool, clear water, he pondered which technique to train in next.

The raining Chidori droplets of doom was out of the question because he feared for the safety of the nearby village, not to mention his own house. He could only imagine what the council of elders would do to him if they discovered he was the one who was responsible for the destruction of several homes. Or worse, the destruction of the Konoholic... again.

So that narrowed it down to one of three jutsu. He could either try the lightning birds o' doom, the lightning ring o' doom, or the Chidori Nagashi technique. He quickly ruled out the ring and Nagashi techniques, his reasoning being that he wanted to get the easier stuff out of the way. And since he already had a jutsu in which he controlled a butt load of paper birds, how much harder could this one be?

"Okay... be the bird... Be.The.Bird." Tousha kept muttering to himself, focusing a ball of raiton chakra into the palm of his hand. He had no clue what to do with this one. Last time he had just needed to make the same old chidori he always had and then hurl it through the air. Now he was going to attempt to form the lightning into intricate birds that he would need to control through the air. He could always lower the amount of birds, but what would be the fun in that?

So, continuously muttering his good luck chant, Tousha began spreading the raiton chakra throughout his body. The sensation was strange, but he felt no pain. It was like he had tingling goosebumps all over his body. Tousha pushed that random thought out of his mind as he focused on the task at hand. He slowly pushed the lightning further and further from his body, careful not to accidentally lose control of a section of the now forming dome around him. Slowly but surely the arcs of lightning began converging into several spheres of crackling energy. The first step was complete, but it was time for the tricky stuff now.

A bead of sweat ran down the Hokage's forehead as he concentrated more and more on the lethal raiton chakra that was jumping to life around him. He knew even the slightest mistake could be catastrophic, so the process of crafting the lightning into small, bird shaped bolts was a tedious and painstaking one. If it wasn't for his sheer determination, skill in raiton manipulation, and patience, Tousha would have been a dead man long ago and he knew it.

The first of the raiton birds were beginning to form to his immediate right. He could feel the lightning shaping under his chakra, first came the beak, then the rest of the head, then the neck, then the wings and body, then lastly the long, crackling tail. It was a surprisingly delicate process considering if the chakra flow was cut off from the lightning then it would pretty much blow up in his face. Literally. After about three minutes and several beads of sweat later, Tousha managed to form the last chidori bird.

From what he could tell there were nearly two dozen of the creatures, which were all lazily flying elliptical paths around their creator. Obviously these birds couldn't think on their own, but with the help of Tousha's chakra they looked incredibly lifelike. Tousha felt that it was a shame to destroy such beautiful looking things, but he also knew what pain he could cause with them. The conflict tugged at his mind for a moment before he came to his senses. They weren't alive, so why was he asking such stupid questions? With this logic in mind Tousha pointed his arm into the direction of a nearby boulder, fingers extended with the effort of manipulating the chakra running through his lightning birds of doom.

The creatures reacted instantly and simultaneously. Each swallow picked up speed to the point where they appeared as blue and white flying blurs as they neared their target. They slammed into the boulder's outer surface nearly at the same time, Tousha watched as the birds' Chidori sharp beaks began slicing and digging through the rock's outer layer. But, as Tousha closed his fist and released the chakra inside the birds, they fluctuated, broke apart, and ultimately exploded into a large cloud of crackling static electricity.

As the blue and white ribbons of lightning cleared from the area Tousha could see the boulder clearly once more. Well, if you could even call it a boulder anymore. Its surface was entirely covered in black scorch marks from where the raiton chakra had detonated against it, there were several cracks and scars that riddled it as well from where their beaks had struck.

Most surprising of all was the fact that the boulder was now two smaller boulders. The blast had actually managed to crack the tough rock into two halves. Overall, Tousha couldn't have been more pleased. But he also knew that he had got very lucky, considering he had done so well on his first try. He also knew that he needed a lot more practice so that he could pull this technique off in a faster time than three minutes.

Tousha found himself once again surrounded by blue and white crackling energy that could very well kill him if he lost his concentration. The process of forming the birds was becoming much easier since his first attempt. He had always been a quick learner, especially when it came to Ninjutsu, and that quality was certainly paying off for him at this moment.

Only about twenty seconds had gone by, a far shorter amount of time than his first attempt, but in no way fast enough for the battlefield. If he wanted to try this technique in battle then he would need to be able to pull it off in, at the most, ten seconds. Even that was pushing it, especially against a strong opponent. But Tousha also figured that the makeshift cage of static electricity would prevent anyone getting near him while he was performing the technique, much like his beloved static canon kanji technique.

Just as before Tousha motioned forward with his arm, extending his fingers as he manipulated the chakra flowing through his chidori birds. They reacted the same as well by flying towards the same, now ruined, set of boulders about twenty feet from Tousha. The impact and detonation caused the ground below the Hokage to shake. It also managed to send bits of the now even more ruined set of boulders high into the air. Tousha frowned, realizing he would need a new victim to target.

His third attempt went rather well. This was because he managed to manifest the raiton chakra, spread it around himself, converge the lightning into specific points, and then form exactly twenty four raiton birds of doom in less than ten seconds. An accomplishment that boosted Tousha's already swollen ego.

For the heck of it Tousha picked out a nearby elm tree and sicked his lightning birds on it. The poor thing didn't stand a chance. Within moments the chidori birds had already stabbed into the tree, nearly cutting it into splinters from the get go, detonated, which did in fact reduce it to splinters, and then fell to the ground in the form of fresh ground mulch.

Chidori Eisou is a Lightning Element technique developed by [Insert Character name here]. The user is able to shape the Lightning Element to form an extending blade of lightning. Though unstated, this blade probably takes on Chidori's characteristics, including it's ability to cut through anything which stands in its path, allowing the sword to strike its target with ease. This attack may also be similar to Chidori Nagashi, causing the target to go numb from the electrical charge.
:: 16 hours later ::

After he had mastered his newest Chidori technique the last thing he had felt like doing was learning anything else. So the Hokage called it a day and retreated into the confines of his humble cabin, turned on the TV., grabbed the first beer he’d had in about three weeks, and passed out on his favorite chair. It was, in his opinion, the best night’s sleep he had ever had.

But his relaxation didn’t last long, in fact it seemed downright cruel how fast it seemed to pass by. Tousha knew what was going to happen just before he hit the water, but the lake’s chilling water was still a shock to his entire body.

”Another dream?” Tousha thought to himself as he fought his way through the cold water. With a small splash the Hokage launched himself into the air and flooded chakra into his feet, he landed on the lake’s surface and gazed around. If it was a dream it didn’t look like it, considering the only thing he could see was his property.

It’s time to continue… Twilight’s voice was even more chilling than the ice cold water running down his body and as loud as a thunderclap. If it had been the first time he had heard the kami’s voice he would have probably pissed himself and screamed like a little girl. But since he was very familiar with his “guardian angel” the Hokage simply closed his eyes and responded.

”You know, it wouldn’t kill you to wake me up like a normal person. A tap on the shoulder, shaking me around, hell I’d even prefer an air horn to this.” Tousha made his way to the lake’s bank and dried off as best as he could, which included removing his father’s old sash and his Konoha flack jacket. ”You could at least give me a…” Tousha muttered before something bright blue and fluffy hit him square in the face. Tousha grabbed the object and ripped it off of his head and glared at it. ”Towel.” he finished.

Once he was nice and relatively dry Tousha got back to work, and he decided that if he was going to fail he was going to fail big time. It wasn’t his style to start off his day by learning something pretty high ranked, but his unexpected dip in the lake had got him rather hot headed and he needed to blow off some steam. He had heard of a Chidori-based technique that lets the user create a beam of raiton chakra that had the same destructive powers of Chidori itself. There was nothing he didn’t like about that description so he was going for it.

To start off with Tousha lowered his right hand and gripped his wrist with the other hand, after doing so he flooded a large amount of chakra into the center of his palm. He felt the familiar tingling sensation as the blue and white lightning engulfed his hand entirely, the technique’s unique noise soon followed. Within moments of starting the technique the air around his right fist was jumping with crackling lightning and it sounded as if a thousand birds were chirping along, hence the name.

So now he had the ball of lightning in his hands, but he didn’t really know what to do with it at this point. He understood what the technique would look like if he were to perform it correctly, but crafting a sword and using one are two entirely different things. First the kage attempted to extend the lightning forward, but only managed to cause the arcs of lightning to lean away from himself. Next he simply tried to release the ball of lightning forward, but that only resulted in it stretching a few inches forward before returning to normal.

You have to produce more lightning and then extend the blade. Twilight muttered in an almost frustrated tone as if Tousha was a schoolboy.

But he ignored the kami’s tone and thought about its advice. Producing more lightning would make sense, but at the same time it would burn more chakra. But he didn’t have any better ideas so he threw caution to the wind and concentrated even more chakra into the ball of lightning in his fist. But instead of simply stock piling the lightning chakra he extended it forward at a rapid pace, allowing the still-forming chakra in his palm to run down the length of his makeshift lightning sword.

The result was more than Tousha could have hoped for, mostly because it didn’t blow up in his face or end up slicing through his torso. The lightning blade extended two feet past his fingers before Tousha stopped the chakra flow. To his surprise the Chidori blade didn’t recede back into the center of his palm but instead kept its shape. Tousha made a note of that fact before he released the jutsu and ended up with the original Chidori technique chirping in his fist.

The crackling blue and white lightning still chirped loudly throughout the air around Tousha’s fist, he figured it was pointless to waste perfectly good chakra if he could just keep using the same Chidori technique over and over. The thought of a public announcement about recycling raiton chakra flashed through Tousha’s mind and he couldn’t help but crack a grin.

You are such an idiot.

”Yeah well you smell funny.”

Clever.

“Well duh, I’m the one who said it. Now shut it so I can try this again.”

The kami didn’t respond but Tousha couldn’t help but feel like he had lost that battle of wits. Tousha: 4,567 Twilight: 1.

Just like before Tousha focused an even larger amount of chakra into his hand and simultaneously pushing the lightning forward. As he did so a blade-like beam of lightning extended from his clenched fist. He reached the two feet mark much more easily than before so he decided to press his luck and see just how far he could extend the Chidori mana. To his surprise he didn’t even have difficulty until he reached the ten feet mark which was far better than he originally expected. But he reached his limit at twelve and a half feet, so he released the chakra and watched as the Chidori blade receded back into his open palm. This time Tousha released the lightning by stopping the chakra that was flowing through the crackling energy. He knew that simply being able to form the blade would never be enough, using a sword and fighting with one are two entirely different things, after all.

After quickly completing the kage bunshin technique three exact replicas of the Hokage stood in a circle around their creator. His orders were simple, try to dodge his attacks. Nothing more, nothing less. When Tousha formed a new Chidori in his clenched fist the kage bunshin began darting around him, always staying at least eight strides away from him just like he had commanded.

With unmatched speed the Hokage slashed his arm forward, added a large dose of chakra to the blue and white crackling lightning in his palm, and extended that lightning forward at a rapid pace all simultaneously. The blue and white sword of raiton chakra shot forward, but narrowly missed the clone he had been aiming for. But Tousha didn’t give up that easily, so with a grunt he shifted his body weight and spun around completely, bringing the lightning blade down on the same bunshin that was now directly in front of himself. The Chidori sword’s razor sharp edge tore through the clone like a warm knife through better, before the bunshin could even look surprised both halves poofed away into a cloud of white smoke.

Tousha continued his attack by spinning on his heels once more, the ten feet long Chidori sword tore through the earth below the kage’s feet as he brought the lightning edge upwards. The tip of the blade impaled another clone through the abdomen, causing it to disappear into a cloud of smoke as well.

By this time the remaining clone had already started sprinting towards the treeline, pretty much forcing Tousha to chase it down. The Hokage pushed off of the ground with incredible force, which caused his body to move forward with such speed that the only visible part of him was the lightning trail that emitted from the Chidori blade attached to his fist. Tousha appeared behind one of the remaining clones and grabbed the back of its collar, by pulling backwards and twisting his wrist Tousha managed to lift the bunshin off of its feet. It slammed into the dirt just before the lightning blade pierced through it’s stomach and then proceeded to burn past eight feet of hard earth.

When the bunshin disappeared from sight Tousha whipped the Chidori blade from the ground and stared at it with a sly grin on his face.

”Oh yeah, I can definitely put this to good use..” he trailed off as the Chidori edge receded back into his fist.

Code: Select all

Raiton - Chidori Rein [Lightning Element - Thousand Birds Rain]
Rank: S-rank
Prerequisites: Chidori, Chidori Eisou
Description: Chidori Rein is a technique developed by the Hokage, Tousha Umezawa, from the original Chidori technique. Instead of merely focusing the electrical force to his body, Tousha will gather the energy in his arm or sword and then release it high into the air. Immediately the sky will become dark as several storm clouds encircle the battleground (Tousha is able to control where these clouds manifest). These clouds above the battle ground will then release a downpour of needle shaped drops of raiton chakra that have the same destructive capabilities as chidori itself. Contact with these lightning slivers will cause numbness, painful electrocution, and deep lacerations. This technique is considered to be one of the most destructive jutsu in Tousha's arsenal and has the ability to change the environment of the battlefield itself. Lasts two posts.
Finally, Tousha knew that he was ready to tackle what he had been thinking of head on. With the new techniques he had learned he was finally able to perform the technique that he had seen in his dream two days earlier, one of the most destructive techniques he had ever seen. He knew that he was going to have to be very careful, otherwise he could very well destroy his home and the forest that surrounded it. Not to mention himself. Especially himself.

In his dream a clone of himself had, for the lack of better words, shot a big ass lightning bolt into the air. The lightning bolt created some dark clouds that surrounded the entire battlefield, except for a single blue dot above himself of course. The clouds then proceeded to expel what looked like miniature blades of raiton chakra, blades that looked like miniature forms of the Chidori Eisou technique.

That's why Tousha knew he would have to master the Chidori Eisu technique before he even began to understand how this chidori rain worked because otherwise the droplets wouldn't be able to fall downwards, or cut anything in their path for that matter.

The idea of a technique so powerful gave Tousha chills, but he knew that with such a technique he would be better able to defend konoha. But he would need to learn how to control it. If he wasn't able to then he could wind up killing thousands of villagers residing in Konoha. That thought gave Tousha even more chills.

So, to begin with, the kage completed those all too familiar hand seals before raising his right hand into the air. A moment later a blue and white ball of lightning came to life in his fist, crackling through the air and chirping almost angrily. Tousha then looked up into the sky and arched his eyebrow, unsure of how to go about this without destroying everything in sight. So he decided to take baby steps.

After taking the precaution of standing in the center of the lake residing on his front lawn, Tousha was ready to begin. The kage raised his arm high above his head and closed his eyes in concentration, his breath becoming deep and slow. there was no point in rushing at this stage of training the technique, it would only lead to personal injury.

He felt as the lightning in his open palm began to rise into the air, much like how the Chidori Eisou technique appeared. But this beam of raiton chakra was much different, it wasn't sharp to the touch but held a considerably larger amount of chakra. The beam of light rose about thirty feet into the air before stopping, at this point the Hokage's face was wrinkled and grim looking because of exertion.

Once at it's climax, the raiton jutsu began to disperse throughout the air overhead. The crackling blue and white chakra expanded like a slow moving ripple across a calm lake. As the last of the raiton chakra dispersed through the air Tousha lowered his hand and bowed his head, trying to focus on the lightning above to the best of his ability. He was discovering very quickly that manipulating raiton energy dozens of feet in the air wasn't a walk in the park.

But over several minutes Tousha was able to create dark looking storm clouds out of the static electricity produced by his technique, clouds filled to the brim with rapidly sharpening needle shaped drops of lightning.

But before he began his downpour of blue and white chirping doom Tousha suddenly remembered that he had forgotten something vitally important to his survival, the small hole that he had to create above himself in order to remain safe from the raiton chakra. So with a last exhausting effort the kage managed to spread the thick black clouds directly overhead away from a center point, which ultimately created a ten feet wide gap. After doing this, he was ready to bring the rain.

Tousha spread his arms wide and flexed his fingers into tense claws as he released the chakra from the clouds above. And by release, he shot the sliver-shaped shards of raiton chakra down towards the lake's surface.

The first of the sliver-like shards of raiton chakra began descending upon the lake's cool, clear water. The chirping drops of raiton chakra clashed with the water, creating small bouts of white mist throughout the area. The sound reminded of Tousha of the original chidori technique, but on a much grander scale.

It was like he was surrounded by an angry swarm of angry birds while being in the middle of a hurricane. He had never actually been lucky enough to be in a hurricane but he imagined that's what it sounded like.

But even if it was impressive that he had managed to actually perform the technique correctly on the first attempt Tousha knew that he could always improve on his technique. Make the chidori shards sharper, create more of them, create a larger attack radius, those kinds of things. So after the downpour died down after several long moments Tousha took a short break to wash his face and take a few gulps of refreshing water. Then he got back to business.

Just as before Tousha completed the needed hand seals for the chidori technique, and then proceeded to extend the same raiton energy high into the air. The energy spread apart just as before, but Tousha tried to see just how far he could extend the radius of the storm clouds before he spread the chakra too far apart. He was surprised to see that he could extend the raiton chakra far more than he though, the dark clouds began forming through the air above the lake and stopped just short of the shoreline on all sides.

Now it was time to sharpen the chakra slivers forming throughout the clouds. This was also about as easy as a four dimensional cross word puzzle. Sharpening a single beam of lightning was one thing, but sharpening several hundred shards of lightning was an entirely different matter that took all of Tousha's concentration to pull off. But he was the Hokage, so he was cool enough to pull something like this off and look damn good doing it.

This time when the chidori rain commenced he noticed a blatant increase in its lethality. Each shard of lightning easily passed a good three feet through the cool water before dissipating into a small cloud of static electricity. This made Tousha very thankful that the drops were hitting about five feet away from all sides, saving him from what he knew to be an incredibly lethal amount of electricity that was currently running through the lake.

After the rain ended the dark storm clouds disappeared, allowing the sun to cast its light upon the water once more.

Now it was time to see if he could shoot the raiton chakra into the air and control exactly where the storm clouds appeared, it would be the perfect way to test just how much he could control his new technique.

Repeating the same process Tousha completed the needed hand seals for Chidori and then pointed his hand upwards, shooting the crackling blue and white lightning high into the sky. Next he extended the static electricity throughout the sky into a single point, which was roughly eight feet in diameter and approximately fifteen feet from where Tousha stood.

As expected, a small patch of dark clouds formed in the exact spot Tousha had been hoping for. He realized now that he would be able to avoid risking anyone else's safety while performing this new technique because he could control where his deadly chidori rain fell.

And fall it did, a moment after forming the angry, black clouds above the lake's surface began to spew out incredibly sharp splinters of raiton chakra downward. The downpour of raiton slivers pierced through the water like a sharp knife through bread, showing no mercy to anything they came into contact with. After the clouds dispersed and disappeared from sight Tousha was ready to begin his final test.

He originally thought of using clones for this final portion of his training, but he thought better of it just before he completed the single hand seal needed to complete the jutsu. If he split his chakra now he would be completely and utterly spent after completing the high ranked technique even once. And he wanted to learn this technique without falling face first into a lake, forcing what he knew would be a disgruntled kami to save his knocked out ass. So, after a short trip back to land and one unhappy tree later, he was ready to start.

Dozens upon dozens of logs floated lazily across the lake's surface. Bobbing here, bobbing there, generally acting like logs do whilst floating in a liquid. But Tousha didn't have time to go into the deeper aspects of pieces of trees floating in a lake, he was too busy trying to destroy them.

A white beam of light rapidly shot high into the air, closely followed by arcing and spiraling trails of blue chakra. This bolt of lightning then shot outwards in all directions, covering the sky with a thin layer of chirping static electricity. After a few short moments dark clouds began rapidly forming above the calm lake bed, shrouding it in darkness like a blanket.

A loud chirping noise could be heard from every direction as the razor sharp lightning fragments began falling at a fast pace from the sky. The downpour of raiton chakra impaled the water and logs alike, showing no mercy towards anything unfortunate enough to get in its way.

After several moments Tousha walked across the lake's surface and picked a nearby log. When he examined it a large grin broke out across his face. The log looked like it had been impaled with a sword dozens of times, making it look like it was made out of swiss cheese. It was also charred black because of the electricity passing through it, most likely caused by the shards of lightning releasing its stored energy after passing through their victim.

Tousha took his time as he inspected each of the logs floating on the surface of the lake, proud when he discovered that each log looked the same. Destroyed. Completely and utterly destroyed. Just how he liked his opponents.

More than satisfied with his progress, Tousha called it a day. Or maybe two.
